Told you so
Brilliant WDMOLG!! Well done!!

MrsBrendaDyson · 13/02/2009 02:21

can i ask you how you just don't eat?

LittleMonkeysMummy · 13/02/2009 08:57

Congratulations WDMOLG and undervalued. That's fab!!

Mrs - The initial weight loss is a fantastic motivator and once your body goes into ketosis you no longer feel hungry. All a case of mind over matter to begin with!

wheredidmyoldlifego · 18/02/2009 23:44

Totally happy - 11.5 lbs in 2 weeks!!Woo hoo!

Have been bored quite a bit this week. DH off work due to half term so not as busy as I normally would be and also quite stressed this week so know exactly what my triggers are for wanting to gorge myself on all the wrong foods, but soooooo not going to go there.

Am going to start a savings account to save a bit each month so as 1st August, I am going to go out and spend, spend, spend.

How's everyone going?

LittleMonkeysMummy · 23/02/2009 19:46

Well done WDMOLG!! That's fantastic!

I've had a crap week - was Zoe's first birthday so Have eaten a load of crap over the weekend. Was still down 1 and a half lbs this week though so it'll probably hit me next week!!

Am actually quite chuffed as that is now 3 and a half stone!!

Good luck for the rest of the week.

Amy

Back from my lovely holiday and yes, I cheated!! Healthy food is hard to find in the US (didn't look too hard).....
Back on track and weight loss is good this week - 5lbs already!! (makes up for the 4lbs I put on ) I found food very disappointing to be honest - the beer tasted fabulous though
3 and a half stone is fantastic LMM, you are quite an insiration - I hope to have lost that by the end of my 14 weeks.
WDMOLG - I see you have the lovely sensation of losing weight quickly, very well done on your weight loss. Wait until week four when you are measured...I had lost 11 inches!!
I wish you all well this week, and will keep an eye out for postings x

emotionalwreck · 27/02/2009 22:49

Hello ladies! I wondered if I could join your thread? I started LL on Wed and had my first pop in tonight and had lost 5lbs. I'm so chuffed but finding it a real struggle. I'm sure you'll all reasure me it gets better!

You all seem to be doing really well!

StudentMadwife · 27/02/2009 22:53

DANGEROUS DANEROUS DANEROUS...if this is that satchet diet im thinking of.
dont do it to your body

LittleMonkeysMummy · 28/02/2009 08:28

Welcome to the mad house emotional. Keep going because it is really worth it!! I found that once the first week was over it got A LOT easier! Your DD's are gorgeous by the way

Madwife - thank you for the concern but this is a support thread. Everyone here who is on LL has had to get medical advice and support from their GP before they started.

Sycamoretree · 28/02/2009 08:37

Student - it's not any more dangerous than being life-threateningly overweight without a way out. My GP heartily recommended me onto it. You are monitored monthly.

I am in "recovery from LL - I have been in mgt for over a year. Have only put on half a stone of my 4 stone loss.

My big plea to all of you doing this is PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO MANAGEMENT! It's 10 times more important than even this losing weight bit, seriously.

97% of dieters put on all their weight and more within the first year. This programme has more success as it offers you counselling for free in perpetuity to help you keep it off and address your ISHOOS around food.

My counsellor reckons it's a 5 year re-programming of ours brains at the least...

Good luck all of you!

undervalued · 28/02/2009 16:32

Well said LMM. I, for one, feel better than I have for years - from my weight to my skin and hair. My blood pressure has fallen to normal limits, I no longer get heartburn and my symptoms of diabetes have totally disappeared! This programme has been anything but dangerous (or danerous, according to student) Student, there may be another threat which appreciates your idea of support, but it's not this one.
Welcome emotional. The first week is very difficult - weekends are still very hard for me, but you will soon see and feel the benefits so it will motivate you. I promise you will feel excellent by the end of week 3.
I have just started week nine and feel fabulous. I looked at normal sized clothes today (now a size 14) but still unable to buy anything - I want to be a 12!! My wardrobe is nearly empty but I did manage to wear my skinny jeans today -
Good luck to all of us - summer is on the way and I am looking forward to not being the fat one in the corner!!

emotionalwreck · 28/02/2009 19:13

Thank you ladies!

StudentMadwife - as an "almost" health professional you might be interested to know that the LighterLife programme is considered by NICE to be Grade A evidence for the successful treatment of obesity. (I have been a qualified nurse for 15 years this year, and work as a clinical nurse specialist).

