I'm on day 1 - having regained some of the weight I lost on CD last year. Am full of if only's and have been struggling for weeks trying just to eat healthily in order to avoid the drastic step of CD!! Would be great to get a support thread going

After the first couple of days I find it easier to stick to than restricting food, as you don't have to think about food at all (other than cooking for dh and dd ).

My main prob was constipation despite all the water, and I know I'll have to take fybogel every day from now on.

I have felt very fed up while on it tbh, but as my cdc says I've just got to accept it as a means to an end, and get on with it.

MissingMyHeels · 27/05/2008 20:18

I guess it's never going to be a nice diet to be on! 12lbs is fab loss. Do you HAVE toattend meetings? I have a 10wk old baby so 2hrs a week will be difficult for me.

oggsfrog · 27/05/2008 20:24

I think you're thinking of Lighter Life. I spend about 10 mins with my cdc - just enough time to get weighed and pick my sachets.

MissingMyHeels · 27/05/2008 20:48

Oooh that's much better. I think you're right, it is lighterlife where you have a two hour meeting.

hattiejacques · 27/05/2008 21:54

It's so much easier for me than restricted dieting because food is off limits and being in ketosis means you're not starving. In fact it can give you energy and a real sense of well being. It's early days for me still this time but last time I sialed through it and lost 3 stone in about 10 weeks and felt great pretty much throughout. The only way you'd know whether it's for you missingmyheels is to give it a try for at least a couple of weeks. I think you have to wait till 3 months post baby before you can do CD to allow your body time to recover fully.

Well I finally got started and got day 1 over with yesterday. I didn't feel too bad and woke up this morning feeling good and still motivated, I don't think I've had such a good nights sleep in a long time.

i initially want to loose 2.5 stone that gets me back to my wedding weight that i was last august, then after that between 2 or 3 stone. It will all depend on how clothes fit not what the scales say.

I'm off to have a warm choc shake, might convince myself its a nice cup of hot choc on such a miserable cold morning

caykon · 28/05/2008 08:59

how many weeks is it just the shakes b4 you can have the bars?

SpookyMadMummy · 28/05/2008 09:41

Caykon - Bars and water flavourings from week 3.

caykon · 28/05/2008 11:24

thanks for that, I still have some kicking round from last time, I didn't want to start munching too soon.

Last time though my cdc said I could have bars from week 1 she didn't think it made a differance. I want to do it by the book this time and slowly do all the stuff so i don't put it all back on again.

MissingMyHeels · 28/05/2008 13:41

You've inspired me... I start next Tuesday!

hattiejacques · 28/05/2008 19:33

My CDC said I could have the bars as long as I'm properly in ketosis so I'm having bars already (only day 6) and mix amousse. Have checked that I'm in ketosis and I still am.
Feeling loads better today - more energy and no headache. Hurrah! I freeze my tetra's then eat them like ice cream in the evening - yum!

Hi All

Can I join this support thread? I first did CD shortly after Hattie first started, I did really well up till Christmas, then had a break and then lost another 21 lbs between Jan and March (in which time my converted husband lost 4 stone!) but I stalled at Easter (these relgious holidays will be the end of me). Now i'm determined to get back in to the swing of things again and called my CDC last night. Going to see her on Monday and will let you know how i get on. At the moment I'm too scared to even get on the scales and find out how bad i have been!

hattiejacques · 30/05/2008 15:37

Hello matildasmummy! I remember you! You did so well too. Did you reach your target? Funnily enough things went awry for me at easter too hence my return to CD. Am back in the swing of things now though and determined to keep going. Good luck on Monday. Let us know how you get on.

Hi - restarting Monday for the 2nd time - lost about 1.5 stone last time but haven't done it for a year and put back on about 6lbs (which is not too bad really) the Bad news is that I really need to lose another 2.5 stone - the good news is that I am also on holiday in 5 weeks (and that will mark the start of the kids summer hols) so big incentive. My husband will join me - also a big plus other than the weight drops off him quick (but goes back on quicker too) we found last time that we were too weak willed to do this constantly and so did the diet 6 days a week - I know that this is not the way but it worked for us - will see what we can manage this time. I am going to watch this thread - I hope it keeps going over the next few weeks. Good Luck all!!!!

oggsfrog · 31/05/2008 14:28

Hello MM and SL .

After much deliberation I've decided to start allowing myself a small 'meal' in the evening. I'm worried about constipation again, and the veggies will help in this dept, and also I don't think I can stick with SS and will end up blowing it big stylee.

Last night I had half a tin of tuna and some steamed broccoli and it was heavenly . I'm hoping that doing it this way will mean I can stick to it, as it gives me something to look forward to each day.

hercules1 · 31/05/2008 14:41

oggsfrog - it wont work if you are eating as you will ruin the mild ketosis.

oggsfrog · 31/05/2008 14:50

Doesn't appear to be the case Hercules . Still in ketosis.
No carbs in tuna and broccoli is one of the lowest veggies.

I know from years of low carbing what to eat and what not to eat carbwise to stay in ketosis.

What I'm doing now is Sole Source Plus which is three shakes a day plus a 'green and white' meal of up to 200cals. I'll be on a total of about 600cals a day doing this and that is low enough to ensure good weight loss.

My cdc actually suggested it.

hercules1 · 31/05/2008 14:54

Ah sorry didnt read the whole thread. I sole sourced only.

oldcrock · 31/05/2008 14:58

I did CD for a week and lost 7lb. However, i felt so terrible after that week - faint and with no energy at all, so couldn't walk any distance - had to drive dd to school although it's only 5 mins walk!! So I gave up.
Is it possible that some people just can't do the diet?

oggsfrog · 31/05/2008 15:00

I've been sole sourcing for three weeks (minus the four days when I crammed my face with veggies to clear up constipation), and have lost over a stone.

BUT... I hate it, and don't have the most sensible digestive system. I'm hoping that allowing myself this small 'meal' of low carb veggies plus white fish/chicken, will give me the motivation to carry on.

How long did you Sole Source for? How much did you lose? Have you gained it back?

chocolatespiders · 31/05/2008 15:03

over a stone in 3 weeks> wow

how much do you wish to lose
