oh no that was just yesterday!!!
saturday was normal food plus big mac, mcchicken sandwhich and fries cos we had bogof vouchers which ended sat!!!

woodpops · 08/03/2005 10:28

We had those vouchers too EM but we didn't use them. Back in October I would have and no doubt I'd have had 2 Big Macs myself. Now I've done this diet my tastes have really changed. Can't stand McDonalds anyore and I always loved a good old big mac. Now I love celery and brussel sprouts!!!!!

moonshine · 08/03/2005 11:44

Champs - i'm really sorry you feel so bad. I felt the same when I got pregnant (ds now 9 months) as I had lost 2 stones but still was huge, which the horrible horrible mw never failed to mention (just in case I forgot). Anyway I had to have the glucose test (but not thyroid). No probs for me there and in the end my horrible mw said she couldn't believe how healthy I was (although surprised she didn't add for a fat bird!). Anyway, size doesn't mean you will have a bad pregnancy, nor does it mean that anything will go wrong. Actually most of the health professionals were great, just the one I had to see most was a cow. So if anyone tries to bring you down, just bin them if you can! I was a stone heavier when I gave birth despite eating for China and the USA (just put on loads more as usual when bfing ) so you are doing really really well. It's only a really really short time in the great scheme of things and nurturing your baby really is the most important thing atm and trying to enjoy being pregnant!

Anyway, sorry for ramble and rant. I'm off to get an apple.

champs · 08/03/2005 16:11

lol ty moonshine.
you really made me smile. out of pg my blood pressure is fine, I can walk around without puffing and can run for a bus in fact am faster than my size 8 cousin. I am overweight no doubt about that in fact am in dangerous obese according to medical tables. and my bmi ie ehocking but i am reletively fit. I dont want to do gtt as it is disgusting and i hate needles but i will do it to shut them up i am 97% sure that it wont show probs as didn't last two pregs and my urine(sorry if too graphic) is normal. I dont know why i cant ust go along happily untill something shows up and then do the gtt.

dh has still kept the scales away from me but i get weighed at the hosp and cringe inwardly and outwardl when i get on. I have stayed the same since last appt 2wks ago.

ty for listening to my hormonal whinging.

today:

1 piece toast
1 dried apricot
couple of bites of an organic raisin bar
1 bowl of spinach soup
1 wholemeal roll
half a piece of white bread with butter, eek
few marmite mini rice cakes (only 7 cals each)
2 quality street toffees, oops
2 chocolate covered raisins (ds has pick and mix)
And I've just eaten at least half a Pizza Express margherita pizza maybe more, cooked it for ds and he couldn't eat it, so that's probably about 500 cals
I've made a vegetable biryani for me and Dp but won't have much of it I don't think. Although actually writing this down has made me think the pizza wasn't that awful given what little else I've eaten today and a veg biryani will probably be good for me (ingredients are rice, sweet potato, carrots, tomatoes, onion, garlic, veg stock, peas, spices, chillis and some sunflower oil) so I think I will eat quite a bit of it.
And I walked at least 2 miles today.
Thanks for listening!

champs · 08/03/2005 19:52

www that veg byryani sounds delicious.
also agree that the little you ate before the pizza means you will still be in limit with some yummy byryani

Today

1 small glass apple juice
1 piece toast, olive spread, marmite
1 sesame snap
1 apple

1 banana
medium portion vegetable biryani
1 hard boiled egg mixed with 1 tsp mayonnaise
another small glass apple juice
2 sesame crackers @ 32 cal each
1 tiny piece dd's organic cheese and tomato baby pizza, oops. whole thing is only 250 cals though
And there is a poussin in the oven with the marinade from Fat Girl Slim for tonight
will also have 100 or 200 cal of chocolate
tonight in front of the tv.

Reckon I'm 1500 cals or under on that lot. No exercise though. Ah well. Thanks for listening!

iota · 09/03/2005 18:35

WideWebWitch · 09/03/2005 18:37

PuffTheMagicDragon · 09/03/2005 23:48

Hi folks, well after a long weekend away during which I ate more than 1 bag of delicious chips from local marvellous chip shop - I have miraculously lost a quarter of a pound. It is indeed a miracle and thoroughly undeserved.

