I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

If it makes you feel any better I was a complete pig yesterday. Went to a birthday party and there was loads of food, I ate too much, then we had friends round last night and we had Indian and alcohol, again I ate far too much. I think I will need to do loads of exercise this week to stave off a gain

I did enjoy it though

PollyGarter · 08/02/2009 09:53

Oh Counting, that sounds very difficult! Could you persuade him to create delicious morsels that are under a certain number of cals??? Do you think he'd be up for a challenge?

Nice workout wheesht, i didn't know MOS did dvds! And congratulations on the loss! Great news! I hope you weren't stranded for long in this weather. How horrible. Bet the cup of tea when you got in was good though! i think it's easier to get the exercise in place once food habits are sorted too.

MrsMattie, you still have the tastiest sounding menu i've ever seen. Are you following a particular diet, or have you worked out what works for you? If it's your own, i think you may have to write a book.

Great going mixedmama, with the impromptu bike ride. I hope your 2nd chicken pox lil fella is on the mend. Is your other ds fully recovered now? Hope the confinement isn't too maddening for you!

Wintersun, the gym system will be brilliant for you. This will get you dropping lbs steadily!Undervalued. That is amazing. Sheesh! So glad you're feeling on top of the world. Brilliant news!

Undervalued. That is amazing! Family are always the last to notice. So good you're feeling on top of the world! Won't be long at all till all those 14s will be fitting nicely. And then loose. And then... new clothes for spring and summer!

Countess, glad to hear the Boots website is working for you. Does it have lots of resources?

Ok. I'm going to do my long walk today. today. today. Otherwise the whole week will have gone by. Heading out this morning... so if you see me posting on another thread after 10am today - tell me off!

PollyGarter · 08/02/2009 09:57

Hey Lisa, birthday parties are dangerous! All those little bowls of temptation! Have a great time exercising this coming week. Just have to get started and then it's enjoyable. Like me right now... i'm going... i really am...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/02/2009 11:20

morning all,

succumbed again to crisps and cake yesterday but did a little of my dvd, about 15-20 mins as Ds2 was crawling around trying to ull my trousers down.

Despite his pox i am going to get out this week.. harder with ds1 as he wanted to go into shops and talk to people and stuff but ds2 will just sit in his buggy whilst i walk. my mum works in a school and is on half term the following week so has offered to look after ds2 so i can go back to work.

Am hoping to get out for a walk today...

tessieb · 08/02/2009 11:33

Hi everyone

I've not posted for a few days, so a lot of catching up to do.

I've weighed myself this morning (first time in 2 weeks) and I've put on 1 lb!!!! Think it's a combination of no exercise, having a bad cold and feeling rubbish, comfort eating, awful cold snowy weather etc. Excuses, excuses.....!

I don't think it's the best time of year to lose weight. Sure my body is trying to hold onto all the extra fat to keep warm.

wheesht · 08/02/2009 12:43

Hi everyone.

tessie at least you have faced things and weighed anyway. Which means you are still going and havent given up! That pound will soon be a distant memory.

Polly The MoS dvd is the best exercise dvd I have ever tried (and I have probably tried just about them all lol). Great fun, hard going but worth it and the girl that presents it is very good. Not in any way annoying (unlike Davina - her funny little quips during her dvds cease to be funny after hearing them 99 times).

Had a family get together last night at one of my sis's houses as my bro is over from Sweden. Was VERY good! Resisted alcohol and all the cakes and puddings. Had a bit of pasta and salad which had counted.

Out tonight with one of my sis's. Playing our fiddles at a folk type thingy. Should be fun. How many cals should that burn up??

