I am starting tomorrow - am currently munching my way through all the cr*p in the house as anything that is left at bedtime tonight is going in the bin!!

I am going to weigh myself on Sunday nights and am ashamed to admit my starting weight is 15st 9lbs .

My target weight is 12st so only 3 1/2 stone to lose........tis going to be long-haul I feel.

dairylea and beetroot??!!!! YUCK...sure your not pregnant again

are you REALLY not eating ANYTHING in between meals? Does anyone really do that??? Or is it just me - I have to have something, even if just a cup of ovaltine chocolate!

LadyBuzz · 07/01/2009 15:16

ha ha defo not pg again!!! I have odd tastes - always have.

I'm only not snacking today so I can have more spag bol - I did sneak a sly roses choc earlier

ruthosaurus · 07/01/2009 15:46

I've had cereal for brekky, Heinz soup +2 toast and guilty handful of Doritos for lunch and am having sausages, cauliflower cheese and veg for tea at DH's insistence but will have smallish portions.

Are you allowed extra calories while BFing? I don't want to collapse weeping from malnutrition but nor do I want to overcompensate and get Even Fatter.

Ladybuzz, though I may not share your taste for beetroot and Dairylea I respect your choice as I have no room to talk. I put Tabasco on boiled eggs (well, on most eggs, come to think of it), following a trip to Mexico in 99, and Hendersons Relish (like a more northern Lea and Perrins, for the unititiated) on peas. And I really, really hope I'm not pg...

Oblomov · 07/01/2009 16:40

Not doing well on food front.
Bran flakes breakfast. Sandwich for lunch. Stew and dumplings dinner.
Sounds good - yes ? no snacking ?

But not when you add in the 2 cans of d coke, and two chocolate biscuits - classic and a penguin had am and then pm. And then 3 custard cremas had at 2.30am

And no exercise yesterday or today.

But have been watching Paul Mckenna 'I will make you thin' and will do his scheme. Ie eat what I want, but pay more attention to when actually hungry. I do beleive that Paul Mckenna theories are fab. And that dieting, as such is not good.

Does this all mean I am not allowed on this thread ?
Please, please let me stay

I have found out that they do box circuits at gym on tues 8pm. so when shoulder allows will go.

Does that re-deam me in anyway ?

Oblomov · 07/01/2009 16:41

By the way, have done dozys website thing for what I ate on monday and was 434 calories below allowance. Prob becasue I did school run am and pm.
Not good since.

coolkat · 07/01/2009 17:02

Can't seem to grasp this being good lark, having a mare.

Had 2 snack size mars, some maltesersas snacks and only a small walk (40 mins) today. Rahh

Am having healthy meals though so its just the in between I need to stop. I have melon and just stewing some apples to snack on tonight as DH out at work

I really want to do well at this but don't want to be obsessive due to past issues IYSWIM.

Anyhow, you seem to be doing fab. Keep it up. X

ruthosaurus · 07/01/2009 17:22

I just had the thought - "Ooh, stewed apples - I've got some already done in the freezer." Then I thought "I could have custard with that"...

I am my own saboteur...

Obs, at least it was Diet Coke mate. I can't be doing with aspartame so fizzy drinks are out. Boo.

I was 7.5 stone as a teenager due to ishoos and cannot believe that a) I am nearly twice that now and b) that I am so unbothered about it. It's mostly because I want to get back into my rather fab denim skirt and look less huage on photos.

And I did look like a sack of coathangers at 7.5 stone, twas NOT a good look and tbh I am rather enjoying having D-cup boobs for the first time ever. It's just the matching bum and thighs I'm not so keen on.

Therefore, no more Crunchies, no not even on Fridays, and smaller portions. When Stephen Fry lost weight the other year people asked him how he did it and he said "By eating far less food". Gotta be worth a go!

Right, I'm off to make food. Healthy, nutritious food. Heart disease runs in DH's family and I have a nasty feeling I may be killing him very slowly with cheese.

