sorry to hear about your gran ckc, but good to see you back.

I am too lurker (good to have you back too), and TBH I think all is lost now til after christmas. DH has invited my family here for lunch, so I have all the thankless tasks (mega DM-standard cleaning, on top of shopping, cards, wrapping, church, plays etc) and he will cook xmas day and will get all the glory. He has gone back to work but am to confess I am struggling a bit being on my own. (He has been off work almost 18 months, since DS3 was born), so this is my excuse that I have no time to think about food. I am going to put a SW mag in my stocking though!)

My parents are away for 2 months after xmas though, so that will be my time to re-motivate and kick some ass and hopefully they will see some results when they get back

festive waves to everyone else.

sugarlumps · 14/12/2008 17:09

right, i think i could be motivated, tuesday will be my first weigh in (after my 6 month break) so if i've lost at least 3lbs that should be me back on track (hopefully) today i have cooked a mahooooosive sunday dinner, with a quorn family roast, we had parsnips, carrots, brocolli, sweetcorn roast pots, cranberry sauce, stuffing and gravy, only 4 syns per serving so i didnt think that was too bad, im going to have left over quorn on ryvita for my tea, although to be honest with you im still quite full from all that lol!
fingers crossed for weigh in on tues!!!

ckc · 14/12/2008 21:22

thanks educatingria . not had a bad week girlie's hoping for the 31/2 pounds tomorrow for my 2 stone how i haven't picked up a bottle of wine this weekend is beyond me, i am so pretending its not christmas so i am not tempted by all the goodies then i can enjoy when it eventually gets here!!!! who the hell am i trying to kid lol x

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 14/12/2008 23:29

I have just asked DM&F for a SW mag subscription for my xmas prezzie. They were a bit but pleased that I am thinking that way.

Now this is a long shot, but does anyone have the copy of the mag from last year with Rebecca Wheatley in (Jan?) that they would be willing to sell me? Or could anyone who goes to group regularly get me a back issue from group? Please, paypal waiting! I read a quote from her saying "if I can do it anyone can" or similar.

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 14/12/2008 23:32

oh, I have admitted defeat and DM is doing christmas now as DH has one day off between now and the big day, and with 2 sick boys plus my man-flu I can't cope with the cleaning and shopping etc. I feel very guilty, but I should hopefully avoid a big mental hissy fit. And I will enjoy it more (but still need wine to get me through the run-up, so massive respect to you ckc)

sugarlumps · 15/12/2008 09:14

SWlurker · 16/12/2008 08:57

Well weirdly I have found the motivation to stick to the plan since friday - not one drop of alcohol this weekend which helped enormously. I have been making and eating vegetable soups like nobody's business!

Could have been helped along motivation-wise by a wedding this friday and outfit shopping last thurs that resulted in me throwing a big hissy fit and buying a pair of trousers that are the biggest I have ever bought!!!!! NOT impressed with myself and particularly unimpressed that a lot of it was due to comfort eating with men (eating fattening things together in a new relationship, then comfort eating when it all went wrong).

Does anyone know of a relatively low syn gravy, and how many syns it is per tea/tablespoon before its mixed with water? I do love a good roast and can happily have just vegetables and roast tatties which keeps it free up to that point, but I do like to smother it in gravy

Have a good eary christmas Ria, and nice to see peopel like sugarlumps too

OP posts:
GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 16/12/2008 09:20

yum gravy. Morrisons do a "better for you" one, but I don't know the syn count. Isn't it something like 2.5 syns for 1/4 pint?

well done for being motivated though lurker.

Lemontart · 16/12/2008 09:29

I cannot do this. I am conning myself into thinking I am when really all I am doing is SW main meals, black coffee and then cheat all the way in between. It is just so stupid. I am a grown woman and I am conning myself and feeling crap about it too.
I gave up on my SW group due to a few reasons and tbh don?t really want to go back. The oman is a bit Little Britain about it all and I just felt even worse once a week. Aaaaaaagh why did it go so horribly wrong?? I had lost a lot and was sticking to it well. DH is on track and goes to group every week, bless him. I have to hide my stash of chocolate to stop him going off the rails - which makes me feel even more horrible. Hiding chocolate in my own home!
Deep breath time.
I cannot do this now until Christmas, too many obligatory coffee and mince pie, Christmas cake and chocolate. How stupid would I be to try to limit my wickedness over Christmas and make a concerted effort on Jan 1st to remove everything bad and try again?
Or am I conning myself and should start now??
So damn confused but sick of the conning myself into thinking I am being "half good" when really I am having good food AND the bad - double the quantity probably.

