Hi Twiglett - did you just take the biscuits to bed or did you actually eat them?? If it was the former I applaude your will-power! (If it was the latter - then you are only human).

Demented - hi. Not spoken to you for ages - how is it going? And how did you manage to put weight on???

Well, I have been very good today so far. I think my binging is over for a while and I have not put any weight on thank goodness (went to Pizza Hut yesterday for lunch but I did not have too much...). We all went sledging yesterday, so I think the traipsing up and down hills maybe burnt off the pizza!! Am off to salsa tonight - can't wait! But am still a little stiff from aerobics on Monday.

Hi Looneymum!

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 19/01/2005 13:22

Salsa's fantastic isn't it? I go on Mondays. I've worked out that a couple of hours salsa gives 16 bonus points, especially if you dance the whole time. What a way to burn up calories. I'm hoping that it helps with my weight loss (as well as ww)

miam · 19/01/2005 13:25

Ooh Mars - tonight is my first night! What do I wear? Is it hard? Will Ricky Martin be there???

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 19/01/2005 13:34

Trousers, small heel and a nice top. Nothing too thick though as it can get quite hot when dancing. Make sure you stick with the lessons and really enjoy yourself. It's easier than it looks, especially when you've got the first few steps down pat. Once you are dancing it is a wonderful workout. Let me know how you get on.

Ricky may not be there, but there may be some Rickywannabees.

If you do it regularly, you can count it in your excercise plan.

Looneymum · 19/01/2005 13:35

Hi Miam - sledging and salsa - impressive! I am making do with running up and down the stairs a zillion times as DD2 is at that 5 month rolly onto the tummy stage and getting stuck. Off I go again.... !

miam · 19/01/2005 13:36

I am really looking forward to it - I'll definately let you know how I get on. Thanks.

miam · 19/01/2005 13:38

Looneymum - not impressive really as it is only my first week lol! Now, if I am still doing them both by next month that will be impressive!! You will be much fitter than me after running after a 5mth old! My youngest is nearly 4 now boo hoo.

Demented · 19/01/2005 13:58

Don't know how I put on the 2lbs (or even if I indeed did put on 2lbs)! I was following the plan to the letter and although I had two days where I went over my Syns (one day by 4, the other day by 14 [blush[) I was saving about half my Syns most days. I stepped on the scales at home on Mon morning and by the looks of the scales was going to lose then by the time I was going to the class I stepped on the scales again (I know, I know, naughty!) and I had gained 5lbs! All I had eaten inbetween the two trips on the scales was toast with cheese (both healthy extras, properly weighed, so OK) and beans, two coffees, 12 cashew nuts and a litre of water. I think the coffee/water was still there at the weigh-in. Tried to explain this to the consultant who gave me a big lecture in front of the other members about only getting on the scales at the SW meeting (pah!).

This week sticking to the plan to the letter again (although going out on Fri night so saving Syns like a mad woman), going to watch what I eat and drink prior to the weigh-in, purchase the book I have ordered (if they have it in, they didn't last week) and never grace the door of SW again, although will continue with the plan at home.

miam, I'm wondering if I might bump into you on Saturday? Taking the DSs to a party/dance thing organised by a mutual friend.

miam · 19/01/2005 16:16

Demented - I bet you lose loads by next week. Are you actually going to stop going to the class then? I'm sure you will do fine because you have done fabulously up to now - an inspiration!

Good grief - didn't realise the party was Saturday!! Yes - we will be there! (Am off to buy a pair of earplugs in readiness...)

marj · 19/01/2005 16:45

I am impressed Evesmama! You have more will power than me. I just avoid the choc counter altogether. Dont worry demented. You will lose it again next week. 1 litre of water weighs 2lbs plus the 2 coffees probably another 1lb so that is where the gain is from I would think. I never eat or drink anything for at least an hour before I weigh in.