Ahem, anyway now that I've got that off my chest I can get down to the nitty gritty of getting to know u all. It would be good for me to know how you all copew with cooking for the family cos thats the absolute killer for me at the mo!

undervalued · 28/02/2009 20:08

Oooh, I didn't know that!! My doctor is very impressed with my weight loss, as much for the change in my mental attitude.

That's where your mantra comes in emotional Remember; there is nothing you cannot have, you are choosing not to cheat and you are controlling what goes into your mouth. Try and think about what you will look like when you have lost weight. Buy a fabulous dress and hang it on the front of your wardrobe.
I have a lovely dress which I covet from Monsoon. I went in the shop today and tried it on - another stone and a half and it'll be mine!!
My DH has been doing Atkins since I started this programme, so I have woken up to the smell of bacon and sausages every morning. It has been hell but everytime I put my clothes on I remember why I do it.
This thread has been very positive too because we are all at different stages and there is always someone further on than you - helpful for support and advice.
DH does most of the cooking now, to help out. Works well for me.....

Sycamoretree · 01/03/2009 13:22

Ladies - Can I join you for a while? I'm doing a version of week 2 of route to management to try and drop the bit of weight I have gained before the summer. Still going to group everyweek, but would appreciate somewhere else I can come for a bit of a boost when it gets tough! (every day, ha ha!).

undervalued · 01/03/2009 13:31

Of course Sycamoretree... you're most welcome.
I am having a tough time at the moment - forever hungry. I have a feeling that my mind is trying to trick me
Where is everyone???

Sycamoretree · 01/03/2009 13:32

Probably trying to divert themselves from the fridge!

undervalued · 01/03/2009 13:54
Grin
LittleMonkeysMummy · 01/03/2009 17:27

Oohhh.. you lot are psychic!!!

Stood in front of the fridge for ages this afternoon, opened it and found....

....absolutely bugger all (which is just as well as I'd probably have eaten anyhting I could get my hands on!!)

cheekysealion · 01/03/2009 17:31

are any of you doing cambridge diet?

undervalued · 01/03/2009 21:52

I think we are all on Lighterlife Cheekysealion. Are you doing Cambridge?

emotionalwreck · 01/03/2009 22:37

I know exactly where you are all coming from today. I cooked a small sunday dinner for my bloke and DD1 (age 3). My other half left some pork fat on the plate and I picked it up, put it in my mouth and....

spat it out again I could have cried. I'm only on day bloody 6!

How much did you all lose in the first week, adn has anyone had to cope with their birthday whilst on LL?

Sycamoretree · 02/03/2009 15:46

Emotional - I did Xmas on LL....you just have to tell yourself, there will be many, many other birthdays. There is only this one unique opportunity to do something amazing for yourself.

Postpone your birthday for 6 months (not kidding!). Think about the fact that the notion of celebrating for you is centering around food - you can celebrate in lots of other ways. Good luck!

undervalued · 02/03/2009 18:39

I lost 9lb in the first week and 5lb in the second.Others lost more!!
Don't feel guilty emotional you didn't eat it and even if you did, it won't affect you too much.
sycamoretree good advice, not quite sure how you managed xmas - I think I would have cheated like hell.
I'm fed up with 'being on antibiotics so cannot drink' or 'I feel a little off colour so cannot eat' Oh the lies - no-one knows I am on lighterlife except my husband and people in my group. Sorry for the winge - I am still motivated but this is bloody hard.

LittleMonkeysMummy · 02/03/2009 19:26

Emotional - I lost 11 lbs the first week.
I did my 30th on LL as well as Christmas and New Year (very hard but I managed - God only knows how).

Undervalued - itis very hard. First timeround I didn't tellmany people (as you said the excuses wear outpretty quickly). This time I've told most people and so far I haven't met with any negative comments.

emotionalwreck · 02/03/2009 19:28

sycamoretree you are so right. My DP wondered how we were going to celebrate my birthday without food being the central theme, but I've suggested a group of us go 10 pin bowling. I haven't played in ages and if people want to eat they can, but it won't be obvious or awkward if I don't.

And undervalued I'm going on a conference at the weekend with a colleague who knows I'm on LL, but its 2 days all expenses paid in a hotel. Which means I'll have to lie about having a dodgy tum and being on anti-biotics to everyone else. My colleague has actually suggested that I order my meals, and she'll eat them as well as hers! Mind you, she is a size 8 and struggles to put weight on! And we went to the pub for lunch today and I watched all my colleagues eating the usual pub grub whilst I ate a toffee bar and had a sparkling water! I'm feeling quite proud of myself! Weigh in tomorrow...

Winge all you like - I'm guessing we're all going to find it very hard some days. Is there noone else you could confide in? Surely people have noticed you losing weight?
