I've been lookinf around for the big day and you lot are a motivated bunch aren't you!

I'm not going on a frenzy before 2009, but know I won't make commitment beforehand.

Is there anyone else waiting for the new year?

If so, what method are you thinking of using?

Hi everyone,

I have lost 5 pounds on my first week, I think it's due to luck really as I have been really good with food (apart from today) but I had quite a lot of wine this week..its hard to curb the drinking...and didnt really exercise apart from wlking my dd to school, picking her up etc...I have been reading you are doing well !!!x

MABS · 11/01/2009 16:32

thanks Countess, i am a strange being in that i enjoy them! it's me time away from everyone else, that make sense?

Sadly i eat badly tho

mixedmama · 11/01/2009 20:07

Tessie ? well done and glad you are feeling better.
My target weight is 8 and a half. Aiming for 9.7 at the moment then will be 9st which is my official WW goal, but would like to get to 8.7 so I have a bit of room to put some on without worrying too much.

Lucky ? try to get as much exercise in as possible from the very outsey to try to avoid any flaps of skin. I am only realising this now and after DSs there is a very unsightly flap of a belly.
I am just weighing but that is only bcause I dont have a tape measure... it is a great idea tho as you may see results when the scales are showing none which keeps up motivation.
Lisalesslumpy ? great name!! This is by far one of the best groups I have joined. Everyone is using their own method, we are just trying to keep each other on track and tbh it helps to write down ?I done some exercise and it was good? so i know next time i dread it i dont need to.
Welcome Mabs.
Well done to everyone ? all positive.
So DS bday celebrations are over now. Was very good again today, one chicken leg (alot of olive oil but fairly small) four small roasties, salad. One small piece of bday cake and a couple of crumpets just now.
Tomorrow I will be counting points rigidly but really dont feel that I have overindulged this weekend at all as at no point have I felt bloated or anything. Havent managed any exercise, but am hoping to get some dance DVDs in tomorrow when DH and the kids have dinner at ILS.

LuckySalem · 11/01/2009 20:21

Right all, I weighed myself today and I think my scales are broke. When I first weighed myself I was 214lbs (which became 15st3 - I hope) today I weighed 207lbs.

mixedmama · 11/01/2009 20:23

You arent well tho so it could be.. fingers crossed..

LuckySalem · 11/01/2009 20:23

Converts to 14st 8!!

bananapaddlepop · 11/01/2009 20:27

Oh wow Lucky, what a great result. Keep it up! And you too summerfruit.

I just ate a weight watchers chocolate pudding and it wasn't too bad. A dollop of low fat creme fraiche and it would be even better.

LisaLessLumpy · 11/01/2009 20:28

Hi all, mixedmama and countessofmontecristo thanks for the welcome.

undervalued what diet are you doing? was wondering what LL is

I have done 10 mins jogging on the wii fit today and 25 mins on the cross trainer (nearly killed me, am so out of practice in Oct I could do 40 mins no problem!)

Not been great food wise, need to stop the bad snacking (3 biscuits, 2 pieces of dairy milk and a mince tart) Just had dinner of rib eye steak and veg.

I WILL NOT snack tomorrow. Plan to drop off the boys at nursery and do 30 mins of my Davina DVD (bloody hard work) then clean the house as much as I can before picking them up again at 1pm and hopefully another 25 mins on the XT when they are in bed

Wintersun · 11/01/2009 22:02

Hi Lisalesslumpy and Mabs. This is a good group and you'll have people to chat to everyday.

Not a great day for me today. Weekends are always hard for me!

I did however go very a 35 min brisk walk.

Not sure if I'll be reporting a loss tomorrow for the week but I know I've lost weight since Jan 1st so I'm pleased about that.

I'm still determined to shift 7lbs by the end of Jan (thats nearly 3 weeks so doable!)

Must try harder this week [determined emoticon]

bessiebighead · 11/01/2009 22:50

Allo All!

Well i got through today and enjoyed a little bit of dimsum. Some of it was quite oily, but didn't eat anywhere near as much as i normally would have. Back to where i want to be tomorrow.

