I know there are some old posts regarding fast800 but I was wondering if there's anyone else doing it currently, that would like to join forces and compare notes?

This came up on my feed today and after doing some reading, I've decided to start tomorrow. Anyone else?

Could I join? I am about to start week 4 - had a headache day 3-5 but through that now. Have lost 7lbs so far.
what is working for me is absolute meal planning & sticking to the low carb/ high protein recipes from the fast 800 recipe books. This last week has been closer to 1000 cals per day, so aiming to be more disciplined.
Good luck!

chalkyc2 · 24/02/2025 06:12

I'm back on it as of today! Back from hols and I have around 2 stone to lose....

I've done it before and lost a significant amount over a year April 23-24. Unfortunately am now creeping up again and never made it to my actual target so I'm back focusing for 12 weeks and will see where that gets me!

I have the app and the books but am bad at recipe planning!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/02/2025 07:21

My starting weight is 162.2lbs (I started the year at 163.5 so after nearly 2 months of calorie counting and exercise I've lost a measley 1.5lbs 🤦‍♀️) my target weight is ideally 145, but to be honest that feels so far off right now, I think I'll just go in half stone chunks. Anyway, good luck to everyone starting today, it's so nice to have so many all starting together!

ZenNudist · 24/02/2025 09:43

My starting weight was 74kg in September. I lost 10 ish kg mainly through taking up running and cutting back on sugar and junk but I bought at MM's books and started reading up on the med diet principles.

I was 68.7kg when I officially started the fast 800 on 6 January

I'm now 64.1kg which at 5'3 is overweight on the NHS bmi calculator buy I'm not sticking to it after the first 2 weeks. I probably should but life gets in the way. I've been more like 1000 calories or 1200 some days which what My fitness pal says I need to eat to lose weight slowly.

ZenNudist · 24/02/2025 09:48

Today I'm cooking asparagus pea tomato and mozzarella frittatas. Based on this recipe. I hope you can see it. Mine works out at 103 cals per frittata so I might have no breakfast and 2 for lunch with salad.

Off for a run!

Fast800 - starting tomorrow.
SuperGinger · 24/02/2025 09:57

This morning was a back to school disaster and I had two cups of tea with milk and a slice of toast with marmite as these antibiotics I'm on make me feel so horrible.

KrazyboutKillian · 24/02/2025 12:57

Not the best of starts
dp made me tea and toast this morning , so not a brilliant breakfast
I forgot to tell him I only wanted camomile tea ( he is first up )

so moving on , feta salad lunch & ff Greek yoghurt with tangerine in
( not sure if fruit is allowed )

tonight fish and veg no carbs

starting at 13 s 11
want to aim for 10s
long weekend away on 7th , want to lose some b4 then , but hopefully these two weeks will be a decent kick start

@ZenNudist thanks for the new receipe

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/02/2025 13:02

@KrazyboutKillian fruit is allowed but not high fructose, tropical fruits - so thinking green apples, pears, berries as opposed to mango, banana and pineapple.

Frozen berries are great for fast800, cheap and no waste.

Rocketpants50 · 24/02/2025 13:10

Am in to!
Started (again) today.
Am very cross as did it last year and lost 2 stone which I then put back on.
Yogurt and berries for breakfast - my standard.
Eggs for lunch with some tomatoes and a little bit of goats cheese. Not a fan of eggs but I tend to have them most days for lunch as its easy and quick and can swap things in like a bit of smoked salmon.
we
Courgetti is great.

9 weeks until I need to get into a dress.

StealthyBMI · 24/02/2025 14:24

I am coming up to the end of 8 weeks Fast 800 and have lost 9kg. At first I stuck religiously to 800 cals but these days I am usually around 900-1000. And I have had quite a few weekends off plan - trying to moderate but visiting friends etc where I don't have control over what I eat. I have found that drinking alcohol makes my weight increase for a few days but as long as I generally keep to calories, the weight does drop a few days later. Generally I kept eating breakfast (yoghurt + berries), usually with eggs for lunch and some form of protein + veg dinner. I am now adding a few more beans, chickpeas etc in as I don't think I can stick with just leafy greens and veg for another 4 weeks. I also started walking every morning, and have now added in 2-3 gym sessions a week, and now trying to move towards intermittent fasting too to keep the weight loss moving. Good luck to everyone starting out!

HollyPollyMolly · 24/02/2025 19:05

So I started today and fasted til 12 o clock.

I've had porridge for breakfast with some cranberries - not a fast 800 recipe but I'd not been food shopping yet.

For tea I made the turkey bolognaise but every shop in my area is sold out of courgette so I had to use butternut squash instead of courgette as a pasta substitute. I hope this doesn't affect my calories too much, I didn't think to weigh before I stuffed my face.

