I’m trying to do a kind of modified version of OMAD (one meal a day) today I’ve had (low calorie) fruit, coffee with a splash of milk and lots of water, but won’t eat a proper meal until the evening. I have some veg to snack on after my meal too as sometimes I feel peckish after dinner.

Currently live a fairly sedentary lifestyle so I really feel 3 quite big meals is too much me while I’m trying to lose weight. I feel that’s a hangover from my 20s and early 30s when I was super active and did need that.

I’m not very hungry right now but I’m going to make a tea and drink more water. Then a frozen banana smoothie before dinner.

I’ve put everything into myfitness and it should come to around 900 calories. I’m 5ft 2 so my recommended calorie allowance if eating in deficit is about 1200.

I’m hoping to keep this going for a few days every week and see if there’s any change on the scales by the end of September. I’ve been stuck at around 10st 12 for a while now.

Resisterance · 22/08/2024 15:28

Me! First time of experiencing chub rub this year after previously being fairly trim. Work, study, solo parenting have made it hard to exercise and tiredness has made me reach for the sugar.

I'm currently 11.7 stone and would like to get to 10. Well less really but id be happy with 10 stone.

hby9628 · 22/08/2024 15:29

Yes plse. I've had a terrible couple of months as my dad died suddenly & I've not been looking after myself. Piled on a stone on top of the stone I was hoping to lose
I'm back off hols tomorrow & am going for it.
I've signed up to some exercise classes & need to get more active. I feel awful right now so I need to address it.

ShoehornSheryl · 22/08/2024 15:35

Yes please. Gained over a stone in the last few months and wanted to lose anyway.

i don’t believe in diets (they trigger binges for me) so i wont be doing any ting crazy as i want it to last. So for me ill be cutting out junk food and I want to get into a habit of exercising, Pilates / strength training / walking.

Grecianrainbow · 22/08/2024 17:25

I’ve re-set my mfp data. Oh to be as fat as the first time I thought I was fat! As it was making me depressed seeing how much I’d put on.

I’m going to try for a soft start after the weekend and have calculated my tdee so working to that with a 500cal deficit and trying macros too. That’s going to start me on 1700 which feels ridiculous but I must be in denial about my calorie intake I think right now.

Hello would love to join, 30, recently and I mean very recently single. 5ft 4 and weighing in at a total of 14st5 BMI of 35! 😭😭😭 I plan on weighing in on Fridays. I would love the confidence to rebuild and my weight has got out of control

I’d love to be 12st 5 for 1st December. Still overweight but I’d be more accepting and feel a lot more comfy! So many beautiful dresses that I can’t wear as they don’t fit.

would love to post daily on this thread and weekly weigh in. I live alone and could really do the support. My aim is to move a bit more and stick to 1400 calories a day calorie counting.

Candy500 · 23/08/2024 00:57

Yes I would like to join - over 50 two stone to lose. Can anyone advise where to start I cant stick to any plan keep trying different things for a day then I actually completely forget and even if I remember Im supposed to be eating differently my will is over rided- feels like a brain fog issue. Cant track calories etc struggle to work out what to buy so food wasted. Any tips for the first week to get going??

what type of meals do you tend to eat while calorie counting?

Candy500 · 23/08/2024 01:00

what type of meals do you tend to eat while calorie counting?

Hello, I’m not a breakfast person but do work from home so it makes it easier. My mock day is as follows:

Three egg omelette with cheese, ham and spinach and mushrooms for brunch (11am ish)

and then milky way for a snack mid afternoon.

chicken breast wrapped in ham stuffed with extra light philadelphia, new potatoes and either salad of veg.

That was roughly coming in at 1400 on my calorie counter using Tesco products.

I’ve seen a few good meal ideas on TikTok such as burger bowl with 5% low fat mince, and low calorie fajitas etc so will post on here and try a few things.

lorisparkle · 23/08/2024 08:12

@Candy500 I have found trying to control my weight now I am 50 incredibly challenging (I have never had this problem before).

I use the MyNetDiary app to track both my weight and intermittent fasting

There is so much conflicting information about what you should and shouldn't eat, whether you should fast or not, what kind of exercise you should and shouldn't do during menopause I haven't a clue!

My plan is 16:8 for intermittent fasting and then reducing carbs (particularly processed food such as cakes and bread)

For example my plan is that I start with an omelette with just eggs and vegetables , have protein porridge with fruit in the afternoon then dinner containing mainly chicken and veg. I have a couple of pieces of dark chocolate and fruit as snacks. I have soya protein milk in my porridge and drink hot or sparkling water. My main problem is sticking with my plan as I live with three teenage boys so the house is full of snacks!