I need to stop pussyfooting around and get on with losing more poundage each week. Going to get out my GI diet books to revise and become saintly again .

champs · 09/03/2005 23:55

hope you had lots of vinegar on them, wouldn't be justice if not.

does GI work then?

OP posts:
PuffTheMagicDragon · 10/03/2005 08:17

GI really does work (for me anyway). I've lost nearly 4 and a half stone on it.

I slowed up recently, because I always want to eat more when it's really cold. But, I've noticed that as long as I avoid high GI foods (apart from chips at the weekend , it's much easier to control my weight overall.

WideWebWitch · 10/03/2005 20:11

Ooh Puff, wow that's a lot of weight, well done. Do you count calories too?

Today

1 piece toast, olive spread, marmite
1 sesame snap (165 cal)
1 apple
1 pear
1 marmite sandwich, scrape of olive spread
half an avocado
5 sesame crackers @ 32 cals each, oops
5 mini sausages @ 400 cals the lot
loads of raw carrot
large portion of peas
a mouthful of mash
100 cal dairy free chocolate

and a 3 mile walk. Not bad. Thanks for listening!

champs · 10/03/2005 21:13

might have a look at it. Do you know if it safe to follow whilst pg?

www, you have amazing will power

OP posts:
PuffTheMagicDragon · 10/03/2005 21:31

www, I don't really count calories, but follow portion guidelines in the GI books I have, especially for carbohydrates. Well done on the 3 mile walk btw - well impressed!

Champs, following GI rules is nutritionally very sound, so I would think it's great during pregnancy in terms of eating healthily for you and the baby. The GI thread on here has lots of info and recipes on it if you're interested.

champs · 11/03/2005 13:02

thanks Puff. i will bring it up when i see dietician.

WideWebWitch · 12/03/2005 06:46

Hiya, just wanted to write down what I ate yesterday:

1 piece toast, olive spread, marmite
1 sesame snap
sandwich made with 1 tin sardines (160 cals) and 2 slices of bread (200 cal)
a few strawberries
some mango
2 slices margherita PE pizza
2 veggie burgers made with kidney beans, onions, garlic, red pepper and breadcrumbs. Fried though.
tomato, goats cheese and basil salad
potato wedges with bbq sauce
200 cal chocolate
half a bottle of white wine

And a 2 mile walk. Thanks for listening! Puff, I might go and read the GI thread and combine that and calorie counting.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 15/03/2005 10:41

I've lost 3lbs this week. Hurrah!

WideWebWitch · 15/03/2005 13:32

Oh well done Puff!

moonshine · 16/03/2005 11:16

Well done Puff!

I've been hiding under my stone again cos am still doing badly. In fact so much so that I have decided to go see the local Lighterlife consultant tonight! Feel quite excited as, although it sounds like complete madness, it could be my last hope. Decided I don't need a lifestyle change (well I do I guess) but treatment for an illness and this is my way forward.

Woodpops and Soapbox - where are you?? Was it the best thing you have ever done??

champs · 17/03/2005 17:55

well done puff, keep it up

OP posts:
PuffTheMagicDragon · 23/03/2005 10:08

moonshine, did you see the lighterlife consultant?

I've lost a pound and a quarter this week.

This thread's gone ultra quiet, how is everyone????

Please don't leave me all on my own .

WideWebWitch · 23/03/2005 11:58

Oh Puff, well done, hi, was just wondering if I ought to defect threads yet again since this is so quiet. I don't know what I've lost since I had a week of drinkign wine and I'm scared so I'm going to wait until after af, so beginning April. BUT I got into a pair of pre preg trousers this am. They were DAMN tight, I wouldn't wear them, but they're less elusive than they were!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 23/03/2005 13:34

Sounds like you're doing great www.

It has gone a bit quiet on here which is unusual.

I'm away for 2 weeks from this weekend so won't be around either. Am taking my scales with me though......don't trust myself without them.
