On holiday and after a stressful four years I'm ready to get fit and healthy and lose two stone. I'm going to start at the beginning of September. Would anyone like to join and motivate each other?

I have weighed this morning and am 12 stone. This is 2lb less than when the thread started so pleased with that. My first goal is 11.9 which will mean 1/2 stone off.
have read the rules - ok with the last two but need to up my water intake and step count. I don’t think I can do 10k in a day at the moment but will aim for 5 and try to increase it (have dodgy knees and back).

PussInBin20 · 01/09/2024 09:35

Gosh OP, your rules are quite tough! (for me anyway lol).

I wanted to lose a stone after being on Summer holiday and realising I couldn’t fit comfortably in my Summer clothes anymore (plus I didn’t want to buy new stuff). So want to be a bit thinner by Xmas.

I’ve been really thinking about what goes in my mouth but it is really boring. I’ve never had to watch my weight before but now in my early 50s, I need to.

I lost a few pounds last week but this was due to an upset stomach so I didn’t want to eat lol.

Wishing everyone good luck!

Standinginthesunlight · 01/09/2024 09:39

I have had a bad couple of days as we had a barbecue Friday. Food wasn’t too bad but lots of cocktails drunk. Then lots of leftovers to eat up yesterday.

LouLou198 · 01/09/2024 09:42

I will join you and starting tomorrow! I was doing really well but then school holidays happened! Lots of treats but had the best time with dc. Would love a stone off before Christmas. Really need to drink more water!

Bananamuffins123 · 01/09/2024 09:43

I would like to join too please. I will weigh in tomorrow morning and try to stay relatively low carb today .
I have been trying to give up chocolate in the last 2 weeks, first week went ok but last week i totally spoilt everything. I think i need daily weigh ins to stay accountable.

TotteringBy · 01/09/2024 09:57

I bought new scales and also some new digital kitchen scales as I only had old fashioned ones, it's helpful to be able to weigh portions to get a handle on how much and how many calories I am really eating.
First official weigh in today 12st 6lb
I've been on a/l last week and had a really nice week at home going for long walks every day except the day I went swimming and managing my food much more easily - pleased to have lost 2lb since the day my scales came and I started in earnest on Tuesday. I know it won't be that much every week and this coming week will be challenging as I have various events involving food and drink. Aunt's memorial tomorrow, we are meeting for lunch before hand, nice pub, I've checked the menu and plan to choose wisely and as it's a long drive no drinks before or after when there will be a gathering, I expect tea and sandwiches so should manage to not overindulge. Won't get any exercise though as it will take all day, getting there and getting back. Then Wednesday is daughter's graduation. Another all day (and overnight). I guess I'll have breakfast before we leave and no lunch as it starts at 12:30. Then in the evening a restaurant has been booked, there will be champagne and good food. I'll try to choose wisely, not overindulge, no pudding and stick to a light breakfast in the morning, nothing cooked.
Still on a/l all week so will try to be extra good on the other days. Then it's back to work, but I've dropped a day a week from today, so only 2.5 days now which gives me plenty of days when I can spend more time in myself. I've promised myself to go swimming once a week in my half day.
The university in the city where I work has a 50m pool I like to go to as it is much harder work to swim 50m lengths and it's basically all lane swimming (me in the slow) and the pros steaming up and down doing about 5 lengths to my one 😅. Trouble is it's the far side of town (which is 17 miles from home anyway) and coming home in rush hour is a nightmare but I do find it such good exercise. I haven't been for ages because it's very inconvenient but I'm going to try to go once a week now.

12 stone 7 today. I went to a 50th party last night. I resisted any of the buffet. Unheard of for me. Cake was being wrapped to take home. I took none of it.

Going for a long walk today.

TotteringBy · 01/09/2024 10:17

Well done @Rhinohorn
You will feel all the better for it today.

Stewed my blackberries with apples from the garden and have been breakfasting on overnight oats made with oat milk and a dollop of skyr and blackberry and apple compote on top. Lovely. My fitness pal calculates about 340 calories including half a glass of or juice (I've always agreed down juice 50:50 since student days).
Which is about one spoonful of Hellmans mayonnaise! So it's definitely bye bye to the Hellmans, much loved in my family. I'll admit I never looked at the calories on the label before, I knew it would be calorific but I was very shocked to see just how much!

TotteringBy · 01/09/2024 10:18

*watered down juice - not agreed !

StewardsEnquiry · 01/09/2024 10:20

Good morning, happy 1st September.
Good luck everybody.

I started a few days ago but I weighed in again today for our official start day.

Start weight: 11st 1lb
Today: 10st 10lb
GW: 9st 12lb

I'm interested in the 31 miles challenge. It sounds very do-able and will be good for me to get back into doing some regular activity.

Well done! Amazing willpower! 👏

1st September: 13 St 5
Goal for xmas: 11 St 5

Have been just trying to get in the habit of drinking more water and walking /exercising more so far in preparation for the start date.
Had a lovely takeaway and glass of wine last night.Hoping to eat a bit better today 😀

Rhinohorn · 01/09/2024 10:35

Ty @foxymoxy68 It was a combination of not wanting to look greedy as no one in my group touched the buffet. I didn't want to be the only 1 with a plate of food scoffing it all in as I chatted in the group. Plus it was a big party and I looked at the finger food laid out and thought how so many people had either inadvertently touched/ breathed on it and then I would have eaten it. My greediness usually wouldn't care about this. But not last night ! I kept focused on my weight goal

Standinginthesunlight · 01/09/2024 12:07

Just walked the dog. Much to her surprise as partner usually does it. According to the Samsung health app on my phone I walked 59 mins, 5734 steps - which was 2.7 miles. I need to find some better trainers though as the ones I wore are quite flimsy. Ok for walking round shops in but I could feel every stone and rut.

