Half a stone by Halloween - join me!

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 12/10/2025 18:08

Ok, maybe not a full half stone, but 5lbs would be nice! I've been invited to a Halloween party and am feeling so self-conscious about my appearance. I'm about 3 stone overweight and I'd love to get it shifted, and while 5lbs might not be terribly noticeable I guess I'd feel more confident. I've been trying for about a month without any real success, so I'm going to start keeping a food diary on here from now til Halloween and log my exercise. If anyone would like to join me please do! Sometimes a short-term goal feels more achievable than a 'by Christmas' type thread.

Halloween today! I'm officially extending the thread though! Shall we see where we're all at on the last day of next month? I've chickened out of the party I had been going to tonight. Officially because of the high winds, it being a 50 minute drive and me being knackered, but really because I'm feeling too self-conscious still. I've lost 4lbs since the start of this thread but at least 3 of them have come off my boobs, and none off my middle!

Anyway!!! How are you all getting on?

OP posts:
SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 31/10/2025 19:40

Today:

Breakfast: Juice - 100

Lunch: Houmous - 200
Cucumber sticks - negligible
Flatbread - 200
Satsuma - 50
Cake bar - 100

Dinner: Fake 'chicken' wrap - 500
Cherries - 100
Yoghurt - 50
Oat bar - 250

Total: 1550

Dammit!! I feel like I've hardly eaten anything today! It's really annoying how the calories can rack up fast without you realising. I had one walk of about 40 minutes.

Yes happy to stay along until December. I’m not drinking for a few weeks so hoping to see some weight loss this time.

TC2023 · 31/10/2025 21:44

I had 1860 calories today, don’t even know how, thought I only had a few little Halloween treats 😅🙈 I did go to the gym this morning though so hopefully won’t do too much damage if it’s can get back to it again tomorrow.

glad we are keeping the thread going, fingers crossed for some good losses for us all by this time next month 🙌🏼

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 01/11/2025 19:10

@TC2023 That's the worst isn't it, when you don't even know how it happened!

What, the half stone? Nope, sadly not. 4lbs! Better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick, as the saying goes! I'm resetting the goal to the end of this month. I hope to lose another 3lbs at least by then!

Well done everyone!

Frustrating week for me. I thought I had done well, around 1400 calories per day, but my weight has stayed the same.

Then went over for the last couple of days eating with family.

Going to try increase the exercise next week and be less sloth like.

TC2023 · 03/11/2025 08:45

Morning all.

I didnt have a great weekend so need to get back on it today. Went to the gym this morning and hoping for a walk later too. 1400 calories is the aim as i just can't seem to get lower than that without starving myself.

Breakfast: Toast & yogurt
Lunch: Salmon fishcake and veg
Dinner: Bagel with medallions and cream cheese

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 03/11/2025 19:20

Today:

Breakfast: Smoothie - 100
Oat bar - 250

Lunch: Egg salad sandwich - 600

Dinner: Cheesy roast veg - 300
Yoghurt - 50
Mango - 100
Cereal bar - 100

Total: 1500. No exercise whatsoever. I've been sitting in the car all damn day long! I intend to make up for it tomorrow.

I haven't been for a walk in days (have you seen the weather?!) but I did have a 45 minute workout. I had a bath afterwards and it was depressing to see all the rolls of flab are still there! It would be nice if they would just shrink away mid workout! Still, I'll stick at it and hopefully they'll diminish over time.

Can I join? I’m new to this and wanted to ask how you know the calories of everything? I’ve visibly lost in the last couple of weeks but the scales say I haven’t!

Natürlich! The more the merrier!

I round up or down to the nearest 50, I reckon it all comes out in the wash! I call Yoghurts 50 when they're actually 55, I think it is, but then I call a banana 100 even if it's a mini 80 one. Life is too short to be too obsessed. I'm afraid I eat a lot of convenience foods (the guacamole, houmous, curry etc is all shop bought) so I don't have to worry about complicated maths based on raw ingredients! I know it's not healthy but I'm not cooking for a family, it's just me, so it's just more practical to buy ready made stuff.

Weighing yourself gets weird and inconsistent results sometimes! I managed to squeeze into my jeans for the first time in a long time recently, but according to the scales I hadn't lost anything that week!! I don't get it. Just 'trust the process' I suppose!

Morning all.

71.6kg this morning. Thats me down 0.9kg in a week so i am delighted!! Have been fairly consistent with my calories, between 1500 and 1600 everyday apart from Saturday. And I have been doing gym classes 3 times a week and walks most days, some longer than others.

@cupfinalchaos i use myfitnesspal where you can scan barcodes if you want or use generic ingrediants that are already on the database. I think some people use nutracheck too. The first few weeks of it can be very tedious but you get to know the calories of the foods you eat fairly quickly. Good luck 😁

Thanks so much for explaining. I eat more home cooked food but am trying to avoid counting calories as I think that would push me over into obsession. I too can now fit into jeans I couldn’t before but scales saying I’ve only lost 1lb!

One thing that works for me is not eating after 7pm.. I brush my teeth after dinner and that’s that.

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 05/11/2025 08:44

@TC2023 You're doing great!

@cupfinalchaos It sounds like you're making good progress without calorie counting!

Keep going everyone!!

Well I lost 4 of the 5lbs I planned to lose for my night out. Put 3lb back on (I know it’s all water/bloat) but lost it all again in 3 days. Weighed in at 10st 5.6 this morning. .5lb to go before I got my 1 stone target!

Did a weights workout and a run yesterday, spin later this morning.

Got my works Christmas party at the weekend, hope to lose 1lb by then.

Meal plan for today:

4 sugar free biscuits with coffee
granola and semi skimmed milk
sweet potato burgers and beans
chicken/lettuce wrap/hummus with baked crisps
low cal choc bar. = 1,300 calories. Target is 1,400 so I’ve a little bit of play if I’m hungry after work tonight.

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 09/11/2025 11:24

I'm embarrassed to admit I went to a pizza party last night and made an absolute pig of myself, including ice-cream after. Urgh. The scales are telling me I'm 4lbs heavier than Sunday last week.
