Hello Everyone, Happy June 🤩

Here is our monthly thread for recording your daily steps, and having a chat along the way. Everyone is welcome, whatever your goal is and however you track it 😃

May was a bit of a flop for me, as I was away and out of routine.
I know for others, with the UK heatwave it was a tricky one some days!
Now I am ready and raring to go for June, and I am hoping to hit the 10k every single day!

As always this thread has been very motivational and encouraging so please join in, and lets get those steps in 😁

Currently at 10808 - but it felt like way more for some reason!

@Onegramatatime i am with you- how is what’s app social media? I guess things like street group chats?

I will have to check that book out @10kstepsaday. I am similar with reading @Joolly2 and can get too absorbed in good books. I remember my mum giving up reading for the same reason when I was a child. I keep hearing things like 75 hard where people read for 10/15 minutes a day - I don’t have that skill - I either read nothing at all or all day!

hope you are ok @minnymoobear 15000 today us excellent!

good plan to look across the week @WorthySloth

well done @JulietteHasAGun it feels more satisfying in a way when the walk has a useful destination!

WorthySloth · 04/06/2026 06:41

@10kstepsadayI am a support worker for adults with learning and physical disabilities. We are a challenging home so I’m generally covered in bruises 🤣🤣

one of them loves to walk so if you are with him that’s probably 20k steps others don’t which is when I’ll spend a lot of the day in the car or sitting outside someone’s room etc.

it’s good fun and flexible and I generally do 3 12 hour shifts a week so it actually feels part time 🤣🤣

Onegramatatime · 04/06/2026 07:17

Fell asleep when posting this last night.

Welcome, @JulietteHasAGun .

I did manage and get my steps in yesterday - 11,505.

@10kstepsaday , 'Of human bondage' sounds interesting. I will look it up. I pick up 'Where the Crawdads sing' today.

A good book can be really engrossing. I used to push everything else aside and nothing will get done but i now use it as a reward. Get my stuff done then i can read.

@Clearingaspace , yes, there are other functions introduced into WhatsApp now the public group chats etc. Maybe with time, for people, that bit will have the greater focus/more popular, for me it's still akin to texts/phone calls.

@WorthySloth , i did similar as you but with children. It is such hard work and can be challenging but it is rewarding.

Have a lovely day, everyone.

10kstepsaday · 04/06/2026 20:16

Well Done @JulietteHasAGun it definitely gets you thinking of how to get more steps when normally you would drive etc.

@Joolly2 4 books a week is insane! even on holiday for 2 weeks straight I only read 3 books!

I am at 9k atm... will do a few laps around the house and report back!!

Sorry missed a few posts!

@WorthySloth that sounds like a very rewarding and interesting role!

@Onegramatatime I have Where the Crawdads Sing on my TBR pile.
I have switched to kindle for a while as I got 3 months of Kindle Unlimited to use up. Trying to get as much out of it as I can - then will cancel before it charges me 😅

This is going well 😭😭 on 5200 today 😭😭 absolutely exhausted tho so not going to add to them. It’s been a draining day and I have bruises on my bruises 🤣🤣

4 days off now and lots of walking dancing and drinking so hopefully should pull my steps back for the week 😊

WorthySloth · 04/06/2026 20:56

Where the crawdads sing was actually really good I thought. Wasn’t an easy read in parts tho.

Joolly2 · 04/06/2026 23:00

@WorthySloth I loved Where the Crawdads Sing. I agree parts were difficult/sad but well worth the read.
@10kstepsaday I agree 4 books a week is ridiculous, hence the break 😄. I'll be back on it soon though, I'm a bit lost without a book in my hands.
Total steps today 10,172

Clearingaspace · 04/06/2026 23:23

Hi all

15842 steps today - super tired so hope I sleep well

Onegramatatime · 05/06/2026 00:16

Today's steps - 13,763.

I got 'Where the Crawdads Sing' today but didn't start reading it. I feel like i need to be ready before i start it.
I had a look to at 'Of Human Bondage'. I read the blurb, it looks interesting. Good reviews too.

I understand the 'feeling a bit lost without a book in your hands'. I carry a book about with me always.
I saw a young girl reading as she walked the other day and i passed her on my way back, still reading as she walked, on her way to wherever she was going! Deeply engrossed. It made me smile.
I wondered if i am able to read and walk at the same time now. Years back (pre-children), i could.

