Any serial diet failers want to give it another go?

After all, it is Monday and Mondays are a good diet starting day!

I've pretty much hit rock bottom and am really down that I can't seem to sort myself out.

There have been many failed attempts where I lose a few pounds then feel pleased with myself so I scoff loads of chocolate to celebrate my loss. Rinse and repeat.

I am now 12st 7, I weighed myself first thing.

Anyone want to give it another go?

How is everyone doing? Today is my weigh-day, but it hasn’t been great. My digestion is a bit sluggish, so I’m not going to count it! I’ll move my weigh-day to Monday, which will tie in with more of you and hope my digestion has improved by then!

ThisUniqueDreamer · 28/03/2025 09:51

Can i join?

I discovered I was the heaviest I d ever been after a holiday in mid january.

I was 76.6kg which is over 12 stone. I am only 5'4

It has been 2 months since I started and I am now down to 72.6 so 11st 6lbs.

I've lost nearly 9lbs or 4kg in 2 months which I am proud of but i am still too over weight for my height.

Id like to get down to 65kg to start with which is 10st 3lbs

I'm doing it by calorie counting and eating more fruits and vegetables.

I’ve moved my weigh-day until next Monday too!! Last weekend I had been AWFUL with my eating and I hadn’t been too good with my exercise either through the week so I decided not to weigh myself on the Monday just gone, and weigh myself this coming Monday instead.

Fingers crossed for both of us! 🤞

Welcome!!

We sound quite similar in that I was 71.4kg when I decided I needed to lose weight and I’m aiming to get down to 60kg.

I’m also counting my calories and upping my exercise.

I really miss cups of tea……I used to drink loads during the day but sadly that meant I was having a lot of sugar too 😬

Can you have tea without sugar? It took me a while to get used to but I never have sugar in it now.

I have tried it without sugar but I just can’t drink it, it just tastes so bland. As I result I now have one cup of tea (with sugar) every other day as my little treat 🤣

Sunshineandrainbow · 28/03/2025 21:45

Do you not like sweeteners @NorthernGirl1981

I like one coffee a day and add a spoonful of total sweet which is Xytiol and meant to be good for the teeth. I have no idea on calories though it's a good point so I must check.

Could you in your one cup of tea start reducing the amount of sugar gradually till you get to a lower level you can tolerate?

I’m not strict enough for that.

I’ve tried dieting before where I’ve been really conscious about calorie intake and not allowing myself anything ‘naughty’ and although I lost weight really well I ended up giving up because I felt like I was depriving myself so much.

So this time round I’m being more relaxed about it as although I am watching my calories and portion sizes etc I am allowing myself to be naughty a few times a week. For example, if I got invited to go out for a meal with friends tomorrow I would happily go and order myself three courses without worrying about it 🤣🤣

Ive lost about 9lbs over the last month, even with this more relaxed approach so I’m sticking with it. One teaspoon of sugar every 48 hours isn’t going to cause me too much angst 🤣

6strings1song · 29/03/2025 07:10

I'm back folks. Finally out of a plateau which started 6th March! I was honestly wavering a bit and nearly jacked it all in. I had been monitoring my weight daily just to see what the hell was going on and I was literally just gaining and losing the same 0.5lb for 3 weeks. Nothing had changed in my diet. The fat % on the scale did keep decreasing though, but I wonder how accurate that is.

I think something hormonal was going on. I felt quite weepy (crying at nothing... ) and have had several migraines. I am almost 3 months since stopping breastfeeding, so wondering if I am having a bit of a hormonal readjustment.

Anyway, as of this morning I am 11st 13.5lbs, which is a 1.3lb loss since the plateau started. Into the 11 stone zone.

Hartleyhare1206 · 29/03/2025 09:05

Morning All,

Happy Saturday!

0.6lbs off for me this week…not as much as I’d hoped for; but realistically it’s as much as I could have expected in a week that saw me have Dominos, a stuffed cookie and my period arrive (a week early🤬🤬)

I know I should be pleased with any loss after all that, but:
a) I’m very bloated and am going to a birthday party tonight and wanted to feel/look nice in my dress (especially as it’s one of my husbands colleagues party and full of all of his work mates so I won’t know anyone there really, so could do without feeling like a self conscious, miserable fat whale in the corner of the room😂
b) I’m perilously close to dropping in to the “next stone” bracket. 13 something sounds so much better, psychologically than 14 something, even if there’s only 1/2 a pound that separates the two!

I know I’m being silly and it doesn’t really matter, but feel a bit off stride with it all and a bit sulky😂

Need to get a grip and probably drink a gallon of water to flush out some period bloat…..oh, and dig deep for some resilience and a better attitude!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, and happy Mother’s Day for those of you that are celebrating this weekend 💕💕

NorthernGirl1981 · 29/03/2025 09:17

Moving down into the next Stone bracket is a huge milestone so it’s absolutely fine to be excited about the prospect!

