I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

bananapaddlepop · 20/01/2009 20:47

Speak tomorrow..

MrsMattie · 20/01/2009 21:32

Hi all. Feeling rally down today. Got killer PMT, my DS has been a nightmare and I caved in at about 3pm and ate a kitkat and 3 mini twixes plus 2 large glasses of wine. It was pure comfort eating. I did go the gym this morning and had a very healthy dinner (tuna steak, sweet potato & steamed greens), but I am really struggling to control my cravings, especially while on my period .

MrsMattie · 20/01/2009 21:33

I didn't have the wine at 3pm.

LisaLessLumpy · 21/01/2009 07:39

You are allowed when you are on your period in my opinion, I can't control myself then either Just start again fresh once the cravings have passed

mixedmamameansbusiness · 21/01/2009 09:26

Start again today...

Wintersun - the fruit and yoghurt seems to be working in terms of filling me up... I do like a coffee in the morning which is strange with fruit and stuff so am pushing the coffee to my morning snack.

Today:

Brekkie
250g peaches in juice
WW yoghurt
Coffee
At work now eating strawberries as i had no more fruit at home

Lunch
Have brought in 4 ryvitas, extra light philli, tomatoes and light coleslaw

Dinner
Salmon (mmmm) am inspired by the mention of sweet potato and salad

Wintersun · 21/01/2009 09:27

Hope you're feeling better MrsMattie. I always have cravings too when I have PMT. I usually crave toast and chocolate ie pure comfort!

Just get back into the healthy eating when you feel better.
Keep up the exercise as that helps you to feel better too.

I'm finding today hard because I'm really tired. I won't give in and I will stick to my healthy eating plan!

fruit, yogurt, 1 slice of toast
soup, ryvita
grilled chicken, new pots, veg

Good luck everyone. Don't give in. Remind yourself about how far you've come in just a few weeks and don't undo all your hard work

bananapaddlepop · 21/01/2009 10:55

Morning ladies,

Just back from WW and lost 2 pounds. Got my silver seven. Should feel more pleased but woke up with rotten head cold. Plan to snooze later when DD is at nursery.

Hope you feel better Mrs Mattie.

Well done everyone, keep it up. x

Great article Wintersun. Thanks!
Well done banana! Your holiday sounds perfect for this time of year where we're all in virtual hibernation!
Well done for everyone who's back on track!!! [grin}

Ds is down with something, and he doesn't like it when i'm on the computer so, not much chance to post at the moment. He's ok with me reading so i've leaped into a few books recently. I read Weldon's What makes women happy - and of course one of the things is food. And quite rightly so. She talks about body types and personality and also wrote about her own personal slant on weight loss, saying that what worked for her was treating the body as a temple, as it were. And only putting things in it that would honour and respect the construct which houses the soul. And this kind of fits in with the whole mindful eating method of the scottish hypnotist from enfield. Just thought i'd share it. As this weight loss lark seems to be changing a lot more than my shape at the moment. I don't know if it's for the better, or if i'm just a very suggestible person - either way- i'm looking forward to the day i can wear my little black dress again! Ramble over!

Where's the tea!?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 21/01/2009 12:50

Just on lunch..

am on track altho i just bought some potatoes with butter and mint from M&S to go with Salmon tonight and that has left me with 1 point left for snacks which is basically a cuppa coffee. Am going to try to have tea at work so that I can have a coffee later on at home.... i drink tea black so dont have to allocate anything but need milk in my coffee.

countesscaloriecounter · 21/01/2009 13:45

Well done on the weight loss Banana. sory you're not feeling so great at the moment though.
The food focus site is down at the moment which is a pain as I like to log all that I eat on that as it helps me to stay on track ( most of the time! )

MABS · 21/01/2009 16:50

well done to you all, I have been crap for 2 days and done no exercise, having done 14 days in a row before that. Not been eating badly, but just not losing weight Can't even use the excuse that it's my period either!

tessieb · 21/01/2009 19:27

I feel things are sliding with me at the moment. V hectic day at work today, so had 2 chocolate biscuits late pm (why are there always nice biscuits or chocolates at work?!!!). I felt so tired and hungry when I got home, that I've just had a large plate of pasta and a glass of wine - pure comfort food! I just seem to have more control over my eating and fit in exercise on days that I'm not working. I keep reminding myself how well I've done over the last 2 weeks, and I really don't want to ruin it all.

Banana - congratulations on getting your silver seven and hope you feel better soon.

Mabs - It can be hard to keep going, especially with this dismal cold weather. You don't have too much weight to lose, so I guess it will come off in smaller amounts. Are you measuring yourself as well? I find this really helps with motivation. If you are doing lots of exercise you may find the inches come off faster than the pounds!

Bessie - Hope your DS feels better soon. You (and your crazy clown friend) will be pleased to hear that I've not touched a drop of diet coke for over 2 weeks now! Feel very proud about this.

Mixedmama and Wintersun - you are doing well and sound so organised with planning meals and snacks. I really ought to try to plan ahead more.....