Well done Tessieb on the lbs and the waistline! And excellent work on the no chemicals front!

My goal is 8s11 by 11th October. So a pound a week. I'd like to be at 10s11 by mid April.

Lucky You're going to look gorgeous at your wedding. And don't you dare let the idea of saggy boobs stop you! If that were ever to happen, it wouldn't be the end of the world . You just invest in beautiful supportive bras!

You're positivity is contagious Countess Yep, I think I'll start measuring myself tomorrow.

Howdy Lisalesslumpy. This is the one! And well done on the wii! 35 minutes is a great start back.

Aloha MABS Gym is brilliant once you're in the zone - i miss it. I love the feeling after a particularly rigorous workout, when you get clean and changed again and you can still feel the blood coursing through, and you feel quietly powerful. It's such a beautiful ritual. Ah! One day!

Undervalued,Well done on the exercise and WOW on the 6lbs! Yep, I've secretly weighed myself already through the week - but I've stopped as it fluctuates madly! I stepped on my dodgy scales before a bath and after a bath and then again five minutes later, and there was a good 5lbs between the readings. Must needs get decent scales!!!

Summerfruit 5lbs is brilliant! Jeez, what will happen when you start exercising?!

Well done mixedmama on navigating the celebration!

Banana low fat fraiche is lovely...

I just read my post through, and i read what i wrote to you MABS, and it's making me really long for that feeling again. I used to be physically strong. It made me confident and secure to know I could handle myself when i was out and about. I've been concentrating on the food side of things, but i think i have to wake up my body again. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it. But i'll sleep on it and see what answers i have in the morning.

mixedmama · 12/01/2009 09:13

Morning all

No time for personals... just loggin food for today.

Brekkie - weetabix with skim milk
Lunch - Been to Boots already and got sushi, have also got a coke zero, but will make this my only one this week.
Dinner - tuna steak with veggies and salad

About to have a coffee and special K bar and have an apple and banana on my desk.

Have meal planned my whole week for the evening meal so going to be disciplined.

Will be doing my latin DVDs tonight as well.

Good luck for today everyone.

tessieb · 12/01/2009 09:57

Good morning. I think this is a brilliant group and very supportive. Welcome to everyone who has just joined us. I think reading the messages every day is really helping me to stay focussed, so thank you!

Bessie - I want to be fit, toned and physically strong too. I thoroughly enjoyed my yoga class last week, though it made me realise how out of practise I am! Also, the extra padding around my stomach, hips and thighs got in the way when I was trying to do some of the stretches! Anyway, I'll be back there tomorrow. What exercise are you doing or are you thinking of doing?

Mixedmama - sounds like another well-planned healthy day for both food and exercise. Which latin DVDs have you got? I borrowed the Rosemary Conley Salsacise one from the library and am enjoying it. Managed to do it twice so far (the easier option, though).

Wintersun - weekends can be hard to stay on track. You did get some exercise, though. A friend of mine (who always has been beautifully slim) is very good during the week (eats very healthily and exercises), but at weekends always treats herself. She loves going out for meals and eats loads then! Guess it's finding a balance.

Lisalesslumpy (wonderful name!) - what do you think to the Wii Fit? Just wondering about getting one...

Anyway, better go. The supermarket beckons.

Have a great day everyone!

mixedmama · 12/01/2009 10:19

tessie - I have the Lilia Kopylova Latinasize and the Strictly Come Dancing with Kelly and Flavia. I am definitely investing in Latinatone by Lilia as well as I love her DVD but the warm up on the SCD is fab. I love dancing so found my niche with these, doesnt feel like a chore.

whyme2 · 12/01/2009 10:19

Haven't posted since last week. Sorry. But I have lost 4 lbs which is good. The weekend was not good for me though but back on track today.
I am encouraged by everyones posts. I got a lot out of the Paul MAckenna tv prog so I'm going to try and track down a copy of the book/cds.
I've also started using the foodfocus website which I've found realy useful and would reccomend to all.

countessofmontecristo · 12/01/2009 10:22

I am very pleased with myself this morning as I have lost 4lbs!
Best of luck to everyone else weighing in today.

