Welcome ladies of the Due August 2008 thread. Today is your day to begin REDEFINING your Post-Baby Body.

Please take a moment to STATE your SHORT TERM goal(s) and to STATE your LONG TERM goal(s) for overall health. This may include a weight you would like to reach, a fitness level you would like to attain, or size you would like to fit into.

I ask that you post at least twice a week. First to state what you plan to do during the week to reach your above goal(s). Then an end of the week post to let us know how you faired. BE HONEST! This is a SUPPORT THREAD so if you didn't find time to run a mile, admit it. Maybe someone else did the same and needs a running partner...thus a MEET-UP a might solve the problem. If you went above and beyond your expectations for the week, tell us and be an inspiration.

Now let's get started.

Stay firm Sazzles! I have had grapefruit (tinned!!!! gross) and coffee. Bread is fatal, keep away from it.

I have had a lot of vending machine Maltesers & coffees & Minstrels and I can't remember what over w/e, weighed self this am and I am plus one pound since last weigh-in, that could either be Maltesers or not having proper water intake over w/e but as TS always says no point stressing over +1 or -1. Overall I am still down 6 pounds from starting weight which is STILL nearly half a stone which is a LOT of packets of butter so I am happy enough and still determined.

It's funny Sazzles, I am like that too, at my starting weight I don't really go up or down without effort, it becomes my natural weight, what I return to. Unfortunately it just isn't eight and a half stone... .

Red that is brilliant, only 4 pounds to go to target, well done. Let's have a reward scheme! I suggest mini-rewards for interim targets (say for me, hots and Sazz will be at half-stone intervals?) and then there will be a big one for reaching your target.

I think the big target should be a nice new dress or something.

How shall we do rewards...??

VintageGardenia · 15/06/2009 09:17

Howbout this:

each time you lose a pound, put something into a money box, whatever you want, but a fixed sum.

So e.g. you put a tenner in for each pound. Then at the end I can spend all the money in the money box on clothes or a haircut or whatever.

OK just realised how much money that would be!

OK you could put a pound in for each pound, if you lost two stone that would still be 28 quid.

VintageGardenia · 15/06/2009 09:21

Sazzles being on here has reminded me I've not posted you that cd, will not be able to do today but will tomorrow. I am so sorry!

What about interim rewards at half-stone milestones (as it were)?

hotterpotter · 15/06/2009 19:27

Oh Sazz that is a pain , weighing on a Monday only brings pain you know, join me on Friday instead . Seriously though, you know you are doing all the right things, it's just going to take longer that's all as you are building muscle as fast as you are losing fat.

I have also hovered around 14-14.5 stone for the last 7 or 8 years when not pg or with a young baby - this is the least I have weighed since 2002 . I really need to break the idea though that food (and booze) are a reward because I ate cake too yesterday and half a big bag of bombay mix because I wanted wine and can't drink without immediately wanting to eat snack food

Red you are doing so well, and steady away too so it's much more likely to stay off forever well done!

VG I love the idea of a reward system involving new frock/hairdo and every half-stone would be a sensible scale as it would iron out such temporary annoyances as Sazz is currently experiencing. Anyway we will all need new clothes to flaunt our slimlined bods

Think I need some new scales though, as with mine you need to take several readings and choose the mean figure . Digital or analogue? And what if they say I weigh more? Would I have to take them back? (I have done that before btw )

Ah bugger I did a sneaky weigh and am up 2lb on Friday, grrr. I think I ought to ask DH to hide the scales and just get them out once a week or even once a fortnight.

Not too bad on the eating front yesterday, had cereal, tuna salad and pasta, no snacks. Not enough water though, maybe the 2lb is water retention?

Three sleeps till wine o'clock

VintageGardenia · 16/06/2009 09:06

hots yes I think you had better hide the scales!

I must say pasta is one thing that is fatal to me. When you look at the traditional carby things in order of ok'ness they would be, for me,
spud
rice
bread
pasta

Pasta & bread just seem to solidify inside me or something!

Sazz you are dead right re. the tinned grapefruit. It was like brekker in a B&B, but it was that or crunchy nut clusters which is ds1's current brekker. I went shopping yesterday so we're all stocked up on fruit again. I did get ruby grapefruits! Had one last night actually - for pudding! - and it was nearly as sweet as an orange.

Salmon & green salad last night, was so tired wasn't really hungry. Will confess to two pieces of fillet steak in fridge for tonight, I hardly ever buy it but felt dp needed pepping up after weekend, he had a brutal headache yesterday and is stressed and tired. Though why I think it's steak he needs, am not sure .

hotterpotter · 17/06/2009 18:45

First day back at work and have done pretty well really. I was a bit worried that having breakfast before 7 would mean I was starving by 10.30 and heading for the chocolate machine but I held off and just had an M&S salad for lunch (170 calories ) made up for it a bit tonight with fish and chips but as they were of the oven variety it's not half as bad as it sounds! I was good too and used stairs at work instead of the lift. On the 2nd floor so not amazing but small steps and all that...

