I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

Hi everyone,

I see its posting weight time.

I went to the gym Monday and I am weighing in at 10st. I am 5 7. I know I am not now overweight but my weightloss is still very new to me and I know I still have food issues to resolve. I don't really have a target as such, probably 9 7 I would think.

I may actually gain weight before I lose. I was going to the gym a lot before my virus and although my weight has remained quite static my tone has drastically decreased. When the virus first started I was comfort over eating and still lost weight. My trainer said I was losing muscle not fat so as my muscle builds my weight may increase.

Guess I want to ask if you are all ok about me being on here? When I was on the thread in the summer with 2 stone to lose I felt more legitimate , but I know I still need support.

mixedmama · 06/01/2009 15:09

I drink diet coke... I drink about 1 small bottle a day when working but dont have it at home... it is a zero points thing with ww so sometimes if i am hungry it just hits the spot.

I am managing to get on my ike but do have two days to catch up on.

everyone seems to be on scratch so well done everyone.

bessiebighead · 06/01/2009 15:37

I can only speak for myself, but I would really like you to keep posting here.

Most people know it's the last pounds that are the very hardest to lose. It can be frustrating and just as tough as the early stages when you're not in the groove yet, or in the middle and starting to slump. It takes super committment to see it to the end.

We'll all be at your point soon, and your revelations about your stage will help us also.
And losing 2 stone in itself is very inspiring!

Great work at the gym! Any pounds you put on now is muscle and strength for the future! How fabulous is that! Anything you lose means your cardio is working overtime.

Tibni - please do keep posting and let us know how you are getting on. Have you measured yourself? You may see more dramatic results as you tone up this way?

I've taken some measurements too as I hope it will encourage me to keep going, especially if the scales aren't going too quickly in the right direction!

rachaelsara · 06/01/2009 16:58

Hello Bessie, thanks for the welcome! i've know for a bit over a year. I've not been properly diagnosed because both my sisters are confirmed ceoliacs, and when I dropped wheat, it transformed my life within three days. There is no way I would be tempted to even eat a jaffa cake! My symptoms were so bad, I couldn't drive the kids to school and get home in time to get to the loo . I used to have spots, headaches and dreadful lethargy which I put down to being a Mum. I will check out those threads, thank you!

I'm going to cook for the girls, then I've got to go to a meeting - I'm a Body Shop @ Home area manager which keeps me busy in the evenings!

Really glad I've found you! I used to be a big Mumsnetter, then went off it for about a year but it's good to be back!

SilentTerror · 06/01/2009 17:34

Hi everybody !!

Well today has'nt been a good day diet wise..

Breakfast : 2 toasts and a coffee

Snack : 1 special bar k

Lunch : Ratatouille + 1 handful of pasta + 1 yogurth

Snack : 1 special bar K

Dinner : Gratted carrots + tuna + sweetcorn

And then..not 1 but 2 glasses of wine..I had a hard day

My only exercise was picking up/dropping off the kids, tidying the house...

Hope you are all ok !!!

Wintersun · 06/01/2009 20:34

Sorry have to be brief.

OK day for diet. Felt a bit weak after work so had a mars delight but still kept to my cals allowance.

DOn't drink diet drinks. Aspartame is very bad for you and diet drinks stop you from losing weight (I posted on other thread too. See article I linked)

Everyone is doing well so lets keep it going!

tibni · 06/01/2009 20:39

Thanks for the support guys.

Starting again has been different; this time the food reduction and change in eating hasn't seemed so hard - last time initially I really struggled.

Got to the gym and managed a sub 10 min on my running time trial (1st since virus) and managed a good workout. The measuring is a really good idea, thank you. Somewhere I have my starting statistics from August - will dig them out, should be a good for motivation and an indication of how im doing.

tessieb · 06/01/2009 20:54

Had a good day today, eaten well and done 75 mins exercise (yoga) - and NO DIET COKE since I threw a glassful away at lunchtime when I made my decision to stop drinking the rubbish. I'll let you know if I think it makes a difference to my waistline!

Any of you planning to watch Claire Sweeny's Big Fat Diet on ITV1 at 9 tonight? I read about it in the paper last week, sounds interesting. She ate whatever she felt like, no restrictions, while being monitored for weight gain and health checks. Quite shocking apparently.

Thought it may give us all even more motivation to lose those extra lbs!

