Hi everyone - I maintained this week which is pretty amazing since have eaten a lot of non SW stuff (fish and chips from the shop don't really figure much on SW do they? ) I really want to lose a couple more pounds before my holiday if I can as I know I won't stick to the plan then.

KateF - why doesn't your friend just start the plan with her DD anyway? It's a very healthy way of eating and cutting out biscuits, cakes etc is a good place to start for anyone

JoGem · 05/08/2008 14:04

Hi, I'm new to this, after being persuaded to try by my Aunt who has done SW for years. I am doing it by myself, as can't really justify the money on a class at the moment, so could do with some support.

I have struggled with my weight for years, and have about 8 stone to lose, but I'm more determind this time. First weigh day is tomorrow, so we shall see. I can't believe how much I can eat on SW. In the past I have counted calories, and always felt hungry. I have found this week very easy.

I have spent 2 days reading though all the messages since January, and have picked up some really good tips, thanks

Tommy · 05/08/2008 16:44

welcome JoGem!

Once you get the hang of it, it really is very straightforward and realistic. My sister lost 5 1/2 stone with SW - it can be done. Good luck

SWlurker · 06/08/2008 09:10

Hi , Welcome JoGem!

I have rediscovered the joys of salad for lunches. Not bad, the locally grown left to ripen by itself not chemicals stuff is really tasty!

Tesco are doing mullerlights on 4 for £1 at the moment, so guess what I'm eating by the bucketload!!

Well I lasted on slimfast for a whole 4 days but I can't do it anymore

So I am hoping to manage to still lose weight before my holiday. Not sure if I am ready to start SW, I usually have to go shopping for certain foods. I might manage a day or two without shopping. I must write out a weely menu to follow.

catrin · 06/08/2008 11:01

Does anyone know this week's password please? My second weigh in last night and want to plot my chart but forgot to ask for password!!

heavy · 06/08/2008 16:28

Hi everyone - i'm still here.

Am up the wall at the moment with in laws visiting and car has broken down - main dealer has quoted £3.5 k to fix it! Seriously considering leaving it there and not going back

managed to get to class last night and have lost another 2lb so that's 8.5lb in total. yeay!

meal of the week was mixed grill (chicken, steak and gammon!) with salad on red day for our wedding anniversary.

keep going everyone - we'll get there in the end x

New password is swede (yum)

Nemoandthefishes · 06/08/2008 16:30

hi all
did SW last year and did ok until we had new kitchen put in..anyways am thinking about going back tonight but am seriously over weight and dont know if I will be able to do it..someone give me a kick up the butt to go and bite the bullet instead of the choccie bar

3andnomore · 06/08/2008 18:49

Well...am getting a bit disheartened at the moment....my body seems to be determined to break my spirit, sigh....
the week before last I had put on 2 Ibs despite being supergood, then last week I lost 5Ibs, despite having an INdian, drinking to much and having some other bloopers...and this week I have been good and I put on 1 1/2 Ibs...it is so annoying, because, laast week I was only 1/2 of my first stone award, now it's 2 Ibs again....tis NOT fair

I have started exercising again (3x a week Nell McAndrews Interval training and 3x a week weights...so, yes, it may well be muscle....but still it is annoying for this to happen

I think what is getting me down right now, is that in the past I always found loosing weight as easy as putting it on (well, if I set my mind to loosing weight I always did easily, iykwim)....now it seems to have changed and putting on weight seems more easy then ever, whilst loosing weight is a long hard and slow slog....sigh....

sorry, am ranting a bit...pure frustration....

I do hope that others are having a better time at it!

Oh, tried another new recipe out yesterday...I made a pineapple jalfrezi (sp) from the 100 saucy secrets book and made some changes, as in adding plenty of chickenbreast, and lots of mushrooms to make it a substantial meal without rice. Also added some Tomatoe puree and artifical sweetener to enhance the flavours. Oh and I used fresh pineapple instead of the recommended tinned version in natural juice...
anyway, it was delicious and dh said it was lovely and he had seconds which is a good sign

3andnomore · 06/08/2008 18:50

Oh, and probably a bit late....but nemo...here is the kick in the backside you asked for....hope you did go

Nemoandthefishes · 06/08/2008 21:28

thanks 3andnomore..I went and have registered again.... Dont know if I am fully in it but will be from tomorrow morning when I toddle off to buy my muller lights etc..

