Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

Oh have been 'zipping' my tummy quite a bit too, thanks for the tip!

VintageGardenia · 24/06/2009 23:29

I am facing same problem with damn Frenchies having such blardy irrestible fatty stuff. BUT there will also be lots of gorgeous fish and think of things like big complicated tomatoes which are so dull here and so yummy over there. For eating out there will be tons of salady things with lovely fresh sardines or tuna - depends where you are going but there is plenty to get excited about I think! Breakfast is usually a problem, so damn bready, but there should be lots of fruit & yoghurt and lovely coffee.

Hots may the force be with you at the buffet tomorrow - eat a couple of things very very slowly and really enjoy the taste of them. Don't take loads, wolf it and scarcely remember it - the lure of the buffet is strong but YOU my friend are stronger.

Now I am going to bed so I had better zip it (geddit!!) night ladies tomorrow we are all a leetle bit lighter.

Was very good at the buffet - no crisps or biscuits, only 4 small triangle sandwiches and lots and lots of fruit. Like you sazzles I am finding it surprisingly easy to resist temptation. Just need to learn to drink a bit without immediately heading for the crisps and then too bread the day after. Although, feel like bacon butties obligatory after the comments of our founder member

I hope you have dropped a biggish chunk of weight both of you, you really deserve a reward for being so good Am personally hoping for at least 1lb off, have been really good during the week, hope it makes up for the weekend...

That's spectacular Sazzles well done!!! How long till your holiday now? Just 1lb to meet your first big target - must feel great to know all your hard work is paying off

I have lost another 1lb, bringing my total to 9lb overall, not so spectacular but still . Am going to buy sone digital scales this afternoon too so hopefully won't have to keep moving the scales around the floor and taking an average reading...

Come on VG - what you got?

VintageGardenia · 26/06/2009 09:42

Oh Sazzles I am absolutely delighted for you!

Sadly here I have lost NOTHING this week, it is so unfair & I am really fed up, because it was a good week. However I think I am going to have to go hard core again and get back on just salad stuff for a couple of weeks as my loss seems to have stalled.

3lb is just brilliant, well done well done well done. That is nearly a stone - will be by next week - which was your pre-holiday goal, that is absolutely fabulous . WELL DONE imagine there is a stone less of you now than there was just a few weeks ago. How fantastic. I am really really happy for you!

Pots I hope you have similar good news and at least the pound you hoped for .

hotterpotter · 26/06/2009 19:14

Chin up VG, you've probably reached your mini-plateau just like Sazzles did a couple of weeks ago, and look at her now onwards and downwards...

Got my new scales and am amazed and relieved to weigh the same on them as on the old ones. Would actually have been quite nice to have lost a few pounds in the transfer but steady is better than increase. They are digital and weigh to 1/4 lb so I am going to have to refrain from weighing after every meal/trip to the loo

alittlebitshy · 28/06/2009 14:38

oh goodness. I just did my bmi and it turns out i am obese . I knew i was v overweight but .

HELP ME!!!!!

I cannot stop eating. seriously. For a start it cheers me up.....

I need to lose somewhere between 3.5 and 2 stone to be in the upper end of normal. shit shir shit.

I am seriously stressed about this cos when ds is asleep ion the day and in the eves i have a cuppa and i EAT (once i've done my chores etc).

I love food. esp sweet stuff.

and we've gone from every 2-4 weeks to having takeaway once a week (fri night). Is this terrible if the rest of my diet was good?

hotterpotter · 28/06/2009 16:16

You can do it ALBS and we will help you

I have been obese for the last 8 years or so, since I got a job sitting down and could afford to buy cakes/sweets etc regularly, then had children...the hot mamas have helped me lose 9lb in the last few weeks so I am finally only overweight

Sazzles is the expert on this, she's doing so well, but I would say that once a week takeaway is fine, as long as you eat well the rest of the time. This does mean no biscuits or other foody treats after DC's bedtime and for me also means no bread from Monday-Friday but it's sooooo worth it! Remember that trite saying "a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips" well it's true, food is just food but getting slimmer is fantastic

The way I have been doing it is to have cereal for breakfast, salad for lunch, normal family dinner, and no snacking apart from a couple of bits of fruit. I do this mon-fri and relax the rules completely a lot at the weekend. It's going down slowly probably because of the wine and crisps I allow myself on Fri/Sat night, but it is going down.