SilentTerror · 08/02/2009 13:52

Am feeling sluggish and fat as have done so little exercise this week, plus drunk more wine than I should have
Not put any on,but not lost either.
Am off out later for brisk country walk.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 08/02/2009 14:17

Just got back from a 1.5 hr walk with ds2 in pushchair. feel great as it is a lovely crisp day. it takes so much to get me out but once i am out i realise how great it is.

am starting a belly dance class on wedn so very pleased that means i will have 1 hour of guarenteed exercise a week and just hope the teahcer is good as have had some rubbish ones in the past.

wheesht · 08/02/2009 14:48

Belly dancing sounds like great fun My belly dances of its own volition every time I take a step tho

Countingthegreyhairs · 08/02/2009 14:59

Polly - that's a good idea which I actually hadn't thought of - Nigella has a good diet food section in 'How to eat' (although she doesn't like the word diet) that contains lots of Thai and Asian influenced recipes ... might point dh in that direction ...

Lisa - oh you have to have a bit of fun every so often - the party sounds terrific- it'll probably be easier to reduce calories now that you've got out and had a good time ... being in the right frame of mind is more than half the battle imo

MixedMama & Silent Terror - well done on "breaking out" and walking and lol at your ds trying to pull your trousers down Mixed Mama - as if trying to exercise isn't hard enough!!!

TessieB - don't worry - the 25th will be here before you know it and then you will have Easter as an incentive ...

Hope your back feels better soon Mrs Mattie

Oh how fantastic to be able to play the fiddle Wheesht - am green with envy - great way to lift one's mood I imagine ...also v. envious of your gym's weight-loss prog Wintersun - that sounds really good

Hello to everyone I've missed. Dh off travelling v. early this morning so I've been very virtuous today. Even managed to resist the oat biscuits I made with dd for her lunch box tomorrow ... so far anyway ...it really helps posting on here so thanks for the support everyone and good luck for the week ahead ...

Keep on trucking everyone ...

countesscaloriecounter · 08/02/2009 16:45

Pollygarter the Boots website does a free 24 hour subscription, so you can take a tour and see if its for you or not.

It has forums, a chat room, daily food and exercise log, weight loss graph, inch loss graph and also helps you make sure you're having your 5 a day and drinking enough water. It's quite motivating to see your progress on screen. Check it out, it costs nothing to have a look.

PollyGarter · 09/02/2009 09:55

Quick post before heading out. I'm on track with the lb a week thang. So it seems the PmK strategy is working in the same way as the more ordered approach. I'm happy with that.

Cheers Countess, will check out the boots website.

morning all...long night with ds2 last night so we got up rather late.....but am heading out for a walk anyway asi know i will feel more awake etc if i do it.

have decided not to go to WW anymore... I have been going cince April and know that it works but i am strapped for cash and would rather spend the fiver on my belly dance class to make sure i am getting some exercise in... still going to try to keep to it tho.

countesscaloriecounter · 09/02/2009 17:30

Mixedmama if you've been going to WW since April, then you know how it works and don't really need it now. You have us for motivation and belly dancing sounds much more fun.

Hope you enjoyed your walk and that you have a better night tonight.

LisaLessLumpy · 09/02/2009 19:01

Evening all

After my disastrous weekend I have been good today. I have had a low cal day and I have just done 40 mins on the cross trainer burning off 400 calories

I am hoping to do the same tomorrow along with half an hour of Davina in the morning when Ben has his nap

Wintersun · 09/02/2009 19:35

Mixedmama I started belly dancing last week and think its great fun
Its quite difficult and I'm not very good at it but we have a laugh and it definitely is a good work out! I'd stick to that and do ww by yourself.

Well done to all of you who've managed to resist temptation.

I've had a good day today but a not so good weekend. Hopefully I'll make up for it during the week.

SilentTerror · 09/02/2009 20:12

Very good today,and last night.
Did brisk walk and exercise bike session last night.
Today
Porridge with skimmed milk
Decaff coffee
3 glasses water
Tuna, spinach and watercress salad with cherry tomatoes and low cal salad dressing.3 glasses water.
Apple
Squash
Pork stir fry with peppers, spring onions and mushrooms, small amt rice.
Did 20 runs up and down stairs, vigorous hoovering/mopping,then just done 15 mins fast exercise biking.
I feel so much better when I do exercise, even just 15 mins a day or so.

