I am starting tomorrow - am currently munching my way through all the cr*p in the house as anything that is left at bedtime tonight is going in the bin!!

I am going to weigh myself on Sunday nights and am ashamed to admit my starting weight is 15st 9lbs .

My target weight is 12st so only 3 1/2 stone to lose........tis going to be long-haul I feel.

Hi bubblerock....sounds like you and your DH are doing brilliantly - well done!

I have a hot choc too...its my only chocolate fix these days. I also eat an orange and whatever fruit I have, or rather what the kids leave behind cos they seem to clear the fruit bowl on a regular basis!

Dozymare · 19/01/2009 12:58

hello ladies - have just posted on the fooffocus thread as well - I have lost 1lb this week taking my total to 5lbs. Am a bit though as have excercised like a demon...maybe will see the benefit of that next week??!

Anyway, am aiming for 2lbs this week taking me to a total of half a stone.

Well done everyone, let's keep going!!!

ruthosaurus · 19/01/2009 13:33

Hi all,

I was bad at the weekend, much wine/pizza/noodle bar action, so I am back on the healthy today. However, I am also going to keep up with the exercise and I guess I was okay with that as I did DIY and an hour's walk yesterday.

I am now terrified to weigh myself this week as I think I got a bit overexcited about last week's weight loss. DH pointed out that to be entirely accurate I have to weigh myself at the same time on the same day on the same scales each week. I told him to go and pee on someone else's bonfire - I don't care if the 7lb was a measuring aberration because it made me feel good and kept me motivated! Men do not understand that women and weight is not a logical relationship and that we will celebrate anything that tells us we're thinner, including trying on jeans in 8 different shops until we find the smallest size that fits!

Blimey, Bubblerock - you go, girl! I know what you mean about the wine thing. I wouldn't say I have a problem, but I do like a glass of wine and I am usually better just cutting it out or keeping it to weekends only.

whispywhisp · 19/01/2009 17:18

Tea tonight was...salmon with some salad and two boiled eggs...I'm absolutely stuffed! Later, if I get peckish, will be fruit.

Dozymare · 19/01/2009 19:32

whispy don't you eat your tea early??!! I couldn't deal with the evening munchies if I ate at 5ish!!!! Tonight, I am having roast chicken and salad - lots of both as v.hungry!!!!

How is everyone else??

whispywhisp · 19/01/2009 19:38

Dozymare - I have to eat early cos I only eat fruit for lunch and by the time I've got home with the kids I'm famished! I eat with the kids when they eat theirs.

juanitad · 19/01/2009 21:54

whispywisp, you sound very disciplined, I am slightly in awe!! Wish I could say no to things once in a while. I visited a friend today who had bought be a jam doughnut as a special treat, but rather than say thanks but no thanks, I readily accepted and scoffed the lot. It was delicious but boy do I feel guilty now!!! Must do better if I want to see another loss at the end of the week!

whispywhisp · 19/01/2009 21:59

Hi juan...I do try to be good but its hard sometimes, especially at certain times of the month, iykwim! One of the main reasons why I want to lose the weight is because I'm on the mini-pill, which I've been on since I had DD2, almost 5yrs ago, and its never suited me.....prolonged periods etc..but the GP won't put me on a 'normal' pill till I've lost more weight so you could say I need to lose the weight for medical reasons as well as for myself. I eat as much fruit as I want...I've always got fruit around and if I'm peckish I just eat anything in the fruit bowl. It's not easy cooking for three others and doing sarnies every day etc and there was a time I'd eat what the kids left over or the crusts off their sarnies but not now. I've not eaten bread for the last few weeks and nor have I touched cake, biscuits, crisps etc....I'm pleased but will be even more pleased when I get down to what I want to get down to! Yes, I love doughnuts too....its a bummer!

LadyBuzz · 20/01/2009 08:38

Welcome Whispywhisp.
Juanitad I had cake yesterday too .
This week isn't going to be a good one for me
Cake yesterday
Out for coffee/Lunch Friday
Retirement doo Friday night
Out Saturday Night
My Birthday on Sunday.
I'll be happy if I just stay the same this week I think!

I had a Skinny Cow Hot chocolate yesterday - Yummy they do a choc mint version too and it is only 40 cals

Ceebee74 · 20/01/2009 08:47

Juanitad/Ladybuzz - I will keep you both on the straight and narrow on Friday

Whispywhisp - I wish I like fruit but I really struggle to eat it - it just doesn't appeal to me at all. If someone made a fruit salad and put it in front of me, I like that - but an actual piece of fruit.....nope! Weird eh??

Bloody weather has scuppered my plans of walking DS1 to nursery this morning - the pavements are literally like an ice rink!! So no exercise there....DH has just gone to the gym and hopefully I will be going swimming or aqua aerobics when he gets back.

ruthosaurus · 20/01/2009 10:52

Hi all,

Damn Gordon's tinned G&T, that's all I'm saying. Plus, I'm with Ceebs, I can't be doing with this weather. I am going to try and drag myself to the shops on foot later but it's cold and I'm tired!

Plus the boy had a bad night, which always makes me want to reach for the chocolate and tinned G&T.

I have a naughty week planned, what with coffee and cake on Friday and lunch with a friend on Thursday. Plus I may take myself out for lunch today as a reward for not strangling my family last night... But I will have the salad!

onlywantsone · 20/01/2009 11:14

hey - am i welcome here?

