I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

countesscaloriecounter · 22/01/2009 10:01

Wintersun, if it's any consolation I stepped on the scales this morning and have lost nothing since weigh in on Monday!

You succeded in making me giggle when you said
'Food for today

Nothing'

Sometimes it feels we have to do that to lose anything. Sickening isnt it? But stick with it,and I will repeat the 'getting a tape measure and measuring yourself' comment I keep making. It really does help.

Banana, sorry you're still not feeling well.

wheesht · 22/01/2009 10:10

Morning all. Thanks for the welcomes

Site still down grrr. Will have to actually use pen and paper to log cals today. How many cals will that use?

Not a lot to do today so might manage to my exercise CD. Countess how many miles are you planning to cycle today? If you make it to 350 you might as well get on a real bicycle and come see me

Banana, hope you feeling better soon.

wheesht · 22/01/2009 10:12

Lisa hope you get over the cold too. Is miserable dieting AND feeling rotten. Double torture

countesscaloriecounter · 22/01/2009 10:28

Weesht I shall probably make it to a mile and then need prompt medical attention!

countesscaloriecounter · 22/01/2009 10:30

Wheesht sorry I can't spell. have to say your name makes me think 'Wee sh*t'

LisaLessLumpy · 22/01/2009 10:32

Wintersun - I am exactly the same as you its really crap isn't it!

wheesht · 22/01/2009 10:37

Rofl Countess Actually that name is probably more apt!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 22/01/2009 16:21

welcome wheesht.....

have been fairly good and stuck to points, no exercise except for Lilia dvd on sunday but stepped on the scales today and finally seems like it is actually moving down although taking no notice of the actual number as my scales are really rubbish and i have weigh in tomorrow.

wintersun: have done fruit and yog all week and have to say i do feel full for longer so thanx for that... this forum really is great cos i might never have done that if i hadnt seen you doing it.

My mantra is start again tomorrow if i have been bad that is the best piece of advise.

also measured myself on saturday so will do that too even though i have done no exercise.

today is day off and DS2 and I got up incredibly late so:

brekkie/lunch
3 turkey rashers
2 wholemeal pitta breads
2 heaped tsp of low fat humus
tomatoes

Nothing since then as that was 12 noon.

Dinner
Chilli and rice

Prob a coffe and biccies later and some strawberries or something.

Well done all and keep up the good work.

SilentTerror · 22/01/2009 18:32

Kitkat
Decaff again

Wintersun · 22/01/2009 19:45

Lisa Yes, it is crap. I just want to lose this weight and wish it would just hurry up and get lost

Mixedmama glad the fruit and yoghurt is working for you. It definitely keeps me full. The only reason I only end up eating a bit of toast is because I make it for the dss and I just can't resist a bit of marmite on toast. I don't actually need it so I should stop really.

Silentterror. Thats great you're feeling slimmer. I think you're about the same weight as me so I'm going to use you as a marker

Today I didn't eat according to the plan and had

fruit, yoghurt 1/2 slice toast
left over chicken and chickpeas stew thing
packet of ryvita bites
apple
yoghurt again
another 1/2 slice of toast
2 breadsticks

I'm sure there's something I've forgotten but that may be it.
I actually don't feel hungry at all so am not going to really bother with dinner.

This Lighterlife is fabulous!! Two weeks and a stone lost. DH is doing Atkins and has lost the same though. I will be joining you soon - when I'm allowed proper food again Good luck ladies.

bananapaddlepop · 22/01/2009 20:56

Well done undervalued, fantastic. Keep it up! (and your DH as well).
And you too RachaelSara- I think you lost too.

I'm still feeling snotty. Stuck well under my points but no exercise as I can't breathe through my nose at all. Starting to worry about going away to Abu Dhabi as I do want to continue to eat well. I've got 3 weeks till our friends wedding and I would like to lost another 6 pounds...I don't think I can do it without being really strict.

Anyway, good going everyone, keep it up.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 22/01/2009 21:46

banana - you will be able to continue to eat well. I went to Turkey for four weeks in August and did not deprive myself at all (and I really mean that) and I put on a pound in four weeks.

If you stick to chicken shish for the most part for evening meals you will be ok... anything grilled and there is a lot of that and salad (altho there is a lot of dressing normally) and loads of delicious fresh fruit.

Used up all my points today, when I didnt really need to, but didnt go over. Just knew I had points so kept eating.

PollyGarter · 22/01/2009 23:02

bessiebighead here; wearing my shiny new name.

Well done everyone on mostly sticking to your guns through these colder days and january illnesses and general malaise... and a big hello to whoosht!

I've redirected my portion sizes from their gargantuan proportions, over the last couple of days, and hopefully will have a better result at my next weigh in. But i've found myself eating more wheat products than usual - i think my brain thinks i should be padding up and hibernating. So no more of that thank you very much reptilian brain!

