Any serial diet failers want to give it another go?

After all, it is Monday and Mondays are a good diet starting day!

I've pretty much hit rock bottom and am really down that I can't seem to sort myself out.

There have been many failed attempts where I lose a few pounds then feel pleased with myself so I scoff loads of chocolate to celebrate my loss. Rinse and repeat.

I am now 12st 7, I weighed myself first thing.

Anyone want to give it another go?

1.8lbs off for me this week; and comfortably in the next stone bracket now (finally!) had a sneaky mid week weigh in which showed me as STS. Was feeling quite demotivated but luckily it’s all sorted itself in time for today and the scales were my friend. Weighed in at 13 stones and 13lbs and 19lbs down in total since the end of Jan.

It's so good seeing a different stone number, pleased for you ❣️

Amazing result.

I have the same mindset as you I am not weighing today as I had got under 15 stone and feel if it tips back over into the 15 it will be all over and the 3 stone plus I have lost will be back in a flash.

It's terrible the way I think but I will just keep plodding on. I discovered I enjoy stirfry this week. The nice bags from m and S with a small amount of sauce and I add some Quorn or vegetable sausages. Going to carry on with these over the weekend when I normally take my foot off the pedal a bit.

Oh they are yummy the n&s stir fry. That's a good idea.

I think once I get to the line with 10st I'll be less likely to want to check in case I go back into the 11s.

myplace · 05/04/2025 16:17

Knowing how your mind works, what motivates and demotivates, is really good. Well done for working it out!

I’m still resisting weighing until Monday. It’s gonna be a surprise due to kitchen refurb- a meal out and gosh and chips but to counteract that skipped a couple of meals!

It’s anyone’s guess.

NorthernGirl1981 · 05/04/2025 17:22

I feel really guilty today.

I went to the fish and chip shop last night and had a small portion of chips with a scallop. I only hate half the portion of chips but I regretted it so much afterwards ☹️

Hi, late joiner here! Hope everyone’s enjoying the spring weather this weekend ☀️

I’m 5ft 2, late 30s and got to almost 13 stone in the pandemic. I’m managed to get my weight down very gradually and this year been hovering around the 10st 7 mark give or take a few pounds. Finding it hard to get below 10 stone.

I’d really like to lose 14-20 pounds by August and get back to the weight range I was most of my adult life which was 9-9.5 stone. So I’m aiming to lose 10 pounds by end of June. The warmer weather is giving me a boost to go for walks and just move more around inside my flat which gets very bright when the sun is shining outside.

I’m doing 8K steps daily but I don’t factor in those extra calories I’ve supposedly burned. I’m doing it mainly for health reasons and it helps me sleep better which in turns helps with managing cravings and my appetite.

This month I’m avoiding chocolate, cakes, sweets and ice cream. Next month I also want to swap out white rice, pasta and bread for brown. I eat between 12noon and 8pm and aim for 2 meals a day with one snack and plenty of water, tea, and coffee (no sugar, splash of oat milk)

Welcome to the group! And good luck with your new regime!
I’ve lost another 2lbs this week and am beginning to actually feel and look slimmer (I’ve lost 11lbs in total). Intermittent fasting, laying off the booze (although I still have a few drinks at the weekend) and regular exercise seem to be doing the trick.
To see the scales saying 11 stone 12lbs this morning was so nice! I haven’t been under 12 stone for about 2 years!

Weldone to you. I've had horrible 3 days but am back on it today no more mess ups for me.

Thank you and well done on losing another 2 pounds and getting into the 11s. It’s such a good feeling to enter a new (lower) weight range!

I’m really trying to show up for myself each day this month and develop some healthy habits which stick long term!

myplace · 08/04/2025 14:05

I haven’t lost this week, what with kitchen drama and other excitement.

However, I didn’t obsess it weigh daily and I think I have a healthier attitude.

I’ve decided to food log again, though not very effectively so far. It takes a while to get into the swing of it!