2 cups of coffee and 4 pints of water. Fasting starts again in 55 minutes so might sneak a cup of tea in!

Weekends are my huge downfall. I love a bottle of wine or a few gins!

OP posts:
ZenNudist · 24/02/2025 19:13

@HollyPollyMolly well done for sticking with it on day 1.

MM says a glass of wine fits into the diet as part of a healthy lifestyle. Problem is wine is so calorific. It seems gin would be more sensible with low cal tonic. And definitely a weekend treat!.

My problem with booze is then I snack.

It seems that some nights out and meals out are inevitable. I figure I will be able to stick to this diet indefinitely if I also have the odd night out but try not to go overboard (e.g. have the chips but share them, or have 2 glasses of wine not a bottle, avoid the rice and naan at that curry place, choose the fish not the pizza at the Italian restaurant. )

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/02/2025 19:28

@HollyPollyMolly great start. I have also had a good first day. I didn't eat until lunchtime, I had a big bowl of tuna salad and had my yoghurt and blueberries which were supposed to be my breakfast. Mid afternoon I had a snack box of veg, cherry toms, feta, crab sticks. Then for dinner I had salmon and stir fry veg with A tbsp of stir fry sauce. Now just settling down with a sugar free jelly and a Sprite Zero. I walked the dog this morning and I ran 5km after work.

Tomorrow is my office day, I usually find Tuesdays tricky because I come home really frazzled and eat loads of rubbish. I've prepped my lunch and a few snacks. When I get in I have a tub of tomato soup ready, I'm thinking that it's quite filling and slow to eat, which might hopefully prevent the frenzied eating I usually do. I only have a 30 minute turnaround after work before having to go out again to kids football.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/02/2025 19:30

Oh and I've ended the day on 900 cals and 62g carbs which I am very pleased with.

Rocketpants50 · 24/02/2025 19:43

My down fall is tea every day, need to just eat less! It's healthy but just eat far too much. I almost do it without realising so need to mentally just make a little plate.

OhCobblers · 24/02/2025 20:15

Eating window from 2.30-8pm today and ended the day on 777 calories. Too little?

Peri menopause targeted exercise for 20 mins this morning!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/02/2025 06:55

Morning all, is anyone weighing daily as mentioned in the book? I'm not usually a fan of too frequent weigh ins because I go a bit scale crazy, but I did hop on this morning and I'm 2lbs down! Of course, just water weight at this stage. But it is very motivating.

I've been considering this but if I forget one day, I know I'll be annoyed with myself. Might jump on now and see what they say!

I weighed everyday before, I find as long as you are in a 2/3 pound range its ok as long as that bottom of the range keeps creeping down. It keeps me in check. As soon as I don't weigh that's when I get into trouble and think I am still OK!

It's good to have this post to try and keep in check! Need to weigh my food more too- not just guess. My 100g of yogurt can vary!

KrazyboutKillian · 25/02/2025 13:04

I weigh most days , lost 1lb since yesterday , every bit counts

bit of a strange lunch, salad stuff , few peas , and tinned sardines , feel v full , at the moment I’m concentrating on protein and veggies , not so much on calories.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/02/2025 15:08

@Rocketpants50 I buy the 100g snap pots of Greek yoghurt, Asda do them. They are technically more expensive but 8 pots last longer than 1kg big pot so obviously I do eat less

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/02/2025 20:07

@HollyPollyMolly I'll probably only do every other day and only if I've done well 🤣 still only record official weigh ins on Mondays as well.

I had a good day today, not quite fast800 but I did manage 1200 cals and 90h carbs, so significantly less than I would usually have. I was in the office and it's always a terribly looooong boring day, I was very glad there wasn't any biscuits as at around 3pm we alll start craving a pick me up!

Tomorrow I am going to run first thing. I'm working so will plan my meals/snacks. I need to drink more water and I think tomorrow will be a challenge as it's day 3, must resist the carb cravings!

Day 3 for me tomorrow too, should I expect carb cravings?

I've had a head ache all day today that I haven't been able to shift, wondering if it's diet related?

@HollyPollyMolly yes I'd imagine the headache is due to the change in diet and reduced carbs. Drink plenty of water but also try and add a bit of salt to your food, it really helps. I think the general cravings sort of 'peak' after 3-4 days, which does make sense as you're using up all your stored glycogen. Once you've switched to burning fat for fuel, you can go into keto which is where you start to feel reduced cravings and more energy, although Fast800 isn't low enough carb to go into full ketosis really. I do recall that after a few days you start to feel very energised and like your metabolism is waking up. It's a really good feeling.

Looking forward to this!

Really struggled today, my headache was off the scale so I broke my fast early to eat with some pain killers.

How is everyone else getting on?
