Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

OP posts:

Well, it is weeks since I've been on, but it's great to hear that everyone is making good progress.

I have been thinking of the thread, but it's hard to remember to find it when it has fallen off my 'threads I'm on' list.

I've lost another three pounds, so only 7 to go to get to the weight I was before I was pregnant.

Tricks so far: less bread, virtually no butter, fruit or trail mix for snacks instead of silly stuff and no eating in the evenings. We only have a drink on Friday and Sat anyway so that isn't too big a deal ...

Also, I've found that thinking about my heart and cholesterol has helped a lot. If a woman can only have 20g of saturated fat a day and a single custard cream has 2.2, it doesn't seem worth eating it ...

Sunny weather though demands icecream and we live 2 minutes walk from a shop that sells 99s. Sharing a large 99 with three small children seems to be the answer there.

Got to go as DD1 is demolishing a bookshelf.

hotterpotter · 06/06/2009 22:48

Wow Red (makes me think of Katherine Hepburn) only 7lb to go that's fantastic! I definitely agree on the bread thing, there was no milk for cereal this morning so instead of going to the shop I had two slices of toast with butter and marmalade. Was absolutely divine but probably 4-500 calories.

Also I must confess that my giving up crisps lasted for half a glass of wine, then I helped DH eat a 225g bag of Doritos. Over 500 calories each . Have done better tonight though, instead of stuffing all the pizza at tea time we saved some for drinking snack and ate extra salad instead. It was very nice. I am really determined this time to make it work.

Gosh your risotto sounds gorge Sazz. We have kedgeree tonight which I think of as Risotto Lite.

I am 7 pounds off!!!!!!!! Well I was at first weigh-in this morning. However still 7 pounds to go to pre-preg weight and still 2 stone after that to be reasonable. however am delighted with loss so far. And well done you, Red!!

Hotter there is no way a Dorito can be 500 cals . Cunning trick re. pizza and bulking it out with salad, I do that too, you get nice pizza taste and virtuous light-hearted salady feeling. Is your DH in on the game too?

Sazz your point re. size etc is really interesting. We are constantly told by women's mags size 14-16 is normal. I am size 14-16. I am three stone overweight according to my chart. At the same time the mags put women in bikinis on their front covers with red circles and exclamation marks and arrows pointing at tiny curves of flesh. Makes no sense.

Sazzamatazz the lamb etc sounds pretty good with tons of salady things too. I ate WAY too much kedgeree and two buns afterwards - they were my Apprentice treat. I didn't think Yasmina was going to win! She seemed nice on the Adrian C. thing. She looked lovely too. Preferred Kate with straight hair. (OK I realise it's more about their business skills...)

I am zack same - nothing to do with crisps and choc. Tis all about the mahoosive suppers!

Good luck on weigh-in tomorrow!

I have my ma and SIL for lunch tomorrow, we are having salmon with your salsa verde. It's all I ever eat these days!! But they haven't had it. Tiny taters for them and mound of leaves for moi.

Oh Sazz but at least you have not gone up from last week. I too did a cheeky mid-week weigh this morning, knew I shouldn't before I stepped on, 3lbs up from Friday. Grrr! I'm sure most of that is water retention from my excessive toast-eating yesterday. Oh but it was delicious, coated in butter and marmalade . Only had one and a half slices of cake too!

Have been good today - cereal for brekker, salad with tuna and feta cheese for lunch, chicken curry for tea, no snacking.

Also came across the No S diet on another thread and like the sound of it so I am doing that but being quite careful about what I do eat as well as when/how much.

VG your loss is also amazing I hope you enjoyed your salmon today and didn't round it off with pastries/cake!

Come on girls we can do this

oopsacoconut · 08/06/2009 18:51

Hi I'm just lurking in guiltiness (is the even a word?) but just wanted to say...

Sazzles - Muscle weighs more than fat you may well be losing fat and gaining muscle with all the exercise you are doing. The way to gauge is but seeing how your clothes fit, are there bits that are looser? baggy bottoms in your trousers etc..

