Hello Everyone, Happy June 🤩

Here is our monthly thread for recording your daily steps, and having a chat along the way. Everyone is welcome, whatever your goal is and however you track it 😃

May was a bit of a flop for me, as I was away and out of routine.
I know for others, with the UK heatwave it was a tricky one some days!
Now I am ready and raring to go for June, and I am hoping to hit the 10k every single day!

As always this thread has been very motivational and encouraging so please join in, and lets get those steps in 😁

Ended the week on 50608 which gives an average of 7230 per day. Will try for more next week.

Onegramatatime · 21/06/2026 23:59

11,984 steps today.

It was a quiet but good day.
No workout. Too tired.

Actually I’ve just looked and my average for steps this month is 9606. Hopefully if I can raise my total for the rest of June I can increase my average.

WorthySloth · 22/06/2026 22:48

10123 steps today 😁 work tomorrow and sleeping in so not sure how many I will manage.

good luck everyone it’s challenging in this heat isn’t it?

10kstepsaday · 23/06/2026 08:06

Hello All! Sorry for going AWOL! The heat and Fathers Day weekend plans have sent me completely off routine and each night I got in bed so tired and then thought oh! I need to go get my laptop to post... and then I didnt!
How have you all been? The heat has been crazy where I am and this week is going to be tough! All my work trips have cancelled due to the weather warning so I am WFH all week now. Intending to finish June strong!

@Onegramatatime did you enjoy lessons in chemistry? Enjoy crawdads!
I have just finished a book called "The Cruel Prince" not my usual cup of tea but I did enjoy it overall. Not sure I would recommend it to everyone though!

well done @Joolly2 on getting your 12k in!

well done @Clearingaspace I love the get fit with rick videos!

well done @WorthySloth amazing!!

You are all doing great. I think I must have done about 15k across the last 3 days !! so back to it today 😃

Only managed 5k yesterday 🙁 I am really struggling in this heat. We did get a shower of rain last evening which gave some temporary relief but the temperature returned quickly afterwards.

SilenceInside · 23/06/2026 09:28

Just realised it’s been almost two weeks since I last posted an update, didn’t realise it had been so long. June is going better than May, which is what I was aiming for. So far, only two days where I didn’t hit the 10k, one due to illness and the other due to just feeling totally exhausted and running out of time to get the steps in. Got to 8.5k that day though so not too far off.

11,103 steps yesterday.

Very hot weather yesterday but i was determined.

Today, it's already HOT and it is 9:30am. I could not wake up early enough to get some steps in with an early morning walk - was too tired + the monthlies is on it's way. I feel a bit crap.
I have been thinking of ways to get my 10k steps in. If i belonged to a gym, I would go there but as I don't, the mind is a-thinking! I would not let this weather beat me.

@10kstepsaday , i thoroughly enjoyed Lessons in Chemistry. I have started Where The Crawdads Sing. Welcome back. How was Norfolk?

WorthySloth · 23/06/2026 10:06

@SilenceInside you’ve just inspired me to look at last month and in may I averaged 8621 steps per day so I’m currently doing better than that!

Clearingaspace · 23/06/2026 11:07

@Onegramatatime well done for yesterdayi I only did 7000 yesterday as I felt really grotty and not in the mood for walking. I felt the same this morning , slept super badly as thunder and lightning but also woke up around 4:50 as it was weirdly bright - unfortunately dh was determined and dragged me out of bed for an early walk before it got too hot. I had to leave poor dc3 to make her own toast! Fingers crossed you can find a cool spot for some steps today.

@WorthySloth its really motivating to keep an eye on different stats. I am down this month but I am still doing more than this time last year and for quite a while I was doing significantly less than last year

Clearingaspace · 23/06/2026 11:10

Just to clarify DC is 15 but child no 3, not dc aged 3 😂

10kstepsaday · 23/06/2026 22:08

@Joolly2 the heat is horrendous, I feel like I can't move. Any amount of steps is a triumph atm!!

Hello @SilenceInside and wow well done for keeping going! That is very impressive!!

Well done @Onegramatatime admire the determination! Hope you are feeling better now. I havent been to Norfolk though 😬

Well done for an early walk @Clearingaspace
That made me laugh about DC3, imagining a 3 yo buttering their own toast ready for their breakfast! haha!

