Sorry I've not been back here since yesterday to pick up all your good ideas but will store them away for next time.

I had saved some syns and last night had a couple of glasses of red wine, three chicken drumsticks (skin removed) and a packet of snack a jacks which I shamelessly ate along with my cheese allowance (sneaked in a mullerlight just before friend arrived to stave off hunger). I still had extra syns left over !

Today at the children's party I made sure I had lunch just before we left, fried egg, loads of bacon and tomatoes and unbelievably I didn't feel like picking at all, although I did keep away from the food.

Biggest shock of all was I stepped on the scales this morning (I know slap wrists) and have lost 3lbs, so it is working!!!

Food question

If I make chicken soup out of a roast chicken carcass .. ie clear soup with free veg in it .. will it be free on both days? (because stock is and its basically a reduced stock)

so could I have a green day and have chicken soup with rice?

evian · 08/01/2005 19:08

can anyone tell me the syn value of

nestle - nesquik strawberry powder please

mant thanks in advance

Twiglett · 08/01/2005 19:13

a level tbsp is 3 syns on either day .. that's just the powder though

evian · 08/01/2005 19:14

many thanks for that twiglett

DecafArabica · 08/01/2005 20:40

Hi Cori, I think the orthodox advice is not to save syns but people definitely do, especially if they have a social occasion coming up, or as a contingencythat pizza bar we went to on our meet upthe only syn free item on the menu was diet Coke, coffee or water!

Demented · 09/01/2005 14:30

Twiglett have you found the answer to your stock question yet? I'm making roast chicken tonight and (if I can be bothered) usually make stock with the leftovers, having a green day tomorrow so it would be nice to have chicken soup (like you I put rice in it).

can I join your thread, I am joining slimming world..again, got down to 9 st with them 6 years ago from 10 and a half, but after ds2 was born in 2001 put the weight back on, after dd2 was born in the summer I got back down to my pre preg weight, but illness means I have put weight on ...just stepped on scales today to find I weigh..13stone!!! feel so miserable how did I let myself get sooo big?

Demented · 09/01/2005 19:32

Welcome Marjoriedawes, I've let myself get into a mess twice now and know how you feel (both times topping the scales at over 13 stone ). I lost 2 1/2 stone last year and promised myself I wouldn't let it go back on (and I would lose more) and have managed to put on 1/2 stone again, have high hopes for Slimming World, so far it's been great!

All the best!!!

Marjoriedawes · 10/01/2005 16:07

Im joining class again tonight, a friend of mine who goes though said that a lot of the things that were free when I went before are now sinned, is that true? if so what a bummer!! bet it will be all the things I love, hope there are some other extra free foods, I usually always do green days, I love my pasta!

Marjoriedawes · 10/01/2005 16:17

Wish me luck!

DecafArabica · 10/01/2005 16:38

Good luck Marjoriedawes. I know how you feel. I was nearly my heaviest ever when I joined SW: not as big a weight problem as some have to tackle, but still a mountain to me! Anyway, as you know, it does get the weight off--and loads of things are still syn free on a green day, like pasta, rice, jacket potatoes, sweetcorn, baked beans, most Mullerlight yoghurts. Some of the tinned options have syn values now though.

Demented · 10/01/2005 18:53

It was my first weigh-in tonight and I have lost 5 1/2 lbs!

Was going to stick it out for about 10 weeks but think that I will make next week my last week (if they have the book I am looking for in stock) and will continue at home. TBH I cannot be doing with the whole slimming class thing, it puts me off more than anything.

Does anyone know what happens when you leave? Do I have to phone my consultant? Give any notice? I assume they don't want the book they gave me when joining back? (hope not because that's what I am planning on using to keep going ).

It's OK Yorkiegirl, no damper, I was the same last year I think my system comes to a virtual stop over the holiday and realise that some of that would have come off just by getting mobile again!

I did look at the terms and conditions but didn't see anything about leaving, will have another look though.

SPARKLER1 · 10/01/2005 20:44

Demented fantastic loss. Keep it up. Didn't go to weigh in tonight - not feeling well.