I was planning on weighing myself on Monday but my husband just said we should all go our for a naughty breakfast in the morning to celebrate Mother’s Day and I definitely don’t want to be weighing myself the day after that 🤣

So I weighed myself this morning and I was surprised to see a bigger loss than I had expected as I haven’t had the best week.

So I started off at 71.4kg and now I’m at 66.6kg…..I’m finally into the “Healthy Weight” category on the BMI chart 🥳

ThisUniqueDreamer · 29/03/2025 09:40

Slightly disappointing loss this week. About 0.5lb. But a loss js a loss. I can see where i went wrong. Stressful week at work reached for sweet treats.

myplace · 31/03/2025 09:03

Well done everyone, even if it was less than you hoped. Next week may well be bigger as a result. The weekly loss isn’t as reliable as the monthly loss, if you see what I mean.

I recorded .4kg loss today- it’s approximate because I accidentally got dressed and forgot to record it. But it was ‘a bit but not a lot’ so I’m guessing at .4kg.

I will look forward to next Monday’s being more organised! It took me ages to find the thread so I’m pinning you all this time!

tealandteal · 31/03/2025 11:09

Well done everyone! After a not so great week, I am down .2kg which considering I had a cream tea at beavers and at school with DS1 isn’t bad going? I have a walking pad arriving on Thursday which I’m hoping will help as I currently spend all day in front of the laptop.

Greenfingers37 · 31/03/2025 11:20

So back at the start of the month , I set myself a goal of half a stone off by the end of March. I’m thrilled to say that I achieved it! 12:7 on 1st March, 12:0 today! I know it’s not a huge loss for a whole month but it’s a start and I’m delighted.
Intermittent fasting, massively reduced alcohol consumption (substituted wine for Bacardi and coke!) and daily exercise seems to be working for me.
April’s goal is another half stone. Slow and steady wins the race.

Hartleyhare1206 · 31/03/2025 13:22

@Greenfingers37 well done! 🥳🥳

myplace · 31/03/2025 13:46

Every loss is a win. Especially alongside managing the demands of every day life.

I was logging calories carefully but quickly realised I don’t really need to. Every day we eat at home, my food is pretty good and in deficit. It’s only eating out and binges that scupper me. So I’m back to eating sensibly and looking after myself.

This week my kitchen is dismantled. I’ve got a freezer full of food to reheat in the microwave, rice, meatballs, chilli, pulled pork and lots of home made soup. And a Tesco finest ready meal to celebrate with when they go and we restock the kitchen 🤣.

Lovely to check in and see so much great news and motivation!

I'm trying to focus on waist measurement as much as weight but finding it a bit disheartening. It keeps going up and down a lot. Overall though really pleased with total weight loss. That first week of 2kg was clearly a massive water weight loss and progress will be slow and steady:

Starting weight 90.7kg
Week 1 88.7
Week 2 87.8
Week 3 87.3
Week 4 87
Week 5 86.7kg

Starting waist measurement: 94cm
Week 1 93
Week 2 91
Week 3 91
Week 4 90
Week 5 92cm

Sunshineandrainbow · 01/04/2025 07:26

Walking pad sounds interesting @tealandteal please report back.

I like walking but struggling to motivate myself to go out and walk once home from work and in my nightie.

myplace · 04/04/2025 13:13

This was my weighday until last Friday when I realised it was not going to work and switched to Monday. I was so tempted to weigh today anyway but have resisted. I’m sticking to weighing once a week, and weighing once. I had so many unhealthy habits around the scales.

So little victories. Yay.

ThisUniqueDreamer · 04/04/2025 19:12

I've not had a great week. So i might delay my weigh in and try better next week

Last week I had a loss and if I have a gain I find it demotivating. Id rather not know

Hartleyhare1206 · 05/04/2025 08:35

1.8lbs off for me this week; and comfortably in the next stone bracket now (finally!) had a sneaky mid week weigh in which showed me as STS. Was feeling quite demotivated but luckily it’s all sorted itself in time for today and the scales were my friend. Weighed in at 13 stones and 13lbs and 19lbs down in total since the end of Jan.

I just couldn't resist. Even though I've had a bad week I weighed this morning and I've lost 1lb this week.

So total weight loss since mid january is 10lbs or 4.7kg

Now 72kg or 11st 4lbs. Only another 4lbs to go until I am in the 10st bracket.

So pleased.

Wishing everyone a good week and lots of progress 😊

Amazing result.

I have the same mindset as you I am not weighing today as I had got under 15 stone and feel if it tips back over into the 15 it will be all over and the 3 stone plus I have lost will be back in a flash.

It's terrible the way I think but I will just keep plodding on. I discovered I enjoy stirfry this week. The nice bags from m and S with a small amount of sauce and I add some Quorn or vegetable sausages. Going to carry on with these over the weekend when I normally take my foot off the pedal a bit.
