I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

Thanks Bessie! Your comment about 'holding yourself back' rings really true with me ... I don't know why we make life so hard for ourselves ...(I suspect this is a very female trait) but your positivity on this thread really helps ...

LisaLumpy - I reallys sympathise - I work in an office with three (really nice) blokes but their difference in attitude (ie male attitude) was very apparent on the first day back after Christmas. They ordered in pizza for lunch (even worse than usual) and had cake in the afternoon .... they've been really "bad" this past week - while I sit there with my pre-prepared salad. I don't know if they are deliberately winding me up or they just refuse to put themselves through any discomfort ....!! None of them are slim!!

I'm not saying that anyone should punish themselves .. not expressing this very well actually ... rushing ... but jsut that men just generally seem more content/confident with their own body image ...hey ho ...it's tough when it's all around you though ...

Sorry for the ramble - hope everyone manages to keep on track today ...!!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 14/01/2009 09:40

Morning ladies..

Have name changed ti suit this thread, but I think you allknow its me as not drastically different, thanks Bessie for the idea.

I would like to say to Lisalesslumpy - my DH is Asian and has grown up on curry and rice for his whole life and almost refuses to eat anything else. So he definitely is not doing it with me. The WW website and magazine has great recipes and just dont tell him. Substitute whatever you are using for lower fat versions, so if you fry with butter do it with low fat butter etc. we eat tandoori chicken alot which had yoghurt i just use 0% fat yoghurt. In terms of the DC I do feed them the same as me when I cook a meal but make sure I give them lots of fromage frais and cheese and stuff as snacks so they are still gettin all the full fat stuff as well.

I would like to share with you all how good i feel this week..... I didnt go over my points yesterday either and didnt use my saved points from the other day or my exercise point that I earnt. This meal planning lark is really working wonders.

I am definitely planning from now on. I religiously have planned two meals for each day then work out how many points are left for the leftover meal and snacks. Feel so happy that I have managed to actually stick to it. Since starting WW I have never really been able to stick to it properly. Allowing the weekends off with just portion control to give me a treat.

Ok so today:

Brekkie: 2 crumpets and jam
Lunch: Undecided but thinking terayaki chicken sub on wheat bread
Dinner: WW recipe artichoke pasta (never eaten artichoke but going to give it a go)

Snacks
Apple and cereal bar

Good luck to you all..... everyone is doing well and to those that had a bad day... Start Again Today and forget about yesterday.

countesscaloriecounter · 14/01/2009 09:54

Am having an annoying day today already and it's only 10.50.
I went to go onto Asda on line to do a grocery shop only to find that the account has been suspended as credit card didn't pay for the shopping I had at the weekend! So i spend ages on hold on the phone to said credit card company to find out what's going on to find that they blocked my account a week ago as there was some suspicious activity going on on it. Now I'm all for them blocking a card and stopping fraud, but you'd have thought they'd have rung to tell me instead of me being left red faced with Asda becuase I've had a grocery order and not paid for it!!! Grrrr

Anyway, rant over. Normally on a day like today the chocolate would come out, but I am going to have a cup of tea and try to relax.

LisaLessLumpy · 14/01/2009 10:09

Morning all

Don't get me wrong about DH, he usually eats whatever I give him and that is usually the same as me just more of it. Just last night he saw the pizza and hasn't had any junk food for two weeks so just really fancied it

Today
2oz Cornflakes with hot water and 1/2 spoon sugar
Pitta bread with salad and corned beef, banana
Either toad in the hole with cabbage or something else not sure yet

Oh and some background... my mum ran slimming clubs for 30 years so I know what I should eat to lose weight etc, trouble is I have dieted on and off for so long now it is always a struggle now. I find to lose any weight I have to straight away go down to 1250 calories and if I ate the recommended 2000 cals a day (for a woman) I do put weight on I have always had skimmed milk, low fat everything for as long as I can remember so no way of cutting out any less there... I JUST NEED TO STOP SNACKING BETWEEN MEALS

bananapaddlepop · 14/01/2009 11:31

Hi everyone,

back from my ww weigh in and I've lost 5lbs. I'm happy with that, but I did have a lot of christmas puff and I was really strict this week. Helps that DH is away and I'm having those WW pre prepared meals
I did Davina last night and my arms and legs ache, it was really hard work. But felt better for it afterwards.

Got the sorbet (waitrose sicilian lemon - yummy) in for sweets tonight, looks to have low sat fat, probably full of sugar but I figured it's treat night and I've got all week till next weigh in.

