I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

Hey all. I've got a hangover form hell today so have indulged in bacon and eggs this morning and am having a pizza tonight, too . Ach well, tomorrow is another day and all that . Just catching up with you all...

bananapaddlepop - My goal weight is 11 stone, but aiming to get to 11 st 7lbs by my birthday (end of March) and then the last half a stone by summer. That's the plan anyway

Countingthegreyhairs (and everyone feeling a bit disheartened)- there is always tomorrow. Seriously. I think I'm doing so well with this 'healthy eating/exercise plan' (refuse to use the 'd' word ) precisely because I am allowing myself to have slip ups and not letting them put me off starting afresh. I had a truckload of wine last night and am ordering hangover-cure pizza, but sod it. I've got an exercise class tomorrow and will eat virtuously this week. Nobody can be a boring old health freak angel all the time . I like Polly's motivational mantra, too! .

Wintersun - I can't stick to too healthy a diet when I'm pre-menstrual. I must have chocolate and wine. Write PMT week off, I say, and start again when you're feeling better. Think of it like this - it's how you eat/exercise most of the time that will affect your shape, not all of the time. We're allowed 'days off'.

tessieb - well done on the diet coke. I have broken my chocolate-every-afternoon-habit, and it feels good, doesn't it?

Well done to you, too, countesscaloriecounter and to everyone losing inches.

I love this thread!

Countingthegreyhairs · 31/01/2009 21:16

Thanks for the encouragement Mrs Mattie (hope yr head is better tonight) - I am slightly dreading weigh-in day on Monday -but you are right - we musn't get too down on ourselves else it just won't work.

Hang in there everyone!!

PollyGarter · 31/01/2009 21:33

Inside Out Weight Loss - Free weekly podcast is great. A brilliant stay on track tool and not too OTT American, iykwim.

LisaLessLumpy · 01/02/2009 07:59

Morning all

Weighed in yesterday and I have lost 1lb so another step in the right direction. I am doing a kick up the butt diet this week and will hopefully finally get some exercise in. I am hoping for a decent loss next week I have woken up with a bloody sore throat though when will this damn illness end!

Have a great holiday banana

TessieB - well done on the diet coke, I am still having at least one can a day. Have you noticed that it has made any difference?

Wintersun - well done on the two stone. I lost two stone last year and I think I had run out of energy by October to keep going. 2 months off and starting again on Jan 1st has helped me a lot

MrsMattie - I hope you enjoyed your pizza

Good Luck everyone for the following week, and thank you for your company, I'm so glad to finally find a topic where the ladies are keen to chat on a daily basis

PollyGarter · 01/02/2009 17:39

Hey Tessieb - diet coke is a thing of your past. Congratulations! No need to call up my clown friend.

PMk is going well for me, in that i'm definitely more focused and feel more in control of my weight loss than i've been on previous attempts. Then again, i'm a highly suggestible person - have had to be with my job. I like the fact that i can let my sub conscious deal with the nitty gritty and now that i trust myself, just eat as i like. All of this stands with the proviso that i haven't been doing the PMk properly until recently, as i'd combined it with other things to readjust my palate. (eg i'd never eaten grapefruit for breakfast until rosemary colney kickstart - and now love it every morning.) I'm finding the eating slowly quite difficult also. And i may start out eating slowly, but as the meal progresses, my mind is more on finishing quickly to get the pfb out of some scrape or other. I've managed to program the stopping before full though. And my portion sizes have gone down to about half what they were. I like the idea that you're programming your mind to have a good relationship with food that's not based on denial. I don't expect my losses to be bigger than a 2lbs a fortnight. And that's fine by me at the moment. So long as i'm not going in the other direction unless i'm putting on muscle! Just happy to be retraining myself. Anyway, that's me at the moment, sure it will all change again in the future!

Hey MrsMattie, i've read that that's perfect recovery food. Just what your body needs! Did you have a good class today?

Well done Lisa! Great going especially when under the weather. Have you tried downing berocca with hot water? I find that clears throat problems for me. You're another of the lost 2 stone already club! More inspiration! Fantastic! It must make you smile thinking about that.

