Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

vg I feel the pain re the bread.
So far
1 weetabix (but have been to buy grapefruit so will replace with that from now on.

lunch
small sushi pack (no idea if that is a healthy option, but figured it was better than a sandwich.
then few cubes of melon.

Stomache rumbling like crazy
not sure if it is all in my head.

hotterpotter · 29/06/2009 15:09

No1 a lot of it is in your head so have a drink of water and think about something else! I have found it amazing actually how I can ignore rumbly tummy and it just goes away. Plus, for the first time in ages I am actally properly hungry at mealtimes because I haven't been picking all day.

Oh flip, hungry now

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/06/2009 15:18

lol yes I have been drinking the water, I am aware that most of the time all it takes is a drink.
I am not going to snack while waiting for tea, will be starting it soon enough.

I have this book that aims at just a 6 minute work out in the morning, very good excersises, mostly all pialtes moves which are great for core stability.
It states everyone can find 6 minutes in a morning........... I agree, until this morning. I didn't have the time to wee this morning, as had shower, washed dried hair, picked up after dcs a hundred times all to get out of the house for 8.15 so he could go to bed after night shift. ( after dcs been uo nearly every hour, could have stayed in bed)
All best intentions, but no way could I fit in that 6 min this morning.Have made up for it though ahve pushed the tank containing two very heavy children for a long walk.
Also plan on going in gym tonight when dcs are in bed

alittlebitshy · 29/06/2009 16:21

well I ended up out for lunch - dh sent me out for some time on my own as it is day off and both kids at home. . I had a chicken salad. all v healthy but there was a small amount of coleslaw and i ate the bit of baguette they put on plate [blush[. for me this is good though as i'd previously have had a v coalofirc sarnie followed by cake plus vanilla lattes. I had a totally fruit smoothie which i now wonder if it was too calorific but hey.

sazzles when you;re not totally sure on how much of something you had or if it is quite right do you guesstimate on food focus? I am liking it so far. it keeps a track on it and makes me stop and think.

I have to be careful i don;t get into the denying myself of feood too much cycle cos i have a history of eating issues which always plays on my mind when I am trying to lose weight.

Well my discovery on FF is that a pitta bread is actually as many calories as a slice of normal evil bread. I for some reason thought pittas were fine & lacking in evilness, NOT SO ladies, so do not stuff your lunchtime tuna & salsa verde into one, oh no no no, chuck it onto a bed of sorrel & rocket instead.

AND to discover that my whole breakfast of grapefruit, banana, yoghurt, coffee w. skimmed milk is only slightly more cals than one slice of toast even BEFORE I've slathered it with butter & jam (old days of course) so down down down with the evil wheaty one chez Gardenia and up up up with healthgiving, beautifying foods instead!

What a pain that chap cancelled, but hey at least you have a sparkling house!

hotterpotter · 29/06/2009 23:14

VG I think the thing about a pitta is you can cram it full to bursting with many times more healthy salad than you could get in one slice of bread, so you can have a decent filling meal all wrapped up. Plus the amount of chewing they take must negate at least 15-20 cals

Have been good again today, cereal for brekker, an apple and some cheese (not too much) for lunch, then chicken pepper pasta with low fat cream cheese and some cherries for pud. Tummy rumbling a bit now but am going to have a drink of water and go to bed.

Seems strange to be busy in here, but lovely We'll all be foxy ladies before too long, well we are already but you know what I mean

sazzles i think what I was trying to ask was that when I am inputting what i ate, and for example if I'd cooked macaroni cheese (tomorrow's dinner) how do i work out how much i ate? I know how much of each ingredient i put in but how do i work out how much i personally devoured?

I can't be pfaffed with weighing my salad so i'll just asusme i have a portion of stuff .

One of my worried with FF is that I will get obsessed with calorie counting. Not great for someone with a history like mine.

How shalll i factor in treats? cos I know i'll crack if i don;t.

and i can't decide what to do re friday night takeaway. have it and undo lots of good work? do an alternative (though i particularly like it cos it means dh and i get to eat later than the kids and also i don;t have to cook (other than simple meal for dc).? or?

Sultana bran for brekker again today. Am hungry now. may need to have a fruitty snack...

I am so stressed by this losing weight lark. i was feeling wobbly and weak with hunger before lunch. feel better now, but keep having mild panic about lack of treats (read stuffing face sessions).

Will i last the journey?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/06/2009 15:01

sazzles that make great sense and is a huge help. re saving for later in day.
I have checked this ff out and have logged in and find it a great help.
albs I think you might be a bit like me (forgive me/correct me if I am wrong) as soon as I satrt with the whole 'diet' thing I start thinking about food all the time and when my next meal is coming iykwim. So I am using this ff thingy to actually see the quantities of what I eat. ie what I eat for the sake of it, what I eat straight after eating a meal etc...
for eg if I have sandwich for lunch, I always feel this has to be served with a packet of crisps.
So now I can either swap the crisps for a healthier option, or.... still have them, but save them for a time in the day when I am feeling hungry genuinly sp? like sazzles says
I must admit when you look at contents/calories it does make you think twice if you REALLY want it or not.
I can't deprive myself because thats when I fail. So healthier options, smaller portions, occasional treats and MORE EXCERCISE is the way I am going for now. Hope you made sense of all that rambling

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/06/2009 15:02

I am riding again tomorow too.

I have done well today on the food front, and managed to sqeeze a bit of pilates in while dcs were asleep this afternoon, didnt get to finish off,but at least I did something.
Felt a bit peckish earlier so had anothe rglass of water. Feel ok now.
Just need to get these two in bed and I may join them.

hotterpotter · 30/06/2009 22:02

ALBS if you are getting stressed could you ease yourself in gently instead? Just cut out some treats instead of all of them, or replace with something a bit healthier like fruit? You can do it reeeeaally slowly if you want to, and will probably stay off better that way too. Finally don't worry too much, the health hazards of being a bit obese are really not as bad as they are made out to be. Personally I'm just doing this so I don't sweat like a fat lass every time it gets a bit warm

Been good today, due to a lie-in and unexpected visit I forgot breakfast so had cereal for lunch, then oven baked fish and chips with salad for tea. Back to work tomorrow so have healthy salad all ready

hotterpotter · 30/06/2009 22:03

You're doing well No1, am still over the riding though!

VintageGardenia · 30/06/2009 22:10

Weekly Weight Wowzer:
I love weighing myself last thing at night because I know that miraculously in the morning I will weigh 2 pounds less. How does it happen? I don't know but I love it!

Just added that to my list of recipes to try. Noticed I have your salsa verde one of my list too. Will do that next week/ at the weekend as it looks so easy and yummy and looks healthy so can maybe heap it onot the pasta .

Have noticed that I am not starving when i wake up in the morning. That is good.

I was hungry yesterday eve so I had a bowl of strawberries with a bit of yeo valley fat free strwberry yogurt. Was yum, and when added to my food focus chart i was still within limits. Bonus.

i was talking to dh about my takeaway dilemma
I think we're going to stick with having some when we feel like it on a friday night) but I may insist that we have separate rather than sharing and mixing and matching so that I can keep control. or maybe not . But i think I will crack and won;t manage to lose weight let alone stick to healthier eating if i don't have some foody things to look fwd to.