Thats sweet about the young girl engrossed in a book. I am glad that the predictions that books would become a thing of the past were not true. Actually books have lasted a lot better than magazines, I would have always got a magazine in my late teens/early 20s, say when going on holiday, whereas my kids will buy books at the airport, but not magazines . My youngest (15) also loves collecting DVDs, vinyl etc and hates fast fashion. Kind of gives me hope that AI will calm down in future years snd just be useful but not quite as detrimental as we fear for jobs etc.

WorthySloth · 05/06/2026 11:21

one of my daughters is a huge fan of a physical book. She also does a lot of crafting. Another is obsessed with diamond art. Youngest has claimed our cd player and searches charity shops for dvds. All three plus my son are obsessed with Lego. None are impressed with AI

WorthySloth · 05/06/2026 11:52

Anyway. I’m in Birmingham for my weekend away and on 3.5k steps so far. Had a spoons breakfast so let’s see what happens today!

10kstepsaday · 05/06/2026 15:09

Aw don't worry @WorthySloth
Hope you are ok and are having a better day today - a spoons breakfast is a great start!!

Well Done @Joolly2 @Clearingaspace @Onegramatatime
Wow I wish I could read and walk at the same time 😯

Yesterday I finished at 10,191.

Today I went for an extended school run walk, it was nice in the sunshine.
Otherwise been at my desk all day. A few laps around the house will be needed I think as we are having a family Movie night tonight!

OP posts:
Clearingaspace · 05/06/2026 15:31

Enjoy your weekend @WorthySloth!

@10kstepsaday enjoy movie night! i watched an interesting YouTube video about a woman who lost 50lbs, mainly through walking 20k steps a day, and she would use a walking pad while watching movies with her kids - not sure about yours but my kids would not be happy with that at all!

Joolly2 · 05/06/2026 23:35

Help, my name is Joolly2 and I am an addict, a book addict. I succumbed, to the temptation and read a teensy weensy little book today. It was so small I don't think it counts. I'm right aren't I. I'll try harder tomorrow. Having a break is harder than I thought it would be.
17,726 steps today and no i cant walk and read at the same time. Im of an age where a fall would probably mean a broken hip.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

WorthySloth · 06/06/2026 00:13

Ended the day on 18233 so happy with that. Already on 500 ready for today 😊

10kstepsaday · 06/06/2026 08:29

@Clearingaspace wow 20k a day is crazy to keep up consistently. My kids would also not be happy with that during movie time!!

@Joolly2 there are worse addictions! 😂

Well Done @WorthySloth
And an award for starting the next day immediately

Yesterday I finished the day @ 11,122 (love a nice number like that!)

Today I am going to another Hot Yoga class and then we have visitors in the afternoon. So not too much opportunity for going out for a walk - it is rather rainy and dreary outside anyway. It is still on my wishlist to get a walking pad!

OP posts:
WorthySloth · 06/06/2026 12:42

On 3.6k today so far. Just eaten lunch drinking Guinness and waiting to head to the ska gig we are going to this afternoon 😁 lots of skanking to get my steps up 👍

on target to hit 70k by Sunday

Clearingaspace · 06/06/2026 13:43

Brilliant, have fun @WorthySloth

ooh enjoy hot yoga @10kstepsaday thsts supposed to have similar benefits to sauna etc! I find yoga super hard do can’t imagine doing hot yoga!

Clearingaspace · 06/06/2026 13:50

Oh 12300 yesterday, I thought it was more but my count went down again! I think maybe there is double counting with my watch and phone syncing being sorted out - or I am getting confused with weekly count in my drunken Friday night state! Weekly average currently 13026

I am cautiously thinking about logging something else such as push-ups attempts or daily squats. I often see info on how beneficial it is to do squats after a meal or heel raises while brushing teeth etc but never do these things. should I log here or start a separate thread?

10kstepsaday · 06/06/2026 22:18

Sounds like a great time @WorthySloth

@Clearingaspace The yoga class was great, I am planning on going again tomorrow. It is hard and I am relatively new to it but really enjoying it.

That sounds great! Whatever you wish - feel free to log here or if you want to keep it separate on a different thread. I'm a fan of a side quest!

I'm finishing today on 10,780. I am going to share a screenshot 1 x per week now I am posting from a laptop instead of my phone. Will need to email the screenshot to myself first 😂

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Good morning, forgot to post yesterday. Just scraped 10k. No photo as I only remembered after 12 and watch had zeroed. 😀

WorthySloth · 07/06/2026 09:23

16102 steps yesterday. As long as I hit 5.5k steps today I will be on target… I should easily manage double that tbh.

10kstepsaday · 07/06/2026 21:25

Well done everyone. I am afraid I am finishing today at 7850, and off to bed now.
Sooooo tired. One day I really will get the target 100% of the month.
