Following on from ☀️LOSE IT! May 2025☀️

⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️

Here comes summer!

It’s never too late to make a change, to make a difference and feel confident in your body.

To reach optimum health and vitality we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great! Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost just around 45lbs. After having been on the wrong side of 12st, the last time I weighed I was hovering around 9st 2lbs. I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! Come summer you’ll be pleased you did 😊

Beloved long timers it would be great for you to keep going❤️

Good Morning All

Thank you for the well wishes. Im actually aching more today than yesterday but I’m going to keep moving to loosen everything up.

@Medee It sounds fun! I love a bit of Jazz music but I’ve never danced jazz.

@Marshmellowbunny I think I’ll pester my other half to take a trip to Leeds. It’s good to hear you still feel safe; so many town centres are becoming no go zones 😢

@mermadeincornwall Thank you. A few stems snapped but not too bothered as the tub definitely broke my fall 👍

I ate a bit more than I should yesterday so I’m intending to have smaller portions today to compensate.

Menu
Meal 1 - Strawberries, Greek yoghurt & chia seeds (soaked)
Meal 2 - Chicken stir fry.
Drinks - Tea, black coffee and water 💧

I think I am due on my period this week (I should really track this) as I am absolutely ravenous!! Yesterday when I got back from soft play I was so hungry!! My kids had pick and mix and a few fell into my mouth 🤣 oops!!

Just completed a 30 min walking workout.
I'm off work today and taking the youngest to the park so will get some extra steps in there too.

Smoothie for breakfast
Planning a leek dish for lunch
And fishcakes for dinner using crab meat

Hope everyone has a good Monday!

2in2022twoyearson · 09/06/2025 12:06

I'm looking forward to wow, because I was down on the scales today but I'm not going to jinx it and will post a 3 day average on Wednesday. Before that I was going up/ staying the same. I had homemade chicken soup for breakfast. I have been having a high protein breakfast recently and I read it reduces cravings, and yes it did reduce morning cravings but, yesterday I felt sick and headachy before eating lunch, then eating carbs and sugar helped. Today I had a sugary breakfast bar bid morning, helped me focus at work..

I have continued my 13 hours overnight fast.

My sleep was better last night but I didn't excersice yesterday so will try and fit in some excersice this evening.

And I had one snack yesterday, one today. So tomorrow I'll work on no snacks before I cut out sugar.... unless I do veggie snacking...

2in2022twoyearson · 09/06/2025 12:08

Also, I'm really interested in dieting specific to the time in my life when I'm mentrating, because yes, cravings are big, and they come from a biological need. Iron requirements are high and maybe set days we should be more strict or let things go a bit. If anyone knows any good articles, let me know. Maybe i should take a supplement...

socks1107 · 09/06/2025 12:17

I’ve just been told a secondment I’m on is ending in three weeks! Absolutely gutted but worries for my weight loss as now I’m heading back to an admin role so sat all day whereas now I do 18k steps a day! Will reduce calories and increase home work outs but I am concerned it’ll undo my hard work

Can’t speak to the science but I don’t calorie count when on my period and try to have lots of protein - steaks even. Hasn’t held back my weight loss overall, I gain a bit during TOTM then drop a whole lot after.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 09/06/2025 15:18

@socks1107 that is so frustrating, sorry to hear.

2in2022twoyearson · 09/06/2025 16:44

Sorry, what is totm?

Time of the Month

TheRealHousewife · 09/06/2025 18:15

I’m almost too embarrassed to post this … I was cleaning a light fixture up high so I was standing on the counter. One second I was trying to come back down via a tall stool (thinking to myself, take your time you don’t want an accident) and the next second I was flat out on the stone floor with the stools on top of me. How I didn’t break a wrist or a hip I don’t know. Other half heard the commotion from upstairs after checking nothing was broken he said I’m like a Rubber Doll 😂.

Sorry to hear that @socks1107 x

I hope that another opportunity comes up for you soon @socks1107 .

Glad that you escaped serious injury, @TheRealHousewife .

Weight is oscillating between 14st 11 and 14st 9 depending on food/water weight, etc. I might have to reduce calories even more, but don't if I could stand that. At the moment, I consume between 1000 and 1,400. The various calculators tell me that I should be able to lose fat on that.

Couldn't get to the gym Sat/Sunday. Just back from the gym today. Had other things to do in the morning and early afternoon.

Risked having a plate of soup before training. Stowed everything in a locker and headed for the automated gym door. (No pockets in my gym leggings, so the drill is: stretch out hand and wave card over sensor; shove card in locker; turn key; grab key and wrist band; sprint for gym door and wave hand between doors before they close.)

This time, had one of the trainers gleefully yelling "Run!" as I just made it to the door. (I just pretend I'm on Mission Impossible. It livens things up.)

10 mins HIIT walking on treadmill. Highest was 6.5kph.

3X10 20kg each for lats, triceps and biceps. (On lat pull machine.) Angel wings - set of 10 - between each set.

2 minutes cool down on SPARC - no incline, but set at 5. (It goes up to 10.)

Had a chat with the trainer I mentioned above, and I'm booked into his "Senior Flex" class for Wednesday. Shall see how it goes. I've warned him I'm trying to get a doctor's appointment, so shall phone in and cancel if there's a clash.