Good luck everyone and I'm feeling so positive about all of this. I've got gorgeous size 12 clothes in my wardrobe calling out to me.

(Just looking down the list and everyone is doing great, keep it up!)

banana - congrats and big virtual hugs... so pleased for you.

I always have a treat on Fridays after weigh in... as you start again the next day.... iyswim..... so if there is a good time to do it it is tonight.

I have been trying so hard this week so really hope i see some good results... any loss is a loss, but really would like to see 3lbs plus, then get back to 1lb per week ish.

countesscaloriecounter · 14/01/2009 12:57

Congrats Banana that's brilliant. Well done.

bananapaddlepop · 14/01/2009 13:15

Oh thanks countess and mixed mama, you always manage a fair loss first week back on the ww. It will slow down now. xx

LisaLessLumpy · 14/01/2009 13:21

Well done banana [thumbup]

bessiebighead · 14/01/2009 13:59

Arvo all!

Thanks for the encouragement lovely ladies! I'm glad you get me Wintersun and Counting. I've been reading quite a bit of NLP and Quantum theory applications to life, and it feels like some baggage is starting to shift and making way for all of this 'good stuff' to come in. Very nice feeling.

Mixedmamameansbusiness She sure does.

I think i'll start posting my meals too.

Breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit with 1 tsp agave nectar,2 crumpets with a squeeze of lemon and pepper,1 hard boiled egg
Lunch: Pitta bread with cottage cheese, tbsp sweetcorn and shredded lettuce
Dinner: Steak and steamed veg
Snacks: Rachel's low-fat yoghurt, pear, herbal tea.

What a frustrating morning Countess. You bounced back well! Looks like that tea worked wonders. Here's to a smooth rest of week!

Hello Lisa, so glad to hear that cooking for everyone isn't an issue for you! Phew! It's just the dreaded snacking! Do you plan your snacks also? That might help?

Wow! Fantastic work Banana! Have fun tonight!

This may sound bizzare, but i've been reading about the idea of blessing your food and water before it's consumed. At the very least it slows down your digestion and makes you calmer when eating. But i've read that in this act, the structural composition of the water in the food etc... changes. I haven't read anything in detail and it could be a load of Quantum theory bollox , but i'm going to experiment with it for a while.

You made me look as well and I agree, Lisa you and your boys are gorgeous.

bessiebighead · 14/01/2009 14:54

Been reading a bit further into the 'water memory' lark, and it has been dismissed by serious scientists. Ah vell. Get back hippy tendencies... get back!

OP posts:
Wintersun · 14/01/2009 20:43

Just back from an Aerobiking class
Have been good with food today too.

Well done Bananapaddle! That must be very motivating.

Lol at Bessies water memory! Anything worth a try, hey?

rachaelsara · 14/01/2009 22:03

Well done all you losers!!!!! My SW weigh-in is tomorrow, but I keep hopping on the scales and it's up and down. This is probably tmi, but my low fat, hight fibre diet is making me constipated! Why? Really, why? I'm eating grapes, strawberries, satsumas, all sorts, so why has it happened? Do I need fat to smooth the way? Anyone been through this? Also, I haven't got any small clothes. I've been exactly this size for seven years in between pregnancies, so I keep worrying about clothes.

bessiebighead · 14/01/2009 22:17

Good one, Wintersun!

Hey rachaelsara, good luck for tomorrow. I had that problem when i tried Atkins about 5 years ago. Tried everything i could. More fat won't help. It's most likely that you don't have as much bulk to err.. get things moving. I ended up getting psyllium husks from the health food shop and that sorted me out again. It has a very strange consistency, but it's worth it, if it gets too bad. They're very good for you as they also lower cholesterol.
I can't advise you very much about clothes,as i lost my clothes panache the day i found out i was pregnant and have since degenerated into jeans and handmedown jumpers every day Maybe try the style thread - they're very good!

OP posts:
rachaelsara · 14/01/2009 23:02

Thanks Bessie! I bought some tablets in Asda to try, I took one this morning, and no movement yet! It's got to go before the big weigh! It's frustrating, I'm forcing down as much water as possible to try and swish it through.

With the clothes, I do like a worry, but my target is 9st, so I'm going to go through lots of sizes on the way down. I think I'll just have to buy one pair of jeans and one pair of smarts, or just a pair of black jeans and wash them lots! I'm not worried about tops, I'll just wash and tuble them too hot!

bananapaddlepop · 15/01/2009 08:19

Good luck today Rachael Sara, I hope you had some (ahem) movement. I find the water drinking really good for exactly this.

