I want to be a size 12 by Chrimbo

And then eventually an 8.

But I need motivating.

I have been farting about on a diet for the last 3 weeks, but I keep cheating. Keep me on the straight and narrow, and in return, I can offer swift kicks up the harris for all of you what need it

No Floss, running down your stairs would probably end in a trip to A&E

I prescribe jogging on the spot

Oo, pilates. I might have a look at that. I might get a DVD.

I'l be off out with the dog tonight for my exercise. Anybody recommend any good walking music? I need some new tunes.

SheikYerbouti · 28/07/2008 14:43

Wham.

Everyone is a closet Wham fan imho.

Jahan · 28/07/2008 14:54

It depends on your mood, surely?

SheikYerbouti · 28/07/2008 15:02

I'm always in the mood for Wham! (Except Young Guns, which is shite)

Fanella · 28/07/2008 15:20

Wham, there's a plan. I'm Your Man would get me stomping.

I agree Jahan but I find stomping songs help me power up the hills better. My favourite for this is Chelsea Dagger. Really gets me moving.

Floaty slow songs make me want to sit on a wall and gaze at the sunset (not a bad thing though)

Oh can I join? Would like to lose 18lbs or so of leftover baby weight - the majority of it in the next 10 weeks if possible so I can put my heffer bouti in a bikini!! My downfall is most definity vino which I rely on most evenings after the stresses of being alone with 3 kids all day long. Need to find the willpower to stop consuming this evil liquid which I can drink in some quite impressive quantities but also gives me the munchies. Was about to post my own thread to find some motivation but this seems to be it and Sheiky - you seem like the lady to get me there. I am going to do a wee 1/2 hr of something energetic right now!

Do we post what we have eaten daily and what exercise ? Sat morning weigh-in ? Do we post results ? I feel quite motivated already - who needs to spend £40 joining Scottish Slimmers online!!!

SheikYerbouti · 28/07/2008 16:16

Right Pinky.

Instead of a glass of wine, go for a walk. M

SheikYerbouti · 28/07/2008 16:17

Oh and yes, Saturday morning weigh in.

Youi can post what you have eaten if you like, but I NEED to know if you have done your requisite 10 mins a day.

Just did 1/2 hr cardio box (davina) - sweating like a hippo but feeling fab - need to get in shower quick and get organised to collect dd from nursery!

Evening exercise never works out for me - always to tired or kids don't settle but going to try the walk thing if I can. I really want to get up early in the morning and go for a run or do a workout before the kids get up and that would set me up for day but to be honest after a few vinos before bed and a sleepless night (dd) it never happens - need to give myself that extra push. The best home workout dvd I have ever done and really gives results if done regularly is (don't laugh) .... Isabella Hervey Power Workout - loads of squats and lunches - great for tree trunk thighs like mine!

Think I will post what I eat/drink and my exercise but more for my benefit than anyone elses so you don't need to read!

Storm (loving the name by the way) - yes, I do love fruit and veg and so do my wee ones. I am generally a healthy eater but let myself down with munchies (normally wine related) and no exercise - MUST TRY HARDER.

Actually feel so much more positive already - thanks guys!! PB

PinkButterfly · 28/07/2008 17:09

OOPS - should obviously read "squats and lunges" not lunches!!! A nice idea though - if only.....

SheikYerbouti · 28/07/2008 17:16

Another gold star for Pinky

wel done.

Do do anj evening walk, rather then having a glass of wine. It will clear your head nicely. If it's raining - wear a raincoat. There's no such thing as the wrong type of weather - just the wrong type of clothing!

Instead of rewarding yourself with a glass of wine, then have a long bath, read a book, do your nails, clean the loo (whatever floats your boat)

I'm not saying don't drink wine at all (I'd never last) but jsust have one glass less a night, or just drink a couple of times a week

Slouchy · 28/07/2008 18:25

Here's my wine tip...

Pour half and half cranberry juice and soda water into a wine glass. Looks like rose wine (v important for me this), has a slightly sharp taste unlike grape juice etc which is vilely sweet. It is extremely refreshing too, in this hot weather.

And is one of your 5 a day, and not desperately high in cals.

Chin chin!

PinkButterfly · 28/07/2008 19:34

Thanks for that Slouchy - sounds yummy.

Have decided only a couple of vinos on a Saturday evening unless for a special occasion through the week so will look forward to that. Hopefully that will be my evening treat after a good result on the scales in the morning!!

PB

Jahan · 28/07/2008 19:50

Haven't been for my walk yet but will go soon.
Food wise, I had friends over so in a moment of weekness, had 2 homemade biscuits and 2 cheese straws. I feel full so haven't had any dinner. I'll eat fruit if I feel hungry.
I've been drinking lots of water too.

Fanella · 28/07/2008 20:29

Been for my walk - about 20 mins. Powered up the hill then sauntered back down. I'm tired now but happy.

LisaLessLumpy · 28/07/2008 21:24

I have done 40 mins on the cross trainer, burnt off 400 cals and did 3.05 miles and sweated a bucket load

Drank 4 pints of squash, 1 and 1/2 pints of water, 1 tea, 1 coffee and 1/2 pint of flavoured sparkling water during the day.

Also went to the park and walked around for an hour pushing a pushcair with both boys on in hot weather

I havent done sod all. Well ok I did my 100 situps this morning but I havent done cross trainer or walked. My evening comes and Im done. Had best intentions to do something this morning before dp left for work but dd has started waking for an hour from around 3/4am and so after that I just want to go back to sleep.

I was meant to take dd to be weighed today but have phoned to see if I can have a home appointment sometime, Im having a bit of a 'cant go out' thing going on lately, and Im under a black cloud with everything.

Jahan · 29/07/2008 09:46

I went for a walk in the park yesterday eve and walked briskly for 40 mins. It was lovely.

I know sometimes its easier said than done, but if you can, everyone should go walk in some green spaces. I think its so good for your mental well being as well as physical

Dillinger - you should talk to someone, like your gp. Do you have pnd? The sooner you can deal with it the better.

dillinger · 29/07/2008 10:29

I wonder if I might have, I did when I had ds. Unfortunately since then weve moved an I think I feel more isolated here even though I was looking forward to moving somewhere a bit quieter! Im seeing my hv on thurs, I havent had my gp long and Im not sure how I feel about him. To be honest Im worried I'll just get put back on anti depressants.

Plus Ive always had probs with going out/panic attacks etc Ive asked about cbt but apparently theres a very long waiting list and Im not sure my gp sounded very convinced. I'll have to go back there but even that will be a nightmare with these 2, its too much to deal with tantrums sometimes

Thanks anyway! x

Jahan · 29/07/2008 10:37

I don't know much about pnd but one of my friends took st Johns Wort which you can get from health shops I think. Boots may have it?
Its herbal and she swears it helped her.

It must be hard for you as the more you stay in, the more isolated you'll feel.

Hope your hv can help. xx.

Cappuccino · 29/07/2008 10:48

oh look at you lot all walking

I spent last night sewing a Pygmalion costume for dd1's drama playscheme this week

I haven't sewn for years so needed lots of beer and chocolate support to get me through

will walk today tho, and do my yoga

and I had healthy breakfast