Scuse mammoth meandering post but I'm just SOOOOOOOO excited to have had time online!

missnatalie · 07/01/2009 17:25

Hi, can i join in please? I am on another thread too but it seems very quite at the moment . You guys seem more active and i need that to keep me on the straight and narrow IYKWIM

Ok im 5ft 7in and weigh 14st 3lb. Im not actually sticking to a specific diet as when i do i end up gorging on everything. Im cutting out the crap. Having 3 sensible meals a day and doing more exercise. DS will be 1 in feb so i think its about time i lost the baby and post baby weight. I put on just over 4st during my pregnancy .

Yorky · 07/01/2009 19:14

I'm doing OK apart from the turkish delight I've just eaten! Does anyone weigh their portions of cereal etc or is it easier just to have stuff like toast? I'm seriously thinking of using one of DS bowls so I don't eat such large portions - I love cereals and we don't get the sugar laden ones

Yorky · 07/01/2009 19:19

On the positive side 6wk check yesterday, Drs scales weigh 3kg lighter than our scales in the bathroom! The highlight of an appt the upshot of which was me being taken to the HV ans assessed for PND, think I just tired atm though, neither sleeping that well

ruthosaurus · 07/01/2009 19:30

3kg? That's another baby! Go Yorky! Yikes on the PND tho, poor you.

sussexoldspot · 07/01/2009 19:43

Hello, may I join, too?

I lost 2.5st this time last year and have put it all on again. I am 5ft 9in and weight almost 14st.

Ooh, DP has just gone to fetch fish and chips, so I may be better off joining you tomorrow instead

Ceebee74 · 07/01/2009 19:46

3kg - seriously?? Wow - I bet you were dead chuffed - sorry about the PND though

Obs of course you can stay - as Dietmeister General, I give you permission

Missnatalie welcome! If you look further down the thread you will see a link to a website we are all using - you log all the food you eat and what exercise you do and it calculates the calories you have eaten and what you have left - bit like WW but in calories rather than points iyswim

Today I have had:

2 Caramel snack-a-jacks before taking DS1 to nursery

Brekkie - porridge with banana and raisins

2 crumpets with a little bit of marg

Lunch - 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and bag of hula hoops

Bowl of cornflakes

Tea - M&S Count On Us Lamb Hotpot with green beans and carrots

I do have a Creme Egg (my absolute fave chocolate ever) upstairs calling to me so I may see if I have enough calories left for it tonight!

Yorky I don't bother weighing out cereal but just hazard a guess (with experience of many years of dieting!)

Dozy as you can see, I snack (a lot) in between meals - I cannot manage without it. I would rather eat smaller main meals to be able to have a snack!!

Dozymare · 07/01/2009 19:58

evening all - hello to our new recruits! The website we ar using is www.foodfocus.co.uk which is great if you want to track what you are eating.

As for "ishoos" i was bulimic in a previous life, so very very concious of the fact I could get "obsessed". Please tell me if you think I am. I reckon that is all in my past, but having not dieted since, it could raise it's ugly head.

Saying that, I am really enjoying tracking on this website, and am eating really well.

today@

Porridge made with water and prunes
Prawn salad and Hula Hoops
2 DC's
Prok fillet with half fat creme fraische, mushroomsd and onions and roasted butternut squash.

still got 400c left due to another 40min jog

I am weighing EVERYTHING as portion control is definately my downfall!!!

LadyBuzz · 07/01/2009 20:09

Hi Missnatalie and Sussexold spot - enjoy the fish and chips

I'm weighing everything too I am the queen of ohh that can't be enough i'll just have a little bit more.
Dozy we will keep you on the straight and
narrow

mum2becks · 07/01/2009 20:12

I dont seem to be doing too well I am with the meals as went out and bought loads of fresh veg & fruit and am actually enjoying eating them BUT I cant seem to help snacking in between which is where I let myself down!!!!!

Also DD isnt well meaning I have been stuck in the house the last 2 days so not getting any exercise as my main exercise is going to be long walks with the double pram!! I havent even looked how to set up the Wii Fit so will have to get DH on to it so I could at least start with that

I do like having this thread to keep reporting back to as just telling you all is making me determined to try harder!!!!!!!!!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 07/01/2009 20:14

I think I will regroup and start again next week. It's not been a great few days here so am comfort eating and about to have chinese for tea followed by chocolate and red wine

yorky....if you want to chat you know where I am

dozy.....take it easy lovely and we will do our level best to keep you grounded

hi to our newbies

food here...later.

