Thanks GF, and congrats to bran on her non-birth announcement (sorry, trying to only post on this thread).
More grazing...
How do people cope with healthy eating when they're out and about? I'm at work today so brought a healthy and relatively big lunch (cottage cheese on rye bread, 2 light yogurts and 3 bits of fruit). But it didn't last me the whole day and at about 3 I cracked and bought sandwitches and biscuits .
Course it doesn't help that I work opposite a dellicatessen (sp??), an ice cream cafe and a patisserie/chocolaterie. .
At home I'm a grazer (have figured I need to keep my energy up by eating little and often. If it dips too low I'm wiped out for days and end up eating crap again). But I can't bring much to work (at least not enough for the whole day, it seems). Also still bfing, so a lot hungrier than I used to be pre pg.

sigh...

PuffTheMagicDragon · 14/04/2005 17:31

Sounds like you definitely need an extra couple of snacks for work OM - what a nightmare having a deli close by!

OxyMoron · 14/04/2005 19:06

Yeah .. wouldn't mind if there was an alternative, but the only other foody shops are a newsagents (chocolate/coke/crisps only) and a baguette bar!!

WideWebWitch · 14/04/2005 20:07

Hi everyone. I was rubbish over easter because I saw lots of friends and had people staying and drank wine and everything. But I have been good since Monday and have had no booze and lots of walking. I'm still too scared to weigh but a friend who came today said I looked thinner and I'm still in the Monsoon skirt which is baggy and a size smaller than I thought I was in Feb. So I don't think I've put anything on in the last 3 weeks, which is something.

Oxymoron (great name!), I carry food with me, it's what the woman who wrote French Women Don't Get Fat calls her 'en cas' (or something like it), her stash. I carry apples, raisins, bananas, sesame snaps.

OxyMoron · 14/04/2005 22:07

Thanks www.

I'm working towards that. I never leave the house without bananas now! Trouble is I think I'd need a wheelbarrow to transport all the snackage I need for a working day ...

Good to hear about your monsoon skirt. They do nice stuff. I got married in monsoon gear not so long ago. Worked well!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 14/04/2005 22:14

Sounds like you're doing great www .

LunarSea · 15/04/2005 09:54

www - I like Monsoon 'cos I alwyas seem to be a size smaller there than anywhere else! Definately good for the ego.

WideWebWitch · 15/04/2005 19:41

Oh no Lunarsea! There was I thinking it meant I'd lost some weight!

champs · 16/04/2005 16:55

Champs am low as can be but will get better I know. Somehow I know how to pick myself up adn sometimes wallowing in misery for a couple of days is good. DH away this weekend so a bit of a reality shock about how life may be without him. Anyway the kids can see it is bad as I cant stop crying but are being very very good poor things and we are watching crap tv together and eating rubbish.

Bran, I hope all goes well. Lots of hugs GF

bran · 16/04/2005 19:15

Oh GF, hugs to you too. I hope things improve very soon.

OM when I first started on WW carrots and celery were my saviours. They're nice and crunchy and they take lots of chewing to eat so I felt like I was eating loads but they're very low calorie. I'm also very partial to Ryvita with a little houmus or low-fat Philadelphia spread on top (only dark rye Ryvita though, the others taste like cardboard). There's also a product called Flat Breads which are fat free crackers, the Hot'n'Spicy ones have loads of taste for relatively few calories, a really good alternative to torteilla chips or chrisps. If you have a sweet tooth then Skinny Cow make delicious low fat ice-cream lollies, and Soleros are also pretty low calorie.

Can you go to work on a Monday via a supermarket and stock your desk with good snacks?

In case anyone's interested I'm back on chocolate with a vengance, my only saving grace is that I'm still a chocolate snob and so am not tempted by Catbury's etc every time I go into a corner shop. Once things are all settled with Branboy I will definitely be trying to get back on the WW/GI diet as I felt much healthier when I was doing it.

WideWebWitch · 17/04/2005 20:35

Sorry you're feeling so low glitterfairy.

I haven't been good this weekend. Today for example, I've had 2 pieces of toast with butter and marmite, 1 pitta with loads of hummus, some brie with a couple of apples, loads of dp's homemade garlic & rosemary pizza bread drizzled with olive oil, a few (proper not tinned) anchovies in garlic and olive oil, some chorizo, a pizza with chorizo, more anchovies, feta and red peppers, 2 pieces of chocolate and about half a bottle of Chianti. Bloody gorgeous, all of it! Back to dieting and walking a lot tomorrow though. Yesterday I had a prawn toast, a prawn wonton, a veg spring roll, a veg samosa, a couple of onion bhajis, chorizo, serrano ham, loads of dry white wine, toast with butter, new potatoes roasted in their skins with garlic and rosemary, freshly baked bread with butter. Oh it was all delicious, it truly was

PuffTheMagicDragon · 17/04/2005 20:38

Cor, it does sound delicious www!

champs · 18/04/2005 23:19

dribble..... sounds lovely www.

glitter, how you doing today? has dh been ant better? love to you hun.

bran,, congrats!! you deserve to have a little treat when kiddie comes.

hi puff!!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 19/04/2005 11:21

Helloooo all .