Nice work TS!

Me too Sazz despite numerous couple of Jaffa cakes etc but have actually not had much carb craving of late. Lovely homegrown (not by me!) salad yesterday with feta cheese and sundried toms, nice.

hotterpotter · 18/06/2009 18:54

Have been very good at work today, had salad again for lunch, then later on when left over tray of meeting sandwiches, biscuits and crisps arrived I changed the habit of a lifetime and politely declined. Quarry House butties do have a tendency to make you go but the biscuits are good. Was surprisingly easy. The proof will be in the weighing tomorrow.

Forgot to say well done sazzles on your 40-minute mile. When I used to go regularly I could jut about manage 1km in 40 minutes so you must really whizz up and down

Have been very good and kept to the no-booze-pact. 26 hours to go...

VintageGardenia · 18/06/2009 22:18

WELL DONE pottsy on the sambo, biscuit episode!!! Really hope you have a good weigh tomorrow.

I have sadly fuck fuck fuck eaten about three buns and lasagne, was stuck for supper & that was the Boy Supper on the menu today. Have to shop tomorrow. Feel awful actually v sluggish, pasta is not my friend.

Sazzmatazz I don't I congratulated you either but I am suitably and , as ds would say you are rocking the pool! DP posted CDs to you late yestreen (that is, I gave them to him to post from work yesterday morning and they went at some point... ) but I don't think you really need em!

Tomorrow, shop for salad bits & fruit, buy water. It's so easy when you have the right stuff in! Tis fatal when have not.

Woo hoo Sazzles that's fab Told you it was a minor plateau!

Just sneaking on at work, no time to chatter but I have lost 1lb this week, not much but it's all in the right direction. So I am down 8lb altogether, it's amazing I have lost over 4 stone since 7.8.08

Won't tell you that we are having blueberyy pancakes and cupcakes tomorrow...

Hi guys I am going to weigh in on Friday so I can be the same as you .

So today I am -7lbs in total again because I gained 2lbs before & have now lost 1lb since I weighed on Monday ifswim - not a full week but isn't going to make much difference & is better to weigh on same day as you, will keep me honest .

Tis a bit frustrating at the mo.

Sazzles I saw on the other thread you and dd have mutually decided it's the end of bf, I wonder if that will make any difference - apparently it drops off when you end as your body realises it doesn't have to store up resources for being stranded on desert island & having to feed the baby, etc. There are a lot of theories about bf though, the other ones usually say it drops off WHILE you're feeding.

Onwards and downwards.

Everyone is doing brilliantly here. Well done.

I have eaten cake, chips and a variety of other rubbishy things in the last few days with DD1's birthday circling and the party is tomorrow.

I'll be back on track next week though.

Well done Sazzles! Goodish weekend for me too, active and not very food-based. When we had lunch out on my daytrip that I have been blathering about it was the most delicious food I've had in ages, even though it was the standard hippy comedy food of lentils and brown rice! It was puy lentils with garam masala, lovely brown rice (I don't even like brown rice normally), plain mashed potato without butter, milk, salt etc, and spinach in a thinnish bechamel sauce. Just a dollop of each, and salad leaves which had been picked about 15 minutes earlier. Am going to try to mimic the food myself.

We did have kedgeree last night but that was dp's father's day special, he loves it, but I had only a bit and a big green salad. I did pinch a couple of swigs of his bottle of beer though...

Yes let's have a good week I want to be grinning when I weigh myself on Friday and I want all of you to be too!

hotterpotter · 22/06/2009 23:36

Well done Sazzles and VG on your healthy weekends

Have been overindulging quite a bit over the weekend, in fact I think I ate nearly half a loaf of white bread with butter on Saturday I had a bit of a hangover, and once I started eating it I couldn't stop. Still, have been back on the wagon today, pretty healthy food and no snacking so hopefully I have not done too much damage. Really need to do something about my tummy overhang though, it looks horrid . So that's my extra goal for this week - to sort out some kind of tum exercise.

Mmmmm puy lentils

Red I hope DD's party went well and your PIL didn't drive you to thebiscuittin distraction

Mmmmmmm cheese, that would be my downfall, plus of course the crusty bread to spread it on, oh and the wine, and the pastries... Camembert is my favourite I prefer it jeune but will have it any way it comes

Seriously though, hopefully you will have your appetite firmly under control by then, and be able to have some of the good stuff every day without stuffing your face with too much fatty/carby food. Am very of France, hopefully next year...

Have been very good this week, cereal for brekker, salad for lunch, normal dinner but not too much, and no snacking. Am quite hungry now but going to have a big glass of water and go to bed. I'm going to a diversity co-ordinator meeting tomorrow in Birmingham so will be a test of my willpower at the buffet lunch

Ooh, and got a trampette today . Only had a little go on it, but it held my weight so just need somewhere to put it now. DH said no to bouncing in front of TV as it was putting him off
