I have been out of control since we got back from holidays 6 weeks ago. For some reason can't get get inti the mindset of eating healthily for more then 5 days to the point i binge even on dark chocolate. The only way for me is to do 30 days of no sugar , not even dark chocolate and hopefully my mind will rest again. Anyway wants to join me from tomorrow?

I started this for the 1st August! (And am feeling much better).

I've ridiculously given myself a star chart, which is helping tremendously. I printed out a blank calendar page for Aug 2024 and everynight at bedtime I carefully stick on a smiley faced sticker. It's very satisfying. 😂

Me! I did about 40 days recently. Felt amazing. It wasn't just the sugar, I just ate so much better every day, stuck to my calorie allowance every day..... reintroduced sugar and wow, I've been like a toddler at a birthday party ever since. Just cannot stop!!

So yes. Me definitely. 👍

CoalTit · 18/08/2024 18:05

I'm not ready and haven't the strength, but I'm really interested.

Bananamuffins123 · 18/08/2024 18:41

I have done it in the past too and as you are saying felt amazing, every time i start eating crap i do this and it really helps me reset. I need to do it now before the weather changes and its time to put my jeans on😂 . Wearing summer dresses is not very motivating.

I'm in. I have no self control at all when it comes to sugar, I desperately need this!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/08/2024 20:20

@Bananamuffins123 are you starting tomorrow? I was going to start today but then ds made cookies so I ate one 🤦‍♀️ there's no moderation for me, I have to go cold turkey

mikado1 · 18/08/2024 20:30

I did this a year and a half ago, almost, and it's the best thing I ever did. I consider myself an addict tbh and once the sugar and flour were gone, life in general became better. Best of luck, you'll feel great.

Marlaysydney12 · 18/08/2024 20:31

I stopped eating sugar yesterday, to help with my anxiety and blood sugar levels. I've been eating normally otherwise. Good idea to stick to it for 30 days!

I'm up for this. Being sugar free usually makes me feel amazing but it's much harder in the summer. I just have a camping weekend next weekend to get through, where there will be alcohol. Are you including/ excluding alcohol?

MaryQueenofPotts · 18/08/2024 21:09

This is interesting.
I think i need to give it a go.

Are you excluding added sugar only? Or carbs too?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/08/2024 21:19

When I did it previously, I excluded any sugar or sugars such as honey, added fructose, dextrose, maltose, plus any artificial sweeteners, in everything. I did eat whole fruit. That's what I'll do again this time- it forces me to just eat a really clean whole diet because literally everything has sugar(s) in.
I saw a dog ice cream in a cafe the other day with sugar in 😧 why?????

I always feel so much better if I give up alcohol too.

TeamPolin · 19/08/2024 08:33

Good luck today everyone!

averywittyusername · 19/08/2024 09:06

Yes please! I need this now, going on holiday 12 September so I might not make the full 30 days but it's such a good idea. Day 1 for me (and I'm liking the idea of a star chart 😂)

mikado1 · 19/08/2024 14:35

There's an I am Sober app you can download to pledge and review each day. You just enter sugar as your drug of choice and it counts your days etc! Not a nice day here so, for me, that makes it a harder day, so hope everyone is doing OK. Just for today stick at it! Reward lies ahead 😃

Mostly chocolate, biscuits, treats in general. I haven't eaten much carbs anyway for years ,so no pasta, bread, rice. Even cakes and pastries etc don't appeal to me, just chocolate things that i have no stop button for.

I won't lie, I found today hard. There was a lot of temptations around, took the kids to a bakery for lunch and nearly cried at the delicious confections available 😢

Still, all done. 👍 day 1 in the bag.

TeamPolin · 20/08/2024 19:24

2 days in. So far have stuck to it.

Am not going low carb or worrying about hidden sugar in things like bread etc. But no chocolate, biscuits, sweets, ice cream, puds or cake etc.

My face looks less puffy today. So that's something.

mikado1 · 20/08/2024 19:32

Well done!

Werweisswohin · 20/08/2024 19:35

It's impossible to completely cut out all sugars from the diet - do you mean cutting out products with added sugar/sugar based?

Songlines · 20/08/2024 19:37

Can I join, a day late?
I'm a sugar addict. The only thing for me is to go cold turkey, once I've had something sweet my brain just shouts 'More, give me more'. Totally accidently I've had no refined sugar today, so I'll take that as a starter.

VentBox · 20/08/2024 19:58

I have been doing this for a few months, it still feels hard everyday. Checking ingredients for all of the hidden sugar is eye opening, but not in a good way. Looking forward to seeing some results. Will be glad of the support here!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/08/2024 20:14

I ate loads of crap today 🤦‍♀️

UCDLA · 20/08/2024 20:19

I did this a few years ago and my health and weight were the best ever when I stuck to it! I need to do it again but sadly am stuck firmly in 'holiday mode' and can't shut off the cravings. Had so many family birthdays and days out this month so my body and brain are having a free for all. I've just had a chocolate cupcake then found this thread, so will start tomorrow. When I did it last time I cut all sweet treats along with carbs like pasta and rice, but did allow myself fruit and a cheeky 2 sugars in my morning brews so I will do that again, but everything else is off limits. It really is an addiction for me. I can't just have one thing, as soon as I do it's the whole packet of biscuits gone, then I tell myself no more...then do it all again the next day. It's really stupid because I know cutting it just simply works for me - why don't I JFDI!

Great idea! Joining you OP