LisaLessLumpy · 10/02/2009 07:24

excellent work SilentTerror

MrsMattie · 10/02/2009 11:11

Morning all.

Feeling quite pleased with myself this morning. Took DD to the doctor's (poor little mite, only 3 mths old and has a horrendous cold and conjuctivitis ) and jumped on the scales while in the doc's room ...and I have lost another 3 lbs since last weighed myself a fortnight ago. Very pleased. Means I have lost a total of 13 lbs in the last 6 wks. Not bad going.

Pollygarter - 1lb a week is great. Well done. Nice and steady is the way forward. I'm aiming to lose around that from now on, too.

SilentTerror - well done. Exercise is making a huge difference to the way I feel, too.

Wintersun - belly dancing sounds like fun!

LisaLumpy - I had a pretty crap weekend, too. Weekends are definitely my 'danger zone'. I had copious amounts of wine on Sunday night and tucked into an enormous piece of cheesecake after dinner. It was worth it, though

Back on track this week. I did succumb to a bar of chocolate yesterday with my afternoon cuppa, but I had a great exercise class in the morning and have got Body Pump tonight and aerobics on Friday, so all is not lost .

Hope you're all having a good Tuesday so far. It's pissing down here in north London. Grrrr.

LisaLessLumpy · 10/02/2009 11:39

Morning MrsMattie, well done on the weight loss

Its a beautiful sunny day here today, I have just got back from an hour and a half walk with DS2 and am feeling good, just treating myself too a hot choc options

I am hoping to do Davina tonight too.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 10/02/2009 13:17

wintersun - my dad is turkish so i have always been "into" bellydancing iyswim and i think that is why i like dance based exervise tbh. I have done some lessons before, but i dont really want to learn the details of hand movements etc which quite a lot seem to centre on.. my very first teacher was a lebanese lady who just put on the music and we got on with it... i have checked out the website of this new teacher and she seems to be a bit like that. A few of my classes have been with teachers who abit too arty farty about it for me. Fingers crossed it is tomorrow night.

Well done all, there are some awesome weight losses here.. i need to go and buy a proper scales if i am going to be weighing in without ww from now on.

countesscaloriecounter · 10/02/2009 21:41

Hi everyone

Am annoyed with myself. I've been so good. Done lots of exercising and ate well, and tonight have had some( lots actually) wine and BISCUITS!!!

So I've probably stuffed up any weight loss this week, Grrrrr! Talk about self destruction. It will now take a miracle for any weight loss to happen on Friday.

ARRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHH!

Good luck to everyone else. I hope you have more willpower than me.

LisaLessLumpy · 11/02/2009 10:03

Oh dear Countess... do you know what triggered it? maybe in the future if you know what your triggers are you could avoid them?

I will be struggling to stay the same this week too, and then we are at friends on Saturday and out for lunch on Sunday so god knows if I will be able to do a loss next week either I will just have to try and stick to one glass of wine and have small portions for dinner, will try and be strong

Yesterday:

cup of tea
muller yoghurt, med banana
1 and a half hours walk
hot choc options and a 2 finger kitkat
cup of tea
small bowl of sausage casserole, 2 nimble and flora light.
can of diet coke, 1 tea, 1 black coffee
Large salad with breaded mackerel.
2 glasses of diet tonic water.

hi ladies,

i'm back, can i re-join? Abu Dhabi was bloody brilliant and I feel utterly refreshed. Hope you all survived the freeze ok, I was watching on the news...

In some kind of middle eastern mystical miracle I managed to shed 1.5lbs in the week I was away. I did eat alot of chips so I'm in shock, but I did manage the gym 5 days out of 7. And had lots of fruit.

I hope everyone is ok and undervalued a big congrats to you, you're loss is outstanding!

xx

LisaLessLumpy · 11/02/2009 12:43

WOW Banana well done, you have done amazingly
Glad to see you back and that you have had a fabulous time
