Any serial diet failers want to give it another go?

After all, it is Monday and Mondays are a good diet starting day!

I've pretty much hit rock bottom and am really down that I can't seem to sort myself out.

There have been many failed attempts where I lose a few pounds then feel pleased with myself so I scoff loads of chocolate to celebrate my loss. Rinse and repeat.

I am now 12st 7, I weighed myself first thing.

Anyone want to give it another go?

So many new joiners!! Welcome all!!

@Hartleyhare1206 - my dad has currently got Invisalign braces and his extra weight is dropping off him. He’s loving it! The fact he can’t snack or go on hours long beer trips with his friends is having a great impact on his weight!

@myplace I also find logging the calories on an App really helpful and motivating! I love it that there’s a graph of my weights too and when I see the downward trend it keeps me going!

I wish I could run….but I can’t. Within minutes my chest is absolutely burning, and I just can’t do it. I’m hoping that as I continue with my home works outs my fitness will improve and an ability to run will develop. My friend went for a 45 minute run yesterday and the idea of that absolutely blew my mind!! Huge applause to anyone who does out for runs, I’m very jealous but also in admiration 👍

I weighed myself this morning:
Starting weight : 71.4 kg
Today’s weight : 68.7 kg

So that’s 6lb loss in 3 weeks which I’m really happy with.

I’ve now got my two days of heathy eating for all three meals, before I reach my day where I’m allowed a ‘normal’ evening meal. And I have to say that meals that used to be quite non-exciting prior to dieting now taste like absolute heaven when I have them!!! 🤣 I had a small portion of spaghetti bolognese the other night and it felt amazing! My taste buds and stomach were very grateful for such a treat 🤣

I spend my two days of healthy eating fantasising about what I’m going to eat on my ‘naughty’ day…… but at least it keeps me going!

Down 2lb this week, which is so much better than I expected after being poorly and on my period last week.

I'm definitely not doing enough exercise, need to try to increase that this week. Will just be walking, I don't really do anything else!

myplace · 10/03/2025 16:19

Interestingly, I think my Fitbit shows increased calorie consumption for the hour after I walk as well. That’s very motivating!

But until Friday when I weigh in I have no idea if I’m fooling myself, with the assistance of the Fitbit.

If I’ve done it right, I should lose a pound.

Hartleyhare1206 · 10/03/2025 16:23

Thanks @NorthernGirl1981 and interesting about your dad’s Invisalign experience too!

I spent the first week using my two aligner free hours to shovel in as much food as I could - including lots of chocolate, and then I realised it wasn’t doing me any good so I needed to change my ways so that I wasn’t hungry again two hours later. Trying to fill up on protein and seriously reduce sugar. I’m almost a stone down now but weirdly my skin is horrific, which is galling considering I’ve reduced my sugar intake and drinking gallons of water!

Well done to everyone for their losses to far, you’re very inspirational xx

Incakewetrust · 11/03/2025 08:24

I've been MIA on here but have been doing well. I'm walking 10k-20k every day and am making better choices with food. I'm still having a treat if I want it but making sure it's the minority and not the majority.
10lbs down so far 😊

ForAzureSeal · 11/03/2025 08:40

Missed check-in yesterday! Down again but less this week. To be expected:
Starting weight 90.7kg
Week 1 88.7
Week 2 87.8
Waist measurements:
Starting 94cm
Week 1 93cm
Week 2 91cm

wizzler · 11/03/2025 09:23

Feeling virtuous today as ate healthily yesterday and despite the salt and vinegar crisps calling to me from the kitchen I stayed strong and had an apple.
Starting to feel better for it too

Croc258 · 13/03/2025 07:51

Morning everyone! I need to catch up on the thread as I’ve been MIA since last weekend due to being away for the weekend. I gained 3lbs and Happy Scale is so disgusted with me it won’t even show a predicted loss. Thankfully most of that 3lb has disappeared now and I’m almost back to what I was before the big weekend of eating crap!

Will read through when I get a chance.

NorthernGirl1981 · 13/03/2025 08:19

I had a weak moment last night and I had a really unhealthy pizza followed by a bag of skittles.

I’d had a really rough 24 hours, including lots of tears, and I just needed a pick-me-up. It felt amazing when I was eating it, but now I’m feeling so guilty.

I haven’t been sticking to my work-outs as much this week either just because of generally feeling down. I’m dreading weigh-day on Monday 😔

wizzler · 13/03/2025 09:39

@NorthernGirl1981 it was one bad day food wise and you’ve more than 3 days to get back on track. Everyone has a wobble now and then so don’t beat yourself up about it .

Bookaholic73 · 13/03/2025 11:17

4lbs down in 2 weeks! I am really in the groove now.

tealandteal · 13/03/2025 15:31

I felt really disheartened at the start of the week as my weight loss was 0.5kg (even though that was what I was aiming for) but now I feel like I feel better even if I can’t see it from the outside or in the scales yet. Sticking to the exercise and starting to see some improvement in terms of what I can do with mount needing to lie down!

That’s amazing! You must be building your stamina really quickly! Water retention or time of the month could be the reason for the scales not changing.

I’m up 2lbs this week (down 8lbs in total) but am noticing I can walk further and am not breathless walking uphill anymore (which is good as where I live, I’m surrounded by bloody hills 😂)

myplace · 13/03/2025 22:22

Tomorrow is my first day of reckoning. Weighday.