Sorry for the wailing and ranting. Been something building up over the last few weeks. In fact, I think since I realised I was not going to lose enough to buy nice Christmassy outfits, would just make do with my "fat" party clothes and not go out at New Year Now I have allowed myself to be frumpy, avoid anywhere that will be "glamorous" or dolled up, I can relax and pig out
Help!!! Anyone got a big foot to kick me into action and out of slobbery?

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 16/12/2008 09:58

lemontart. I am in a glasshouse/stone-throwing situation here, so can only offer support for how you are feeling. If you decide to stay off-plan and then start afresh in the new year (this is my current plan because I can't cope with what I have to do, let alone meal planning), would that lift the "conning yourself" aspect and so in turn limit the damage that you could do otherwise? (rather than what you described of eating on-plan, plus extras). Is there another group you could go to with a different leader? (I don't go to group for similar reasons, and - I know this is silly - I won't go to the group in my village because I will know people)

The clothes thing is . I have just spent the vouchers DM gave me last year (for new clothes when I had lost weight) on boots because I haven't kept off enough to buy anything new.

SWlurker · 16/12/2008 12:18

Oh lemontart I know how you feel, been there done that.

What you do over Christmas is entirely your choice. Would you prefer to say s*d it completely and have a fresh start on the 1st, having got the most tempting period of the year and all the cravings for naughty food out of the way, or would you prefer to damage limit and be moderately sensible whilst accepting that you aren't going to stick 100% to plan? I get the impression you're in no mans land, doing what I've done all year and eating the right foods but the wrong ones too.

My advice would be either be a bit sensible, so plan in advance... if you're going over to so and so's to visit, allow yourself say 5 chocolates or 1 mince pie or one slice of cake - something that you think is realistic and achievable. Eat food optimising foods where possible, and BANISH THE GUILT! If you're like me, feeling guilty only makes me comfort eat mroe anyway with a "oh well I've already blown it" philosophy, so if you say "ok I'm allowed 20 syns a day" or 2 mince pies a day or WHATEVER level you feel you can realistically stick to, at least you are still in control at the most difficult time of year.

The other plan would be to say right, stuff it, I'm going to compeltely ignore SW eating until the 1st. Eat whatever you want that is non-SW for your main meals too - that way when it comes to the 1st you won't feel like you've been eating the same foods but been gaining, you'll feel like you've had a complete break and your body will appreciate the change when you come to sticking to it again.

Whatever you choose to do, make a decision, stick to it and DON'T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT! we're all only human.

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 16/12/2008 12:40

good advice there lurker

Lemontart · 16/12/2008 12:52

thank you

I think I will go with your plan a) and try to limit the damage but enjoy Christmas a little!

sugarlumps · 16/12/2008 17:54

i have done things both ways! i started a fresh last jan the 1st and found because it was my new years resolution to lose weight i was more motivated, and the closer i got to target the less and less i did the diet hence piling nearly a stone back on!

today was my first weigh in, since starting the plan last week and i lost 2 1/2lbs, but still i cant get motivavted really, im hoping to lose 4 lbs this week, but i doubt it!

i think i will be more motivated i january (i bloody hope so coz i want to get down to 10stone this time instead of 10.9lbs) just trying to limit the damage where possible until then!!!!!

dont feel guilty lemontart (love the name) i know its hard not too, but hey it is xmas!!!!! lol
ps good to see u here too lurker ;)

ckc · 16/12/2008 21:29

oh my 1\2 a pound of this week 1\2 a pound what is all that about??????????????? tell you glooooooooooooooria i bet i would have had a better loss if i would of had the wine, i said this last night, when ever i don't have a bottle i either maintain or lose nothing tell you what you don't have to push me to the alcohol isle 24 hour asda anyone need a lift

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 16/12/2008 21:42

congrats on the losses.

doesn't wine have fat-burning properties? or did I make that up

ckc · 16/12/2008 22:05

yippeee lets hope you didn't 3 for £10 3 for £10 3 for £10, and for those of you who are taking this diet seriously please don't try this at home x

GloooooooooooooooooooRia · 16/12/2008 22:10

enjoy!!!

Tommy · 17/12/2008 19:32

well, I managed half a pound off this week but have a party at toddler group tomorrow and then going out to friends' for dinner. I think I will put it all on hold until after the holiday.

I'm trying to be good the rest of the time!

ChangeFattyChange · 19/12/2008 16:59

Hi all! I'm new and a bit down as I've just put on 2lbs after a 3lb lose last week and now Christmas is coming....
Supposed to be going away for a dream holiday to Miami, Thailand and Australia next year in JULY but I want (MUST) lose weight before I go...it so hard especially as I'm the only 'fat' girl going...

Tommy · 20/12/2008 09:32

don't start your diet now change! You'll just get depressed. Go for it after Christmas and we'll soon have you down to a svelte bikini wearing girl ready for your holiday