Midlifeshenanigans · 01/09/2024 13:01

@IOnlyNeedTheSilence it is vey odd how much different people can weigh. I have small feet (3) and know at 9 6 I look a bit overweight so going for 9 stone. Mind you it’s been a few years since I have got anywhere close 😞

369thegoosedrankwine · 01/09/2024 15:34

Hi - right I'm back off holiday and weighed in although been travelling long haul so I have a massive bloat so will lose a few lbs in a few days.

Weighed in today at 11st11
Aiming to get to 10 stone for Christmas.
Short term goal 11st2 by end of September.

Starting tomorrow with intermittent fasting. No wine (this has been a habit) . High protein and calorie counting and just very healthily.

I felt so frumpy on holiday I have saved a few photos as inspiration!!

Also going to start exercise on Tuesday although I do exercise anyway going to do more weights!!!

JugglingMummyof2 · 01/09/2024 15:50

I am very late to the party but please may I join?
This summer has been a very indulgent one with lots of holidays and eating out ( yes I know poor me but it will probably be the last summer for a while when we will have both DC with us at the same time as they are now adults and making their way in the world) I have lost all sense of portion size and at 56 that's not ideal.
So having arrived back yesterday, I weighed in this morning at 145lbs which is massive for me/my height. I still have one DC here until Friday so may be making slow progress until then but will set myself the goal to be 137lbs by 1st Oct.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 01/09/2024 16:30

Hello all, I’m definitely in. September always feels like the start of the new year to me. I’m 45 and weighed in at 12st5lb this morning. Not as bad as my heaviest (13st), but not healthy for my height (5ft5) or frame (small boobs / no hips). I would love to lose 2.5 stone.
So…
start weight 12st5lb
goal weight 9st12

I have a NYE party and would absolutely love to be under 10st by then.

I am walking (youngest starts school) miles every day on the school runs, and am active in between with running the house / gardening. Will eat between 11 and 7 and not snack!

NotPennysBoat · 01/09/2024 17:01

Evening all, just posting with my opening weight after a seriously indulgent 2 week holiday!
My plan is 16:8 IF, walking to/from school at least 3x a week, massively cutting back on chocolate & wine (my weaknesses!).

I'm 5'4 and 43yo...
Start weight 01/09: 71kg (11st2)
Interim goal: 68kg (10st10) by Oct
Goal weight: 64kg (10st)

YourBlueSquid · 01/09/2024 18:39

Well I am weighing tomorrow and I know it will be over 15 actual stone which feels shameful.
I really want to manage 2 stone by Christmas, my meals are always healthy , however , my snacks and booze are problematic.

Peae · 01/09/2024 19:24

Hello Everyone, may I join in?

I have been desperately trying to catch up with the end of the thread by September, but failed. I'm enjoying reading everyone's posts and don't want to skip any. So, I thought I'd jump in and declare my presence before going back to continue reading.

I'm 5'6" (seem to have lost an inch this year) and 13st 6lb (currently away for a long weekend, so expecting that to have gone up by Tuesday morning). I kind of had a bit of a reality check recently and realised I had to get serious. 16:8 most days a week, not really snacking, generally eating really well etc. is just not cutting it.

I'm going hardcore and quitting sugar and doing OMAD. So far, so good. In fact, I've been feeling great. What I thought was fatigue due to my age and weight seems to have disappeared, so I'm wondering if it was actually fatigue from insulin resistance?

piggyinablanket · 01/09/2024 19:57

Hi All!

Have lurked on so many of these threads, but for some reason this one has motivated me into announcing my presence & joining in. I need the accountability!

My plan is calorie counting, alongside the 5:2 diet, and upping my exercise. Will start C25K tomorrow too.

My downfalls are sugar and wine so also plan on cutting right back on sugar (apart from fruit) & no alcohol (this will be hard!).

Will weigh in tomorrow…a week of annual leave & over indulging will certainly show but am feeling motivated, i just need to take charge of my willpower!

Good luck to everyone, whatever demons we’re all facing, we can smash it together!

qwerty1972 · 01/09/2024 21:22

Just popped in to say that @frenchbreadandbites suggestion of a 2 litre water bottle is a game changer. For the first time in forever I have drunk 2 litres of water today. I filled the bottle in the morning, added ice and have had no problem at all drinking it all. Clearly I have just been disorganised (or lazy) in the past. When the water is cold, ready to drink and easily available, I drink it!

Blarn · 02/09/2024 12:34

12 St 6, which has gone up since I last weighed myself a month or sixish weeks ago. My weight fluctuates wildly throughout the month though, always has. I can gain over half a stone in the week before my period and used to have a pair of work trousers in a larger size to wear when I was bloated!

Had a cup of coffee with a bit of oat milk this morning and just had three cor crackers (69 cal for three) with some very nice Polish cream cheese and sliced cucumber. I took the day off to spend with dds but they have been arguing for a while over a lost squishy. What I really want is to eat a load of biscuits.

Dinner will be some sausage and chestnut stuffing that has been in the freezer since I made it last Christmas! I'll bake it in the oven with some sweet potato, possibly a couple of new potatoes which need using and some green vegetables on the side.

JugglingMummyof2 · 02/09/2024 15:16

Day 2 and 144.2lbs so 0.8lb down which is a start.