Good luck to everyone for the coming week! Keep warm!

PollyGarter · 01/02/2009 17:41

And Mixedmama! Looking forward to our walk soon! Just let me know when's good for you.

SilentTerror · 01/02/2009 18:27

Not lost any this week
Haven't been exercising much though...
Also,2 meals out plus wine hasn't helped.
It is so cold that I cannot face outdoors,so will def do exercise bike tomorrow, and every day if possible.

tessieb · 01/02/2009 21:39

Hi all.

I haven't weighed myself today, sure I haven't lost anything! It's been a difficult week as I've had a rotten cold, so no exercise. I've been eating what I feel like (Paul McKenna), and trying to have (slightly)smaller portions. Must admit, there has been some comfort eating with feeling so rubbish, busy at work and the horrible cold cold weather we are having! At least not having diet coke still! (Can you tell I'm just so proud of that!)

Lisa well done for losing a pound. I'm definately less bloated now I'm not drinking diet coke (used to have at least 3 cans a day! Also, not needing to dash to the toilet as frequently and not as much wind!!! It's also saving me money as it isn't cheap stuff to buy. I've not noticed a difference to energy levels, but have had a vomiting virus and bad cold in January so hopefully I'll feel more full of energy soon.

PollyG, glad PMK is working so well for you. Does it get easier the more you try? Hope you and Mixedmama enjoy your walks together.

Silentterror the cold weather doesn't help at all! It's been snowing here since late afternoon and it is really really cold. At least you haven't put any weight on and hopefully will see a loss next week.

MrsMattie, great that you've stopped your chocolate in the afternoon habit. It is a good feeling to be in control!

Countingthegreyhairs, all the best for your weigh-in tomorrow.

This is a fantastic thread. There is just so much support and encouragement, so thanks everyone!

PollyGarter · 02/02/2009 09:05

Anyone brave enough to go outside today if they dont have to?

tessieb · 02/02/2009 09:38

Just so glad Monday isn't a work day for me! Just taken DS to school and it is so cold outside. I did have a dentist appointment this morning (dreading taking the car out) but just got a phone call to say it has been cancelled as the dentist can't get to work.

I'm supposed to be meeting a friend for lunch, but depends what happens with the weather. It's snowing heavily at the moment here.

Wintersun · 02/02/2009 11:52

Well done Lisa on your loss!

Banana - have a lovely time!

Getting up and dusting myself down for this week

I didn't go to work today as I don't think its safe to drive plus the kids nursery is closed anyway.

Didn't really have food in for today as I thought I was going to be at work but general plan for today is

toast
soup, ryvita
fruit
chicken, veg

Have a good day everyone.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 02/02/2009 11:57

busy weekend so lost the thread.. been rubbish again and this weather isnt helping...off to catch up

MrsMattie · 02/02/2009 12:47

Hey all.

Just trying to re-motivate myself today. My exercise class was cancelled and I have had an atrocious weekend of eating - pizza, fish and chips, chocolate, wine etc etc.

Today, foodwise:

Breakfast: Tea, 1 slice wholmeal toast w/ low fat spread, porridge

Lunch: baked potato & roasted veg ( needed stodgy carbs!)

Dinner; Thai red chicken curry with rice + baked apple + fat free fromage frais for dessert (Thai curry just made - tastes delish!)

Will try to get to gym tomorrow if the snow clears a bit...

Will pop back in for a proper natter xxx

LisaLessLumpy · 02/02/2009 14:30

Morning all

Not got anything to add except hello
Still not done any exercise but I am eating really well and hoping for another good loss this week

PollyGarter · 02/02/2009 18:25

Make it to see your friend for lunch Tessieb?

Hope you had a lovely day with dc Wintersun.

Hope work wasn't too arduous Mixedmama, and easy journey home.

MrsMattie, you have the most delicious menus. Baked apple sounds divine right about now.

Howdy Lisa!

Brrrrr. Just got in from a brief walk up the road. Rabbit casserole tonight. First time i'll have made it - so i hope it's ok.

