Just that really. I used to be a on a short person weight loss thread and can't see a current one. I'm 5'1, 41 and 10st 5lb and need to get down to 9st. I had a baby in May and had got down to 9st 3lb before the pregnancy. So far I'm finding it quite hard to cut the calories down and need to work on that, and obviously need to fit exercise in around the baby but at least being on mat leave helps with that.

Welcome to new people! You’re more than welcome to join @Accbabymom1994

I’m actually kind of obsessed with yogurt so it’s one of the protein sources I’m very happy to have at all times. Which is handy because I don’t eat much meat.

Didn’t lose weight this week, so my goal for being below 10st for holiday is not looking likely. On the plus side once I’m back from Italy the goal will be longer term and maybe I can get nearer to 9st by Christmas. I do have to get a handle on my calories though, they’re my main hurdle right now.

Morning all how’s it going? I found out that Mirtazapine, which I’ve been taking since November, is used as an appetite stimulant so I’m going to ask my GP if I can swap to another medication for anxiety. Slipped a bit with my “clean eating” lately but back on it now. Last night I had foil baked salmon with steamed broccoli which I really enjoyed. Need to up my exercise. I have had a lot of physical problems the last few years & couldn’t really do anything to get fit. Hopefully can return to Pilates & definitely going to up my daily steps.

Needanewname42 · 10/09/2024 10:01

@RabbitsRock
You and I are about the same height. Right down to the half (well I don't think I'm a full half, more "a bit")

This morning I weight in at 12st 5.2. I want to get down to 9 or 10st. I think I'm carrying more muscle than I was the last time I was 9st. But 10st with a bunch of muscle will do me nicely.

It never going to be big 2lb drops a week. If I can get 1 off a week I'll be happy.

SpecduckularlyQuackers · 03/10/2024 08:36

Resurrecting this thread to say hello to my fellow shorties! Hope you're all doing well 🙂

I'm now 14 weeks postpartum, still breastfeeding, and my weight is creeeeeeping down. It's a month since I last posted and I've lost nearly 4 lb, which I'm happy with as that included a holiday for a week in which I was definitely not being careful with what I eat!

I'm still finding it tricky to balance getting enough calories for breastfeeding with restricting enough to lose weight, but it's heartening to see things going in the right direction. I've also got an appointment next month with a women's physio to look at the pregnancy/birth related issues I'm still having which are restricting my physical activity, so I'm hopeful for some improvement on that this side of Christmas 🤞🏻

SW (about a month ago) 12 st 8 lb
CW 11 st 10 lb
GW 9 st 7 lb

I'm 100 g from being in the overweight BMI category 😂 hopefully next week!

How's everyone else doing?

Magnolia82 · 03/10/2024 09:55

Hi @SpecduckularlyQuackers Well done for your progress. (Especially with a young baby!)

I'm struggling to lose and not sure what to do. I only need to lose a few pounds, but I definitely feel/look better around 7 pounds lighter than current weight.

Is anyone here an 'apple shape' and have any tips? I'm officially a 'healthy weight' at 8st4ish but have a huge belly and just not managing to lose these few pounds.

AllTheNaps · 03/10/2024 11:44

Brilliant progress @SpecduckularlyQuackers 👏 so hard with a small person!

My LO has just turned 4 months, it's been a rough month with my other 2 being ill so food choices haven't been great but I'm still exercising. I'm finding it really hard with BFing as I'm starving all the time 😅

SW (newly PP) 61.75kg
CW 57.85kg
GW 55kg
More about feeling a bit better in my clothes as all my weight accumulates around my thighs and bum!

SpecduckularlyQuackers · 03/10/2024 11:45

Thanks @Magnolia82 🙂 I've no idea really as I'm not an apple shape and haven't been 8 stone anything for about 10 years but while I do understand weight loss is much more about food than exercise, I wonder whether being already at a healthy weight might mean that certain types of exercise might help with the shape change you're looking for? Maybe some core work?

Accbabymom1994 · 03/10/2024 11:47

Pounds going down , 13 stones 8 pounds today!

SpecduckularlyQuackers · 03/10/2024 11:54

I just realised I made my progress look a lot more impressive with bad editing 😳 Try again...

Well done @Accbabymom1994 !

@AllTheNaps I hear you on the breastfeeding hunger! And the juggling things with a baby and older children (I have a preschooler as well)!

Swearwolf · 03/10/2024 12:38

How nice to see this thread back, hi everyone!

I haven't lost all that much more as I am still yoyo-ing, but overall I'm on a downward trend. The last couple of weeks I've lost 0.4kg, just under 1lb, and if I can do that for the rest of October I will be officially a healthy weight! Currently 64.1kg, 10 stone 1. I fell out of my good habits over the summer but now I'm back into routine, exercising more and drinking less.

Swearwolf · 03/10/2024 12:40

@SpecduckularlyQuackers I also carry any weight on my stomach, but the thing that has really worked to counter that is running. I'm not very fast but it has done wonders for stretching me out and flattening my stomach.