Dozymare · 07/01/2009 20:17

I agree that keeping the thread going helps to keep us on track......night night everyone

ruthosaurus · 08/01/2009 11:15

Morning all!

Okay, so I have just managed to get my porridge down after a morning of bfing and poo everywhere - does it count as lunch now?

Dunno what to have for lunch but there is a lot of healthy stuff in the fridge... I could make some kind of lovely salad, I guess.

I've just signed up to that website - how scary is that? It looks v useful but I can see how I could get sucked into it. I probably also need to go out and get some bathroom scales, otherwise I will be relying on getting weighed by the doc in a month.

missnatalie · 08/01/2009 12:37

Hi Ladies, ive just signed up to that website. Its actually quite good although i can see myself getting addicted to it. I never knew how many calories were in toast with flora spread .

The good thing is that it says i will hit my target weight of 11st by June 14th. Just in time for summer

Food diary for yesterday was:

2 slices of toast with flora
beans on toast
2/8 of chicken pizza
and
3 pieces of garlic bread
I also had about 5 of the marshmellow flumps

Did 1hr of aerobics, cardio combat and body toning (claire richards DVD).

Doing no exercise today as my whole body from top to toe is killing. Have done it 2 days on the trot so i think my body deserves a break

Dozymare · 08/01/2009 13:28

well done everyone!! There is now a thread specifially for those who are following www.foodfocus.co.uk - sorry I can't do link, but after finding the website I created a new one and lots of people have also joined.

Today I have had

porridge with water and prunes
Miso soup with a pot of cous cous and feta cheese salad fromt he Sainsbury's finest range

Dinner - Prawns and be good to yourself caesar salad

rutho i got these scales, they are amazing

www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8328588/c_1/1%7Ccat_10197552%7CBathroom+and+showers%7C1019 7973/Trail/searchtext%3ESALTER+SCALES.htm

£30 off as well!

LadyBuzz · 08/01/2009 16:06

Just done 35 mins on the wii fit and it says I have dropped another pound. That is 3 so far this week. i'm still obese though

been good so far today

Cereal with Semi skimmed milk
Special K bar
Heinz soup and 2 x wholemeal bread

2 x thorntons viennese truffles - yum

Poached fish and vegies for tea (or dinner, I think tea is a northern thing

Out of interest what DO people call the meals?

Ceebee74 · 08/01/2009 16:32

Missnatalie is that DVD good?? I bought Kelly Brooks SCD one - tried it this morning and it is cr*p with a capital C!! It is not a workout at all - was v disappointed as I was all set to do some exercise this morning and that DVD was so not exercise!! Far too complicated and too many gaps, pauses, whilst you 'learnt' the dance! I lasted 10 minutes and got really fed up with it.

I want one that is a proper aerobic workout - is Claire's like that?

OP posts:
missnatalie · 08/01/2009 16:44

Hi Ceebee i think the claire richards one is fab. I was once a gym junkie in my early 20s and her routine is just like the one i did at the gym. Just the warm up gets me knackered. Its done in 5 steps: warm up, aerobic, cardio combat, muscle toning and then the cool down. Theres probably a 20 sec gap in between each section. I did it for 2 days on the trot but having a break today as every muscle that i have is aching. Id say its definatly worth the money. The routines are really easy apart from the cardio combat routine but i had the hang of it by my 2nd day. I think the whole routine takes about an hr. HTH x

Ceebee74 · 08/01/2009 18:35

Sounds just up my street - I too am a gym junkie but am struggling to get there much at the moment as DH is away a lot with work - so I want something that will give me a good workout.

Can you do the moves low-impact though - I have a c-section 7 weeks ago so am supposed to be taking it easy on the exercise front

Plus, dare I admit, that I am actually a secret Steps fan so will LOVE the music