I am finishing today at 9896 which I am very happy with.
I did go for a short walk in the sunshine. Two ladies stopped me and commented on why I wasnt wearing a hat or had water with me! Realised I need to buy a nice sun hat, I don't own any!!

14,730 steps so far today.

This afternoon I realised that for the first time in ages, i am 7 days away from doing a minimum of 10K steps every single day for that month. My resolve to not be beaten by the heat became stronger. I am really proud of myself. And of this group. We encourage and support each other. Here's hoping i stay consistent for the next 7 days.

@10kstepsaday , why did i think you had gone to Norfolk 🤦‍♀️!! Apologies.😅
I haven't been either but must correct that one of these days.

Well done !! @Clearingaspace for that early morning walk. Well done to @WorthySloth & @SilenceInside too. @Joolly2 , i was delighted to hear the thunder and rain last night, i thought 'wow! They got it wrong it is going to be cool today!'. How wrong was i?! How ate you today? I trust okay and you have kept away from the heat.

Portable air conditioners are out of stock everywhere.

Finished yesterday on 5398 which isn’t bad for a day at work and a sleep in 😊 steps will be up at the weekend because I’m away. Today I will have to see how it goes because of the heat.

SilenceInside · 24/06/2026 08:50

Hope everyone stays as cool as possible in the heat today 🌞

taratill · 24/06/2026 11:00

Not updated for a bit but I had two days when I didn't make 10k last week (around 8 each day) and since then I've done over 15k per day.

This morning I was up at 6 and straight out to walk dogs before the heat was too much, 16,035 so far today.

taratill · 24/06/2026 11:00

Oh what app do you all use to record steps? I don't think my steps are retained on my apple watch.

SilenceInside · 24/06/2026 11:07

@taratill that's an amazing total! I'm only on 800 steps so far as I have not left the house and I'm working from home so sat at my desk.

How far/long do you walk for that number of steps?

I just use my Apple watch for steps, they are all there on the Fitness app on my iPhone. I also have another app called StepsApp, the free version, which also shows the steps and gives more detail and alerts than the Apple Fitness app.

taratill · 24/06/2026 11:14

Hi @SilenceInside , I was walking around 2.5 hours and a distance of around 9 km. The dogs really enjoyed it bit it was HOT by the time I was back.

Thanks for the app recommendation, I'll have a look at the Fitness App and will download the StepsApp too.

Clearingaspace · 24/06/2026 13:21

Well done @taratill . I also just check Apple health for my steps

fingers crossed for your 7 day goal @Onegramatatime

that’s funny @10kstepsaday about the ladies telling you off! I haven’t seen hardly anyone with a hat (London) so they would be busy here! The only time old ladies used to tell me off was when I was a young(ish) mum and maybe had a dc in the pushchair without shoes (usually because they had kicked one off or it was too hot). My dc run hot and often dont want to wear coats as well, which drew tuts from family!

14320 yesterday but currently wfh and on 700 so not looking good (and how are my low steps even possible)

10kstepsaday · 24/06/2026 22:04

@Onegramatatime so a trip to Norfolk, Finland and Norway has been planned within this thread 😃

@Clearingaspace I know! I have added a lovely Eleanor Bowmer Hat to my shopping basket waiting for payday, but then the heatwave will probably have passed and it will be raining every day again 😅

Finishing today on 9235. I went for an extended school run walk this morning and even then before 9.00am it was sooo scorchio. barely moved for the rest of the day!!

Joolly2 · 25/06/2026 15:17

Good afternoon, I havent posted for a couple of days. I've been holed up in one room in my house, windows shut, curtains drawn. I've only ventured out at night when it's dark to water the garden. It's miserable, I've not been able to do anything because of the heat. 3 days this week have been a right off. I'm old, I can't afford to waste valuable days 😄. Never mind, as soon as the mercury drops I'll bounce back.
Negligible steps to report.

JulietteHasAGun · 25/06/2026 17:38

I’ve only done 5k today and yesterday and using the heat as an excuse. Feel bad now. Well done to those who are powering through. 💪😀

WorthySloth · 25/06/2026 22:06

10673 for me today! Might have added to my steps with a mini pub crawl this evening 🤣🤣
