I've been on it a year, lost 10 stones and have 2 to go...

OP posts:

Emotional - don't worry this happens (quite often). First time round I had 3 weeks of no change (despite sticking rigidly to the diet) Went in on week 4 about ready to give up and had lost 14lbs

LittleMonkeysMummy · 07/03/2009 08:25

Oh and hi Crunchie (love the name-must try to avoid them in reality though )

frazzledoldbag · 07/03/2009 10:18

emotional - just keep going. I remember getting very despondent one week because I lost no weight. Went in the next week and I'd lost 8lb. Don't know how/why this happens but it just does so don't give up.
Crunchie you made me giggle as I read your post as having 41 1/2 stone to lose and thought blimey! thankfully I think 4 1/2 is much more do-able. Well done so far x

undervalued · 07/03/2009 16:55

emotional - please don't be down about this. It was a pop in so the chances are that you will go to your group and be surprised to have lost 3 or 4 lbs. There is a danger with this programme that we expect too much and are soon disappointed. Please remain committed and the weight will fall off.
I have lost 33lbs in 8 weeks and crunchie (welcome ) has lost 27 in 5 weeks so it does happen. I have never met anyone that this hasn't worked for - unless they failed to keep on the programme. You will be slim and gorgeous for summer!!!
I,however, will still be fat and frumpy as I cheated last night and got lashed whilst out with friends.

justgaveup · 07/03/2009 23:53

I've not read this whole thread...it's long!!

I'm thinking about doing LL BUT I do a lot of exercise (well i think it is). I run 5miles 3x a week but 2 gym sessions with heavy weights....i'm a bit worried that there won't be enough food to give me energy for my exercise.

Is there any mention of exercise and how it might affect calorie intake etc?

wheredidmyoldlifego · 08/03/2009 23:31

LMM - how's Zoe now? And actually, how are you? Sick children is not something parents are ever trained or really told about when we have them eh?

Glad there's lots of action on here at the moment and so pleased there's loads of weight being lost. Great news and the best thing is all the positive vibes here. Fantastic.

Emotional - hope you've had a good weekend with lots of good thoughts and lots of water. Please do not make the same mistake as me - I am on week 5 and have lost about 10 pounds on my home scales as ruined the first 4 by doing great for the first 2 and then eating everything I could lay my hands on for the next 2????!!!! My excuse...stress!

But now I really regret it as I've just added another 3-4 week at least on to the eend and as I've ore than 4 stone to lose, I awas always going to have to do more than the initial 14 weeks.

So hope you've had lots of water and you're feeling okay.

LMM - hope you're okay and you're very sweet still checking on our blog. Had a lovely weekend with Leo!

h0ney · 09/03/2009 08:14

Is it worth doing do you think if you have a stone max to lose? (it is a very stubborn stone!)

wheredidmyoldlifego · 09/03/2009 11:55

Hi h0ney - think you can now do it on LL Light which is for those with 1 stone or more to lose - not sure what it entails; maybe two soups / shakes and a meal a day or something? For sure you'd lose the stone and after a couple of days of headaches perhaps, the end result is that the weight loss is steady and predictable as well as you feel great because you're having all your day's recommended vitamins and minerals, as well as loads of water.

Why not look at their website and see what they say about the Lighter Life Light programme?

h0ney · 09/03/2009 14:54

thanks wheredidmylifego will do xx

emotionalwreck · 09/03/2009 14:59

Hello lovely ladies!

Thanks for all your positive thoughts and advice. I did pretty well at the weekend (although not perfect). I skipped one foodpack and ate some chicken, veg and a spoon of mash during the evening, but managed to avoid all alcohol and the profiteroles that were put in front of me

Its group night tomorrow night and I do feel like I've lost some since the pop in on Friday so fingers crossed. Hearing about everyone's weight losses and lapses keeps me going, and my resolve is strong! [little strong man emoticon]!!!

LittleMonkeysMummy · 09/03/2009 20:09

Hi WDMOLG. Zoe's doing a lot better - now has inhalers and a nebuliser but they seem to be doing the trick! Doesn't help that the back teeth have started to come through as well - lots of sleepless nights

Glad Leo's doing well.

Was just the same at tonights weigh in. Amazed I was up in weight to be honest

Have a fab week everyone

emotionalwreck · 11/03/2009 19:57

LittleMonkeysMummy - great to hear your little one is on the mend.