Loobz · 19/01/2005 19:35

Am in a state of shock! Actually got an apology from one of the two RSholes who made comments about my weight and boy did I make him squirm - enjoyed it too - hee hee

WigWamBam · 19/01/2005 19:42

Good for you, Loobz - well done!

bottle · 19/01/2005 20:04

hi all,
well done loobz re rsis
i have had an ok day feel a bit vulnerable re a sugar attack, ds had a muffin tonight and had a bite but what he left has gone in the bin, that said you are what you eat has just come on tv this should hopefully motivate me ,
no weight loss to report, will do on friday

bottle · 19/01/2005 21:10

have i killed the thread?

miam · 19/01/2005 21:15

Hi bottle - nope, killing the thread is my job! 10/10 for not scoffing the rest of the muffin!! I'll be weighing in Friday too - have not been very good this week though, but I know I have not put anything on. I started Salsa tonight - great fun!! Everyone should try it!

Well done Loobz - they'll think twice about what they say now, and so they should!

mammya · 19/01/2005 21:35

I had my first ww meeting and weigh in today, and it wasn't as bad as I feared! Not so good either, don't seem to have lost anything since last week, but I weighed myself on my own scales last week and don't know how they compare. I have been very good today though! [angelic emoticon]

Demented · 19/01/2005 23:50

Thanks marj, I don't know what went wrong I suddenly gained camel like qualities and despite drinking all this well before the class (over an hour) couldn't wee more than a teacup full I know TMI!

Miam look forward to seeing you on Saturday (you skinny thing you ). Glad you will be there, am assuming Artyalex probably too, am panicing a bit as DH won't be able to make it (new shower leaking, grrrr) and I will be taking DSs on my own and feeling a bit nervous about it (daft I know!).

I don't have any issues about going it alone without SW as long as their plan works that is! Don't know what I was execting but the group puts me off more than anything. I come out every week feeling really cynical (in fact Monday night I was sooo hacked off I came home and had a takeaway )!

All the best to everyone else with their weigh-ins this week!!!

Demented · 19/01/2005 23:51

Even the first week when I lost 5 1/2 lbs I came out feeling flat as a pancake.

miam · 20/01/2005 10:56

Yeah, classes are not for everyone are they? I always found they made me cheat... I would have my first weigh in, then go home and pig out because I had a whole week to lose anything I put on. Then as the next weigh in loomed (and I was still binging) I would start to panic and say 'Oh what is the point.. I can't do this..' etc etc, go to the class finding that I had not lost (or put on) and feel so demotivated that I would start pigging out as I had a whole week to lose it..... No, classes are not for me.

Artyalex will be there on Saturday. You are privileged are you not, being invited to a prestigious Stirling affair??? Don't know if we should allow Dunfermline commoners in....

frequentmnetter · 20/01/2005 14:02

thanks marj
hi everyone...4th day with NO CHOCCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Twiglett · 20/01/2005 14:05

Well I've stopped going to SW classes (I was only paying to get weighed) .. I weighed myself on my scales this am and based on last week's weigh-in on my scales have dropped a pound

But based on SW's scales last week have actually lost 5lbs which feels much much better

Demented the SW diet does work and I find it quite good and easy to stick to

helsi · 20/01/2005 14:21

Hi all,

I have my pedometer on today - trying to aim for the 10,000 steps that are recommended each day for healthy living. So far have done - 2841 but have been sat at work. Will do more tonight.
Am on SW 100% this week hoping to lose 3 pounds!

helsi · 20/01/2005 14:29

Going to try the spicy parnsnip soup for a starter tonight as is in SW magazine. Looks nice - see if mine ends up as nice. Think I might do "pasta compost heap" for after that yummy!!!

Demented · 20/01/2005 16:09

LOL Twiglett, go for the 5lb! I know I'm daft still doubting the diet, I want it to work because it is fantastic and I can see myself eating this way for the rest of my life, doesn't seem like a diet at all which is great!

Miam, I know they don't normally let the Fifers into the Royal Burgh of Stirling but they are giving us neds a day-pass through the golden gates as a special concession seen as I was born there (we are allowed in about twice a year ). Looking forward to seeing you all. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who can't be doing with the slimming classes, I thought I was a bit odd!

bottle · 20/01/2005 16:28

i have not been to a slimming class for years, they did not suit me, only wanted to go if had lost weight and inevitably had a bad week think the longest i lasted was four weeks

anyway ticking along here on the diet, i do get v cross sometimes that i cannot eat all the things i like as much as i want to - i have changed the way i eat over the last threee years but i do miss my boxes of mr kippling, chocolate, biscuits, mince pies, bread, pies, chips, pizza and that is just not to put any weight on
