I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

Good morning all. Well, just got weighed and I've lost just 1lb. Must admit that I feel a little disappointed as I was aiming for 2. I've also lost half an inch from my hips. I think from Wednesday onwards my healthy eating has been slipping a little (coinciding with being back at work ) and I haven't exercised since Tuesday. So, next week I need to be more focussed and keep going. I've got 2 weeks till the end of Jan and another 3lbs to shift to reach my first target of half a stone.

Bananapaddlepop - be strong and I'm sure you'll avoid the cake! (Or could you just pinch a tiny tiny piece of your friend's cake?)

Lisa - sounds like a great night last night! I agree with Banana - write it off and start afresh today.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 18/01/2009 09:53

Today is a new day start again.

MAB I am of the 5ft 2 club (there are alot of us here).

Yesterday managed to keep to points, was up till about 12.30 which is very late for me but was reading in bed to occupy myself as i was feeling like snacking.

DH didnt suggest takeaway so i had a small bowl of chilli and rice.

Today have an odd meal combination.

Brekkie
Tuna, salad and kidney bean wrap and a coffee

Lunch
Leftover rice and tomatoes (odd I know my cousins and i used to eat this for a snack when we used to stay at my GP when we were little and still do it)

Dinner
Not sure - maybe a ready meal or some pasta as i stillhave some artichokes from the other day.

That should leave me with a fair few points for snacks.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 18/01/2009 09:54

oh and about the coffee... i take a cereal bar with me to have with coffee.... i can never just have a tea or coffee always got to have something with.

Wintersun · 18/01/2009 10:05

Lisa - your evening sounds delicious! I agree with everyone else. Start afresh today, and if you can, try to 'balance' out the over eating by generally eating less and exercising more for a couple of days.

Tessieb - well done! lb is great. Every lb adds up!

I had a good evening out last night. I tried not to eat too much but couldn't resist the chocolate fudge birthday cake with ice cream!
I really enjoyed as I haven't had anything as indulgent as that in about a year!

My plan is to eat less today and go for a long walk.

Can I just recommend fruit and yogurt for breakfast?
It seems to help me stay in control for the rest of the day, unlike when I have cereal or bread for breakfast where you get dips later and feel like snacking and eating.

I'm sure its something to do with blood sugar levels and gi stuff.

I've been having Yeo Valley fat free vanilla yogurt and it tastes delicious and really indulgent.

food;

fruit, yogurt
salad,hummous, ryvita
soup

Exercise - long walk

wintersun - have been meaning to ask about th fruit and yog - does it really fill you up... i just think that i will be starving.

You are not going to eat much today will you not be hungry.

bessiebighead · 18/01/2009 13:10

Wow, go away for a day and everyone's shrunk!

Had a bit of a doozy yesterday, as had thai and couldn't resist all the peanut dishes. Oh give me strength! Next time i'm having a tom yum soup and that's it. It's done, and tried to limit the damage by having a very small dinner.

Today oatmeal/agave
low fat cooked 'breakfast' for lunch
vegetable bake
yoghurt/pear/apple/cheese for snacks

I think my portion sizes are creeping up again. So I'll focus on that for the coming week, and keep up the sitting room circuit training!

Have a lovely rest of weekend!

Wintersun · 18/01/2009 15:51

Mixedmama - today I had a kiwi fruit, an apple and a satsuma and yoghurt. It was very filling. Sometimes I have half a melon or tinned peaches and a pot of yogurt and I always feel full.
When I was eating muesli, I used to get uncontrollable urges to snack so hardly lost any weight.

I think you get the same effect if you have say, eggs or anything else low carb.

The evening soup is more of a stew with chickpeas and sweet potato etc so thats quite filling too.

Anyway, I've not stuck to the plan today and had a picnic bar that dh bought me from his shopping trip this morning. If it wasn't there, I wouldn't have eaten it. Then I ate a sandwich. Grrr.

Its so much easier to stick to a diet if dh isn't around. I'm sure others are in the same boat.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 18/01/2009 16:10

definitely easier when dh is not around.. he thinks he is testing my resolve by putting temptation my way

well. menu changed but still sticking to points..... had a sardine curry thing and rice for lunch a very small portion tho... now eating my rice and tomatoes... had a cereal bar and will prob have a yoghurt or soemthing later.

wintersun - am going to try fruit and yog tomorrow for breakfast. will make a nice change.

bananapaddlepop · 18/01/2009 16:15

Ohh I'm in a really snacky mood, so on here trying to divert attention from the kitchen.

Mixed mama - tomatos and rice? sounds just up my weird food alley. I like vegemite with honey on my toast.

Wintersun - you sound so disciplined. Well done x

MABS · 18/01/2009 16:43

did brief gym sesh today, but then had a croissant!!! i blame dh, agree it's hard when he here.

bessiebighead · 18/01/2009 17:01

just got back from a walk in the woods - beautiful and crisp

ah... dh brings me a lovely cup of tea...

and... dh brings out brioche! grrrrrrrr!

i refuse to eat it. for a couple of bites it's over 300 calories.

what is it with these dhs?

i'm going to get a slice of low-fat cheese and eat it very..very... slowly

OP posts:
countesscaloriecounter · 18/01/2009 17:32

My DH is EXACTLY the same!!
However he did come with me for a long walk this afternoon to 'support' me. I don't know if he meant moral support or to hold me up as I'm so unfit!

