Any serial diet failers want to give it another go?

After all, it is Monday and Mondays are a good diet starting day!

I've pretty much hit rock bottom and am really down that I can't seem to sort myself out.

There have been many failed attempts where I lose a few pounds then feel pleased with myself so I scoff loads of chocolate to celebrate my loss. Rinse and repeat.

I am now 12st 7, I weighed myself first thing.

Anyone want to give it another go?

Hello everyone 😀 first couple of days has gone ok. I did a big shop yesterday to get decent food in. So expensive to eat well! Hoping to make the meals last a while....

I looked at some meal planners on diabetes UK website and using ideas from that and a couple of other temporarily successful weight loss plans!

Also getting ideas from a couple of Instagram nutritionists (Dominique something and the woman who does the Zoe nutrition).

Some meals that have worked for me so far:

Pancakes from an old Joe wicks plan and had that with a boiled egg and a salad with raw cauli and broccoli and herbs.

Tomato soup with full fat cottage cheese added to up the protein. I had it with some homemade bread and a couple of oatcakes.

Having mackerel with potatoes, beetroot and egg tonight.

Have also eaten leftover cakes though...🙄

Positives:
Have managed to keep portion sizes smaller than usual.

Negatives
My sweet tooth. Now the cake is finished, I'm going to try not to replace.

My mind is blown, I didn't know you could do that. Going to try Gemini and see what he says.

Wow! I might try that too!

Cosyvibes · 25/02/2025 18:10

Gemini didn't work. Just gave me the standard NHS advice of calories in/out and exercise.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/02/2025 18:12

You can ask chat gpt to write quite a specific plan, eg 1400 calories, x grams carbs, excluding or including certain ingredients. I also get it to work me out a home workout or a running plan etc.

Monstermissy36 · 25/02/2025 18:16

I didn’t realise it could do it, my friend suggested I try… very cool! I was then able to get more details on the exercising, change the meal plan about and shopping list and just make it fit me really well. I’m proper impressed…

NerrSnerr · 25/02/2025 18:43

Things are going ok here. Feeling a bit hungry but trying to up my protein to help with this. Have made a curry for tea tonight to heat up as it's usually the evenings where I end up just having pasta with cheese as it's an easy option but it's 100% my downside. Really need to limit the pasta.

Been having a lot of soup and trying to squeeze as many extra fruit and vegetables in.

Feeling motivated at the moment and have some clothes that are just a tiny bit too tight so hoping they'll fit in the next couple of weeks to keep the motivation up.

wizzler · 25/02/2025 19:43

Eaten sensibly today so feeling positive. More importantly I walked past some mini eggs in a shop today. That's not happened in a long time

What is copilot and where can I find it?

Had a great day today then had an argument with DH and ate 2 chocolate brownies from Lidl.
Tomorrow is going to be better as I have now stocked up on good foods.

Incakewetrust · 25/02/2025 23:30

I didn't eat a lot today but what I did eat wasn't the healthiest. I did however get 13.5k steps in so I'm happy with that!

How's everyone else doing?

DirtyDensDog · 26/02/2025 07:45

Morning all and well done getting through the second day.

I woke up with a massive headache today which is the result of having had no chocolate. I usually consume in copious amounts daily.

I feels like it's been a long two days.

It's amazing how many times I go out into the kitchen on auto pilot, looking for something to eat.

I’m a bit late to the party but could I join? I’m 5ft 5 and 12st 7. I’ve been down previously to 9st 11 which feels good for me. However lockdown and working from home haven’t been my friend. I applied for mounjaro in desperation but they said my photos didn’t match my bmi so I must carry it differently even if i don’t feel great about my size.
I started slimming world after Christmas and even that didn’t kick start me - I’ve done it before and I just didn’t have the motivation this time.
So as of yesterday I’m calorie counting, going to start getting out and walking every day but most of all I’ve decided to lose 7lb at a time. I don’t feel it’s good for my motivation to see 2st 7 to lose so I’m going in 7lb sections.
Had a good day yesterday, drinking copious amounts of tea and water to stop the hunger. I keep walking into the kitchen and opening cupboards too. Good luck everyone!

Hi there. Good plan with dealing with this 7lbs at a time. I'm doing the same.

Good luck.

Can I join too? 😊I am 5ft 6 and currently 12st 3lbs....been on a "diet" since mid January and down 5lbs (from 12st 8lbs). I kind of hoped for a little more, but it seems each lb is very hard fought! I suffer with a lot of hormonal water weight, which really whacks the scales and is demoralising.