Lost 5 stone after DD was born in 2006 - recently had the injection depro and am putting on weight, trying really hard and now need to shift 1/2 stone to get back to my happy size that i have been recently...

just done the davina work out DVD - do they work if you do them 3 times a week?

juanitad · 20/01/2009 11:55

ceebee, I have been swimming a couple of times since P was born, but no aqua aerobics as yet. How have you found it with your scar? I'm guessing it was ok, I'm thinking of going to an aqua class next week, as I have got P sorted in the creche at my gym, but wanted to make sure I'm not going to do myself any damage!

LackaDAISYcal · 20/01/2009 12:11

hello there.

I am not doing well at all and have put weight on

I have such a sweet tooth when BFing; I crave chocolate or sweets by the end of the day.

I'm getting out and doing a bit of walking, but that's it.

Feeling really frumpy and flabby and bloated (and miserable ). DH was making interested noises at the weekend (now he is back in the marital bed) but I managed to laugh it off; can't face him seeing me naked at all at the minute. I think I'm so down as this time last year I had great plans to be fab and fit before my 40th birthday but unplanned pregnancy soon put paid to that idea and I'm just a big ball of wobbly lard....with zero willpower.

when you see me on friday give me a swift kick up the backside as a motivational tool please

hi to whispywisp, onlywantsone and bubblerock. Juicing; much respect. I think I would feel starved if only having juice. Great kick start though, but not sure if suitable for BFing.

Quick Q...if anyone is BFing, how do you find exercising? I was doing some jogging with the Wii and had to grasp my boobs to my chest as they were rather wobbly to say the least.

Ceebee74 · 20/01/2009 12:36

Daisy I will wear my pointiest boots on Friday to administer the swift kick

Juanitad I have had no problems with my scar - I have done 2 step/aerobics classes now and it has not hurt - whilst doing the abs work, it felt a bit sore but not whilst actually doing the running/jumping etc so you should be fine. The worst part was on Saturday, I had on some trousers that were not very tight so whilst I was running/jumping, I could feel my wobbly belly go up and down - uuggh !! Everytime I think about chocolate now, I just think of that sensation!

Onlywantsone welcome to this thread I think if you do any exercise 3 times a week you would see a difference - never liked Davina's DVD's though (I think it is just cos I can't stand her )

Been swimming and done 40 lengths but just had cheese and crackers for lunch which has pretty used up all my calories...why is cheese so yummy yet so bad??

OP posts:
juanitad · 20/01/2009 12:46

Daisy, I know exactly what you mean about BFing plus exercise. I had a go on my dance mat last week and wore a sports bra, but still had to hold my boobs the whole time! Any kind of jumping about doesn't seem like a good idea right now so I think I will stick with swimming and maybe cycling if I can ever be arsed

LadyBuzz · 20/01/2009 12:55

erm, I hve to hold my boobs and I'm NOT BF I have a sports bra but it is about 4 sizes too small oops!
Welcome Onlywantsone

LackaDAISYcal · 20/01/2009 14:03

just a thought...does all that jigging up and down turn your milk to butter?

and with cheese, you'd think the good points (the calcium) would more than make up for the bad points (the calories).

I will try to do better as it's only me that's losing out by my inability to leave chocolate alone.

ruthosaurus · 21/01/2009 10:10

Hi all,

Has anyone else tried to get onto Foodfocus this morning? It doesn't appear to be working and now I am hooked on it! Gah.

I was naughty and had a kebab last night because I was knackered. Thing is, actually having healthy food would probably have made me feel better, no? Also no willpower over here.

Lacks I know what you mean, in my case it is largely to do with the stretchmarks as I look like a loaf of tiger bread now.

Okay, now I'm thinking about bread. Bad.

juanitad · 21/01/2009 14:56

ruth - I couldn't get on food focus either, it said it had exceeded its bandwidth, whatever that means. maybe it can't cope with all us MNers, the site has probably never had so much interest! Off to try again now.

missnatalie · 21/01/2009 16:12

Hi all, been so busy over the past week so havnt had time to come on. I can see that the lbs are still dropping. Well done ladies

Ceebee hows the exercise going. I am officially addicted to the steps DVD. Im now doing it 4-5 times per week and the days that i dont do it i feel really guilty. I can see a difference already. I know i keep saying it but my ass hasnt looked this good in skinny jeans for ages. My tum is getting flatter too. Still got a "mummy tummy" but its shrinking. Im not too bothered about it though. After all, ive had a baby and that "mummy tummy" was Henley's house for 9 months

Ceebee74 · 21/01/2009 16:20

Missnatalie well done on the shrinking tummy! And skinny jeans - you skinny woman! I don't actually think I could get one leg in a pair of skinny jeans

Exercise is great - I prefer the gym to the exercise DVD (always been a gym bunny) so the DVD is only for days when DH is away/DS1 at nursery (like today) and I can't get to the gym. Otherwise, I have been doing aerobics classes/swimming - so all in all I reckon I am exercising 5 days out of 7 which is about right - your body does need a rest every so often for the muscles to repair so don't feel guilty about having a day off

juanitad · 22/01/2009 09:29

Foodfocus still not working! Have resorted to writing down everything I am eating, but I want to know how many calories, and can't do that easily without FF!!!

missnatalie · 22/01/2009 10:19

FF still not working . Giving the WLR site a go but im not too sure about it. I just cant get the hang of it. Plus i just entered all the details (fat content, carbs etc)for carrot and orange cake slices and it came out at 92 cal but the box says 95 cal . Ceebee have you put low impact or high impact aerobics for when you do the DVD? On FF i used Aerobics, General. Gonna give it another go today and then maybe ill sign up later before i fall off the wagon

Dozymare · 22/01/2009 15:31

I am with you on that missnat definately not as good as FF in my opinion...wonder if it will ever come back????/