TheBirdintheCave · 03/10/2024 14:31

Can I join? I'm 5'3" and 38 years old. My baby daughter was born in May and I've put on around 2 stone 😭

My goal is to get back to the weight I was when I was the fittest I've ever been which was in 2019, before I had my son.

I started in May at 10 stone 7 with a 31 inch waist and am now down to 9 stone 7 with a 28 inch waist.

My target is 8 stone and 26 inches which is what I used to be. Not sure if it's achievable but I'm going to give it a go!

We've bought weights and a rowing machine and I go to Zumba and box fit. I've also cut my portion sizes down so that my lunches are FAR smaller and cut out most of the bread from my diet.

thislittlebird · 03/10/2024 21:16

@TheBirdintheCave hello over here too!!!

I was doing well and had lost a few pounds, then the holiday plans went haywire (moved it due to Storm Boris) and switched our trip to Cornwall for a few nights, and then we all got sick. And that was the last few weeks in a nutshell. In the meantime I’ve been eating waaaaay too much and feel like I need an intervention. I was doing ok and then the baby hit 4 month sleep regression and most days has been fighting about naps with her and anxiety about whether she’ll keep sleeping through or not. I feel like I don’t know where to start with getting my calories down, before I was pregnant last September I was much, much better than I am now with food. The weather is also crap so I’m not getting out walking as much as I was before.

I started at 10st 5 and got down to 10st 1ish in early September and I am currently refusing to weigh myself because I know I’m back up to what I was or worse. I need a couple of weeks of good diet before I’m braving the scales again.

TheBirdintheCave · 03/10/2024 22:05

@thislittlebird Hello :D Sorry you're in the depths of regression with the wee one :(

In terms of calorie intake, I started out by just having a can of soup for lunch and a glass of water, nothing else. It was boring but it did seem to shed a lot of weight fast.

Post holiday I changed the lunches up so I now have salad or veggie quiche or omelette etc.

Breakfast I had a smaller portion of my usual meal and the same with dinner.

Neversaygoodbye · 04/10/2024 07:59

Hey everyone, I managed to lose almost 4lb, then had a stressy couple of weeks and put 2lb back on. Weigh in for me is tomorrow but now my DD is back from Uni for the weekend to celebrate her birthday so that means it'll be a calorific weekend. It really is one step forward 2 steps back. Will weigh in tomorrow anyway and get back on it next week.

keeponplodding7 · 06/10/2024 18:29

Hope this thread keeps going! So I am 5ft1 and 12 stone . It needs to stop and so from tomorrow I’m doing fast 800. I have got to the point where I have mounjaro in the fridge but something is stopping me doing it and I think it’s that I know I have the willpower to do it on my own?

Honestly take the Mounjaro, I wish I started it sooner! You still are doing things on your own - you have to eat less, make responsible food choices and exercise else you won’t lose weight. I have lost weight at a good pace and haven’t had side effects. It’s like having a safety blanket almost, as I tend to yo-yo in weight and can’t stick things out.

Rainallnight · 06/10/2024 18:48

Thanks for doing this, OP! I was on the last thread (I think). My weight went up to 9 stone 10, my heaviest ever, in around May this year. I’m only 5 foot nothing.

I was very down about it. And then bumped into a work friend I’d not seen in person for a long time who told me she was doing WeightWatchers. To cut a long story short, I gave it a go and now I’m 8 stone 6. My goal weight is 8’4 so I’m nearly there!

After many years of feeling like nothing worked, this is really helping me.

I’m aware I sound like an ad for them so I’ll stop there, but just wanted to share some hope for the short ones!

I am about the same height and was 11stone 7.8lb in August. Now 9st 12lb on Mounjaro. Only want to go to 9st as that's maintainable for me.

Wow well done. See I read things like that and wonder if I’m being silly and should just take it…

crampyi · 06/10/2024 20:06

I lost 12kg on Mounjaro - I have about the same to lose to reach my target. Therefore I don’t think I’ll be on it for a long period of time, it took 3 months so far to lose that so I assume it will be another 3 months until I’m finished.

Amazing! Well done.
basically I think I’ll try a week without and see what I lose. If I can’t do it I’ll give the mounjaro a go….

I’m hoping she chills on the nap resistance in a few weeks when she’s 5 months ish! The weekend was not great but today has started better, hoping it continues.

I’m doing ok today so far but the afternoons are usually when it all goes to shit.

I’ve had about 400 calories for each meal so far and will aim for similar later. I know I get hungry in the afternoons so I’ve had a lunch with protein in and might have salmon and roasted Mediterranean veg for dinner. I’m not going too crazy right away because I’ve been eating too much and I’ll be very hungry so trying to control snacks and eat better/calorie control initially and then reduce down.

@thislittlebird similarly sleep is rubbish here. Hoping it will improve in a few weeks 🙏 agree afternoons are always harder!

I've lost 1kg this week, it does tie in with trialing dairy free as baby possibly has CMPA so my food options are pretty limited 🙈