I am trying to increase my exercise by walking more and gentle exercise

I have no idea if that is right or will work

qwerty1972 · 24/08/2024 10:59

Posting a quick update on my ‘pre-September warm-up’. I’m failing to drink more water (must try harder), but I’ve gone for a ‘walk’ every day since joining this thread. I’m now easily pushing (fulltime wheelchair user) over a mile each walk. My son and I have just started one of those virtual challenges. We are walking around Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and he will get a medal when we complete the distance. Looking forward to proper food control post-holiday. September 1st here we come.

Ellie8370 · 24/08/2024 11:24

I'd love to join. I've got about 3 stone to lose in total but so long as the weights coming instead of going on I'll be happy 🤦🏻‍♀️
I'm 41, also a single parent so time is limited and I'm also due to go in for surgery next month so I'll be off my feet for a bit so exercise will be minimal then but I'd really like some motivation to keep my food on track.

I do have MFP but have been using nutracheck instead recently so I'm just tracking my calories, keeping my water intake up and trying to increase steps where I can.
I'm perimenopausal and on hrt so I know I struggle with emotional/stress eating, I always have but seems to be worse since my hormones are all over the place 😂 so I'm also trying to change my sleep and bedtime routine so I'm properly rested as I know that's an issue for me too but the motivation is with me currently so starting as I mean to go on!

Pixie2015 · 24/08/2024 16:54

Did my first bit of focussed exercise today to help with this - but having Chinese for family celebration!

frenchbreadandbites · 24/08/2024 20:27

@Ellie8370 please join! Doesn't matter how much you want to lose we're all here motivate each other

@qwerty1972 not sure if you're on the what's app group but I shared the gigantic two litre water bottle I got from Amazon. If you fill it in the morning you can track your water and make sure it is gone by the time you go to bed.

@lorisparkle your plan sounds fabulous and we're here to support you every step of the way.

@Candy500 I find tracking calories on my fitness pal the best. And weighing and measuring food. Boring but you see where you're using up calories

@Grecianrainbow I feel your pain. My profile picture is still when I was in the fittest shape of my life about eight years ago

@hby9628 I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Sending a massive hug your way. Go easy on yourself but we're all here for you. Aside from weight loss, exercise will be your friend and help your mind. Sending loads of love

@Resisterance solo parent myself so I can totally empathise with the pain. But we need to put ourselves first too! I find it so hard to find the time to exercise. But going to attempt some home workouts

@lorisparkle spa day sounded amazing. I hope you had the best time

Welcome @Foxymoxy68 really glad to have you join in on the 9th

@InstantUserNameJustAddWater I thought I was the only one that hadn't slept for so long. My soon to be 4 year old has never slept a full night. I sympathise. Sugar has been my crutch

@Rusticanella congrats on your new baby. More than welcome to join. Hope you and your little one are doing well.

Wow @QuirkyBrickSwan good luck for 100km walk/run! You'll need all the energy for that. How impressive.

@youaremysunshine2623 well done for starting already. How's is going? I'm starting a bit earlier too. Though my birthday is beginning of sept so allowing myself a couple of cheat days

@Blosssom well done for the self restraint. Hope you're having a great weekend.

After being seriously ill and dropping to 7st I needed to gain weight. I was put on steroids and they completely messed up my appetite. That was a few years ago and now I am double that weight. 2st by Christmas would be a great start. However, I need to keep going after that. 3st would be great. 4st amazing. 4.5st ideal.

frenchbreadandbites · 24/08/2024 21:00

@Blarn did you get any recommendations? At home I liked yoga with Adrienne. But maybe see if you can find a reformer Pilates studio. I had a couple of sessions and it was brutal but amazing

@klc75 we will be behind you every step of the way.

@Namerequired of course you can. Welcome to the party! Slow and steady wins the race

Thank you for the tag! I‘m really enjoying the meditation and hypnotherapy. I lost a pound the first week which is ok.

I need to lose exactly two stones to reach my pre pregnancy weight and by Christmas, it would be the best Christmas for me.

I've started tap dancing again after about 30 years! Bought my tap shoes and very excited to go to dance class for me not to drop off my daughters!
Need to get moving more regularly too.
And I'm not saying no chocolate but a lot less! No chocolate would make me feel very sad and grumpy. Just a little bit now and again instead.
Dh has been told to stop buying too good to go bags from Greggs. No matter how cheap. I don't need 8 doughnuts!

00BonneMaman00 · 24/08/2024 22:22

I would love to join you OP
I have 3st to lose but it would be great to lose 2 to begin with!

Am 48 so peri has kicked in
Drink wine at weekends, so need to knock that on the head.
Planning to start personal training in Sept & generally eat less, move round more.

Really need to actually do it this time!
