can I ask, is it worth getting one of those food directory things? or a shopping directory? do either have sinful takeaways and eating out in?

If I'm going to do it I might as well give it 100%. Typically though, now DH is working I could probably afford to go to group, but he will be working when group is on. There is no way I'm taking the boys with me

Tommy · 21/12/2008 07:17

GlooooooRia - (sorry not enough Os there but can't be bothered to count) Why don't you join online? You can still get all the official SW stuff but don't go to meetings.

FWIW, if I'm going out or having a takeaway, I just forget about SW and have what I want or, if I'm attempting to be vaguely good, just have something that looks healthy and no pudding (this may be why my average loss is about 1/2pound a week but I'm getting there - slowly)

sugarlumps · 21/12/2008 15:48

does anyone know this weeks password???? mum hasnt been to group thia week so hasnt passed on the vital info lol!
cheers in advance
x

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 21/12/2008 19:32

thanks tommy. I might look into it after christmas. how do you do weigh-ins? do you have to buy special scales?

Tommy · 21/12/2008 21:39

I wouldn't have thought so - as long as you use the same scales at the same time each week

ckc · 22/12/2008 21:08

hiya folks I lost 2 1/2 this week so happy I've something to play with over Christmas blooming half a pound off my 2 stone well that won't be coming off in the next two week x

suchaco · 23/12/2008 18:50

Where has everyone gone?????

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 23/12/2008 22:19

I'm lurking but not losing

I know I said DM&F have bought me a sub to the mag for xmas, does anyone know which issue it will start with? Will it be the current new one?

Merry christmas everyone

Tommy · 23/12/2008 22:57

I'm stll lurking here and quite chuffed that I haven't completely blown it so far.

However, lunch tomorrow at Pizza Express followed by usual Christmas eats so God knows what the scales will say next week!

Hey ho - never mind. Have a lovely Christmas

ChristmasPresence · 27/12/2008 17:09

hi does anyone know this week's password? couldn't go last week as DS was ill. thanks x

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 28/12/2008 23:06

Hi guys, hope you're having a good xmas.

Just wantng a bit more advice if anyone can help. It is usually the time spent preparing meals that sabotages my efforts, so I was wondering about a slow cooker. Does anyone use one, are SW recipes easy to adapt, basically is it worth it? TIA

Furball · 29/12/2008 07:17

can I slink back in?

Started SW in march and lost 2 stone, had december off as I had literally 1 or 2 meals out every week beforehand. Christmas day I wasn't too bad but blimey since boxing day I've eaten literally my own body weight in mince pies, trifle and of course chocolate. feel physically crap for it as well.

Decided it can't wait and am just planning this weeks meals. Have weighed myself and put on (on my scales and in the morning so not quite true) 8 lbs

Furball · 29/12/2008 07:20

I have a slow cooker and it's fab! Most 'normaL' recipes I use are SW friendly anyway - have a shufty here (scroll down abit)

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 29/12/2008 10:00

Thanks furball.

I know what you mean about feeling the effects of xmas excesses

I have just taken delivery of the contents of DMs freezer as they are going away for 2 months tomorrow. I have the leftover xmas cakes to collect later. Crap as I feel I think I am waiting til 2nd Jan (or thereabouts) to restart my efforts as I am out NYD and need treats NYE as DH is working. Think I might start the new year exercise plan tomorrow though.

I am going to do next weeks meal plan and shopping list later today. Good luck.

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 29/12/2008 12:43

Hi All...hope you all had a fab x-mas!
Not been on this thread for a while (btw...it's me, FairLadyRantALot)!
Have been hovering around mid 10 stone for a while....hohum...but will not loose motivation to loose some more...! Kinda resinged myself to proper restart in the New Year, and for December my aim was to go into Damage Limitation mode, and that worked out quite well

Because of the festive days falling onto our ordinary Weigh in days we had the weigh ins on Mondays instead. Anyways, received the new books today...and itr seems to be to good to be true....but so much easier than ever. Lets hope it will work
It's a combination of the best bits of the core/no count WW plan and SW plan....so...superb in every sense...well...time weill tell if I loose anything on it, lol!

How is everyone else doing?

Furball · 29/12/2008 13:10

come on fairy - give us more info than that!

I've got the mag, but it doesn't tell you the rules only the menus

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 29/12/2008 13:25

well, basically your free foods are free anytime, but you don't have red and green days anymore...so, you can eat proper meetbolognese and pasta, and have potatoes and meet and stuff...and you don't have to measure portions....
just as you don't have to do now...

you only have 1a and 1 B choice, but syns ar unchanged...

no idea how it works though, lol....other than that you still eat low fat...

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 29/12/2008 13:26

meet...erm...cough...meat of course...

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 29/12/2008 13:51

new plan sounds interesting. Might have to go to group for a few weeks. I decided against joining on-line as you get the mag as part of it, and that would be a waste of my xmas prezzie. Can you still do red/green days if you want to?

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 29/12/2008 14:03

Ria....I suppose you could...no idea if those plans would be given out to new members, tbh....

wE WILL HAVE PROPER INTRO TO THE PLAN NEXT WEEK.oops, caps lock....

I am nto entirely clear here, if all the syn value in that big book are the smae....well,more to the point, if all the foods that were syn free will still be synfree....i.e. ready prepared stuff...like the Asda Chickpea Dahl....

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 29/12/2008 14:11

Have just been looking at the website, and am thinking about joining the slimathon. It might be agood idea for me to go to group, I'll just have to try and find a convenient one that won't mind if I take DS3, and is a different consultant to before.

sugarlumps · 29/12/2008 15:23

hey guys hope u had a lovely xmas!!!!
was supposed to be starting group today but it wasnt on, so im going to have to go next week! gonna be etra good til then though!

i have been sticking to the plan the last couple of days and have been really good, needed to be after the build up to xmas with all the choccies in the house!

BTW if anyone was thinking of trying the potato and kale cakes out of this months mag.... i dont reccomend them lol

ckc · 29/12/2008 21:02

hi girls hope you had a good Christmas weigh in tonight said i did i put 4lb on so i obviously did x

happynewRia · 30/12/2008 08:39

ok, new name new Ria (again)

feel like a hippo, my back is twingey and have decided enough is enough and I'm starting TODAY I will just manage the NYE/NYD festivities as best I can, because "managing occasions" is something I need to do, instead of having a full-on binge.

I am though, I have weighed in at only 2lb more than my last weigh-in on 1 Dec.

sill not decided about group, was maybe going to go today, but DH has to start work too early for me to organise dropping him off so I can have the car...

Furball · 30/12/2008 11:10