Hartleyhare1206 · 12/04/2025 08:25

Morning All

Just weighed in and am down 2.2lbs which is a total loss now of 21.2lbs - so I’ve cracked the 1 & 1/2 stone total loss since the end of January. I’m really pleased with this, but realistically need to do the same again still.
Am feeling pretty motivated to continue though, and of course the Invisalign are helping enormously as can’t snack!
Family wedding in 18 weeks so I’m hoping o can put a serious dent in my weight in that time, and rock up feeling much slimmer (and with better teeth😂) if I keep going the way I am.
How’s everyone else getting on this week? Positively I hope?
Have a fab weekend 😍😍

NorthernGirl1981 · 12/04/2025 09:50

Morning all,

My weigh in today shoes I have reached the milestone of losing a stone! Woohoo!

I’ve got another 7lbs to go and then I’ve reached my target weight.

ForAzureSeal · 14/04/2025 01:10

I'm still losing steadily but have lost my motivation. I'm just bored with it. I think this is my problem. I get to a certain point and the novelty wears off. 7 weeks in and I've lost 5 kilos which is great but I have another 15 to go to reach my goal weight (which is just to get to a BMI of 25). I'm now making all sorts of excuses why I don't really need to lose all that weight. feel a bit low.

Loseitrr · 14/04/2025 09:05

Some great losses on here! Congratulations everyone.

Now hovering around 10st 6, so I’ve just lost a pound since last week despite getting my steps in every day and keeping my calories below 1500.

Wish I could be losing weight more rapidly and less of losing/gaining the same few pounds and I do wonder why it’s so slow going for me, but then if I’m honest I don’t give up stuff like cakes or chocolate, white bread etc so there’s that!

I seem to have plateaud but I’m going to keep on keeping on because the changes I’ve made aren’t meant to be temporary. They will benefit my health and finances (used to spend a lot on takeaways) if nothing else and hopefully eventually - even if it’s way later this year - I’ll get to my goal weight.

The only things I’m going to change this week is reducing the amount of olive oil I use in cooking and not eating anything after 8pm.

I sympathise with this!!

I have found that over the last fee
weeks I have started to get a bit slack with regards to not eating biscuits or sweets etc. I have found myself snacking a lot more.

It’s almost like because I’ve lost a stone I’m telling myself I can ease off a little now with the stricter diet and watching my calories etc, but I think I’ve become careless ti be honest.

I’m going to weigh myself tomorrow and I can’t foresee a noticeable loss to be honest but hopefully that will spur me on to get back on track.

Loseitrr · 19/04/2025 17:56

I have managed to resist Easter eggs but that’s mainly because I had two earlier on in the month lol

I’ve got down to to 10stone 5 past few days but I’m wondering if these small fluctuations are just linked to my cycle as I was 10st 5 at some point in March too. Then went up to nearly 11stone around my period a few weeks ago and been creeping back down since.

If these changes are just to do with my cycle that means nothing I’ve done has actually helped me lose weight 😣

I feel not enough is understood about weight loss in women.

My period is due at end of month so I’m fully expecting to go back up to 10st 10 + thanks to period bloat 🙄

I think I’ll need to get down to below 10stone before I am sure I’m actually losing fat, since I’ve been going from 10stone 4-10stone 12 every month since November.

NorthernGirl1981 · 20/04/2025 12:53

I’ve given up on the diet for the last week….there are just too many Easter type treats lying around!!! I feel really disappointed in myself for slipping back into my old bad habits of constantly snacking!

It’s weigh-day tomorrow and I don’t think my result is going to make me smile 😬

There is definitely a hormonal element to weight loss for women. I see the same fluctuations. However I think I was also over-emphasising the impact and imagined I just couldn't lose weight any longer (peri meno).

Last 8 weeks I have been religiously calorie counting (myfitness pal)and (mostly) maintaining a 500cal deficit and turns out I can - over time - still lose weight. Not as big drops as before and fluctuates up and down (so some weeks no change and then a small change etc) also exercise doesn't seem to make as big a difference but it is a slow and steady drop. I think I just massively underestimated how much I was eating before!