I’ve stayed on plan so should have lost .5kg.

We will see. I have actually found it very manageable. I haven’t eaten out, but I’ve avoided good biscuits on several occasions, and eaten fairly healthily at home while still having some treats. I certainly haven’t been deprived. So much so that I suspect I won’t have lost weight. But we will see!

Well done everyone whose exercise and eating are going well. Some amazing losses!

NerrSnerr · 14/03/2025 09:20

Hope everyone is still doing ok. I am doing really well with exercise this week, have started running again and am doing an Apple Fitness 8 week challenge. Did an Apple Workout this morning and am about to do a Yoga class. I'm hoping by next week to get up to a 5k and then I can start thinking about doing Parkrun again as I used to love it pre children.

My eating has been terrible but could do better.

tealandteal · 14/03/2025 11:21

Thanks @Incakewetrust i actually think it’s more mental than physical, I am motivated not to give up as soon as it’s a little tiring! Well done to everyone and hope you have a lovely healthy weekend.

myplace · 15/03/2025 07:36

Well done, @NerrSnerr! It’s good to have something you enjoy to aim for, like the park run. I wouldn’t say I do, I’ve never particularly enjoyed any specific exercise. I do enjoy dancing and being out and about, so just a general increase in fitness is all I want. I did Ikea yesterday and remembered what a marathon that place is! Mentally and physically challenging 🤣

I weighed in yesterday and forgot to report in. I lost 600g, so 1.5lbs. Pretty much what I aimed for. So I’ll keep plodding along with my Fitbit!

I was a bit sad to see in an old record, how much weight I’ve put back on above my lowest, which was 85kg. I’m aiming for 95kg at the moment, and will think about going for 90 eventually. 85 was a bit low, my collar bone looked a bit scraggy. But I should have stayed there and worked on upper body muscle gain instead! Heyho. It’s not as though it was in my control or I’d still have been 85kg! My issue at the moment is managing disordered eating and losing weight. That’s more important than being any specific number.

Anyway, onwards and downwards. Have a good weekend everyone.

Bookaholic73 · 15/03/2025 08:05

Good morning. It’s weigh day today and I’ve lost another pound. Slow and steady is the way to go I think.

Hartleyhare1206 · 15/03/2025 08:30

Morning everyone!

Weigh in for me today and down 2.6lbs, which takes total loss so far to 15.2lbs.

Very happy to have passed the 1 stone lost mark! Still a long way to go of course but it still feels satisfying.

Much of it is thanks to Invisalign stopping me grazing and snacking, and also the first few days of each new tray are pretty uncomfortable and give me sore teeth that don’t feel comfortable biting and chewing! So have been eating lots of soft food like Greek yoghurt with berries and eggs, which luckily are filling and satisfying. Need to use the time with braces wisely to set good habits so I don’t revert back to stuffing my face once I’ve completed my treatment!

Hope you all have a fab weekend everyone. It’s currently sunny where I am, so hoping for some time in the garden doing jobs which should be good exercise x

Sunshineandrainbow · 15/03/2025 08:48

@DirtyDensDog I can relate so much.
I have lost 3 stone over the last year.
Now everyone is noticing which I hate the attention and don't know how to respond. I now feel like I don't need this anymore and have cracked it. The reality is I am still 15 stone and have 3 more to go.. Arggh. I just want to eat toast and crisps.

myplace · 15/03/2025 09:11

Well done, @Hartleyhare1206!
@SunshineandrainbowI hated the attention about weight loss. Truth is, I was exactly the same person before and after losing 6 stone. The stars aligned for a while and I was able to focus on it, that’s all. The truth is that I was neither more virtuous nor more self controlled. Merely less distracted! As the following years when I put half the weight back on again have proved!

I am working my way back down the scales again at the moment, still the same person… still the same tendency to try to eat my worries away…

The cure for my weight gain is having fewer worries, that’s all!

Hartleyhare1206 · 15/03/2025 09:13

@myplace this is so wonderfully summed up, and resonates with me hugely xx

Sunshineandrainbow · 15/03/2025 09:26

@myplace spot on. I am currently trying to eat my worries away and guess what the worries are still there once I have devoured the family bag of crisps and cherry Madeira cake.

Today is a new day. I wasn't going to weigh today but I am going to as have put it off for 2 weeks and that is not a good approach.

NorthernGirl1981 · 15/03/2025 09:49

Bookaholic73 · 15/03/2025 08:05

Good morning. It’s weigh day today and I’ve lost another pound. Slow and steady is the way to go I think.

Another lb lost for me today which I was quite surprised about as I’ve done no exercise this week 😬

Today is my wedding anniversary so me and DH are going out for a curry tonight and I can’t bear to think how many calories are going to be in that….

When I went on a diet a few years ago I was incredibly strict with what I ate and I lost weight at a much quicker rate than this time round, but the fact I allow myself to be naughty a few times a week is helping me to keep going. I think I gave up last time because I found going without any treats and not allowing myself to eat my favourite foods became too depressing after a few months, I just couldn’t sustain it.

So if a slow and steady approach (including some chocolate and pizza along the way) is what keeps me going then I’m happy enough with that.

Hartleyhare1206 · 15/03/2025 11:32

@NorthernGirl1981 that sounds a much healthier approach. Happy anniversary 💕
