On holiday and after a stressful four years I'm ready to get fit and healthy and lose two stone. I'm going to start at the beginning of September. Would anyone like to join and motivate each other?

Day 12: 140.2lbs so nearly 4.5lbs and that's the end of the easy weight loss for me I predict. It will be slow from this point onwards.
I'm in awe of your fasts @Peae. i don't eat from 9pm until lunch(ish) 5 days a week as i never really fancy food in the morning but beyond 15hrs I find it hard. Amazing discipline so I will give it a go next Sunday night into Monday and see if I can get as far as dinner ( I have done that before but not often).

Blarn · 12/09/2024 10:48

Yesterday I also had a slice of banana bread and two biscuits before bed. Bit I really didn't enjoy the biscuits, I ate them as I was feeling snuffly and achey but realised I didn't want them at all. Back to fasting until lunch today and it will be a short slow walk at lunch as dd2 will be coming with me, but still better than nothing. Not sure what to have for lunch though.

Dinner is chicken wraps with onions and peppers, rice, beans and cheese. No wraps for me though as I went off thema while ago so I just have mine layered in a bowl. Yum.

sparklyglitterball · 12/09/2024 13:21

I'd like to join please! I already follow intermittent fasting most days........but often ends up being a longer eating window than it should because I like to have a little'treat' snack once dc are in bed. This week I've started trying to lower carbs, increase protein and veggies. I've also logged everything on my Fitbit app and can see how quickly the calories rack up 😳 I usually run 2-3 times per week and am trying to add in more walking where possible too.

SatinHeart · 12/09/2024 13:30

@GogAndMagog I've been doing Fast 800 too, I started in August but only managed 2 weeks of 800 calories every single day, I've now switched to 4 days a week of strict 800, with limited carbs/sugar on the other days but not counting calories.

Seem to have settled in to losing about 1 lb a week. I'm sure I read somewhere that Fast 800 isnt actually all that fast if you only have a stone or two to lose.

Leavestumble · 12/09/2024 17:42

Haven't kept up my water-intake today as limited confort breaks! How do others manage this? Do you try to drink more first thing/at night? Also feeling very moody and have a complete lack of patience. Maybe due to water intake today? Or due to body getting used to new regime? Anyway, felt sorry for my colleagues!! Opps!

I'm intrigued by your regime, can you tell me about your fasting, is it a specific diet? Thank you!

I would love to! I am fasting and following guidance mostly from the books, podcasts and Facebook groups of Megan Ramos, Jason Fung and Gin Stevens. I'm not following one of the recommended protocols, I change my fasting/feasting depending on social and work commitments.

I was already eating low UPF, not snacking, walking 12k steps a day, swimming and weightlifting. But, in the last few weeks I have completely quit sugar and gone from 16:8 to longer fasts. I never count calories or macros or anything like that (you're not supposed to), but I am careful that the last meal of a 'feast' is satiating in terms of protein and fats.

One thing I would say is that although about hour 21 I get hungry and miserable, after that it's easy. It's a relief not to have to think about shopping, cooking and eating. I feel mentally clear and physically a lot more energetic. I sleep much better when I'm fasting and I no longer have a slump in the afternoon.

Day 13: 140lbs exactly - will try to keep most of it off over the weekend.

Peae · 14/09/2024 11:21

Still going strong here. Not so many steps this week due to needing car for work, but as soon as the weather's good I'm out walking in an evening. No sugar and have started another 36-hour fast after a good four meals in a row since Thursday teatime. I think that this is the first time I've fasted on a Saturday, so this will mean addressing the grazing I'd normally do and the takeaway I often have on a Saturday night. I've just hit 19 hours, feeling great and looking forward to seeing the scales on Monday morning.

I keep thinking, "why didn't I start doing this months ago??" but when I reflect on the last few months I can see they were full of steps moving towards being able to do extended fasts.

Saschka · 14/09/2024 12:10

72kg, so 2kg lost since I started this. Not bad - I’m not really feeling like I am starving myself. I think getting back to running is doing most of it, I’m really enjoying C25k and feeling enthused about starting trail running again once I can do 5k comfortably

Scarletpig1 · 15/09/2024 07:46

Lost 2 pounds this week after losing nothing last week so pleased with that 😀

Progress is absolutely glacial here.

In terms of calories and exercise, I'm sticking to the plan 100% - on average 13,000 steps per day, an additional workout every other day, fasting in the morning and very modest lunch and dinner.

