HecateQueenOfGhosts · 29/01/2009 08:01

Can I just say hi to fedda.

You won't know who I am, we don't seem to pop up on the same threads but I remembered you recently from a thread yonks ago and when I saw your name pop up in active convos I hotfooted it over here to say hello and ask how you're doing these days.

starbear · 29/01/2009 20:41

Fedda I've been collecting them over the previous week. I did/do get some odd looks from some shopkeepers.
As you know I dropped out of the thread (regretted doing so!) How did you lose the 7kgs?

fedda · 29/01/2009 22:55

Hi, HecateQueenOfGhosts. how nice of you to remember me. I wasn't doing well but I decided it was enough of that and I started my new/old sensible eating sort of plan - no more white flour rolls, bread, hot chocolate with cream on top and pringles nonsense, yes to fruit, veg, soups, normal meals, etc. I'll let you know whether I keep it up but I'll try my best. How are you?
Starbear, you are back and that's what matters. How I lost 7kg? Well, it wasn't easy but it was even harder to remain the same weight and that's where I've lost it. okay, loosing 7 kg - I tried different things, not just one. i read French women don't get fat book and I tried to have soups adapting the idea to my life style, I didn't have leek soup more than once as I couldn't stand it but I tried different soups for lunch based on vegies without pots. I had large helpings of my home made salads like toms, cucumber, red or yellow pepper, grapes and lemon juice from fresh lemon with a drop of olive oil - I had this with variations for my meals. I had a diet no carbs after 5 which was really good but after a months I couldn't carry on as it meant having different accompaniment to the meat / chicken / fish from the rest of the family and created a bad reaction from my DH. It was the most sensible diet though and if in your family it's okay to stop having pots, rice and pasta after 5 you'll feel the difference really soon. I did and for a long time after I stopped the diet my weight stayed the same which I find incredible. I was also walking quicker and dancing often in the late evenings when nobody could see me and have a good old laugh. the thing was, because I lost weight, I found myself moving quicker totally naturally without forcing myself and I also found myself happily bending for things which before that was annoying thing for me to do. So, because I lost weight I could remain slim as I was quicker and more active since it was easy. After a while I got fed up with the healthy eating. Soups and water were making me going to the loo more often and breaking my nights and I was also constantly thinking what would I eat next which was distracting me so I went back to eating whatever quickest I could have and the rest you know - step by step I gained my kg - first one, then two, three and five, I can't remember when it was four, it just jumped from 3 to 5. I decided, enough is enough, it's silly, irresponsible and uncomfortable. My clothes which was so free is tight now and I can't wait to get rid of trousers and slip into my skirts which are elasticated! it doesn't sound good so I need to go back to a healthy life style. I'm not into no eating or slim fast, only soups, etc although I respect that many people are and honestly, whatever works. I don't go to gym, only if I'm in a hotel and it's part of the package as I think it's too pricey and not so fantastic for me, again, good luck to everybody who likes it. I don't join any light weights or any other groups which are popular but I love this thread and I found some wonderful friends here. thank you everybody for your support, understanding, kind words and everything you are doing and writing. Good luck to everyone xx

HecateQueenOfGhosts · 30/01/2009 07:46

I'm fine thanks. Plodding along . Good luck with the healthy eating plan. It's so easy to slip back but you will get back on track.

starbear · 30/01/2009 08:44

Thank you for bring me up to date. Very interesting. I have alot of the same dilemmas as you. Did you think 'French women don't get fat' book a good guide?
I've got the morning without Ds so apart from the normal household things.
I'm about to do the following try Nell McAndrews DVD, sit-up videos & drink water. Maybe grilled chicken, pots (for DH) green beans and salad.
How is everyone else doing?

fedda · 30/01/2009 10:37

French women don't get fat is a good book. I enjoyed reading it and I met some French women who didn't deny themselves things I did at a time but they had a very different concept of how to eat them. They were eating elegantly, slowly, rather holding a conversation and having a tiny bite to sample. At the end, half of the cake wasn?t touched and they'd elegantly put it in the napkin for a later time. I just eat non stop and only stop when I can't eat anymore. Even with salads it's easy to stretch the stomach and when you stop healthy stuff you'll eat the other things in greater quantities. That's my real problem - I eat more than I should. Anyway, I had hot water with lemon juice from fresh lemon, now I'm having some dried fruit and nut mix and I'm going to make veggie soup. Fish with pots mad salad for dinner. Good luck everyone.