My weight has been up and down since my early twenties. At my lowest I was about 8.5st at age 20 (those were the days). I crept up to 11st 7lbs by my mid twenties, but did manage to diet and lose 2st (was doing lots of exercise at the time). After that I settled naturally at around 10st for a good few years, but since the pandemic and WFH my weight has just crept up and up. Prior to the pandemic I also stopped doing regular exercise (martial arts) due to travelling a lot with work. Finally, I have spent a combined 2 years being pregnant and breastfeeding (now thankfully weaned), which I think has made me hold onto the weight. I feel a lot of that is just excuses, but it adds to the whole picture!

I think I am aiming for 10 stone, but would honestly be happy with a healthy BMI. My diet is basically a small breakfast (1 toast), small lunch (omelette or soup) and then a normal portion controlled dinner. No snacks or takeaways. I do enjoy a vino at the weekend. Probably if I cut the this out l out I would lose slightly quicker, but you have to have some small enjoyments in life.

I think if this doesn't work I will be considering Mounjaro, but I am slightly wary of the side effects and long term unknowns. I also feel I don't eat that much anyway...so it probably wouldn't have a massive effect!

It’s the Microsoft AI thingy… same as Chat GDP or whatever it’s called 😂 I’m not very AI literate as yet but was very impressed!

Sorry for that worse than useless explanation 🫣

NerrSnerr · 26/02/2025 19:42

I'm still plodding on here trying to eat healthier. Have done a couple of yoga classes this week but know I need to get out running to make more of a difference. Just need to get up early enough!

TheDogdidGood · 26/02/2025 20:01

Can I join too please. I’m 11 stone 1. I managed to get to 10 stone 13lbs from 11 stone 3lbs at the start of the year so basically just losing the same 3lbs over and over again. I’m talking to a nutritionist now as part of a health plan to lose weight as recommended by a physiotherapist trying to improve my damaged knee but not making much progress. I lose weight during the week and then pile it all back on at the weekend

DirtyDensDog · 27/02/2025 10:14

Checking in for day 4.

To be honest I have surprised myself with the self control I have shown. This is most unlike me.

It's early days though and there's a long road ahead which feels really overwhelming. I'm just telling myself 7lbs at a time.

How's everyone else feeling ?

The sun is out here today. This has sent alarm bells through me knowing that I will soon have to squeeze myself into summer clothes and expose legs and arms.

I really hate seeing myself this fat.

OP posts:
NerrSnerr · 27/02/2025 10:37

I'm still here and feeling the same about summer clothes. I am really, really determined to do it this time and get this weight off for the summer so my legs don't rub together and so I can wear what I want.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/02/2025 11:38

@DirtyDensDog I've had a really good few days but I do feel hungry today, looking at the clock thinking I could eat my lunch already!

I went to the gym this morning and I was quite shocked to see just how untoned and, well, OLD I looked. My arms were very pale and red and blotchy and my whole shape is very middle aged. I know the massive mirrors under strip lighting at 6.30 am are never going to be the most flattering, but I honestly did feel quite unhappy with what I could see. Considering a few years ago I was very lean, tanned, youthful looking. Oh well.

It's sunny here too and I feel like I want to get outdoors even just for half an hour, unfortunately I have trades here today doing some plastering and I won't be able to leave so I will have to make do with the garden on my lunch break. It is still bitterly cold here with a strong wind so probably nicer to see it from the window than be out in it!

wizzler · 27/02/2025 13:23

I'm doing ok and hoping for some positive news when I weigh in on Monday.. so much easier to keep going when you can see results on the scales .

Cosyvibes · 27/02/2025 20:22

Not doing great at all, no motivation to do any exercise and diet hasn't been good. On top of that I've drunk more wine than usual. Think it's just where I am in my cycle, feeling totally rubbish and flat.

Ordering a Tesco tonight and will hopefully start afresh tomorrow.

tealandteal · 27/02/2025 21:18

Hi everyone, it’s nice to have this thread to check into. So far I have stickers to my planned calories even when making food for DC, and I made some very yummy cheese straws earlier. I did however work out how long it would take me to get to my goal based on what I think is a reasonable monthly weight loss and it was so long! Well done to everyone that has kept to plan and good luck to everyone finding it a bit tougher.

TealSloth · 27/02/2025 22:17

Hi there I like to join am 13. 12 because of my under active thyroid I find it hard to loose weight. Every day is like a new start to loose them few pounds. Need to kick start on workout.

ForAzureSeal · 27/02/2025 22:46

Hello everyone. I've had an ok couple of days. Made another diabetes UK recipe - a chili con carne. Made it in the slow cooker without the spices and kidney beans so it was a healthy Bolognese with half an then added other bits and had eut the cauliflower pilaf (cauliflower meant to be good for menopause symptoms?)

Have a dinner out tomorrow which I'm nervous about .

I like the idea of chunks of weight rather than the whole lot. I e got at least 20kgs / 3 stone to lose (to get to very edge of healthy weight). It does rant feel possible right now.