And yet the weight loss is very slow.

Why is it?! My clothes fit much better, maybe something happening but not much showing on the scales?

Current weight 77kg, having started at 79kg on 1 September.

Blarn · 15/09/2024 09:40

I've had a couple of days of not amazing food: a McCrispy and a mozzarella stick on Friday as dd1 was allowed to pick dinner as a reward. Had a cookie too and a kinder chocolate bar and a sausage and rocket sandwich for lunch. Yesterday had a little slice of bread pudding, a couple of chicken and veg pakoras from the farmers market, a corn thin with cream cheese. So none if it good but looking back not actually a lot of food!

Not wanting to weigh myself as a week until my period is due! Might just do it tomorrow and get it over with! I am bloated thanks to pms but my ibs is causing awful bloating right now. I van tell that my trousers are a little looser but as soon as I have eaten or even drunk anything at the moment my stomach balloons.

TotteringBy · 15/09/2024 09:46

Yay - I'm down 3 pounds this week.
Now 12 stone 0.8 pounds, so just under half a stone since I started at August bank holiday weekend.
Half a stone is a big milestone for me, and hopefully by next week I'll be safely under 12 stone, another milestone.
Feeling much better in myself, sleeping better on the whole and enjoying not feeling so bloated. Had a chat with the GP about my cholesterol and going to carry on for three months before a recheck. Really hoping to get it down with diet and exercise and losing weight along the way as I don't want to go on statins.
The exercise helps enormously and I've really been enjoying some lovely long walks in some lovely Autumn weather.

Sneaky weigh-ins this week have had me under 13st, but today I'm weighing in at 13st 1lb, meaning a 2lb loss this week. Still 3 weeks away from my 'deadline' for getting under 13st.
Only averaging 11k steps a day this week due to poor weather and sedentary commitments. A bit frustrating as I feel so much better when I can walk more often.
Fallen off the wagon today in terms of sugar, making me sugar-free for 20/22 days. I really think it makes a difference and I can't get away with sugar even once a week.
This week I've managed fasts of 40hr, 28hr and 42hr. Still struggling at the 24hr point with hunger, but my sleep is so much better after a day of fasting. I'm thinking of doing a week of OMAD next week.

Peae · 15/09/2024 12:46

I've just worked out that half way between the 1 September and 24 December is 28 October. Got me wondering if I am on track for losing a stone since the 1 September, as per the thread's title. (It'll be another 8lb in 6 weeks for me with a week's holiday part way through).

Target: around 63-66kg

SatinHeart · 22/09/2024 09:22

SW 73kg
CW 70kg
Target 65 kg

Pleased so far but not doing very well exercise-wise yet so need to up my game on that.

Blosssom · 22/09/2024 10:14

Well done! That is a great loss!

Here it's

SW 79kg
CW 75kg
GW 70kg

I'm doing what feels like billions of steps a day (in reality it's 15,000 on average) and it's really exhausting. It's become a bit of an obsession. I think I need to find a type of exercise that's less time consuming!

Snowdrops17 · 22/09/2024 10:21

Yes please I'm 15 weeks Post Partum and have at least 2 stone to lose realistically need to lose 3/4 stone by next august

Sunnysunn · 22/09/2024 10:27

3 weeks in

SW: 76kg
CW: 72kg
Target: 66kg initially

Happy with progress so far

Proteinpud · 22/09/2024 10:52

@Blosssom appreciate it's a while since you posted, but it looks like you lost 2kg in two weeks? That's not glacial, I think maybe you need to readjust your expectations about what the body can do. That's a pretty significant for most people!
It's only people who are very excessively overweight to start who will lose faster than that, and what they lose isn't necessarily all fat loss either.

Blosssom · 22/09/2024 10:54

Yes @Proteinpud you are right, I'm quite an impatient person and I tend to overdo my dieting, eating very little and then being annoyed I haven't met the goal weight within two weeks as a result.

It also doesn't help that DH is doing this alongside me and always makes much greater progress somehow, especially at the start.

I will try and be more patient!

Proteinpud · 22/09/2024 11:01

I think we're conditioned to think we can make drastic changes in a month and its just not realistic. Men do tend to lose weight faster (although part of that is because they're usually bigger so proportionally it's not always as big a difference as it looks)
Could you look at being a bit less restrictive with your plan? If you're feeling constantly deprived time will go really slow, it's got to be something that feels sustainable that you can eventually do without having to think about it too much.