Tommy · 06/08/2008 22:06

in a moment of foolishness, I have just signed up for a 10k run

That should get the pounds off anyway

(have had a glass of wine and desperately trying not to eat the choc DH bought yesterday.....)

3andnomore · 07/08/2008 13:20

glad to hear it Nemo You know, Aldi has got gorgeous Yoghurts that are also synfree....they are Yoghurts wiht wholegrain in it....the Muesli one is especially delicious

Tommy....hope you were able to resist the choc!

By the way, should we maybe start a recipe thread for Slimming world recipes?

Furball · 07/08/2008 13:57

I have no internet for 2 weeks! re-connected monday [phew]

Anyway - limping along with the ole SW - I did so well for the first 12 weeks, and lost 1 1/2 stone! since then (another 5 weeks) I have lost only 2 lbs which is in danger of disappearing tonight. I need to lose this last 10-12 lbs! and no-one but me is going do to it. so why have I just nosheda couple of fish fingr sandwiches, followedby a cookie thingy and am off to the cinema now so will probably have a mountain of popcorn.

Help, I need to get my mindset back. there always seems to be something or other on at the moment and my willpower is complacent.

3andnomore · 07/08/2008 14:05

Furball...you have done so well so far though....wow....how about starting to write everything down....I find it helps me keep focus...

Furball · 07/08/2008 20:17

well what a surprise 2lbs on - just the kick up the jacksey needed.

she gave me a food diary to fill in for next week. so apart from a weekend away this week I'm hoping for at least 1 lb.

lizandlulu · 07/08/2008 21:23

can i join please? i just joined sw tonight for the 3rd time
i was doing weight watcher up till 3 weeks ago, but i find i just cant eat enough, yes i am greedy but need to learn to eat the right foods!
i am 16st 7.5 and want ot make a start by loosing 2 stone before christmas, do you think thats doable?

heavy · 08/08/2008 09:23

Definitely doable lizandlulu. I have been using the slimming world website - you can put in your weight each week and it will show you a graph of how long it will take you to get to target if you continue as you are doing.
If you can lose 2lb a week you will be 2 stone lighter by the end of november!

Furball 1 1/2 stone in 12 weeks is great, don't put it all back on now. You've worked so hard, even if you maintain for a little while at least you'll hold on to what you've already achieved. Try and plan ahead as much as you can if you have stuff on - maybe stay neutral in the day if you don't know whether you'll be getting red or green stuff in the evening?
If you can be good for another 12 weeks you'll have lost all the weight you want to lose! Have you got any events coming up that you can plan on wearing something special for? Keep going to class - my downfall in the past has been losing a stone, giving myself too many treats and then having a couple of gains and stopping going because I felt bad. Determined not to do it this time but is early days for me at the moment - will probably be on here in a few weeks saying exactly same as you!
3 and no more: there is a woman in my class who has really increased her exercise and maintained the last 2 weeks in spite of being good - you will see it eventually, maybe try measuring yourself so you can see you are losing inches if not pounds?
Tommy: good luck!
Have a good week everyone else

Tommy · 08/08/2008 09:24

absolutely lizandlulu and welcome We need some new blood to inspire the rest of us!

3andnomore - I managed to resist the choc - my biggest problem is resisting the wine

Furball · 08/08/2008 11:27

thanks heavy - I did want to be 'there' by our holiday in 2 weeks time. but yes 1 and 1/2 stone still fab. Have a weekend away this weekend and my parents 50th wedding anniversary party on the sat and ds' birthday on the sunday. I will just have to make the right choices, but I'm sure it will involve cake.

I deffo need to loose another stone for target and would like to do it by end september.