starbear · 30/01/2009 16:58

Disaster at the gym. Opened my bag and found I put an odd pair of trainers in the bag They are both white and look the same from the heels as I grabbed them (one for Gym one for muddy running!) I couldn't go out in odd trainers! It will remind me to always pack a swimsuit for these occasions.
Did Nell McAndrews DVD, very good will do it again.
Did the French book talk about how french women dress? I think they look so together.

fedda · 30/01/2009 17:42

Yes, they dress the way they might meet someone so even if they go out of the house to put the rubbish, they'd still be elegantly dressed just in case - at least that's what the book said. Sorry to hear about the gym. I had a little dance yesterday - diso type. Hopefuly will do it tonight as well.

fedda · 30/01/2009 17:43

I meant disco type, sorry.

kidsrus · 30/01/2009 21:47

oops just ate some healthy fruit and nuts (covered in not so healthy milk chocolate).
week been fairly good for me. my afternoon snacks have been a yummy home made parsnip cake (3 points a slice).
evenings mainly chicken with different veg.
tonight it was chicken and pasta in low fat cheese sauce (home made)
my dh seems to lose weight on his crap diet of coco pops, cheese and pickle sandwich, chocolate, crisps, same evening meal as me and loads of biscuits where am i going wrong?

fedda · 30/01/2009 22:16

It's a funny thing about weight. Sometimes a get a surprise weighing myself and seeing I've lost 1,5 kg in one day without any reason and sometimes I do everything right and the weight stays the same. I think it's a lot involved including how we feel - happy or stressed and also sometimes it takes time for the weight to register to what's happening. One thing I'm sure about although of course I can be wrong - even if your DH is loosing weight his diet wouldn't be a good one on a long run and a more healthy diet would be more beneficial but of course everyone is different and i know people who stick to shop bought meals, most from the cans and they are healthier than me so who is talking?

kidsrus · 30/01/2009 22:27

i know what you mean but what really annoys me is im so tired when i healthy eat and dh is so full of energy i feel there must be something wrong with me. i could easily sleep 10 hours a day but i make myself get up and get moving then i wont sit down all day because i know if i do i will fall asleep.
perhaps its my ageor the kids or just plain couch potato syndrome

starbear · 31/01/2009 15:24

kidsrus Had this conversation with DH earlier. He is a PE Teacher. He said you must raise your metabolism and put you calorie intake into deficit to burn fat. So you must include some hard exercise even if it's only in burst within your exercise programme.
So with that in mind you've got to get off the couch (sorry to be harsh )
So with that in mind today I have earned
hot water with lemon 5p
Circuits 10p
Swimming with Ds 5p
Crackers instead of bagel for lunch 5p
kidsrus One day at a time but it has to be today.

starbear · 03/02/2009 19:55

Blown off course this week with the weather and the blob! How are the you all doing?
Had a day with Ds & DH unexpected and we had a lovely time in the snow but end the day with pie and Hot chocolate! back on course as soon as the snow disappears

Fimbles5 · 04/02/2009 17:15

kidsrus · 08/02/2009 23:01

just seen this on another thread:

Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

kidsrus · 08/02/2009 23:04

Also thinking i might put £1 in a jar for every 1lb i lose that would be £52 a year if i lost 1 a week. (a night at a health spa!)

starbear · 09/02/2009 09:50

fedda, blimey well done! haven't got any where near that. Starting again today. Kidrus, I might follow suit and put in a pound for a pound lost to add to my 5p's.
Ds seems a bit poorly today. Speak later!

Fimbles5 · 09/02/2009 20:41

Go Fedda Go!!! I am so pleased for you. At last, a positive post - keep up the good work. You will look fab for the summer. Kidsrus - Your 'One pound of fat' post sums me up a treat, I am miserable if I only lose a 1lb and hence I end up gaining more. But at least after reading that I will think differently from now on. Aiming for a pound loss this week