I am now officially removed from the General Teaching Council's register. Had to bite my tongue in the gym - there was a group of teenage boys faffing around with a yoga ball (while two of their pals were working seriously).

I managed to bite my tongue, but gave them The Look. To my great astonishment, it worked. Must have been using what my late husband referred to as my Medusa Look!

ReallyNeedToLoseWeightNow · 09/06/2025 20:04

I’m having a really weird day today. I haven’t felt hungry all day… I drank a slimfast with a bit of extra milk at about 5pm as I was conscious that I hadn’t had anything but it took me ages to drink it. Tea is a fish stew and it’s only 473 calories per serving so I’m going to try and have a tin of sweetcorn with it which will take it up to 689 calories but that will make the entire day 986 calories which is obviously too low… I might try and have a snack or a yogurt or something if I feel like I can 🤔
I really hope I’m not getting sick 😬

biscuitcat · 09/06/2025 20:24

I’ve had carrot soup with a piece of marmite toast and spinach and garlic gnocchi today, with a healthier Eton mess (Greek yoghurt instead of cream), plus raspberries and a little fairy cake for snacks - it’s been lovely and I’ve noticed that after only a week I’m feeling good for eating more fruit and veg, Nutracheck says I’ve had 7 portions today. I’m so impressed by everyone’s exercise, I need to get on that when I can.

WearyAuldWumman · 09/06/2025 20:25

Maybe you just don't feel like eating much @ReallyNeedToLoseWeightNow ?
I sometimes get days like that.

Have just remembered that I thought I'd finished my workout but then did my oblique side twists and side dips - no idea what they should be called - using a 4kg weight. I'm trying to contract my stomach muscles, but no idea whether I'm doing it properly. I reckon I'm feeling it more on my lower back, for whatever reason.

Marshmellowbunny · 09/06/2025 20:28

Eurgh.

So the scales say I'm down a tiny bit which is gooood.

But this eating less business is wreaking havoc with my mood.

Does anyone else just feel super down when dieting???

WearyAuldWumman · 09/06/2025 20:41

@Marshmellowbunny Yup. I like my food, unfortunately.

When I'm working out, I feel fine...must be the endorphins that they talk about...but I can't do that all day.

FrothyCothy · 09/06/2025 22:17

Bloody hell @TheRealHousewife - something tells me you should steer clear of climbing on anything for a while! Hope you’re not too bruised.

Had all good intentions today but work put an absolute enormous spanner in the works. Unplanned week in the office to come - pro: will get my steps in on the commute. Con: have nothing prepared for lunches so the danger zone of a meal deal will be hanging over me! Will try to get up early enough to prep something tomorrow to take with me.

QueenMabby · 09/06/2025 22:25

Pretty good day today. Closed the kitchen on just under 1200 calories:

B: Porridge with peanut butter and cherries
S: latte
L: Salad with chicken, cannellini beans and sun- dried tomatoes
S: An apricot
D: Hot honey chicken drumsticks (2) with jersey royals and green beans.

Also did a 30 mins legs workout at the gym.

mermadeincornwall · 10/06/2025 08:01

Did everything as planned yesterday, found my stamina was low,as expected, but flexibility surprisingly good.
Will repeat yesterday today,

Please no more mountain goat impersonations @TheRealHousewife, Hope you're ok, again 😘

Everyone just keeps telling me it's trauma from what happened but it's definitely linked with the eating.

I can't stop crying 🙈 it's making me feel very foolish.

&I feel you about the exercise. That's why I've started the couch to 5K. I need to be able to do something or it'll just keep getting worse.

You have nothing to feel foolish about. Sometimes crying helps.

Marshmellowbunny · 10/06/2025 14:32

Yeah I suppose so.

I read a quote somewhere that said 'water washes away most things'

So now I just let myself cry😂i still feel bad about it though 🤣

ReallyNeedToLoseWeightNow · 10/06/2025 14:54

I weighed myself again this morning (a bit soon but I wanted to see if there had been any progress since Sunday) and I’ve lost another 2-3 pounds!! I stepped on and off the scale a few times and it kept changing between a loss of 2-3 pounds so I have put 2 pounds into myfitnesspal as I don’t want to over estimate, get it wrong and be disappointed next time. But that means that altogether I have lost 5 pounds in about 10 days!! 😁

2in2022twoyearson · 10/06/2025 19:19

Weighed in slightly lighter past couple of days but was stressed ate junk all day, cakes, bacon buns, sweets, then after dinner stopped... Felt crap for it as well, I'll get back to healthy eating tomorrow.

WearyAuldWumman · 10/06/2025 19:43

Within my calories, but reckon I'll have to reduce further. Boooo!

10 mins HIIT walking on the treadmill. Ave heart rate seems to be going down slightly.

Low row: 30kg, 3X10 with a set of 10 angel wings in between.

Leg extensions: 10kg 3X10

Leg curls: 10 kg 2 X 10. Wasn't fit for any more.

Based on trying on clothes, waist and stomach seems to have gone down a bit - can get into an old skirt. Based on bra fit, seem to have gone down a cup size, from DD to D. However, clothes are tighter on arms and underarm.

Maybe the tighter fit on the arms is because of increased muscle size? I only see the muscles when I'm actually working out - doing a low row or side raises in front of a reflective surface. not sure that that would explain the tighter underarms. Weight hasn't gone up.