Anyway it was a lovely walk. It's been a beautiful day here after the wild windy night.

I'm quite dreading the weigh in tomorrow. Although I have had only one slip up I don't think the scales are going to look good. I hope they pleasantly suprise me!

LisaLessLumpy · 18/01/2009 18:00

I jumped on the scales this morning just to see what damage last night did... it was showing 4lb up, I know that isn't a true weight but I just thought it would shock me into being good this week

DH is away tomorrow night so I am going to attempt 30mins of Davina in the morning when the boys are at nursery, or I may go for a nice long walk if the weather is dry, there is a good 5 mile circuit from my house taking in lots of hills etc, that will get the blood pumping. I may even take my camera and see what pics I can get, that will take my mind off the walking! Then if I can manage anything else after that, tomorrow evening I will try and do some on the wii fit

Today
2 slices wholemeal toast with raspberry jam and cottage cheese.
Sunday lunch at MiL's consisting of two thin slices of fillet steak, 2 roast potatoes, 1 yorkshire pud, broccolli and asparagus and gravy. For dessert fruit pudding with a sponge topping (delicious!) with custard.
Will be skipping tea as I never feel hungry after the lunch.

tessieb · 18/01/2009 19:06

My DS(7) has just told me that my tummy isn't as big as it used to be! He said it's still a bit fat though.

LisaLessLumpy · 18/01/2009 20:52

My son (15 months) sits on my lap and squidges his hands in mine it's not good, luckily I have no stretchmarks but there is alot of fat there

After my first pregnancy (normal birth) when I got down to this weight, my stomach was like it was pre-pregnancy. This time round (CS) its huge. I reckon I would need to lose at least another stone for it to go more normal.

bananapaddlepop · 18/01/2009 20:59

My daughter shouts big tummy at me when I get undressed. I do think it's hilarious.

I've just had one of those heinz ww meals and although it was quite tasty for a plastic dinner, I can't tell you how small the portions are. No wonder I'm such a fatty, my regular portions are probably 4 times the amount.

Are you all weighing in tomorrow? Good luck if you are. xx

rachaelsara · 18/01/2009 21:00

Hello All! Just done 20 minutes on the exercise bike I bought on e-bay this afternoon. My legs will kill tomorrow!

Had a horrible day on Friday, and rounded it off with a lovely evening but too much wine, then one thing ed to another, and before you know it, I ate pate and a whole crunchie! I'm doing slimming world, which is great because I can balance my gluttony over the rest of the week.

I'm watching half ton son now to strengthen my resolve.

LisaLessLumpy · 19/01/2009 07:45

Morning all

It looks like a Davina morning today, the weather is hideous here so I am not doing a 5 mile walk in the country in this Will attempt the walk on thursday if the weather clears up

tessieb · 19/01/2009 07:59

Rachaelsara I watched half ton son last night too. That poor boy! I can't believe how his mother helped him to get to that weight. Amazed that nothing was done to help him sooner.

Lisa and Banana - children are just too honest sometimes, aren't they? When I took my DS swimming he looked at me and said "Your legs are fat!" Don't know if you saw my post a few weeks ago when DS was giving me a hug and said "Mummy why are you so big? I don't mean tall, I mean round your tummy." At least he thinks my tummy isn't quite so fat now!!!

It's raining here too, Lisa, so I think I'll try to fit in a DVD today.

Good luck to everyone who is weighing in today.

bananapaddlepop · 19/01/2009 08:34

Morning ladies,

good luck today, especially if you are weighing in.

hopefully the rain will stop soon and I'll take the pooch out for a good walk, if not hello davina and sore legs.

countesscaloriecounter · 19/01/2009 09:36

Well, I've lost 2 lbs, making the total loss 6 lbs now.

Good luck everyone.

Hi everyone

Quick question (sorry to be dim about this)

Bessie - I know Monday is weigh-in day. Is the idea that we each cut and paste the entire list, adjusting our own stats. If so:

  • do we post start weight and Monday's new weight?

or

  • last Monday's weight then this Monday's weight?

(if that makes sense!)

I'm not usually this pedantic (honest!!)

Congratulations to everyone on their weight loss so far!

MrsMattie · 19/01/2009 11:28

Just adding myself to the stats. Fallen off the wagon yesterday and today as got my period and ate a big bar of choc and lots of wine yesterday. Got my gym induction today, though, so back on track.

I have just done Davina's 30 min Cardio Box section, it was really good and I now feel energised

Food today will be:

B - 2oz Cornflakes with hot water and 1/2 spoon sugar
Cup of tea with semi, black coffee, pint of water.
Just about to do lunch which will be
L - 2 boiled eggs and salad.
Going to MiL's this afternoon which is good as I won't snack on anything, also taking the boys swimming.
Dinner will be leftovers as DH is away for the night
D - Home made lasagne and salad
S - low fat natural yoghurt and blueberries.

I am also going to do some wii jogging tonight once the boys are in bed.

If I stick to all that I will feel saintly today