My legs are still killing me from Davina. I was planning on walking to toddler group today but don't think I can make it.

I'm going to be really strict today as last night I know I would of gone over my points. But it was lovely to have adult company and the sorbet was gorgeous.

Good luck everyone! x

mixedmamameansbusiness · 15/01/2009 08:42

Morning all,

Rachelsara - I find going down a dress size a good excuse for Primark if you are hoping to lose quite a bit as you can get alot for your money, and if you are going to need to be getting new clothes fairly frequently this is a good option. I used to be one of the most stylish people before kids... but that seems to slowly (very slowly) coming back with the weight loss as I used to live in jeans and t shirts and whilst i still wear alot of jeans and t shirts i do have some more interesting bits now.

Ok... so I didnt do my dvd last night but I did walk home from work, for those of you who may be in london or familiar with london i work in oxford street area and live in NW london... it took 1 hour 5 mins about 15-20 mins more than the bus. wAS carrying ds1 scooter all the way too... felt veyr good.

Went over points yesterday but had some saved so it is fine. I hope.

Today:
Brekkie - healthy fry up.... no frying involved. Quorn sausage, 3 turkey rashers, baked beans and tomatoes. Coffee

Lunch - Crumopets and jam

Dinner - mousakka, trying another ww recipe.

Snacks - am making ww mini muffins and will have an apple or something.

No real exercise planned.. will be off to toddler group which is a little walk.

Good luck all.

LisaLessLumpy · 15/01/2009 09:52

Morning all

Banana - I told you you would ache after Davina didn't I?

Rachaelsara - good luck on your weigh in, I hope things get moving for you.

Last night I ended up with sausage casserole for tea which was lovely and not calorific at all.

NOt sure what I will be having today, I don't feel much like eating. I put in a crumpet for brekkie but only had half, just had a hot choc options. No exercise for me today either, boys are in nursery and I am having a lazy 'me' day

In fact I have hardly done any exercise all week, must get my arse in to gear soon.

Hope you all have a good day.

Wintersun · 15/01/2009 10:20

Hi everyone

Rachaelsara - I get that at the start of a diet. I don't tend to do much about it as it soon 'corrects' itself

I just buy clothes from Sainsbury's or Primark for those in between sizes. I'm actually looking forward to buying some more 'quality' clothes when I get back down to my right size.

Banana - glad you had a nice eve. I love evenings like that. Its such a good laugh.

Mixedmama - thats a long walk! Well done. Are you doing it regularly? and I thought I was doing well by getting off at Liverpool st. instead of Bank to walk to work!

Lisa - enjoy your 'me' day ! do you have anytrhing planned?

Food for today
fruit, 1 slice wholemeal toast
couscous, veg/salad
pesto past which I didn't have yesterday

Exercisewise, I'm going to either walk to playgroup (1/2 an hr) or try to go to the gym.
The only problem with walking to the playgroup is ds2 ends up falling asleep on the way back and then he doesn't want to go to bed at his usual time. I need the kids to go to bed at 7.30 so I can get time to chill!

Good luck and be good everyone.

LisaLessLumpy · 15/01/2009 11:15

Nothing planned, I have been watching '24' since getting back from dropping boys off. I have had the DVD's for over a year and haven't managed to start watching them, thought it was time to

I'm feeling sad today as it is 4 years since my dad died and I just don't feel like doing anything

Wintersun · 15/01/2009 12:46

Sorry about your dad Lisa
I still miss mine terribly and its been 9 years here

Spend sometime remembering him, have a good cry then try to do something else. Hugs.

Hope you enjoy 24! I've never seen them but everyone I know raves on about it!

bessiebighead · 15/01/2009 12:50

Just checked in for a second as no nap time yet.

I'm so sorry Lisa. Just want to send you some good thoughts. The world is much better after a walk or a long bath. Can you do either? Will check in again if the pfb ever sleeps...

OP posts:
mixedmamameansbusiness · 15/01/2009 12:57

Lisa - sorry about your dad, and you wintersun.. must be hard.

I doubt that I will be doing that walk often, as I normally have to rush on the bus to get DS1 from nursery (annoyingly DS2 is with ILs as even tho he got a place DH in his wisdom decided he was too young to go to nursery - maybe he is 1), but so much easier when they ar ein the same place.. sorry off on my own tangent there. Sometimes DH can get there before me but normally doesnt let me know until i am on the bus, but last night i was just sitting at the bus stop and he called so i though why not.