Countess - good luck with managing your calories with the food focus site not working.

bananapaddlepop · 21/01/2009 19:48

Oh Tessie, you're not sliding, you've had a hard day at work. 2 biscuits, not bad. A bowl of pasta and glass of wine, totally fine (god i love pasta!). Start afresh tomorrow and don't worry about it any further.

I've done no exercise today, feel sinus-y and rubbish.

Come on everyone, big healthy thoughts.
We have swimsuits to wear! xx

SilentTerror · 21/01/2009 19:58

Wanted to run tonight but too wet and cold!
Porridge for breakfast
coffee
plain thin biscuit, apparently 30 cals only
1/2 egg sandwich, vegetable soup, apple and kitkat for lunch
4 glasses water
Spaghetti bolognese
More water.
But not much exercise, although was my day at work today so on my feet for much of it(am a nurse)
Aim to dance and run tomorrow

countesscaloriecounter · 21/01/2009 19:58

We all get 'off' days when we're going off track, but LISTEN UP! We were eating this crap day in and day out before. Now we are being good for the vast majority of the time so it WILL work! We will lose this weight.

In the past I have stuffed up and ate too much for a couple of days, felt so disheartened about it that I have given up and stayed fat ( and got fatter!). It is not going to happen this time.

Have a bad day, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again. The weight will come off and we will reach goal weight.

Wintersun · 21/01/2009 20:30

Tessie - I find it actually easier to stick to my diet at work. I have given myself a blanket ban on all cakes and biscuits at work and have told everyone too so they don't offer me any.
I can buy a nice ready made salad or soup for lunch, go for a walk at lunch time and I'm sorted.

I find it hard at home as my kids want food all day long (they are pre-school)

Its definitely worth planning what to eat when dieting so you don't stray.

Don't worry about slip ups. Don't get negative and feel like a failure. Just admit that you gave in to temptation for one day and that you will get back on track tomorrow.

I'm not sure how well I did food wise. I had a few extras - I ate a little bit of pasta at lunchtime, I had one little chocolate-box chocolate, a few pomme bears and one biscuit. Hmmm.

On the plus side, I have just done an aero-biking class and had an early dinner at 6.15 and am not eating anything else today.

wheesht · 21/01/2009 20:34

Very inspiring CCC

countesscaloriecounter · 21/01/2009 20:37

Why, thank you Wheesht. So nice for you to come and join us.

wheesht · 21/01/2009 20:38

Merci buckets.

What a pita the site is down . Really wanted to log my weight loss. Typical - the first time I have anything good to put in the whole site implodes.

tessieb · 21/01/2009 21:05

Thanks for all your support and encouragement. Must admit, it was a pretty large portion of pasta with grated cheese on top - delicious!!! You are right, Countess, as long as we're good the majority of time we'll lose that weight. Feel a bit better now, relaxing in front of TV (ok, with another glass of wine, but that's it!).

Welcome Wheesht. Glad you can join us.

I'm off to bed soon. Think I could do with an early night, so I'll check in tomorrow. Take care everyone.

bananapaddlepop · 22/01/2009 09:15

Morning all,

just popping on to say good luck today everyone.

i feel cold-y so won't manage any exercise today apart from running around after dd.

healthy thoughts xx

countesscaloriecounter · 22/01/2009 09:20

dh has just bought me an exercise bike, so setting that up today and I plan on using it lots!

Hope you all have a good day and stay determined.

LisaLessLumpy · 22/01/2009 09:51

Hello weesht

I have hardly done exercise this week 'again' either, did Davina on Monday morning but have felt shite with another cold since then
Yesterday wasn't too bad but I did snack abit and its hard to keep count of calories.

For instance food wise if I had stuck to meals it would have been ok...

B - 2oz Cornflakes, HW and 1/2 spoon
L - Mug of carrot and coriander soup, white roll with beef and low fat mayo
D - small amount of rice and leftover chicken Dopiaza (homemade)

but combined with 7 chocolate buttons, 3 mini choc chip cookies, 2 nice biscuits, 3 meatballs a breadstick dipped in houmous bloody useless.

I will be happy with a stay the same this week I think and hope I am well enough to go full on exercise next week

Wintersun · 22/01/2009 09:53

I would love an exercise bike but unfortunately,I don't have the space for one.

Hope you enjoy it!

Banana I hope you feel better soon.

I feel a bit disheartened today. I got on the scales this morning and have lost nothing this week. I know I need to weigh in properly on Saturday, but I'd have to be really strict today and tomorrow to register a loss. I suppose its because I overdid it on the weekend.

I know everyone says that you should be able to lose weight if you're good for 80% of the time but, I swear, I only lose weight if I'm really strict at sticking to about 1000cals 100% of the time.

Sorry, moan over.

food for today;

nothing

Kidding.

fruit, yoghurt, 1/2 small slice w/m toast
salad, 2 ryvita
quorn burger or salmon, veg

Have a good day everyone!
