Just that really. I used to be a on a short person weight loss thread and can't see a current one. I'm 5'1, 41 and 10st 5lb and need to get down to 9st. I had a baby in May and had got down to 9st 3lb before the pregnancy. So far I'm finding it quite hard to cut the calories down and need to work on that, and obviously need to fit exercise in around the baby but at least being on mat leave helps with that.

@Neversaygoodbye i also prefer upping the exercise! But then I don’t do it and it all goes wrong 😑. it seems very unfair that we don’t have smaller appetites for being shorter 😭

I’m tired of spending half the day walking and working out so seeing if I can limit calories today. Made a banana cacao protein shake today, hoping that will keep me full for a few hours.

@SpecduckularlyQuackers welcome! I know the feeling of wanting to get back to it. We’re going on holiday in a few weeks and I know I’ll hate the photos of me. I hope this time next year I might like photos of me below the neck!

Well, the holidays are over and I'm back to work. I daren't weigh myself but I can see and feel that I've gained a fair bit over the hols. Nothing that can't be fixed! I hope. I'm back on Slimming World and gonna get back to the gym from tomorrow. Will give myself a few weeks to try and lose a bit before weighing myself, the scales make me very depressed!!

How's everyone been doing today? 😊

thislittlebird · 29/08/2024 09:43

@ATribeCalledQuestion delaying the weigh in sounds like a good plan. I did that when I started.

I did an early weigh in this week and was pleased to be down to 10st 1. If I can get under 10st before holiday (2 weeks or so) that would be nice. We’re staying at a self catering chalet so I think the biggest meal of the day will be our lunch, I’ll try to have a relatively healthy breakfast still. Would like to not put the whole 5lbs I’ve lost right back on while away for 4 nights.

Feel really shit/migrainey today though so not sure how much I’ll achieve when I’ve only had toast and butter so far. I did manage to eat only 1250kcal yesterday which was good. Mostly achieved by delaying breakfast and then having a protein shake at about 12.

Take it easy, its early days.

I know, and I genuinely appreciate your post. But this is the only place I feel able to be honest about how I feel. I love my children but I don't love the impact of my pregnancies on my body. I also want to be at the best possible health and fitness for their sake as well as my own 🙂

Of course, its nice to be healthy and fit. Of course.

Its early days, give it a month or so some lbs will disappear.😘

If I so much as eye up Sangria and little fried nibbly things, I'll put on the weight. 9 nights in Spain coming up, waited a long time for this but don't want to return a hungover, larger person.

Here's hoping 😊 though I've had a not great couple of days. The wee one had his first vaccinations this week and has been extremely grumpy, and I am basically a stress eater... 😬

@thislittlebird thanks for the welcome. I hear you on the photos, but at the same time I want there to be photos of me with the kids so I'm sucking it up (and in 😂).

Neversaygoodbye · 31/08/2024 16:10

I stuck to my diet up until thursday where after visiting a very sick friend in hospital we ended up grabbing some food from M&S for dinner and not eating till 9pm and I didn't make the best choices. I had lost 2lb last week, I am the same weight this week. This is so typical and the difficulty I have had since turning 50 and starting HRT. I would say I'm following the strictest diet I've ever done (1000-1200max cals and sometimes 800-1000) and the weight still doesn't come off. I also thought being the heaviest I am I might lose more initially which would spur me on. It's so demoralising.

Livedandlearned · 31/08/2024 18:57

Don't go too low on the calories

SpecduckularlyQuackers · 03/09/2024 10:17

Just weighed in for the week and I've dropped into the next stone bracket - only just, but I'll take it!

SW (about a month ago) 12 st 8 lb
CW 11 st 13 lb
GW 9 st 7 lb (my normal weight before my pregnancies was between 9 and 9.5 stone)

NSV - I can now fasten a pair of jeans that wasn't even close to doing up three weeks ago. I'm hoping that means my diastasis is improving too 🙂

crampyi · 03/09/2024 10:41

thanks for the thread. here is my update:

Starting at 74kg
Currently 67kg

I don’t have number in mind for goal -somewhere in the 50-55kg range. Ideally I want to build muscle but also shift my stubborn back fat, so I’m not fussed what the scales say as long as I look fit.

I’m around 5ft. I was considered obese BMI with my previous weight and am now considered just overweight BMI which is great.

I’m hoping this month I can get down to 64kg. This was how much I weighed this time last year, so that would mean I revert all
of the weight gain since.