I've lost 2lbs this week - hurrah - on my way to 5 stones (eek!).

champs · 19/04/2005 13:05

well done!! how much more have you got to lose?

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 19/04/2005 13:32

Cor well done Puff, that's impressive! 5 stone, wow!

I have been okish today and am back on the wagon - went to bed early with no booze last night. Today
1 piece toast, marmite, olive spread
2 apples
1 pear
half an avocado
an omelette made with 1 egg, no oil, a small handful of goat's cheese and half a red pepper
half a piece of chocolate biscuit cake on an outing with a friend this am. Oops. But have been walking to try to atone. Prob fishfingers and peas tonight and I reckon I should still be under 1700 cals, well, I hope so. I'm having a feeling fat and ugly day today so I must stay motivated and get to a size 12 again. Thanks for listening!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 19/04/2005 13:34

I want to be a size 12 again too www.

I need to lose another 2 stone. I'd like to lose another 3.

champs · 19/04/2005 13:46

www -- think of all the weight you've lost so far and let that motivate you. you are prob not even fat anymore as you've done so well. think of it more as getting to your goal size instead.

puff -- you'll get there in no time!! you may even get there this summer.

i'd love to be a size 12, i think i would look too ill if i got to size 10 which is what i wanted at first. I am 5:8 so maybe 12 is a more realistic size. I am going to set myself a target of dropping 2 sizes for baby's christening.... way in the future I know seeing as babr=e isn't even born yet but i think i need to set the goal so i feel like i am still trying. the funny thing I've noticed is that I had lost quite a bit of weight before i got pg because I feel much fitter this time around. also i have noticed that apart from my fave trousers, the rest of my bottoms fit...just about LOL. also i am showing much earlier too although this could be down to the space of time between last baby and this being shorter than the space between space of ds1 and ds2 IYSWIM

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 19/04/2005 18:05

thanks Champs, I am still fat but not as gross as I was!

champs · 20/04/2005 00:18

LOL. I have been eating quite well these past days. sweet and choc cravings are controllable now although I have now started craving cheese!!

OP posts:
moonshine · 21/04/2005 21:34

Welcome OxyMoron, how's it going?

Glitterfairy - how are you?? I'm sorry you're feeling so shitty atm.

Puff - you must be a shadow of your former self - have you been treating yourself to some nice clothes or are you hanging on for 'target' weight?

Bran - it's worth saying again but congratulations!

Champs - I craved cheese big time with dd (and I am not usually a fan) and just choc and sweet stuff with ds - how far gone are you and have you had a scan yet?

WWW - please - fat is such an ugly word - be kind to yourself!

After my flying 'visit' must now give computer to dh (boo, hiss)

champs · 21/04/2005 22:52

moonshine -- tell dh you need to be on here I keep loosing count of how far I am! due in august 13th by my dates, 21st by silly scan lady who decided not to listen to me... what do I know after all!! It really is a nightmare I crave the things that give me a headache, how weird is that!

How's everyone else doing?

glitter -- hope you are doing good today.

OxyMoron · 22/04/2005 10:54

Well, been a while since I checked in here. Had a major fall off wagon last week, and didn't losa anything. But didn't gain either, so at least I'm standing still, IYSWIM.
I'm trying to use these bad weeks as opportunities to learn what works for me and what doesn't, rather than just beating myself up for being bad. For me that's real progress!
Champs, thanks for your comments. Agree I shouldn't bring cash. Did I mention the deli was next door to a cash point? I knwo, I know, shouldn't bring cards either .
Champsinutero? How exciting. I am not broody, I am not broody, I am NOT broody.............
GF, no idea about your history or anything, but sorry to hear you are feeling low. I hope these lovely ladies here are helping you to feel better.
Bran, I'm following your crudites (sp??) suggestion as we speak. Thanks for that.
Puff - 5 st? I'm stunned, that's fantastic. My target is 4 (though have set mini targets along the way). Seem to be stuck at the half way mark, but not giving up yet!
btw, puff and www, i've never been a size 12!
champs - cheese cravings? tell me about it! My name's Oxy and I'm a halloumi addict.
Moonshine, thanks for the welcome. It's going OK. Scales not moving but I'm still learning and persevering.

Hope I've not missed anyone, and thanks again for the warm welcome.

WideWebWitch · 22/04/2005 18:15

Hi everyone, I've been good all week, no booze until NOW, and wow, what a lovely glass of wine it is! And I've done lots of walking and under 1700 cals/day. I still dare not weigh but may get dp to look next week and only tell me if it's good news. We're having dp's homemade garlic and rosemary pizza bread tonight with more red wine. And then I'll be moderate over the weekend. Oxymoron, at least you didn't put on anything, that's good!
