I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

at losing just half a pound. I know it is still a loss, but after feeling so positive all week... doing all the exercise and sticking to the points to still have only lost that amount is hard... i nearly burst into tears at the scales.

I got the inches rather than pounds talk and I know it is true, so wish i had measured myself last week.

Came on yesterday so that has messed it all up aswell. Back to next week.

bananapaddlepop · 16/01/2009 13:03

Oh mixed mama, you've still lost weight which is great. Try not to be too down. I know it's easier said then done. Get measuring for next week, I bet you're losing those inches.

bessiebighead · 16/01/2009 14:17

Hey, mixedmama, you know you don't generally see lb losses when you get around the 10st mark. Losses are exponential. So a half lb loss is very good. You must feel amazed at what your body is capable of at the moment though! Talk about hiking superwoman!

I'm doing the crunches too! Strong core and legs are what it's all about. The rest is icing.

Went for a wander around london zoo and up to oxford st this morning. Glad i got out early as it's looking a bit threatening now.

1/2 grapefruit&agave/crumpets
low cal tuna sandwich - for a perk up snack
lunch- left-over rosecolney hamburger & brown rice
lamb and parsnip stew
snack - yoghurt, pear

Take it easy everyone who's on. Take your iron and keep an inner smile. (Told you i had hippy tendencies)

bessiebighead · 16/01/2009 14:27

Hey rachaelsara, i haven't used the tablets before, only the dried husks which are kind of like the consistency of dessicated coconut, but then go all puffed up and wierd when mixed with water/juice. Let me know if the tablets are good, as drinking the husks is a strange sensation!

OP posts:
countesscaloriecounter · 16/01/2009 14:46

Mixedmama. If its your period at the moment too, then that stuffs up the scales. Next week will be a whole different story. You are doing great.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/01/2009 15:06

Thx ladies... nealry just went to McD at lunch (which I dont even like that much) as I was just so annoyed but managed to pull it together and get a healthy lunch from Boots. Am hoping for the results next week... back on it from tomorrow morning.

A podiatrist friend has advised me not to start running to train for Race for Life and to take up a different sport due to my foot problems... bit annoyed about that and going to go to my doc and see if I can get some advise about just a little bit of jogging as I really want to do it running rather than walking.

Thank you for the superwoman comment that made me smile.

MABS · 16/01/2009 16:59

mixedmama - i only lost 1 lb too! now am 9st 12lb and i have exercised every bloody day and eaten pretty well. Did hour of spnning todau, and 30 mins abs in gym.

LisaLessLumpy · 16/01/2009 17:30

Don't lose heart, it will have to show up eventually if you are putting the work in.

Today
2oz Cornflakes with hot water and 1/2spoon sugar
7oz Jacket potato with 1/4 tin tuna with mayo light and low fat spread.
Handful of grapes, apple, 2 cocktail sausages.
salmon steak and leeks with a tomato and chilli sauce.

3 cups of tea with semi skimmed milk, 1 black coffee, 3 pints of squash and I will be having one glass of white wine with dinner and probably another pint of squash.

Wintersun · 16/01/2009 17:39

mixedmama - TOTM defintely fluctuates your weight. Don't despair. Just keep going and you'll see a good loss next week.

MABS - you may have put on muscle weight and lost fat if you've exercising everyday and don't forget - 1lb loss is still bloody good! Its about 2 packet blocks of butter, isn't it?

I've done ok today but not managed any exercise. I've just an early dinner with the kids and am not planning on eating anything else except fruit if I get hungry.

Don't forget those crunches, ladies!

I've also found some exercises for bingo wings to do while watching tv too.
You sit up straight and hold weights/baked bean tins/water bottles and do some arm curls.

MABS · 16/01/2009 18:19

thanks girls, i am a bit pissed off tho! but wil think of the butter blocks wintersun. dh says my shape it changing, so thats a start

whyme2 · 17/01/2009 00:54

Hi all, just checking in - I've lost 7lbs which I am sooo pleased with. However my timmy seems saggier than ever now . . will have to do some crunches. I walk about 4 and a half miles a day.

Well done, Whyme!

I had a weigh-in this morning and was happy to see a 3lb loss on the scales.

My body shape is changing too. Its brilliant!

I'm going to the gym in a bit.

Food;

melon, yoghurt
soup, ryvita
meal out at a restaurant for a party

I'm going to have some fruit and a large glass of water before I go out so I'm not tempted to eat too much.
The prob is that its a set meal with starters and dessert. The plan is to not eat any of the bread, have half of the starter and dessert and leave most of the carb of the main course.
I've been to this restaurant before and their portions are huge.

Well done Whyme and Wintersun. Great results!

I'm just off to walk the dog...

Good luck everyone x

tessieb · 17/01/2009 09:48

Good morning everyone. There are some fantastic results, so well done!!! It's great that you all are so positive and feeling the benefits of losing a few (or more) pounds.

I've not posted much for a few days due to work. I find working days are just so hectic, and when I get home, by the time I've seen to DS, done tea, tidied up, put DS to bed, then I'm just shattered. I then go to bed early to make sure I can be up on time in the morning! So glad I'm not full-time.

