Just that really. I used to be a on a short person weight loss thread and can't see a current one. I'm 5'1, 41 and 10st 5lb and need to get down to 9st. I had a baby in May and had got down to 9st 3lb before the pregnancy. So far I'm finding it quite hard to cut the calories down and need to work on that, and obviously need to fit exercise in around the baby but at least being on mat leave helps with that.

I’m struggling to get my calories down, it’s really frustrating. Not sure if it’s the post pregnancy (3 months ago) hormones or something, but I feel like I’m a lot more hungry than I was when I last cut calories out.

@eggplant It almost seemed too hot to eat much and we seemed to do loads of walking.

@thislittlebird Go easy on yourself 3months is nothing. Your probably still up and down during the night.
Are you Breastfeeding? because that can make dieting hard too.

thislittlebird · 14/08/2024 14:10

@Needanewname42 luckily I’ve got one of those unicorn babies who slept through from 5 or 6 weeks. She now does 7 hours which is really handy for helping me restart the weight loss and exercise, I’m not sure I could do it with less sleep really. not breastfeeding (or expressing) any more, she has a tongue tie. I gained weight as soon as I stopped.

I did a workout today, and will aim to walk later.

Gosh take it easy. Early days after bringing a person into the world.

I've been on holiday for a few days and let myself eat cakes, chocolate and ice cream in unlimited quantities then came down with a nasty cold and have done no exercise. Today I'm getting back on the wagon. Wholemeal toast and dippy egg for brunch, salad and protein shake for dinner.

How do you feel after you let yourself off the lead? I'm not eating much but having compensatory bottles of wine. Silly.

thislittlebird · 16/08/2024 21:39

@eggplant16 I feel ok tbh and have a baby who loves sleeping, which definitely helps!

Got my weigh in in the morning, dreading it but I’ll be happy if I’ve lost 1lb. I’ve done exercise and 10k steps most days.

I'd like to join please. I'm 53 and my weigh in this morning was 11st 3.8 which is the heaviest I've ever been except when pregnant. I've always had to monitor my weight which generally fluctuated 9-10st but pre-40s, weight watchers and exercise always helped me get it down and now nothing seems to work. I am also suffering badly from plantar fasciitis at the moment so doing even less exercise than normal.
I also have a very slim fit DH and growing 17 year old DS at home full time and a DD part-time (she'll be back at Uni in Sept).

I'm wondering whether to join a formal plan again (WW) in an attempt to make myself accountable or just calorie count.

Neversaygoodbye · 17/08/2024 08:29

Forgot to add my height - key information - I'm 5ft zero.

thislittlebird · 17/08/2024 08:40

@Neversaygoodbye welcome! I sympathise with the plantar fasciitis. It’s so shit and I seem to know a lot of people who have it nowadays. Mine was very bad when I was pregnant but not as bad now, I’m hoping losing a stone will help with it.

I did my weigh in this morning and I’m down 1.8lbs which is good, so I’m now 10st 2lb. I think I’ve lost a centimetre from hips, waist etc but I might need one of those body fat measuring tapes as I’m never sure if I’m measuring accurately.

@thislittlebird thank you for the welcome & congrats on this weeks loss. Fingers crossed I will see the same next week.

eggplant16 · 17/08/2024 09:14

Its been tough, and I'm not sure its sustainable but I'm down to 10.3 now from 10.11.
No "system" as such, just sheer bloody mindedness tbh.

Needanewname42 · 17/08/2024 14:59

Hello
I'm down a little today too 12st 6.5!
Still huge compared to most of you but under 12.5 stone was a mini target for me. Yeah!
My next mini target is 12st 3.

I hope that setting mini targets that are achievable might actually help keep me going. I also took photos 📸 this morning. I suppose I should set up a file for my photos.

FlourishandBlotts · 17/08/2024 19:25

Hi, can I join in?

5ft 1, weight currently unknown but around 10 stone. Really unhappy with my weight, a lot of my clothes no longer fit - no children either!

I eat too many cakes, chocolate, sweets etc! And do very little movement, my job is predominantly work from home!

It also does not help that my other half is over 6 foot and can eat anything! I find it really hard to cook for us both.

any support and tips would be great.

AlisonMiranda · 18/08/2024 08:58

Can I join? I'm 52 and unfortunately still perimenopausal. I'm 5'2" and my weight is fluctuating between 10st10lb and 11st and it's the heaviest I've ever been. I'm separated after a horrible breakup and I'd like to start living a healthier life and to look and feel better.
I've signed up for Pilates twice a week at a local gym and I'm going to start 16:8. Like a PP I also want to improve my skin care as well.
I know it's eating in the evening time that's my major downfall. I also need to be eating a proper protein dinner and taking iron as my iron levels are currently low.