That's brilliant Countess!

Hey Whyme don't worry about posting a certain amount. I think it's best whenever you can/want/need to really, otherwise it can become a chore. 4lbs is Fantastic, Well done!

Tessieb, I love yoga and feel great after, so i think i'll be doing a yoga dvd that i've had for ages, but not used very often. It's just a little problematic with a 1 year old climbing on top of me! I also want to get super strong in my upper arms and thighs. So i'm going to do reps of pushups, squats and tricep dips throughout the day, whenever i remember. I'll sneak in some ab crunches also. I would love to do something like mixedmamas dance dvds, but have come to realise that it wouldn't be appreciated by the downstairs neighbours! (I live in a converted terrace)

Well i weighed myself on my super dodgy scales and it came up at 11s7, which I'm super happy about as i started on jan 1st at 11s11. So hopefully, losing a pound extra now will help out when i could start to plateau closer to my goal.

i weighed in, im really upset as ive only lost 1lb. and as it my firat week I thought i would lose at least 3. people on here are losing 4lbs what are you doing differently to me? im sticking to my points 18 a day and eating healthily. I was used to eating loads of choc bars a day and really fattening foodssurely I should have lost more. sorry if I sound pathetic it's just made me feel like last week of dieting was a waste.

countessofmontecristo · 12/01/2009 12:48

ME23. I would really recommend measuring yourself as well as weighing as this will show you that you are indeed getting slimmer.
Stick to what you're doing and it will come off. Don't get disheartened about it.

mixedmama · 12/01/2009 12:55

ME23 - pls dont be disheartened your body might just take a little bit of time to get used to it, you will prob notice loads next week. If it makes you feel any better I only lost a pound

Have you been measuring and weighing, cos sometimes that is where I let it slide.

Very pleased with myself as I just went for a 30 min walk in my lunch hour and picked up some bits for my breakfast / lunch tomorrow which a WW thingy.

MABS · 12/01/2009 13:09

What a marvellous supportive thread. Me23 i lost nothing either, tho i've done 6 gym classes last week, and another today, have also eaten far better than usual. don't give up, sure will will peak this week.

Bessie , i totally relate to what you said re exercise making you feel strong, i have a disabled ds so it always helps me . Also i find the gym takes edge off my appetite a lot.

I try to do body pump 3 times a week for strength, also 3 cardio sessions and a spin class - which nearly kills me!

bessiebighead · 12/01/2009 13:22

Me23 Well done on sticking to your points and eating healthily! You've lost a pound. Not gained. Not even stayed the same. That's something to celebrate! Me, it's never a waste. Don't be so hard on yourself. There are so many factors when it comes to losing weight, that it doesn't always show itself in lbs.

When you look at other people losing four or so lbs it has everything to do with their particular make-up at this point in time. They may have been on a more rigorous diet/exercise combination - and their body may be reacting with a metabolism that is different to yours. It really is pointless to compare yourself to others, as we're all on very different diets. If you do want to up your metabolism, you can exercise more, and be aware that to begin with, you may put on more muscle weight, which in the long term is a good thing.

Out of curiosity, have you been doing the points for a while?

Hello Bessie - hello everyone - congratulations - you are all doing brilliantly ...

Apologies for my recent silence on this thread - I haven't posted since Monday 5th as I went down with a stinking cold (now recovered thankfully) and gave it to dd who now has a cough as well.

Thank you for all your kind words and support back then too (following the 'burger' incident!!)

Starting again this week as last week was a bit of a write off although I still tried to reduce portion size and avoid the chocolate ...and not a drop of alcohol passed my lips (but tbh I didn't feel like it so can't claim any brownie points there)

Weighing in today at ....oh no ... 76 kg having been 76.2 last Monday ... and not a drop of alcohol has touched my lips so thought it would be less than that but obviously counterbalanced by being in bed for best part of 1.5 days with a sinus headache ... buggeration!! Feel a bit embarrassed after you have all done so well but determined to make more progress this week ...

Countingthegreyhairs · 12/01/2009 14:59

oops - repetition - 'not a drop has passed my lips'

there's obviously something Freudian going on there ...
