Ok, maybe not a full half stone, but 5lbs would be nice! I've been invited to a Halloween party and am feeling so self-conscious about my appearance. I'm about 3 stone overweight and I'd love to get it shifted, and while 5lbs might not be terribly noticeable I guess I'd feel more confident. I've been trying for about a month without any real success, so I'm going to start keeping a food diary on here from now til Halloween and log my exercise. If anyone would like to join me please do! Sometimes a short-term goal feels more achievable than a 'by Christmas' type thread.

I’d like to lose 5lbs by the day after Halloween! I’ve a girls boozy day out 1st November. I’ve a lush pair of trousers I want to wear. They fit..but would look better if I could shift a few more lbs.

I’m calorie counting and weight training with some cardio. Will be starting tomorrow as we’re having a ‘too tired to cook so eat any junk we can find day’! I have also just opened a bottle of wine….

Weighed myself this morning. 10st 9.2lbs. (I was once over 16st!).

Cancelled my plans for an early morning gym workout but will do a session with kettlebells and dumbbells in the house in a mo.

Yay, so glad you guys are joining me! How's today gone? I've had:

Breakfast: Oat bar - 100
Juice - 100
Satsuma - 50

Lunch: Guacamole - 100
Red pepper - 50
Seeded flatbread - 100
Babybel - 70
Pear - 100
Cake bar - 100

Dinner: Roast veggie stew - dunno, 400 maybe?
Yoghurt - 50
Cake bar - 100

Total: 1350. I'm happy with that! I might have some diluted juice in a bit so it'll probably be more like 1400, but that's ok. I had one walk of around half an hour.

I have some small (but heavy!) dumbbells I haven't yet used. I don't really know what I'm doing with them. Can you recommend any vids on Youtube that I could follow? I'm a complete beginner with weights, and very easily bored so nothing too dull.

Me too, I also have 3 stone to lose and doing it 5lb at a time sounds more manageable. I’ll weigh in once a week.

Just do a search for something like ‘dumbbell workout for beginners’. I’ve been weight training on and off for years so I’ve picked up stuff from other gym users or from gym classes. If you have kettle bells Joe Wicks has some good workouts. You can find videos that have 10 minute workouts if you get bored easily.

Breakfast: Juice - 100

Lunch: Cottage cheese - 150
Sweetcorn - 50
Celery and spring onions - negligible
Seeded flatbread - 100
Cake bar - 100

Dinner: Gnocchi - 450
Vegetarian 'meatballs' - 200
Babyleaf salad
Salad dressing (damn you olive oil!!) - 150

Total: 1300

And a walk of around 50 mins today.

I’m on 1445 calories today which I’m happy with. I’ve also done 10k steps (just going to and from work).

Slightly went over my calorie allowance yesterday but a gym workout and long walk more than made up for it. 0.8lb gone since first post.

Weight training done for the day, meals all planned out and a slow run after work.

No lunch

Dinner: Mediterranean grains with halloumi - 500
Lettuce - negligible
Yoghurt - 50
Banana - 100
Cereal bar - 100

Total: 1250

(I may well get hungry again and have a small snack later though)

I walked for 50 minutes today.

Another good day for me today. Around 1500 again and 10k steps. Even though it’s not a very big achievement, I’ve not been able to control my food for months so having this thread has helped massively already.

I want to lose like 10kg before my sisters wedding in February so need to start somewhere.
I started gym classes last week so aiming to do 3 a week and some walks when I have time.
Calorie counting also so aiming to be below 1500 calories every day.

my food diary today:

B: yogurt and fruit
L: roast beef, potatoes, carrots
D: chicken goujons
and I will prob have a small bar of chocolate with my tea later. That’s about 1550 calories so not bad. I went for a 3km walk too so happy enough with today 🙌🏼

Dinner: Massive bowl of tomato and chickpea soup - 400
Yoghurt - 50
Banana - 100
Cake bar - 100

Total: 1400

That'll do! I had a walk of about 45 minutes.

Total: 1500. A bit disappointed with that. I don't feel like I've eaten so very much! I had a walk of around 35 minutes.

I’ve had 1612 calories today and I’m starving 🤣

Did my gym class this morning and a 20 minute walk at lunch time so happy with that.

I did well yesterday in the sense that I didn’t eat much but that was because I had a hideously long day working and went straight to bed without eating

Oh I hate that! I can skip breakfast fine, lunch if I have to, but I HATE going to be without dinner!!!

Total: 1750! And no exercise at all. Zilch. Not a great day really.