Livedandlearned · 18/08/2024 19:10

You can do this @AlisonMiranda, I'm the same weight as you and I need to push myself.

I make a cup of tea in the evenings after dinner, and if I do some exercise before dinner and eat some good protein I don't really want snacks.

It's hard, really hard but you can do it.

Yourinmyspot · 19/08/2024 00:27

I’m 4ft 11 and was 9st 12lb ten years ago. I was walking home one day after taking my almost two year old to playgroup and my belly was hanging over my size 16 jeans and I had suddenly just had enough. I did slimming world for a bit, and took up running. It took a while but I did lose weight. I always think when your short it seems harder.

MissAtomicBomb1 · 19/08/2024 15:14

Can I join please?
I'm 4ft 11 and 10st 5lb.
Pre kids I was around 9.5st and would love to get back to this. I managed to lose about 3lbs since June at a painfully slow rate of about 1/2 a pound a week but then put it all back on over the past few weeks during our AI holiday 😞
I'm finding it's not enough to just cut out breakfast/snacks and reduce portions a bit now. The weight would have shifted easily 10 years ago but it's much tougher now. I'm having to drop to 800-1000 cals. Hard to sustain so I'm hoping this thread will motivate me!

crampyi · 21/08/2024 14:26

I have been on MJ for almost 3 weeks and am very short. I have 15-20kg to lose and have lost 3kg so far. My appetite suppression is a inconsistent, but I have overall been eating much less than usual!

It’s been difficult to gauge how much I should be eating to keep my body functioning well ie making sure I get enough nutrients in. For example without MJ; my BMR calories are 1200; 800 calories for weight loss. However on MJ, I find myself wanting to eat less than that on some days and not being able to finish my servings. I also find myself trying to go for “one last bite” and have given myself a hurt stomach from eating too much!

has anyone been able to get into a good rhythm on MJ with a nutritious meal plan, that’s is also quite low in calories due to your height? I’m not sure what I need to make sure I’m eating especially with so little calories to play around with! So I think on some days I’m eating too much and others, not enough.

Neversaygoodbye · 24/08/2024 08:12

My first weigh in and I'm down 2lb, pretty pleased with that. Now I just need to stick with it.

thislittlebird · 24/08/2024 12:28

Welcome to the new folks!

@Neversaygoodbye well done! Mine did not go well this week. I knew it wouldn't, I've eaten too much and the baby has been fussy so I didn't do enough exercise so I'm back up to 10lb 3.2 from 10lb 2 last week. Not thrilled, but maybe it's the kick I need to cut the calories down.

Neversaygoodbye · 24/08/2024 12:37

@thislittlebird thanks, considering I'm doing so few steps due to the plantar fasciitis I'm chuffed. I cut breakfast out on 4 days, cut my snacking right down & ate salads for lunch Monday-Friday. I'm pleased it worked as I've spent the last few years dabbling & getting nowhere.
It's really tough when you've got little ones so don't be too cross with yourself. But I think having just lost this week, with minimal exercise it reinforces the need for a calorie deficit over exercise which I've know for years but I still prefer upping my exercise to cutting calories, lol. Good luck this week.

AlisonMiranda · 24/08/2024 19:55

I was exactly 11st this morning. I had some melon after my dinner and I'm not going to eat anything else tonight. I have to drop a DC off in a while and I'm going to get a walk in while I'm out of the house anyway. I'm taking today's weight as my starting point, and officially restarting 16:8 right now.

SpecduckularlyQuackers · 27/08/2024 13:33

Hello, I'd like to join as well please! I'm currently 9 weeks postpartum and easily the heaviest I've ever been thanks to some pregnancy complications, including SPD.

I'm 5'2 and currently around 12 stone. I'm breastfeeding, so have to be careful not to go too low on calories and risk my supply. I'm also still suffering with the SPD to an extent so my exercise is limited. Overall that means I'm really looking at a slow rate of loss, but I'm hoping that will make it sustainable.

I know my body has been through a lot with my pregnancies and I should be kind to myself, but I really am feeling very low about how large and unfit I've become. I used to hike 30 km a day through the mountains, now I struggle with a 5 km stroll! And none of my clothes fit! Good job the cute babies are worth it 😂