Anyway, since I last posted I've been eating fairly well (the fairly bit is due to one or two chocolate biscuits at work - they were delicious!), but I've not managed to fit in any exercise since Tuesday.

The good news - I'm wearing a pair of jeans today that I've not been able to wear for a few months as they were too tight. They fit beautifully now, so I'm really pleased. Need to have a look through my wardrobe to see if I can fit into anything else now that I haven't worn for a while.

It's weighing and measuring day for me tomorrow, so I'll post the results.

LisaLessLumpy · 17/01/2009 09:49

Well done whyme2 and Wintersun

I have lost 2lb this week too, I still don't feel any different though I need to do some exercise this week, I slacked big time last week.

Morning ladies,

I am going to pop to the market in a minute to find a cheap tape measure as i am def going to measure myselff in future.

Have decided that TOTM is responsible so am resolving to be really good again and see what happens at fridays weigh in.. not gonna let it get the better of me.

MABS we are a similar weight... what are you aiming for ... I am aiming for 9st 7 by 21 Feb and then 9st is my WW goal which i would like to reach by summer...but would really like to get to 8st 7lb so i have a bit of lee way for gain from time to time.

Not sure i will fit in exercise today... but going to try.

countesscaloriecounter · 17/01/2009 12:58

Hello everyone.

Keep the results coming in. They are great!
Well, I went for 2 hour brisk walk pushing DS in his buggy, so feel good that I got to do that.

No other excercise today other than a mountain of ironing. ( groan).

My clothes are definitely feeling looser than before so I know it's working.

Have a great weekend everyone, and be good!

MrsMattie · 17/01/2009 13:22

Hey all. Going really well with the healthy eating & keeping active. I weighed 13 st 6 lbs on Jan 1st and weighed 13 stone exactly when I last weighed myself on Weds just gone . So 6lbs in 2 weeks - not bad (although treated myself to half a bottle of white wine and 2 Gu chocolate pots last night. Note to self: must not celebrate weight loss with fattening food! )

Going for a long walk later on and have planned a healthy veg stirfry for dinner (no wine!). Got friends coming over for pizza and wine tomorrow but got an exercise class and my gym induction on Monday (and will walk to and from gym which takes about half an hour each way), so wont feel too guilty .

Keep it up everyone! xxx

Wintersun · 17/01/2009 13:53

Wow! Everyone is so upbeat and positive.
Its a great thread! Keep it up

I just realised that, since this time last year, I have lost exactly 2 stones.
I was quite lazy last year and would only diet for a week or so and then stop for a few weeks.
This time I'm more determined so I can lose the last stone I now need to lose.

I had a good session at the gym and am trying really hard not to snack. Its hard!

My jogging bottoms, which I bought when I was 2 stone heavier, are now massive! Dh says I need to get some new ones as they look really saggy and horrible
and

mixedmamameansbusiness · 17/01/2009 15:49

2 hour walk... well done.

I went for 30 min walk with the double twin annoyingly heavy pushchair to Hampstead Heath... where i have never been before and i live about 5 mins away so will now try and take the kids there every weekend which will mean a definite walk for me.

So far have stuck to points

Crumpets for brekkie (anyone notice how much i like crumpets)

Lunch was a tortilla with tuna, extra low fat saladcream and sald with a few kidney beans

Snacks 1 WW mini muffin with tea and one packet of raisins

Dinner is planned as chilli con carne with small amount of brown rice altho i have a sneaking suspicion that DH may suggest take away... and i may cave, but if i do i am going for an hour walk by myself in the morning to burn it off and use my bike today.

Just wanted to share that since I made a resolution to use the stairs at work over the last two weeks I have not used the lift once and I work on the fourth floor and there are 16 steps per floor (yes I counted) very pleased i have kept to it.

bananapaddlepop · 17/01/2009 19:06

Mixed mama - I love crumpets too, two points for one with peanut butter. Yes please. I'd love to live near hampstead heath - lucky you.
Good going Mrs Mattie!

I did Davina again today, my legs could finally handle it after last time.

Well done everyone else, keep it up!

MABS · 17/01/2009 19:32

hey - i did lose 1 lb so i should now be 9 st 12!!

Mixedmama- i want to get down to 9st but apparently me target should be 9st 5 according to websites. I'm nearly 5 ft 8, how tall are you? you arev doing really well, many congrats.

I did hour body pump today, but that was all.

LisaLessLumpy · 17/01/2009 21:54

OMG ladies, I will; need to do some serious exrecise to burn off what I have eaten and drank this evening!

Lasagne and garlic bread and salad, followed by lemon cheesecake and double cream and a bottle of cava with slugs of sloe gin
I reckon at least 4 nights of 35 min XT sessions just to break even this week! I predict a stay the same this week unless I work my arse off on the exercise front.

bananapaddlepop · 18/01/2009 08:59

Good morning ladies,

Oh Lisa - sounds delicious! Write it off and have a good day today.

I'm going out for coffee with a friend today so will need all my resolve not to have a massive piece of cake.

Good luck everyone! x