We can do it! Spring is on its way, and when it arrives we'll all be slimmer, energized, confident in our bodies, and even more focused than we are now.

Wintersun · 23/01/2009 09:42

Well done Undervalued! Thats brilliant. Good for your dh too.

Banana you can lose 6lbs in 3 weeks. You've got an excellent incentive. Just go for it.

I have a wedding in mid march. Its 8 weeks away and I would love to lose 14lbs by then! I'm really trying but its a slog.

Pollygarter - nice new name . Well done on reducing your portion size. Thats actually a big step.

I went to the gym last night and felt so much better for it. I'm feeling a bit more positive today and am ABSOLUTELY DETERMINED not to over eat on the weekends. I know thats a huge problem for me.

Any tips?

Todays food.

fruit, yoghurt
ryvita, salad, soup
Tandoori chicken, small amount of rice, salad/veg

Be good everyone!

bananapaddlepop · 23/01/2009 12:15

hello all,

thanks wintersun, you're right I do have a good incentive. And so do you - i love going to weddings. And mixed mama, the food does sound delicious out there and I do love grilled meat/fish and chicken shish etc. i'm going to be able to go to the gym as well at the beach club where we'll be.

polly (nice new name) I know what you mean about portion sizes. Since I've been eating mostly WW meals or Heinz WW meals I've realised what ginormous portions I serve myself usually.

anyway everyone, good luck and keep going. I'm going to try Davina tonight...

xx

MrsMattie · 23/01/2009 13:01

Hey all. Just popping to say 'hi'. I've been good on the exercise front this week. just as well as have had killer PMT and have indulged in chocolate and wine.

Monday - 1 hr exercise class
Tuesday - 1 hr in the gym (+ walked 30 mins there and same back)
Today - 1 hr exercise class
Tomorrow - going to the gym & swim tomorrow morning at 9am

I'm going to try to stick to 4 times a week minimum like the above, plus get in as much walking as possible. I think exercise plus sensible eating is the way forwad for me. I can;t stick to these faddy, very low fat diets.

Food today:

Breakfast: porridge with blueberries & banana
Morning: coffee with skimmed milk, water
Lunch: Grilled bacon & 2 boiled eggs + orange juice
Snacks: apple, rice cakes, water
Dinner tonight: Roast chicken, sweet potatoes & steamed green veg; baked apple + fat free creme fraiche, couple of glasses white wine (it's Friday!)

Wintersun · 23/01/2009 13:20

I bumped into a girl today that I hadn't seen in a while and she'd lost sooo much weight. When I started chatting to her, she told me that she'd done the special K diet for 6 weeks! She'd lost 1.5 stones and looked great.
However, she said that she was finding it impossible to maintain her weight loss and that everytime she now ate a meal, she was putting on weight and was feeling down about it.

MrsMattie, you're so right. I realised from that conversation that its true, the only way to lose weight and keep it off, is by doing what we're doing ie healthy eating and exercise. So, well done all of us!

countesscaloriecounter · 23/01/2009 14:26

Wow, everyone is doing so well. Great weight loss Undervalued, and you too RachaelSara.

Well, I've been using my exercise bike lots, and have a sore bum to prove it! Haha.

Wheesht recommended I joined Boots Diets which I have done as the Food Focus site is still down. They give you 1 free day to check it out and at the moment they have a 3 month offer for around the £13 mark, which is a pretty good deal. It's really comprehensive and great for keeping track of what you're eating and exercise. I heartily recommend it.

Keep up the good work. I am off out with the kids to Pizza Hut later. It's one of our foster lads 6th year anniversary of being with us and wants to go to Pizza Hut, so I can't really get out of it.I have been pedalling frantically on the bike to burn off some cals before we go!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 23/01/2009 15:21

Afternoon all...

Countess - i first want to say how great that is that you have a foster child... i think that is so admirable.

I had my weigh in and I lost 2lbs wooo hooo.

Now just 11 and a half pounds away from goal.

Am rewarding myself with a turkish dleight choc bar my boss gave me and may even indulge in take away tonight and then make sure i get plenty of exercise bike in at the weekend.

MABS · 23/01/2009 15:50

well done to you all , you are doing so well.

Banana - where you going in abu dhabi , i out that way a fair bit.

Have been crap on food and exercise front, ds ended up in hospital yet again, so i totally lost the plot.

whyme2 · 23/01/2009 16:06

Oh Mabs, hope your ds is okay.

I've been a bit weak willed since foodfocus went down. I didn't realise how much it helped me. I need to find something else which is cheap. Any reccomendations?
Undervalued - how are you finding the lighter life thing, I'm interested.

Have a good weekend all.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 23/01/2009 16:10

MABS - hope everything is ok and sorted and not too stressful. At times like that you are allowed to fall off the wagon.

MABS · 23/01/2009 16:14

thanks girls