Do you need to lose more? If so, then maybe you need to recalculate the TDEE to stay ina deficit?

ForAzureSeal · 21/04/2025 12:04

I've not checked in for a while as lost my motivation for a bit but been managing to stay on track:

Starting weight 90.7kg
Week 1 88.7
Week 2 87.8
Week 3 87.3
Week 4 87
Week 5 86.7kg
Week 8 84.3kg

Starting waist measurement: 94cm
Week 1 93
Week 2 91
Week 3 91
Week 4 90
Week 5 92cm
Week 8 88cm

I listened to a great podcast with 2 doctors on BBC sounds about "willpower". It talked a lot about how a lot of it is about planning and how you talk to yourself. There was a bonus episode that also talked about "relapse". I found it really helpful. It was called something like what's up doc.

Chuchi94 · 25/04/2025 20:39

Is it too late to join this?! I'd love to join - Im also the heaviest have ever been at 11.10lbs after my 2nd baby. Would love to get down to my happiest weight of 9.7 or under by August (losing 1-2lbs a week). Equally even happy to just lose a good ole stone to get back into clothes!! Currently trying on my own using Calorie Counter app but I keep obsessing weighing myself everyday then feeling down that not seeing results! 😊

NerrSnerr · 26/04/2025 10:05

I’m still here. Weight not really morning but still exercising well. I am now making myself accountable and starting eating well today. I go to Florida in August and really, really don’t want my thighs rubbing together in the heat!!

I’m going to count today as a weight start day and I’m at 12st9.

Greenfingers37 · 26/04/2025 10:18

I’m still here too. Haven’t had a great week with it being Easter and having been away for a week. I’ve only put one pound on though so I’m seeing that as a good result considering what I’ve eaten and drank.
Back to work next week and back to intermittent fasting, regular exercise and accountability.
I’m having to adjust my pre cruise target goal too though 😔. It was 11 stone, I’ll be happy now with 11 stone 4.

I definitely think I can lose more irrespective of my age or whatever stage my body goes through in the future!

I’m guess I’m just trying to be mindful of the fluctuations within the month so I can track the actual real weight loss. I’ve lost another pound since my last post!

I agree exercise doesn’t make such a big difference - for me anyway! I had a random sprain/unexplained injury last spring that I’m still dealing with so I don’t do much exercise apart from walking and Pilates which is way less than I did previously. I’ve found focusing on diet has been much more beneficial.

I’m eating about 1100 calories a day, which is a 300 calorie deficit. I don’t want to do much less or it won’t be sustainable for me . But I’ve been working on improving the quality of those calories though eg. Yoghurt and berries > a cake/pastry of similar calories. I think that helps too with weight loss and it’s obviously better for my health!

And well done on your steady weight loss @ForAzureSeal

Hartleyhare1206 · 26/04/2025 19:38

Hey Everyone

Hope you all had a lovely Easter?

Think I forgot to post last week but lost 0.4lbs last week and 1lbs this week, so now 22.6lbs down all together.
Have been a bit off track with all the Easter goodies and DD at home for the school hols….hoping to get back in to the swing of it again on Monday when the schools are back and things go back to normal. Am going to have some Easter egg choc over the weekend then bag them up and put them out of sight with the hope that I will magically forget they exist (during the week, anyway. Nice to dip in to for a weekend treat though)

Hope you’re all well doing ok, and welcome to @Chuchi94 hope you’re off to a good start! X

NorthernGirl1981 · 26/04/2025 19:51

I weighed myself today….

1lb gain in 10 days!!

I have massively indulged over Easter though 😬 The Diet Rules got thrown away!

I will be back on it come Monday though!

Hartleyhare1206 · 26/04/2025 20:23

@NorthernGirl1981 its nice to enjoy some treats occasionally. Bet that lb is as much water retention as anything. We can get back on it on Monday, together!
