Keeping my weightless accountable

I have been reading weight loss threads and have missed the boat to join at the start with others losing weight, so am starting another one in an attempt to keep myself accountable in losing weight.

I am 5ft7 and perimenopausal. On HRT and have been eating my way steadily to obesity. According to last check in with GP i was obese and I want not to be.

I started last weekend and have lost a little bit of weight, just need to keep going and not lose the run of myself

SW 90kg
CW 87.5kg
GW ? 80kg for now

I walk the dog 3x a day, row for 20 minutes 3x a week and have just started a weekly team sport. I want to fit in a run or an exercise class at some point each week but will leave that until my knees feel better.

Currently aiming for around 1600-1700 calories a day. If I go too low I lose the plot and attack the biscuits.

Here i go.

Well done @Excellentboiledpotato!

Im down another 2lbs this morning, but still in the ‘losing food volume’ stage rather than losing fat I imagine, we’ll see what happens once I’m stable on lower food intake… Just got to stay strong and ignore the food cravings.

Good going! And almost halfway to the 1st GW too, that's great.

I read something recently about how hunger pangs and food cravings really only last a short while and if you can distract yourself (or even just acknowledge you feel them but then let it pass rather than holding onto them) for just five minutes or so then it disappears.

I tried it, it does work! Not as a way to skip meals, just for the idle "bored now, oh, I have no biscuits in my hands, should put biscuits in my hands then eat the biscuits" type thoughts.

DD has come home from school with a peach Swiss roll cake with cream icing. Dear me. It is delightful. I have had 50g if it (weighed in secret, she doesn't need to see me do this, and recorded for accountability).

Now to remind myself that I have eaten some, I know what it tastes like and I don't need to try any more just to double check the flavours.

fairsintown · 23/09/2026 21:33

Well done for trying some and stopping! Impressive self control. I struggle with ‘just a bit’ and find it easier to avoid sweet things completely than just have some.

Excellentboiledpotato · 24/09/2026 00:04

@fairsintown I have to cut out completely normally, otherwise it is a swift fall back to binge eating patterns. But DD was so pleased with what she had made I took the risk. Did not eat more!

Definitely below 86kg now, that is good to see. Busy day ahead here - work, parent's evening, drop a child at activity, then football. And walk dog x2.

Am tired this morning. 1hr football last night plus 20 min row this morning. Am off out for brunch though... just need to scale back lunch after. This is another trigger point for me just giving in to temptation for the next month few days. It's only one meal, no need to give up.

Well done @Excellentboiledpotato! Enjoy the brunch. I figure the occasional treat keeps you going, but it’s hard to moderate!

Birthday cake is a must!
Lunch out was excellent, so good to catch up over a long (and plentiful) lunch.

Need to not use this as an excuse to fall into old patterns and eat too much again.

Have boomeranged back to 87kg this morning, I suspect it was delayed response to two days of meals out.

My jeans feel a bit looser this morning. Need to remind myself that the general trend is downwards, and it is just a case of being consistent.

fairsintown · 28/09/2026 11:40

Yup! That’s the danger with daily weighing, you see all the little fluctuations, but I’d still rather that and have the data. You are right you need to focus on the general trend. It’s not really a 1kg gain in a day, just a food fluctuation!

I’ve also had a heavy weekend food wise, but it’s all been good nutritious stuff, so I’m also focusing on the trend - half a stone down in week 1 🎉 onwards and hopefully downwards!

Rushed this morning - exercise class at 7.30am, back by 8.20, walked dog, shower and at desk for work.

Half a stone in week one is epic @fairsintown well done!

And yes, daily weighing shows the varied weights but I've realised if I don't do it then it very quickly becomes a once a week then month and then it becomes a problem facing up to weight gain. This keeps me accountable!

No weight change this morning. Suspect this may be linked to building work outside front of house and not wanting to...disturb... the builders with my bodily functions. Or be disturbed - on monday almost every time I went to the toilet a builder needed to talk to me about something or other. Typical.

Had my 20 minute row and first dog walk. Arms are aching after exercise class yesterday. Definitely going back next week!

Still consistently eating under TDEE but yesterday was only 50 cals or so under, need to be consistent in 1500 cars intake. Can't tell myself I can eat exercise calories as I always end up over eating them.

Well done!!! And I’m sorry, but I did lol at the “difficulty” with the builders! Well done on keeping going with the healthy eating and exercise. I’m also trying to take one day at a time to stay on track.

Builders left an hour ago. Difficulties have since...eased. 😂 hopefully will show a loss tomorrow!

And well done @fairsintown on your consistency and another lb down. Now closer to goal than start weight!
