I know there are some old posts regarding fast800 but I was wondering if there's anyone else doing it currently, that would like to join forces and compare notes?

This came up on my feed today and after doing some reading, I've decided to start tomorrow. Anyone else?

Hi @CharliePoppins welcome and congrats on your new baby! Huel sounds great for when you don’t have time to make meals. I do think though that you definitely don’t want to stress your body too much though so definitely listen to your body, drink lots of water etc. maybe you could do the shakes, healthy non calorie counted dinner and maybe nuts, fruit, dark chocolate etc for snacks and skip calorie counting - you might find weight still comes off nicely like that but still fast 800 style foods?

thanks so much for the tips @thenewaveragebear1983 will definitely try that! interesting that appetite suppressant might be to do with insulin release when having more calories. Funnily enough my yearning for a new book might be answered as mms som jack has a book coming out next month! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Food-Noise-medications-nutrition-cravings/dp/B0DY21WCC8?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.C5uPLlfZ261_h1S6gFRd7N3EWeq0sNf_T6JzpGuwEoWDW74GqQYu_PNGR3YWt2IebcpwW5dRXbJ33T16gaew-bN7olk95VSUBkM_oaV0VVY.bATArsB9SGBCOYsQNZ8Of2hw3O7RXasM9FVnzaxgToo&dib_tag=se

Yes, @Clearingaspace the sad loss of Michael felt very personal to many people. He and his wife's books have been keeping us company in the kitchen for a very long time. And of course we know he had much more to offer. There won't be another like him.

@Clearingaspacethanks for the book recommendation, I wonder how much of it is about weight loss glp1 drugs?( I know they have their place but there are a huge huge number of people battling on with diets who are nowhere near eligible for WLI. I’m bmi overweight but I’d need to gain 2.5 stone to be eligible) - I’d still like to have some support for food noise and all the other things. I’m glad MM’s family are continuing his work in some capacity too

I’ve got a headache today. I decided as it is Friday I would have a treat, had a supermarket bakery cookie and now have a thumping head - could this be from all the sugar? I didn’t actually even enjoy it.

Sign up for the online programme / app and stick to it. It measures all your macros for you and balances all your fibre and minerals.

How’s everyone getting on? I’ll be honest, I am not getting close to 800 (maybe one day a week I manage it) but I’m finding a nice groove at around 1250. I am trying to keep the carbs low where possible. I’m delaying breakfast as late as I can, but again, it’s not always that easy. I am struggling with balancing running and low cal/carb, and I definitely run better in the days after I have had more carbs. I’m still trying though, and actually aiming for 800 is how I’m successfully hitting 1200 each day, rather than aiming for 1500 and hitting 1700/1800 each day. I have lost I think 4.5 lbs so far in March which is good for me as i lose weight so very very slowly.

Hope everyone’s doing ok 👌

KrazyboutKillian · 27/03/2025 19:27

I’m not counting cals but being mindful of the carbs , 1/2 stone since Xmas which is slow but in right direction

Clearingaspace · 27/03/2025 20:23

@thenewaveragebear1983 that’s great about your 4lbs off. The original fast 800 didn’t have a carb limit - maybe you could include some extra carbs that also have protein and let your carbs be a bit higher but under 100g carbs? Stuff like nuts, lentils, chickpeas?

well done @KrazyboutKillian on your loss too. Slow and steady should mean the weight stays off.

I haven’t been well I think I had either flu or Covid, but beginning to feel normal enough to try and aim for 800 tomorrow and see what happens. interestingly / scarily I have put my stats into chronometer food logging app and set my weekly w/l target to the max without a warning of it being an extreme diet (loss of 1.75lbs a week) and even then the calorie target is only 975 calories per day 😧 so basically on the lines of the calories in keto version of fast 800.

Clearingaspace · 02/04/2025 19:36

Just popping on to say I made the lemon chicken and it was yum, thanks @thenewaveragebear1983

i had a decent day today but not really fast 800 - my cals under 1200 and carbs under 60.

Is anyone still fast 800ing?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/04/2025 20:16

@Clearingaspacenot really. My calories gradually creeping up to around 1200 and the last few days I’ve had terrible sugar cravings. Hormones again! It comes round quickly doesn’t it?

anyway- I’d like to get back in the fast800 zone but i find the low calories very challenging. But definitely a Mediterranean diet/1000 calorie diet would help me I think 🤔

Clearingaspace · 03/04/2025 11:58

@thenewaveragebear1983 I think we are in a similar place I would like to aim for approx 1000 and med style too. Although I have judt eaten toast so don’t think I will hit my targets today unfortunately!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/04/2025 17:28

@Clearingaspacei’d forgotten I am out for food tonight and there is nothing remotely ‘good’ on the menu so I guess today is a write off! I was 1lb down this morning on my midweek weigh in so it’s a bit annoying that I can’t maintain that, but I guess if I have 3 really strict days I could do. I think aiming for 800 was really helping me end up on 1100 so after today I am going to get my head back into that zone.

Clearingaspace · 03/04/2025 17:34

Well done on your loss and fingers crossed tomorrow’s weighin will surprise you. I will try and join you tomorrow with aiming for 800 - but I will be ok if it’s higher if food is more on track.

I am cross with myself as I had quite a good loss this morning, but bread nearly always causes me a weight gain annoyingly’. I think my body saw I was losing for a change and panicked.