So what's your short-term goal? How many pounds to lose to be just overweight?

alittlebitshy · 28/06/2009 18:36

i think only about 5lb to be "just" overweight.

I'm a short arse though (as you may recall from meetup)....

I'm going to go over to cereal at brekkie rather than piles of toast. try salad or ONE healthy saernie plus fruit, at lunch. Family dinner. then the key is NO snacks other than fruit etc.

What kind of cereal have you been having and have you been making sure you have the right portion size?

Ow Ow Ow

Yes I have lapsed, have been eating anything and everything although can honestly say, I don't eat that much chocolate.
My biggest downfall is bread, cheese, crisps.

I would like to start with small steps rather then rush in saying what I am going to do and let myself down. Sooooo....
I have already started to ditch the car and walk more.
I need to drink drink drink water that is. I used to drink so much, even family and friends used to comment how much I drank. Poor excuse but some days I forget/don't get time etc.... I will make more effort as I know I feel better.
I am going to try very hard to cut out bread or at least limit slices to 2 a day.
So if I have toast for breakfast, then don't have sandwich for lunch.
will that work or should I just cut it out altogether??
I have been in our gym on my pole a few times, and I started my pilates excersizes the other day.
I will weigh myself tomorow and then I know where I am.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 28/06/2009 20:32

I am so desperate for some new clothes/Jeans/tops, but feel so unhappy and sluggish about myself that I have no urge to buy/try on.
So I tell myself noone can do it for me, I have to help myself and everything is acheivable.
So my treat is new clothes, and a new fancy shcmansy digital slr camera

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 28/06/2009 20:33

How do I worl out my Bmi and find out average weight for height etc... any websites

Oooh two new recruits.

Look at our STAR pupil, Sazzles! She's the one we trot out whenever people come to the open day . Seriously we are SO SO impressed with you Sazzles, you totally deserve your fab holiday and the way you feel. I am so pleased .

ALBS and No1 don't I know you from somewhere... ?

ALBS do you know what I am very unpopularly going to say, I think you need to cut the takeaways - say try it for a month - whether it's Indian, Chinese, pizza, whatever, it's likely to be carbtastic at the minimum. I know it's a pain if it's your end of week treat - and if it's something you do together - could you swap it for a film and a (single!) glass of wine? I am all for treats and rewards but there's no point in undoing all your good work!

No1 bread is a danger for me too. Sadly ds gave me a breadmaker for my birthday a few months ago ... currently gathering dust ... I have had to cut out buying it - even though everyone else loves it - I cannot have a loaf in the house & not have toast for breakfast - agony. This morning, grapefruit, a banana cut into natural yog and a thousand cups of coffee.

Sazz have you smashed any of the cds to get rid of Paul McKenna's "calming" voice yet??

alittlebitshy · 29/06/2009 10:39

no1 I am limiting myself to 2 slices a day, so i can have a sarnie (full of salad and stuff) at lunch if i don;t fancy a proper breadless salad.

Ok:
Day 1 - sultana bran for brekker and a cup of tea. So far 2 pint glasses of water. And a rumbly tummy What can i snack on in the daytime if i need to????

VintageGardenia · 29/06/2009 10:54

Keep a bowl of cut-up fruit in the fridge - but nice things like melon and berries and whatever you will be interested in, not a mouldy old apple and the leftover pear from someone's packed lunch. Lovely cool bowl of fruit is fab in this weather. Make the most of summer availability e.g. cherries, blueberries, etc.

Also make ordinary things into a treat - so for e.g. if you are going to have a cup of tea have Earl Grey (or what you like) in a lovely china cup and saucer, or if you are having water have sparkling water in a tall glass with ice and lemon or mint or whatever so it feels lovely and luxurious. If you are having a sandwich don't just mash it into your mouth as you leap into the car for the school run, have it during naptime on a plate with salad beside it.