SilentTerror · 06/01/2009 20:58

Just switching on Tessie!

mammymac · 06/01/2009 22:31

Can I join in - still haven't shifted baby weight after dd2. Target weight is wedding weight of 10stone which would be amazing.
Weaning (from breastfeeding) starts next week so I'm seriously going to have to cut the calorie intake.

My plan/resolution is simply no snacks between meals (except maybe if you go out for a coffee to someones - that would be rude?!) and some extra exercising. Played squash tonight which was good. Not sure I can motivate myself for the gym.

Ambi · 07/01/2009 08:22

Just a quickie before work, I'm dead chuffed that I've lost another 3lbs since Monday weigh in. I'm nearly at my monthly target!

Wintersun · 07/01/2009 09:00

Ambi Wow! What have you been eatong/doing?
Thats brilliant.

I'm at home with the dss today so its going to be hard to not snack! I have lots of grapes, carrots and ryvita to try to save me!

Was The Big Fat diet any good? I meant to watch it but watched Big Brother instead.

mixedmama · 07/01/2009 09:20

Firstly, just wanted to say Summefruit I thought your food list was very reasonable and not bad at all, I wish I could say my day was like that.

Day 2 - and I succumbed to biscuits at my mum and dads. Did managed to get in my dance dvds in the morning tho.

Am 3 days behind with bike which means 2 hours... may have to right it off and just do my 30 mins today as I will never find 2 hours in the day to do it.

I got a magazine through from my local council about leisure centres last night and it had some really cool tips in terms of goals etc, so have set myself one big goal that will help with my weight loss and making me therefore more confident, but also be an achievement and for the greater good.

My friend works for the Stroke Association and in Oct last yr they had a 5k and 10k military run and I said i might do it this year, so am setting that as my goal with regard to exercise so i have two reasons to make sure i train.

Today:

two crumpets with small amount of jam
lunch am planning prob sushi as it is a work day
dinner - i didnt eat my micro meal last night so will have that tonight.

Snacks will be raisins and 2 satsumas and a starbucks (skimmed) and cereal bar.

mixedmama · 07/01/2009 09:21

oh mabi well done btw

wintersun - i find my days off hard as there is so much available to eat at work i can only eat what is there.

Quick check in for me as pfb 1st bday today.
I've no doubt i'll eat a piece of bday cake, but will make sure everything else is right on track!

Have a good'un lovely ladies!

OP posts:
countessofmontecristo · 07/01/2009 11:05

Are you all managing to resist the temptation to not jump on the scales and weigh yourselves every day?

I don't think I can last out until Monday to see if I've shifted any.

mixedmama · 07/01/2009 11:46

Countess - everytime i go in the bathroom i weigh myself

Wintersun · 07/01/2009 12:30

Happy birthday to pfb! . Enjoy your (small) slice of cake

mixedmama I'm trying to drink more water at home as I've realised that I drink more water at work (its an excuse to get up from my desk for a bit!)and it may be thirst that leads me snack more.
It seems to be working

I weigh myself every morning!

tibni · 07/01/2009 14:16

My mate broke my scales weighing her luggage so I can only weigh myself at the gym. However as I am going most days I am weighing myself most days too - at some point one of the trainers will rumble me and I will be in trouble! LOL Scales in the ladies changing room are very flattering but read about 8lb too light so I am sticking to mega technical ones on gym floor, have to then use conversion table to work out stones rather than kg to log here.

bananapaddlepop · 07/01/2009 16:48

Can I join in with you lovely ladies? I need the extra motivation. I joined WW (again) today and bought some of those davina dvds on ebay. I have a wedding on the 14th feb which I'd like to have lost 10 pounds by.

My weight (shamefully) is 13.2. Practically couldn't post it.

Wintersun · 07/01/2009 17:27

Its hard!
I've just made the dss dinner and have been picking at bits of it! I normally never do that but today I made them chips and chicken nuggets (both home made) and they just looked yummy.

I've knocked of 150 cals off my allowance to compensate for the small nibbles

Hi bananapaddlepop. I'm sure you can lose 10lbs by then. I've lost 3lbs in less than a week and others on this thread are doing really well too. Good luck!

rachaelsara · 07/01/2009 18:21

Hello! Are any of you Slimming World experts? My first meeting is tomorrow, but I've borrowed the books and being trying to do it freestyle. Today I've eaten 3 eggs, 3 bacon, mushrooms, toms, onions, grapes, and 4 coffees. For or tea, we're having dry stir fry with SW homemade chicken kiev(s). Is that OK? Or have I got it wrong?