I'd only lost 2lb this week and was feeling quite peed off but in real terms I've lost a stone in 2 weeks, and I wouldn't have been able to do that on any other diet!

Where are you all hiding? Its gone very quiet!

undervalued · 11/03/2009 20:07

I'm not hiding, honest!! Work is mad at the moment - really mad, and I always seem to have some extra class after school - bloody year 11
I weigh in tomorrow and have lost nothing! Could be worse! I'm due my period so am snappy and vile - and I used to put on about 5lbs, so I'm not worried.
Hope everyone is well x

GentleOtter · 11/03/2009 20:16

You have all inspired me to phone the local group (which does not start for a few weeks ) but well done for losing so much weight!
It is not the easiest of diets to stick to for the first couple of weeks.

undervalued · 11/03/2009 21:15

Welcome GentleOtter
Have you done LL before? It might well be difficult but it is soooo worth it.
Finally!!!

GentleOtter · 11/03/2009 22:28

I started LL nearly three years ago - all was going well and I lost a stone then began putting weight on and discovered I was pregnant.

I have about 4 stone to lose but quite liked the LL diet.

LittleMonkeysMummy · 12/03/2009 18:49

Otter - I was the same did LL for 4 months and had a spate of putting weight on (found out I expecting DD)

I've put on weight this week but doubt it has anyhting to do with babies (bloody miracle if it is ) More to do woth stuffing my face at any given opportunity!!

undervalued · 13/03/2009 19:04

I have oficially lost 2 and a half stone now!! One more to go Everybody has noticed now, and I have even told some people at work.
I like LL too, GentleOtter as it suits my needs - no weighing, counting or thinking...heaven
Come back everyone else - lots of support is still needed if we are to do well in this.

emotionalwreck · 13/03/2009 19:29

Way to go undervalued! Reading that has just stopped me saying a resounding yes to a glass of red wine! RED ALERT STEP AWAY FROM THE VINO!

Went to my pop in again tonight, and again I've lost nothing since Tues

However, Aunt Flo is due any moment so I'm trying my best to stay strong!

..... emotionalwreck strolls nonchalantly past the bottle of red wine, and makes herself a LL chocolate shake....

undervalued · 13/03/2009 19:59

Have you tried the porridge yet?
emotional - why do you like to punish yourself with the pop-ins??

LittleMonkeysMummy · 14/03/2009 08:41

Porridge is absolutely vile Not a huge porridge fan at the best of times but I was soooooo looking forward to eating something hot with texure - how have you found it?

Bubbaloo · 14/03/2009 12:25

Hi Ladies,
Congrats to all of you on your fab weight loss.
I've never done LL but I did the Cambridge Diet a few years ago and lost just over 4 stone in 3 months.I then fell pg with ds2 and put on an awful lot of weight and have about 10 stone to lose now.
I started the CD 2 weeks ago and have lost 10lbs already(not sole source),so very pleased.
I also have 10 sachets of the spicy tomato soup which I have completely gone off,so if anyone would like them, please CAT me and I'll send them to you.I don't want anything for them, they're all well in date(July 09) and it seems such a shame to throw them out.
Keep up the good work everyone.

LittleMonkeysMummy · 15/03/2009 16:29

Hi everyone

WDMOLG - how's Leo? Was reading your blog earlier (LOVE the new video - Zoe spent ages staring at the screen and waving to Leo!) Hope he's settled down a bit - they really know how to put the fear of god into you. Zoe's new trick is holding her breath whenever she sees her inhaler - she literally goes purple

Anyway, hope everyone has a good week. I know thi week will be crap as we have the school inspectors in this week - stressed, moi? You bet

emotionalwreck · 15/03/2009 19:07

undervalued you're right - no more pop ins for me!

I couldn't stomach the porridge either - smelt like formula milk to me. You know, when its been standing for an hour or so and you pour it down the sink (or is that just me )

LittleMonkeysMummy Hope the inspection goes well!

Hope everyone has a good week!

oggsdog · 16/03/2009 12:03

Emotional, how the hell are you!! You had another baby!
Have just checked back as I can't believe it's 3 years ago that I started that first Low Carb thread .
I'm fatter than ever, despite Low Carb, GI, GL and Cambridge .
Currently Low Carbing again
Good luck on LL
