Hello Again Everyone 🤩

Welcome to the May thread for recording your daily steps!
Everyone welcome, whatever your goal is and however you track it 😃

I feel May is going to be a trickier month for me, as I am on holiday for 2 weeks (and plan on spending most of it horizontal in the sun 🤣) however I will still be aiming for 10k where I can and joining in with the accountability.

This thread previously has been so motivational and encouraging so I just know May is going to be another awesome month for everyone, with lots of lovely sunny walks incoming!! ☀️

I have managed 11,974 steps today, pleased with that. I'm going to try really hard to beat April. Not brave enough to raise my target but in my head I'll try and aim for 11,000.

Kicked the month off in style! Busy morning, lunchtime walk (and chat) then even run. Forced myself out and felt better for it.

Day at home with the dc tomorrow so need to not slack off.

Just completed a very sweaty Parkrun before heading off to the airport ..clocked on just under 40mins so I'm chuffed with that.

Today my steps were mostly gained shopping for holiday clothes! We definitely shopped till we dropped and I feel exhausted now (as does my bank balance 😅).

My side quest this month, involves me having a whole month off social media (excluding mumsnet obviously!). Partly because of my upcoming holiday, I want to fully enjoy the rest without doom scrolling but also to try to quieten my mind a little this month. my anxiety has been increasing recently! I already feel 10x better and have spent more time reading on my Kindle than I was before, yay!

A good count for me today. I took myself off for a nice long walk and listened to my audiobook, bliss.

@10kstepsadayI gave up social media (except Mumsnet!) over a year ago - and haven’t looked back. It’s definitely reduced my anxiety, plus I read a book at night and get to sleep much easier as a result.

My plan for May is to learn to get my exercise in early, before work. I need to keep myself accountable here as I’m terrible for just going back to sleep!

A mixed start to May for me. I was so tired on Friday and just a bit fed up, only managed 5.5k steps. Have pulled it back today and got up to 18.2k today thanks to walking into town and back, plus a training run on the treadmill.

@Yesreallyitsmewow that's awesome no SM for over a year! I am definitely intrigued. I feel a bit of FOMO but I am guessing that would wear off as time goes on.

I am only at 6K today and heading to bed. I think I need a chill day, has a lie in, been reading my book and done a small bit of gardening. Just a nice slow Sunday!
Tomorrow I am going to a hot yoga class, looking forward to it 🧘‍♀️

@10kstepsaday , did you get any nice things you are excited to wear during holiday clothes shopping? Your days sounds nice.

I did about 13k steps today.
I weigh weekly on sunday mornings abd the scale said i had gained 1 kg in the last 7 days. So disheartening, was really glad i pushed through that and went on a walk.

@Onegramatatime could your gain be due to your increased exercise. Could you be developing more muscle mass which weighs more than fat? Don't get despondent.
I've only managed 7,000 steps today, pilates this morning was very intense and I am really feeling it in my legs. I will try and make up the deficit tomorrow.
@Illbefinejustbloodyfine how did you get on today?
Over the weekend I read Where the Crawdads Sing - It's a book that will stay with me for a long time, I was so sad to finish it. The language was beautiful and created such vivid pictures. Highly recommended.

Hi just found you and joined as been walking in the sun this week - it’s been a lot of effort for me but much needed and have enjoyed the focus!

  • friday was 9460
  • saturday was 12842 and similar today so have averaged over 10k a day - woo hoo!!
have been way more active than normal with household cleaning and chores but it’s the time out for a walk that’s made the biggest difference.

when I remember, I also put on my weighted vest that’s been sitting in a corner for months!

@Onegramatatime I did get some nice clothes however I am in a funk ATM with my weight and body - I know changing rooms are notoriously bad for this but trying on dresses for holiday and all made me feel so frumpy!

@Joolly2 where the crawdads sing is sat on my TBR pile!! I have heard it is very good! I think it's being made into a film?

A weighted vest! I have never thought about getting one of those but what a good way to increase calories burned/build muscle strength!

@Onegramatatimeit feels crap when the scales don’t go in the right direction - I would say however that my weight fluctuates wildly throughout the month, and I’m at least 3lbs heavier on the days approaching my period. Perhaps something like that is affecting your weigh in? Well done for pushing through and getting out for a walk.

i managed just over 10k yesterday in the end.