If you're around MABS, just want to say, i hope you and your family are ok.

tessieb · 02/02/2009 19:17

We couldn't meet for lunch, Polly, due to the weather! The snow got heavier, the roads worse so just not a good idea to go out unless really necessary. Got a phone call from DS's school at 11.20 to go and collect him as school was shutting early. So, had a lovely afternoon (he had a friend over to play), and I actually got some exercise! OK, it was chasing 2 children around the garden throwing snowballs and pulling them on the sledge, but it all counts.

Is everyone else having fun with the snow?

tessieb · 02/02/2009 19:59

Almost forgot to mention, DS has just been invited to a swimming birthday party in a few weeks. The child's mum has asked for other parents to volunteer to go in the water with the children as they are all under 8 and it's a ratio of 2 chidren to 1 adult. If I was 2 stone lighter I'd love to go, sounds good fun. However, it's bad enough wearing a swimming costume when I don't know anyone in the pool, but with other parents from DS's class!!!!!

How slim and toned can I get in the next few weeks? (Or do I have to think of an excuse not to go in...)

tessieb - I feel your pain regarding the swimming, you wouldn't get me doing it either

Today

1 toast, 1 boiled egg and brown sauce
2 boiled eggs and 1 beef tomato
2 lamb chops and a salad of cucumber, spring onion and celery. Balsamic vinegar and a bit of low fat mayo.

(that is what the diet I am doing says to have (sort of) but on top of that I have had... 1/2 pkt wotsits, 1/2 slice cheese on toast (ds's leftover 3 jelly babies and half a glass of cava) Approx 1000 cals in total. Still not managed any exercise

Wintersun · 03/02/2009 08:21

What diet are you doing Lisa?

How many weeks to til the party, tessie?
I wouldn't go in either!

I've not managed to get to the shops but I still want to do that 3 day diet that I posted last week.

I'm a bit annoyed that the ds's nursery is shut today. Staff only live locally and there is transport. I feel bad phoning up again because I can't get in.

Todays food

porridge
soup, ryvita
chicken pie and veg

tessieb · 03/02/2009 08:41

The party is in about 3 weeks. DS v keen to go!

DS's school is closed today as well, Wintersun. (He's very pleased!!!) In fact, listening to the local radio, I don't think many schools are open today around here.

Lisa and Wintersun, you are both so organised with your menu planning. I'm just going to have whatever we have in as I can't get to the supermarket - no way am I attempting to take my car out! Walked to the local shop yesterday to stock up on basics.

Exercise for the day - snowballing and maybe sledging!

Wintersun · 03/02/2009 10:06

You can lose 1/2 stone in 3 weeks. It will make such a difference to how you feel and look too.
You may even feel more confident by then anyway

Planning works for me. If its written down then I know what I'm going to have so no faffing and nibbling on toast while I decide whats for dinner!
I also hope that if its not written down, then I can't have it. Doesn't often work like that though

tessieb · 03/02/2009 10:18

Actually, it could be the incentive I need! You're right, Wintersun, half a stone is very achievable by then.

Just had some more exercise - snow shovelling!!!

LisaLessLumpy · 03/02/2009 11:25

Wintersun - not sure what the diet is called but it involves lots of eggs and salad and fruit, but also steak two nights, lamb chops one night and roast chicken too. I lost 5lb in a week last time I did it and that was cheating too

If anyone is interested I can scan the sheet in and email it to you

Its a beautiful day here, lots of sun

PollyGarter · 03/02/2009 13:37

Hello
Glad to hear some of you are enjoying the snow and getting exercise at the same time!

Don't worry Wintersun, i'm sure there are other people forced to call in again today. I hope you're having a lovely day!

Hey Tessieb, do you go to the pool regularly anyway? if not, maybe a couple of visits to the pool before-hand will make you feel more at ease before the party. It's funny as even though i know that no one was actually looking at me, i felt so self-conscious when i went to the beach during the summer. Each successive time was easier, though! You'll be really busy looking out for the dc that you won't worry about it after the first couple of minutes anyway! But either way, def good incentive!
Have brilliant time sledging!!!

Enjoy the sun, Lisa!
