....not necessarily the best kick-start to losing weight.
My Mum has just announced to my family that since I have put on weight, I am looking increasingly like my 20st rugby playing uncle. So, time to put away the pringles I fear! Anyone want to join me (after new year)

No one needs to ask, just join in. Share as much or as little info as you want. It's not MY thread, I just started it. I can't offer qualified advice and won't be on every day - so we all need to help and encourage each other. OK? (just raiding the fridge, on to the smoked salmon appertisers now!)

MmeJaffaB · 04/01/2009 14:42

You are so on! like a bit of beating. behave So whats your plan?

MmeJaffaB · 04/01/2009 14:49

Lilio- you mean we don't have to pass some kind of endurance etst to be included. Bugger, had just been warming up.

MmeJaffaB · 04/01/2009 14:49

test, even

madAngelHairday · 04/01/2009 14:50

Hmmm...plan? Well....atm, to finish off all the chocolate and baileys carrot sticks in the fridge, but not much planned beyond that. Not sure I'll be following anything like WW, more make it up as I go along - healthy, smaller meal portions and cut out the snacks/too much sugar I have in my tea etc. Hoping for slow but sure weight loss that can be maintained.
lilolil -yep absolutely, will be good to support each other where we can/. good luck all

madAngelHairday · 04/01/2009 14:51

Ooops, I obv don't know what hyphens are

MmeJaffaB · 04/01/2009 14:57

You have to put them each side of each word lol mad

lilolilmanchester · 04/01/2009 16:13

Madangels, chocolates and Baileys fine for today. Save the carrot sticks for tomorrow!

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 04/01/2009 16:16

Has anyone started yet? I was going to start tomorrow but weighed myself yesterday and decided to start then.

I didn't have anything bad yesterday (apart from a glass of red vino and a G&T once DD was in bed, but I am keeping alcohol as my one naughty thing).

Today has been good so far, I've not eaten any junk and have had lots of fruit so far. Also walked 4 miles with the dog and pushchair today, which I am planning to keep up every day (normally only do about 1.5 miles).

lilolilmanchester · 04/01/2009 16:29

well done chequers, sounds like a fab start. We're about to have a roast dinner with a bottle of wine. Might make an apple crumble. My final blow-out before trying to be good for a month.
When are you next going to weigh yourself?

intheskywithdiamonds · 04/01/2009 16:30

well done chequers! what a great start

lilolilmanchester · 04/01/2009 16:31

P.S. I would have started earlier but Dizzy suggested the 6th and it would have been rude to start before all the junk was eaten Dizzy was ready!!!

lilolilmanchester · 04/01/2009 16:32

(didn't mean to strike out the "before"; that's cos I'm desperately trying to finish a bottle of gin today, and actually doing a pretty good job!)

chequersandroastedchestnuts · 04/01/2009 16:39

I am going to try to hold off weighing myself til next Saturday but we'll see how I get on.

A bottle of gin sounds good!

lilolilmanchester · 04/01/2009 16:43

not the whole bottle you understand! Just what's left. Probably unfair to post about a roast and gin when you've just started your diet, sorry! But then we reluctant dieters have to learn to resist temptation! Keep going!

mumski · 04/01/2009 16:49

I'd love to join in to. Have tried all the usual cons WW, Slimming World ect ect. So my thoughts were similar to lilo's - smaller portions/a bucket of red instead of the usual vat. less rubbish.
With the support from here maybe I could shed the 3 stone + I need to.
Lets go girls!

MmeJaffaB · 04/01/2009 18:15

I've just done the same lilo, last supper and all that.

I'm already thinking about breakfast.

Chequers, well done you starting at the weekend. I'm hoping for a fine day tomorow, will take the bike out after the school run.

MmeJaffaB · 04/01/2009 18:16

mumski, are you are skier?

intheskywithdiamonds · 04/01/2009 19:25

Roast Dinner, glass of wine, bowl of trifle and a sneaky cookie all polished off this evening

Am scared/excited/apprehensive (but mostly excited!) about kicking off tomorrow

kayzr · 04/01/2009 19:31

Oh Can I join please??

I need to lose 4 stone really. I put 4 stone on with DS1 and didn't lose any before having DS2. I put another stone on with DS2 and lost it straight away as he was 10lb 5oz.

I will be doing lots of walking as exercise as I am training to do the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge.

Hope we all lose plenty of weight.

dizzydixies · 04/01/2009 20:05

hi Kayzr - you're still bfing a teeny tiny tot so be careful as he'll be guzzling loads - lovely big boy that he is

lilo appreciate you holding back on my account

am not starting till 6th as have have loads of shite treats in house from Christmas and DD1 starts back at school on Tues so it just seemed to be most sensible timing for me

I have a couple of ideas how to do this

homemade no point soup by the vat load in plentiful supplies so if I'm peckish/hungry I can have a cup/bowl of that and see if that staves it off

will weigh myself to shock myself into action and I hope to weigh myself maybe once every week or two weeks - our GP surgery now has a dedicated for weighing/height/blood pressure etc that patients can pop in and use

evenings are my downfall, once the kids are in bed I sit here and MN or watch TV and munch munch munch so am cutting myself off - no more snacking after tea

am going to go through my extensive collection of cook books/magazines and drag out loads of lovely healthy eating recipes for us all and if they're successful I'll post them for us

lilolilmanchester · 04/01/2009 20:28

the things we martyrs have to do dixie

kayzr · 04/01/2009 20:34

I know Dizzy, I've joined weight watchers online and they have given me extra points for BFing.

I just need to start losing it, if I don't start now I never will.

dizzydixies · 04/01/2009 20:41

I did too Kayzr but although I joined online I went to a weekly weigh in and stopped going as the woman was a wench

I got the general gist of it though I hope!

kayzr · 04/01/2009 20:44

Thats why I stopped going after I had DS1. She was bloody awful.