I used to be slim and I can’t wait to fit into my old clothes again and not feel ashamed about what I look like. So far, I think the biggest change has been to my mental health. I also feel less exhausted when going on walks etc.

thislittlebird · 04/09/2024 08:32

Less than 2 weeks to go to my holiday and I have gained 1lb but I’m not shocked, I weighed myself a day early because I knew I’d been eating too much. I’m still struggling to get the calories down. I start off well most days and then it all goes to shit when I’m hungry in the afternoon and evening when I start snacking.

I think I’ll aim to not start eating this morning, try to skip breakfast and go through to lunch. Once I start eating I feel hungry all the time.

What are you snacking on @thislittlebird Make sure you are prioritising protein.

thislittlebird · 04/09/2024 09:28

@SnacklessWonder anything and everything! I’ve always been a snacker but since the baby I’m finding it worse than ever. I used to be able to do 1200-1400 kcals but currently it’s out of hand and I’m doing a lot more.

A question for those who don't have much weight to lose ... how many calories a day do you find you need to eat to lose weight?

It just doesn't feel sustainable (or healthy) for me to cut my calories anymore. I'm 8st4 but not lost any weight for months, even though I've been really trying! I definitely need/want to be around 7 pounds less than this. (Mainly due to tummy fat.)

SnacklessWonder · 04/09/2024 10:06

If you have some snacks that are high protein you'll feel full for longer. I snack on Mini Babybel cheeses or smelly Pepperami - both of which are under 50cal. I also buy the bags of multi-pack popcorn which are low calorie. Sometimes its the act of eating something rather than hunger, and I've also switched to having a pint of water/squash if I feel I am reaching for the food to see if that helps tie me over first!

thislittlebird · 04/09/2024 14:37

@SnacklessWonder yeah I do snack on cheese and meat a little bit. Today has been better (although it’s only 14.36 😩). I’ve had a late breakfast at about 11.30 of one small slice of toast, half an avocado, salami and a little bit of hummus. Then just made a chocolate and banana protein shake. Now I just need to keep busy and not go snack crazy as the day goes on!

Morning all - the weight loss thread I was on seems to have disappeared so I would be glad to join this one. I’m 58,5ft 2.5” ( the half is very important 🤣) & weigh just over 13 stone. I try not to weigh myself too often as it seems to vary quite a lot. The other day I was up to 13 stone 7 but this morning I was 13 stone 3. At my heaviest I was 16 stone & weighed more than DH who is 6ft!
I lost a lot of the weight through quitting drinking but am finding that I crave sugar more as I’m not getting it from the alcohol. Never used to be a fan of sweets but these days I will keep buying Lidl’s jellybeans - so good! Biscuits & crisps are 2 more downfalls! I’m very good & buy Greek yogurt to have with a drizzle of honey instead but then it sits in the fridge!
Ideally aiming for 10 stone. I used to be around 9 but looked rather gaunt, especially as I’m getting older, although I’m very lucky to have virtually no wrinkles ( thanks DF for the good genes). 11 would be ok.

eggplant16 · 05/09/2024 10:09

Im guessing RabbitsRock you like the texture and taste of crispy salty things. I too buy yoghurt and either throw it away or partner eats it.
Silly!
I cut down my calories and lost but I couldn't sleep some nights due to hunger. As soon as I start eatign again, the pounds come back.
Long haul for sure.

Needanewname42 · 06/09/2024 13:09

Me too the second I chill, I fall off the wagon, it just all piles back on. And very hard to get back on the wagon.

This time I'm going slow and steady, no daft skipping meals, old fashioned calorie counting. And trying to make sure I get enough protein along with upping the exercise.

I'm aiming for a single pound a week.
All those diets that say you can loose 1-2lb maybe big tall people can drop 2lb but that a 1000cal deficit per day. Which for a Smurf with a 1500cal burn per day is just never going to happen. Maybe that's my big change this time, don't be disappointed at 'only losing a pound'

SnacklessWonder · 08/09/2024 07:23

Haha I do the yoghurt thing when on a diet too. Buy it, stick it in the fridge and then it goes in the bin. I'm not even sure I like yoghurt that much.

Neversaygoodbye · 08/09/2024 09:18

So it's 1.5lb off for me this week, which means I've lost 3.5 in 3 weeks so slow going but at least it's moving in the right direction. Only 0.5lb to get me into the 10s so fingers crossed for next weeks weigh in. Considering my exercise is minimal due to the PF I can't really complain. Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Accbabymom1994 · 08/09/2024 09:21

Hi , I'm 5'4 can I join ?

AlisonMiranda · 08/09/2024 13:10

I'm 10st 12lb today. My plans were rudely interrupted by Covid! I had almost forgotten it existed but I've been wiped out for about 10 days. I'm hoping to get started with some structured exercise this week.
