if it keeps going down there's a subscription equivalent at www.weighlossresources.co.uk - the databases are better imo and it counts fruit and veg portions for you which is a good motivator, but other than that it's pretty much identical. it used to be £9/mo, not sure if it still is, but i thought it was worth every penny when i was on there (pre-dd2).

wlr used to do trial memberships for 3 days or so - maybe you could sign up for one of those (if they still do them) to keep track till ff comes back?

millenniumfalcon · 21/01/2009 19:54

btw i'm new to the thread lost 4lb first week but fell off the wagon somewhat over the weekend and haven't yet quite clambered back on. wouldn't be surprised if i stay the same this week (my day's tomorrow i think?)

Ceebee74 · 21/01/2009 20:32

Millenium thanks for the link. They are doing a 24-hour free trial so I have signed up for that - I quite like it actually and am seriously considering subscribing to it. Although it gives you a much lower calorie allowance than Food focus

millenniumfalcon · 21/01/2009 20:38

are you set on a different activity level? tbh i was a bit surprised at how much i was getting with ff - it felt like more than i remember having with wlr.

i do think it's the basis of both sites is the best weighloss tool i know of - being able to earn extra calories with exercise is soooo important, and i find there's a psychological trick where being properly aware of what i'm eating by writing stuff down automatically makes me eat better.

Dozymare · 21/01/2009 20:39

am seriously now.......can't get the link to other site to work either as won't let me join...have been B.A.D as not been able to weigh what I am eating and I know I have eaten to much.

Have had the following:

1 slice toast and half fat butter
fresh noodles stir fried with prawns and vegetables
1 skinny stem ginger muffin in starbucks with a skinny cappucino (90cals)
steak, peas and sauted pots...

all of the above would be fine if I had weighed, but DH was cooking and so I don't know what was what.......Plus, I like to add everything in at the start of the day, so I know what I have left at end of day for treats......

my fault: www.weightlossresources.co.uk

millenniumfalcon · 21/01/2009 20:45

i'm going to note on here what i've had before i forget

whiskey last night

half seeded bread, chicken mayo sandwich
pea cup a soup
fish stick seeded bread, mayo sandwich
more fish sticks
600g pasta/sauce for tea
loads of coffee

no exercise

Ceebee74 · 21/01/2009 20:46

I have set the activity level as 'moderately active' which was similar to FF (I think!) but it sounds like FF is generous with it's calories if you also noticed a difference!

Yep - it definitely does encourage you to exercise as you can actually see the extra calories you have earnt!

Dozy I am exactly the same as you - I like putting in everything for meals at the start of the day and then I know what I have left for snacks as I like my snacks

Anyway, have plenty of calories left today so a frozen Freddo it is

Right, I am definitely subscribing to WLR today - am fed up of FF not being available plus I like WLR better - if I can shift these pounds, it is worth £9 a month!

Dozymare · 22/01/2009 09:33

ceebee why is it better? Am really ahcked off now with FF so may look into subscribing!

OP posts:
GrimbleTheResourceful · 22/01/2009 09:50

Yes, sell WLR to us!

GrimbleTheResourceful · 22/01/2009 09:51

What I mean is, please tell us why you like it more, I need to justify £9 per month.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 22/01/2009 09:52

Please tell us why it is so good.

millenniumfalcon · 22/01/2009 09:55

you can do a free trial if you want to find out. it's v similar to ff but has forums, articles etc. there's v good online help so if there's anything you don't understand you get an answer straight away. ff-deluxe if you like

missnatalie · 22/01/2009 10:16

Im not too sure about the WLR site. I just cant get the hang of it. Plus i just entered all the details (fat content, carbs etc)for carrot and orange cake slices and it came out at 92 cal but the box says 95 cal . Ceebee have you put low impact or high impact aerobics for when you do the DVD? On FF i used Aerobics, General. Gonna give it another go today and then maybe ill sign up later before i fall off the wagon

Ceebee74 · 22/01/2009 10:37

Right WLR - it is pretty similar to FF tbh and it doesn't have the pretty graphs that FF had!

But (and you will like this Dozy) it does have a section where it gives you a weekly summary of how many calories you have eatne and whether this is plus/minus your allowance - so, for example, you can see that you have saved so many calories during the week and use them at weekends without having to calculate it yourself.

Plus, once you enter a food - it automatically enters it into your 'favourite foods' including the portion size (which I know FF didn't) - so for example, I always have a glass of cranberry juice every morning - with FF, I had to enter it each day, including portion size etc, with WLR, you just click on it in your 'favourite foods' bit and the portion size is there already.

These are only 2 of the main differences and not sure whether you would think it is worth £9 per month - but as Millenium says, it has recipes, forums, advice etc.

Missnatalie I put it down as low impact just to be on the lower side rather than the high side of calories (if that makes sense!) plus I am still not doing all the jumping involved yet (jumping jacks etc) as still building up gradually after my c-section.

Ceebee74 · 22/01/2009 10:40

Oh yes, plus it is worth signing up for the free trial (if you haven't already done so) just to see it for yourself.

I am trying it, funnily enough they are more generous with my calorie allowance so will see what happens.

Agree that is not as easy at the moment to use but I guess will get used to it.

mileniwmffalcon · 22/01/2009 15:15

blimey i get a good 2-300 cals less on wlr

given that i've lost 5lb in 2 weeks* with ff i should disappear in a coupe of months on wlr

*lost 1lb this week, if i squint at the scales in the right way lol. my scales are the type where you can weigh anything within a 7lb range depending on how far forwards/backwards you lean, i try hard not to cheat cos what would be the point, but it's always a pretty rough estimate!
