....not necessarily the best kick-start to losing weight.
My Mum has just announced to my family that since I have put on weight, I am looking increasingly like my 20st rugby playing uncle. So, time to put away the pringles I fear! Anyone want to join me (after new year)

Hello everyone! Managed to force myself onto the scales and was repaid by a nice high number waiting for me: 16 stone, 8.6 pounds.

and

I am tall (5,10") and carry it better than you would think but obviously things have to change, starting now!

MmeJaffaB · 05/01/2009 08:10

Good Luck ladies starting today........

Can we fix this?.......

cariadambyth · 05/01/2009 09:10

Hello, hope you don't mind if I join you. I've got a dd who is four and a half, a ds who is twelve months and a house full of naughty but nice treats! My sil is getting married in June so I'd love to lose a stone by then. Don't rate my chances as will power is not my strong point!

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 05/01/2009 09:32

MmeJaffaB, yes we can!

Morning everyone, I'm two days in and doing well so far. BUT, I've woken up this morning and it's snowed!!

I was planning to do another 4 mile walk with DD and the dog today. Is that a bad idea as DD is only almost 5 months? She does have a snow suit and yesterday I put that on over her clothes with a hat and blanket and she seemed ok, but will it be too cold for that today? THe dog has a coat too so she should be ok..

Answers on a postcard please!

mumski · 05/01/2009 10:40

MmeJaffaB was the question 'am i a skier' as in a MN name for someone else?
or does it mean do I throw my self down mountains on a pair of planks?

MmeJaffaB · 05/01/2009 12:12

It was the later mumski, stupid sport but "my" thing. lol

chequeres, I doubt it's much colder than yesterday, possibly air temp is warmer, sounds mad I know! I wouldn't think twice about it as long as I had them well wrapped and out of any wind, but then I am some one who took an 11 week old skiing in a sling.

I have walked this morning, it was cold!

lilolilmanchester · 05/01/2009 13:01

Morning all, 12 stone 2 and raring to get it down at least half a stone by end Jan.

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 05/01/2009 14:11

lilolil I'll join you on the half-a-stone-by-end of Jan target. I've got an engagement party to go to at end of Jan so gives me something to work towards.

Got a big family party at Easter too so want to have lost my target of 22 pounds by then.

lilolilmanchester · 05/01/2009 16:35

great stuff chancellor. 22lbs by Easter sounds good too as we are planning a week away then.
I got of to a sneaky head start today - was sick during the night, and have been in bed pretty much all day. Have eaten precisely 1 banana and 2 rich tea biscuits. Am hoping I'll feel up to some tea cos feel very weak and supposed to be workign tomorrow. Wasn't going to tell you all that but then itwill mean I lose more weight this week probably so only fair to let you know why!

dizzydixies · 05/01/2009 17:38

oh lilo hope you're feeling better now although silver lining and all that

shall endeavour to weigh in tomorrow when I start - haven't even managed to get out of pyjamas today - the girls and I have had a really lazy day in the house as the dreaded school run starts again tomorrow

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 05/01/2009 17:41

Lilo, that sound horrible, hope you feel better soon.

I'm on day 3 and feeling pretty good. Found a chocolate orange and some time out bars in the boot of my car though so have left them there in the hope I don't remember them!

Only managed 3 miles walking today but if it's not snowing tomorrow will aim for 4 again tomorrow.

Dizzy at pyjamas.

dizzydixies · 05/01/2009 17:45

lol chequers, have dressed the girls and done a mad dash round house so DH doesn't think have been a filthy slattern all day - not that he would mind in the slightest but he has rather a tough week and I'm feeling a tad guilty about it - esp as he's about to be put on a diet tomorrow without him knowing

and 3 miles is FANTASTIC. the chocolate is allowed to remain as a treat and not if you do like me & eat the whole lot all at once

madAngelHairday · 05/01/2009 17:54

Afternoon all, have not eaten much today due to hosp procedure ending in v sore throat, so good start!! Stood on scales this am and exactly 11 st, so 1.5 to go, aiming for easter time also. Watched the Paul McKenna weight loss thing this pm which made a lot of sense, anyone read his book?

kayzr · 05/01/2009 18:55

Just did the dreaded weigh in. 14st 7lbs So just 4 stone 7lbs to go then. I will also attempt to lose half a stone by the end of Jan.

I am planning on doing this. So I will be doing lots of walking and I'm doing the Yorkshire Dales 3 peaks challenge as training so I am hoping that will help in my weight loss.

Does anyone have any tricks for getting a flat stomach after having 2 children? Please tell me it is possible.

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 05/01/2009 21:09

Hi Kayzr, no idea about the flat stomach I'm afraid - I didn't have one pre-dd when I was a very slim and sporty size 8

The 3 peaks challenge looks great, you will be very fit after that!

cariadambyth · 06/01/2009 11:00

Will be weighing this afternoon, not looking forward to it though! My dd doesn't go back to school until next Tuesday so think I'll start the diet in earnest then. Delaying tactics I know!!!

HSMM · 06/01/2009 11:05

I'd be able to start losing weight, if only I could polish off the rest of the chocolates and nibbles left in the house after Christmas ......

dizzydixies · 06/01/2009 11:31

HSMM I felt the same which is why I delayed starting until today but DH and I had a 'last supper' yesterday and I've told him the chocs can stay but only to be dipped into - not gorged on at the rate we do

was going to go to GP surgery this am to weigh myself but DH reminded me that the Wii Fit will do this for me, he's away at work this morning so when he gets back he's going to set it all up and we'll both hop on

am not promising I'll post what I'm weighing in at but I shall tell you week by week on a Tues what the difference is

kayzr · 06/01/2009 12:19

I feel quite good today. I went shopping and got stuff to make a curry for dinner. I normally get prawn crackers and naan bread to go with it but I didn't get either. DH might be a bit disappointed but never mind.

lilolilmanchester · 06/01/2009 13:55

sounds like everyone's still in a positive frame of mind! I'm much better now but appetite still not fully back, which is fantastic news for kick-starting weight loss! Am back at work and just had salmon for lunch, tho being made in a canteen probably done in oil. But didn't eat much yesterday and no alcohol for the first time in too many weeks so hope that will continue!

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 06/01/2009 13:59

Well done, sounds like everybody is off to a great start.

I'm not going to manage a walk today It's so icy out and I'm worried about slipping with DD in the pushchair as the dog has a tendency to pull when she sees something she wants to chase.

If the ice clears up by tomorrow though I'm going to do another 4 miles.

Lilolil salmon sounds very healthy indeed.

cariadambyth · 06/01/2009 17:15

Well, I've weighed... 10st 7lbs. I'm 5ft 6ins. Maybe I'll have to do more than just cut out wine and chocolate! You all seem very dedicated on here, very impressive, you'll be the kick up the bum I need

lilolilmanchester · 06/01/2009 17:43

welcome Cariad! Tho I am a bit at 10st 7lbs & 5ft 6ins; I'm 5ft 4 and 12st 2lbs.... hope we can all help each other achieve our targets.

NoShitSherlock · 06/01/2009 17:47

Hi all did post at the start of the thread and then forgot about it

I am 5'3 and 13st 10lb.

Anyone following a diet or is it just healthy eating?

lilolilmanchester · 06/01/2009 19:00

I'm not following a diet personally, just trying to cut down on the alcohol and nibbles and portion sizes. My main meals are healthy anyway - but it's the extras that get me! If that doesn't work will consider counting calories. Would be interested to hear what others are doing.