GO GIRLS GO

VintageGardenia · 09/06/2009 09:03

Heart up, Sazzles, the first couple of weeks are normally the best loss - I found the same. And I found last month my period was a definite bloater.

Salmon yesterday was yum but DP nearly fell over with the smell of garlic from me last night!

You are doing really well with the exercising Sazzles, that is one thing I am not really managing to fit in. Once I am back at work I will be walking 3 miles 3x per week and hopefully once I settle in will be able to find time to go swimming at least once a week. It all depends on how early I can get up and set off to Leeds.

I'm doing well on the eating front after the weekend, not had anyone offering me cake or biscuits so no real temptation but I have managed to avoid lovely buttery toast too and gone for the fruit bowl instead. Got weighed again this morning , really shouldn't, but I was 13st 7lb There must be something wrong with the scales as that is 6lb down on Monday morning. It can't all have been water-retention can it??? Maybe some more scales are needed (although I quite like these ones ).

Great stuff HP and Sazz. Did you reweigh HP and check up on those 6lb? Great news if you are down that much but is also a very rapid loss so also take care.

Am in for long haul too, Sazzles. Your menu sounding good. Thinking of stir fry for dindins too, chicken for us. Between ds2 and me we are just gobbling fruit, tis costing me a fortune, have to restock today AGAIN. He's mad for blueberries atm and they are a brutal price. Even fair trade organic bananas good price though. Strawbs, rasps, etc trying to get loads in while in season though soft fruit v tasteless at mo.

Went to yoga last night with ds1. He enjoyed it (though was only child there) and conked out during relaxation, so was a bit bemused when he came to & the lights went on etc. Was v good to stretch out properly.

Someone wallop me over the head to get running again, please. Haven't been for a bit & need to get arse shifted.

No time to go over to other thread - later. x

Well it's weigh-in day today and...3lb off last Friday making 7lb down!! So I guess Monday's weighing was the aberration rather than Wednesday's . Note to self - do not get weighed the day after you have overdosed on birthday cake and buttered toast!

Sazzles that is gross - 117g fat in 1 pizza that's half a pat of butter. Now I won't know whether to or at pizza any more! Your day's eating sounds virtuous and you are doing so well on the exercise front. I wonder sometimes if my weight loss is due to my muscles just withering away so am trying to walk a bit more. Roll on next week...

VG - GET RUNNING Was LOLing at your DS1 falling asleep at yoga too! Have you tried frozen blueberries? Not quite as nice as the fresh ones but fine with cereal/yoghurt inmuffins and much cheaper

Now then Sazz, don't lose heart, you probably just need a poo or something

Even so, you know you are doing a brilliant job and your minor plateau will return to a downward slope next week. Why don't you enjoy the weekend like you were planning to and then don't get weighed again until Friday. I bet there will be another couple of lb gone by then .

3pm is my weekend time, there's a cupcake in the kitchen with my name on it, and for later a lovely bottle of red wine

Off to use up some nervous energy on the roads now...

Well I have fallen at the hurdle of temptation already My Grandma came over yesterday with some chocolate biscuits and I have had two this morning, and half a tube of pringles last night. It's sausage breakfast day in the hotter house, then I will do my best to return to sensible eating

RedLentil · 14/06/2009 17:42

Good news on the pounds down Hotter.

And the loss over time is fab Sazzles-your body is managing your weight loss really well.

The long haul will be about balancing your diet over each week rather than worrying too much about individual days, and your exercise regime is so impressive.

I've lost another 2 pounds so only 4 to go. I'm feeling much better I have to say and much less hungry too.

What I find is that I have hungry days where then I'll use things like spelt crackers or nuts and seeds to fill up and then less hungry days where I won't. If I'm hungry I eat.

If I avoid snacks in the morning I can be good all day. If I have anything at 10 the day is lost to nibbling...

Oh and
'Run, Forrest, Run.'
I cannot run without passing out after a pathetically short distance. You are inspiring me to try again through.

RedLentil · 14/06/2009 17:44

where then ???
